Linksys E1200 patch 2.0.05 build 2 Mar 28, 2013 - still keeps loosing Internet connection

Hi Guys,
Anyone with the above issue - suddenly now my internet keeps loosing connectivity.
Is it the ISP fibre issue or the cisco linksys e1200.
Any feedback appreciated.
many thanks in advance
francis

To properly isolate on which device is not working properly is to disconnect the router from the setup and connect your main computer directly to the modem (via Ethernet cable). You can observe the internet connection through the modem for at least 24 hours. If you find that the modem is working fine (stable) then the problem is with the router. So what you can do is reset the router (pressing and holding the button down) for 15 seconds and power it down for also 15 seconds. You re-configure the internet connection on the router after that. Set the wireless settings, too, like change the SSID, set the channel to something else and make sure that wireless security is enabled. You use WPA2 for wireless security on the router.

  • Linksys E1200 Connecting with Cisco WAP4410n Wirelssly

I have a Linksys E1200 Wifi Router which is connected on LAN Port 1 with Switch. I have enable DHCP through my Server with Internet Connection Sharing.
Now I want to expand my wireless range with 5 WAP4410n in a building.
Can I connect Cisco WAP4410n with E1200 Router? If yes then what will be the WAP4410n AP Mode?
How can I Connect all 5 APs' with same SSID to expand my wireless range?
Moreover, I can access easily to Linksys E1200 on my machines easily within the range but I want to expand the range without the cable.

You might post a direct link to this forum or particular thread if there is informaton on it available.

  • AIR-AP1141N connected to Cisco linksys E1200

Does anyone know if it possible to get dhcp service to an AP1141N when it is connected to  > Cisco Linksys E1200 > cable modem?
The AP gets an IP for the BVI1 interface, the client associates but I get no IP assigment for the client.
    What am I missing?
You may be wondering why I am doing this considering that the linksys is already wireless router. It is just a test to see if it possible. The linksys provides IP's and internet access just fine when the AP is not in the mix.

At one time I had a netgear wireless router and I was able to make this work. I replaced the netgear with the cisco linksys E1200 and now I cannot get it to work.
Attached is the AP config that I used when the netgear was in use.
The only think that is different now is that the IP addr that is assigned to the BVI1 interface.
The default gate on the netgear was the same as you see here.

  • Linksys E1200 No Longer Working After Verizon Modem Replacement

I have a new Linksys E2100 that was working well with an old Verizon modem. Then recently that modem gave up the ghost and I was issued another one (Westel Model 6100G). I have no problems with internet connectivity when connecting directly from my harddrive to the Verizon modem. I am also not having trouble connecting to the Linksys routher as I am able to see my wireless connection with no problem. However, when I try to set up the connnection with the E2100 in the loop (yes, it's connected correctly) I no longer have internet access.
I tried de-installing and re-installing the Linksys software (thinking maybe there was some new configuration that would be auto-detected with a new set-up), but this didn't help. I suspect that if the problem is with my Linksys router and not with my Verizon modem that there might be something that could be done to reconfigure something manually but I do not know enough about connections and wireless systems to trust myself not to mess something up.
At this point I'm assuming it's a Linksys issue since I know that my Verizon modem can connect me to the internet, so works properly. Is there some known incompatibility with this Linksys model and the Westell 6100G modem? Any advice how to proceed from here?

Hello, yes reset and reconfigure. Just download the latest version of Cisco connect 1.4. That will set up the router for you and will update the router if needed. You can download it here http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/E1200.

  • Setting up a Linksys E1200 to Moutain Lion 10.8.3

I recently had to unplug my wireless setup at home, and when I set everything back up again, the internet doesn't work. After talking to TWC, Apple, and Linksys, the ultimate fault was with Linksys saying that the Mountain Lion 10.8.3 wasn't compatible with the Linksys E1200, which was working fine until I unplugged it. I tried resetting the wireless router many times, but still does not work. My iMac recognizes, and connects to the router, but says there's no internet there. TWC said that the internet was fine, and it still works when hard wired to the iMac itself, but they couldn't detect a router. They told me to call Apple. I did. They said it was a Linksys problem, which I believe is correct. I tried opening the router settings in my address bar using 192.168.1.1, and sometimes (not all the time though) I can change the settings, but it still doesn't let me connect wirelessly. Like I said, I was told that it was the router and nothing else. Linksys said that they could connect me manually over the phone....for a fee, which I'm not exactly a fan of. After I told them no thanks, I was hung up on. Anyways, any thoughts or ideas short of going out and dropping more money on a new router? This one's only a year old, but is already "incapatible" with my platform. Thanks for reading.
Oh, and just a sidenote, I did go to the Linksys website to try an download the software for the router (which I know I shouldn't need), out of desperation. When I try to open the the program, it doesn't work, and just says "Setup is damaged and can't be opened. You should eject the disk image", with the options of "cancel", or" eject disk image", which does absolutly nothing. Please help.

Try turning it on and then off again. If it continues, here are two troubleshooting article, but I'm not sure anything in them will help:

  • Linksys E1200 Router not saving Port Forwarding changes

    Hi!
I am currently attempting to port forward on my Linksys E1200 Router and am not succeeding in saving my settings. I am attempting to open port 25565 though both Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding, and whenever I click the "save settings" button, I receive a full window message stating that my changes have been saved. Upon clicking this, I return to the previous screen whereupon my changes have been erased and my port has not been forwarded. Can anyone assist me with this? I've searched for hours through forums and tech help websites, but I can't find anyone else with this issue.

Hi there. You can try another browser or a different computer. If it is the same thing, upgrade the firmware of the router. You can refer to this link on how to http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=0a6881b90224439b92c8d8f19ca42e5d_21511.xml&pid=80&...

  • Vizio smart Tv won't stay connected to my linksys e1200 while playing Netflix

I have a Vizio Smart TV and just over the last couple of days I cannot seem to get it to stay connect to my Linksys e1200 router.  I will start a movie on Netflix and it will play for about 10 minutes and then disconnect.  I talked to somebody in Cisco Linksys Customer support and they said that the problem had something to do with IP Addresses.  I have no idea what he was talking about.  All I know is last week I could watch an entire movie without losing connection and this week it only stays connect for 10 minutes and then I have to turn the TV off to re-connect.
    Ideas?
    Thanks

Umman, is your Smart TV wirelessly connected to the router? There may be an interfering wireless signal in the area that interrupts the connection. Try changing the router's wireless channels to avoid interference.
Here's an article that may help.

  • LInksys E1200 Wireless router is not responding after a while

Hi there, I have E1200 wireless router and it was working nicely for the whole last year with 2 mac laptops hooked up on it. About 2 months ago there were 1 mac,1 win laptop and a network printer. And again, it was working just fine at the beginning. I'm not sure when exactly it happened first, but now after working couple of hours internet gets off and router stops responding. If I try to reconnect to it from my laptop I just see an error message saying something about "Connection timeout". Also I don't know does it have something to do with the network printer, btw it's connected to the router via ethernet cable not wireless. Anyway, the only solution I've found so far is power off the router for a couple of secs and power it on again, which is obviously not a solution at all, it's annoying and not practical. The time it works fine before it dies is also not fixed, it might be even 10 hrs of working and sometimes only 1-2 hrs. My other suspicion is firmware. I upgraded it almost at the same time when new laptop and printer showed up. Maybe I have to downgrade it, but I couldn't find older version of it. It was HW v. 1, SW v.1.0.00, and now it's HW v.1, SW v.1.0.03. I'd highly appreciate if someone could help me out or at least show me direction where to dig in. Thanks.

It seems that router is intermittent. I suggest you observe your internet connection without the router which means connecting the computer to the modem (if you can) to isolate if your modem's internet connectivity is okay or stable. Upgrading the firmware to the latest is actually okay. Try to reset your router back to factory defaults by pressing its reset button found at the bottom for 10 seconds. When you do reset by the way, it will delete all the current settings that you have especially for the wireless. But you can take note of them before you reset the router. After the reset, you have to get the internet up and running again. You may refer to  the links below on how to get it up and running again for wired and wireless internet.

  • My Linksys E1200 wireless router stopped working

Hi, my Linksys E1200 wireless router stopped working. When my checked my network it said "Limited Connection." However, when I connect my ethernet cable directly to the modem my internet works fine.
Can someone help me with this?

    @JeffNewYork
Are you getting that error hardwired to the router? Or wireless? Since the internet is working directly to your modem, you may need to reset and reconfigure the router depending on the settings from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

  • Linksys E1200 as AP

I have a Linksys E1200 set up as a AP, cable to a lan port, DHCP turned off, fixed ip assigned to router.
This seem to cause several issues:
    1. I cant seem to get the routers clock to work, under Status-> Router it just states:
    "Current Time:  Not Available"
    2. The Access Policy functions/Parental controls does not seem to have any effect at all
I am assuming both these issues are because the device was never designed to be used as a AP. I can attach the cable to the internet port instead and set it up as a normal router that feeds from the primary, with a diferent subnet, dhcp etc. but does anybody know how to make clients that connect to the wifi router reach my "real" LAN thats managed from the primary router? I mean for things like printing etc.

    Hi,
I think you might need to reconfigure your E1200.
I have my Linksys E1200 router cascaded to another Linksys router as wireless extension of my network.
I followed these steps I found from Linksys website.
    Cascading Linksys Routers
The reason why the router clock and access policy are not functioning is because you disable the DHCP server. I do agree that a router is designed as a DHCP server device with Wireless transmitter.  Disabling the DHCP server and the NAT is possible if you do the LAN to LAN connection. If your first device is a cable modem, then you might consider using the E1200 as a wireless router. But if you have another Linksys router aside from the E1200 then you can set the first device as primary router then use the E1200 as wireless access point.
Once I followed these steps from Linksys site, I improved my wireless coverage in my network.
I hope that this will assist you in setting up your e1200.

  • Linksys E1200- Loading administration page frequently requires router reset

    Hello,
I am using a Linksys E1200 router and I've found that in order to load the administration page (192.168.1.2) through a connected computer (wireless OR copper) I frequently (~95% of the time) need to reset the router first.  Otherwise my browser will time-out attempting to connect.  This is the case when other internet activity is functioning OK.  The login/password prompt does not appear in the cases where the admin page is not loading.
Any ideas on why this may be happeneing and how I may be able to correct it?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I recommend doing the following: Download the FW file from the support site first.
    1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
    2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
    3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
    4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way.
    PC Web Browser Configurations
    What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
    Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
    Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
    Enable phishing and malware protection

    Hi!
I'm really deceive by my Linksys E1200...   If I dont use internet for few days, internet stop working (tablet, computer, cellphone, etc...).  Even with my old computer directly connected to the router with a cable.   To make it work again, I need to unplug and replug the power cable of the E1200 ...    I'm tired of that!!!!
I'm correctly updated (2.0.06)  If you can't help me I will change the router and It will not a Sisco product...
I found this comment on an other thread and I really think I'm experiencing the same issue. :

I've seen the same problem with the E1200.  It was issued to my by my cable company (RCN) and I need to power cycle it every few days.
I think it has something to do with dhcp renumbering or renewal, but not sure.
I updated to 2.0.06 but that didn't help.
I'm just going to switch to a different router.
    Best Regards

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6 is recommended.
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.
For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.
If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm and http://cognitiveanomalies.com/cisco-nat-how-nat-works/. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Also check the routers DHCP IP address maybe conflicting with the ISP modems IP address of 192.168.0.1. Check to see if this is the same on the ISP modem, and if modem can't be bridged, change the DIR router to 192.168.1.1 or .0.254.
I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

  • Cisco Linksys E1200 Router says ethernet cord is not connected

    Hello,
I first had issues when there was a large thunderstorm that passed through the area. Lightning struck in my complex, and caused a large powersurge to go through my building. My router is plugged into a surge protector so I figured that it would be okay. The internet was out for a few days, and I only realized it came back when I plugged the ethernet cable directly into my laptop.
I have tried unplugging the router and waiting for a few minutes, then plugging it back into the power sources, then plugging the ethernet cable back in. To no avail, the internet is still unavailable to me wirelessly. I have tried different ethernet cords with no success. I reset the device to factory settings and have tried to set it back up with the CD and still no success; it does not recognize that the ethernet cord is plugged in.
I've had this router for about 2 years now and never had any problems till now. What can I do to fix it, if anything? Or do I need to just get a new one? Thank you!

Power surge blew the Internet Port on the router. In this senario the power surge came in via the ethernet internet connection as well. You will have to replace the router.

  • Computer freezes when watching videos (or video calls) since I bought a new router linksys E1200

    Hello!
Since I've bought a new Cisco router last summer,, a Linksys E1200 (v.1 updated...) (always in the wireless mode), my laptop (Sony, Vaio VGN-NW110D) freezes when I stream videos online or when I use skype video calls. It sometimes freezes for a few minutes (in that case it's just really extremely slow and it sounds like a satanic robot), and then comes back (but does it again a few minutes later. Or sometimes, and this is more frequent with skype video calls, it completely freezes, and I have to reboot the hard way...
This never happened to me before and I've been watching videos and video skyping for years. I have windows 7, service pack 1 (32 bits) now . I have windows 7 now, since about the same time I bought the router. But what makes me think its related to the router is that when I'm at work, or at my parents, or sisters, or boyfriend's house, this problem does NOT occure.... Do you think you could help me? This is getting really annoying! I would really appreciate it! :-) Thanks a lot!
ps-Oh and I don't know if this information could be relevant, but this does not happen when I make videos calls with skype on my iphone

You can try the following combination of settings:-
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your routers main/ basic setup page). Here is the link for determining and setting up the correct MTU size: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the user name field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
