Linksys E2000 (2 Xbox 360's and 1 PS3) Open Nat Problem

Hi everyone,
I recently bought the Linksys E2000 for my house so i could enjoy wireless internet. The problem is i have two Xbox 360s which one is wired and the other wireless. It seems that i can't have both Xboxs with OPEN NAT and whichever one connects to the router first is the one to have OPEN NAT no matter what. This leaves the other Xbox with MODERATE or STRICT. Is there a way to have both open at the same time? If anybody knows help would be appreciated! Thanks
**I have a PS3 also connected wirelessly, but that one is always OPEN. Didn't know if that would affect my PS3's NAT if i were to change the setting on my router.

Here's a checklist. Got it here.

Yes, you have the ports connected backwards.
The WAN port is labelled with the "circle of dots" icon, and must be connected to your DSL modem.
The LAN port is labelled with the "double-headed arrow" icon, and that is where you connect ethernet cabled devices on your LAN.
See Apple's article AirPort Base Station: About the WAN and LAN Ports
What is surprising is that you haven't previously run into all sorts of problems with your existing setup. Once you cable things properly, you will likely have to power down your DSL modem and Base Station for a while (sometimes just an instant, sometimes overnight). After waiting, plug the modem into power and wait a minute. Then plug the base station into power and wait for it to restart.

  • Open NAT problems with Xbox One .

When I first got my 1900ac I used Media Priortization to get an open NAT for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare on my Xbox One ; prioritizing the Xbox . It worked fine for about 6 months until I changed cable/net provider to Nextech in Ks. This company uses the 1900ac to hook up it's system for all it's customers ( since I already had one they're using mine ). Unfortunately I'm unable to get an open NAT in this game anymore ; I've tried just about everything , NAT forwarding , triggering , Media Prioritization . Nextech support & Xbox Live support , useless . Tried Portforward . com , nothing . Forwarding port 53 cuts off net connection & doing the static ip change for Xbox didn't help . Almost everything I've looked at seems out of date & I'm at my wits end . It would seem by now Linksys should have solutions available , any ideas ?

Thank you chin_pamz13 for your response . I tried to check if my modem had a public or private ip address but I'm not sure how to do that ; I've read about double NAT's elsewhere . Regardless , I think I've finally found a solution that seems to be working so far . I went to the website " tech - recipes . com " & found an article , " Xbox One open NAT " by Aaron St. Clair . I tried his first suggestion about port triggering , with extra ports I had'nt seen before . That did not work for me so I followed his instructions for putting the Xbox in the DMZ & it's working ! I think my problems from before were the result of improperly setting up the static ip address for my router & Xbox . Previous instructions had me changing the ip in the console along with the router ; Aaron said not to do so in the Xbox , let the router do the work it's supposed to do & make sure the settings in the console are on automatic . In the router at the DMZ , I was'nt sure how to proceed , but at the bottom is a section labeled DHCP reservations list ; clicked on that , saw XboxOne , clicked on that & it filled out the MAC address above for me . Then I went to the Xbox network settings , advanced settings & clicked " automatic " at ip address , subnet & DNS . I checked mutiplayer connections & did the " hold bumper & trigger buttons " trick & finally got an open NAT ; fired up CoD Advanced Warfare & got the open NAT there also . I may have screwed up when I did the port triggering but since the DMZ fix seems to work I'm going to leave things alone . Hope this helps others with open NAT problems .

  • Linksys E3000 Wireless Router, Xbox 360, 5GHz and 802.11n

Please could someone help - I'm tearing my hair out!!
When I set up a 5GHz 802.11n or mixed a/n SSID, my XBox can't connect to it, even with security disabled.  It just says can't connect to wireless network.  It can connect to a 2.4GHz SSID as 802.11g (not n).  I've already reported the issue to Microsoft and also tried all the obvious things (I work with computer networks) and nothing works.  It can see the network after a scan and, if I disable security, it will even warn me that security is disabled, but it just can't connect.  Tried everything I can think of, including different channel widths, channels, USB ports and static IP configuration, to no avail.
    Here are the details:
    Router firmware version: 1.0.04
    XBox version: Elite
NIC: Microsoft Wireless N Network Adapter (black, two antennae)
I've reported the issue to Micrsoft Support and they're not sure what the problem is either.

Maybe it's a compatibility issue. You and this guy have the same issue. But I'm not sure if you guys have the same adapter.

  • Time Capsule, hardwired to TWO xbox 360's, and NAT issues.

    Hello All,
I currently have an older Linksys WRT54G (version 1.0 LOL) which has been working fine for years. I recently bought my son an XBOX 360 for Christmas and we went through the issues of NAT and Call of Duty, and basically I have become quite knowledgeable on this topic. I recently added a SECOND XBOX 360, as it became apparent that one would not do with three boys in the house (Plus COD is a blast on line).
So I created a second Live Account and got the two xbox's running online stably with NAT wide open on both. This required abandoning the Linksys Firmware and installing "Tomato" on the WRT54G. That works GREAT. No modifications were required for the rest of the network including...
Macbook by Wifi, Minimac Hardwired (ya ya wifi works but hardwire is better), Airport Express (used only to stream music to stereo in family room - from ANY PC/MAC running Itunes...Itunes is VERY NICE), HP printer with network adapter, 5 other PC's including a mix of VISTA, XP, XP Pro, and multiple IPHONES, A Palm Tungsten C, WII, DS and of course the two hard wired XBOXs. NO Problems. The Tomato configuration only required the modifications for the XBOXs specifically as the rest of the network settings were not change after the firmware update.
What am I interested in? I'd like to upgrade to a Time Capsule for several reasons. One Newer wifi, faster, two frequencies, backup space for growing Mac branch of our network, and as the internet sharing router. AND to be able to access the TC from the internet for file access anywhere! LOVE THAT FEATURE. This requires the TC to be the first device after the cable modem as far as I can tell at this point. (any input on this specific feature would be great).
So I want to configure the TC with the input from the Cable modem as the main distribution of the internet. Then from the other NETWORK ports connect to my 20 port router for the rest of the house, as well as to the other items currently connected at the site of the current LinkSys Router (Mac Mini, Sony TV).
Also I need to maintain the current XBOX set up with (as well as Wii) with full open NAT on both XBOXs.
My question: Anyone here currently using the TC for hardwired connectivity for an XBOX with XBOX live running with open NAT for TWO XBOXs?
The issues with NAT and TWO XBOXs is that you cannot simply use PORT FORWARDing or PORT Triggering to make sure that the traffic goes to the correct xbox. The XBOX uses specific communication ports and the ROUTER needs to keep the traffic flowing properly or you get disconnected or never get open NAT (must have for XBOX live and internet gaming). There are many write ups on using Port Forwarding for one XBOX and setting the second one in the DMZ, but this does not work all the time.
The "Tomato" firmware on the LINKSYS allows fooling the router into giving a 'pseudo static' ip address to the XBOX's by doing MAC address based reservation of an IP number and then letting the DHCP give the xbox an IP address. The MAC address based reservation makes sure that the XBOX always gets the same IP address which for some GD reason must be in order for the traffic to be routed to the correct device. (you can of course use the same MAC address reservation for any device on the network).
Second Question: For those using the TC AND a second WiFi Router to do WIRELESS connection to the XBOX - which device do you have configured as the main INTERNET sharing router? I have read hear what appears to state that the TC is the main router and the other WiFi the secondary. Thus the ROUTING is still being done by the TC and the other wifi device is being used simply as a WiFi Access point/switch. If this is the case would the firmware on the TC allow the proper routing for TWO XBOXs on the network?
    Thank you,
    Mike

The ports are 53, 80, 88, and 3074. Since you are trying to make two Xbox consoles use those ports and you are trying to connect to a server, what you need to do is to use Port Range Triggering. You can't use Port Range Forwarding since it will only set those ports into listening mode to the IP address you set it. So if you use Port Range Forwarding it will only be open/available to one console(the one using the IP address).
You need to use PORT RANGE TRIGGERING. Disable Port Range Forwarding and DMZ. You need to enable UPnP as well if your Linksys router have this option (other model doesn't have this option but it is said to be enabled in default settings according to their tech support).
To solve the lag problem set your MTU size to 1364. This settings will work even if you have one or multiple consoles running behind the router.

  • Xbox 360 live and Macbook

Ok, this is my situation...I just got an xbox 360, and I will be moving into a college dorm at FSU in August. I have a macbook with only mac os x on it right now. What are all the requirements and everything I need to obtain full acces to xbox360 live from my dorm? (Do i need to use bootcamp for windows, what kind of netowkring, etc?) Thank you so much for the help.

You'll need to turn Internet Sharing on your MacBook. Go to: System Preferences/Sharing/Internet
Choose: Share your connection from Airport, and put a check mark on the port that in the list below. Then plug your Xbox 360 with a network cable into the Macbook. You'll probably need a network crossover cable. You can pick up a Network Crossover cable at most computer stores.
How is your dorm going to be setup? Is there going to be a Network (Interent) port in the wall so you can plug your Macbook into it? Or is it totally wireless?
If there's a port in your room, you can go out and spend $20-$50 on a 4 port network hub. You plug a cable from the wall into the Uplink port on the hub. Then you can plug your Macbook and your Xbox 360 with separate cables into the hub.
If it's a wireless dorm, you can purchase the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter. Hopefully the wireless network in your dorm is using WEP security or no security at all. If it's using WPA2 security, you'll be in trouble because the Xbox 360 wireless adapter doesn't support WPA2 security. All this might be over your head, but the more information you can get the better chance we can help you.
    Hope that helps,
    AL

  • E3000 and Xbox 360 5Ghz and Wireless N issue

    Hello everyone,
Bought the E3000 a couple of weeks ago, and I'm pretty pleased thus far. I do have one issue with it though, my Xbox 360 has a wireless N adapter and should support wireless N and 5Ghz dual band, but it does not see this network. It only spots the 2,4ghz one. Have the latest firmware installed, but it didn't seem to fix the problem. I just read that this router could have some issues with this.
Once it connects to the 2,4 Ghz network though, it says it's connected by using wireless G.
Anyone got a solution for this?
    Thanks!

The problem is your router, cisco needs to update the fimware to be compatible. There is nothing you can do to get it to work, except to switch the router out with a different name brand and it will work. This is a problem with their biggest flag ship router Cisco E4200 as well. You will not be able to connect to 5Ghz N nor 2.4Ghz N, only can connect to 2.4Ghz  G or 5 Ghz A with or without security This has been going on for awhile with cisco.

  • Xbox 360 Controller and Call of Duty 4

I bought the Xbox 360 controller with the receiver and installed the driver on the Mac. The driver recognizes it wonderfully in System Preferences. Now, is there any way to use this device to play Call Of Duty 4? (for Mac... naturally).
Has anyone been able to do so?

I'm trying to find the same answer myself. Any luck? I called tech support and they said the game doesn't support it, but to look for a keyboard emulator program. You can view a thread I started here http://gamermodzforum.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?p=10412#10412 regarding this same issue.

  • Question about port forwarding 2 xbox 360s to get rid of NAT on one of them

I have a xbox 360 with the official xbox 360 wireless antenna that is already set up for port forwarding and my NAT is fine.  My brother has a xbox 360 and he has a NAT problem but he doesn't have a official xbox 360 wireless antenna, he hooked up his laptop to his xbox 360 via ethernet cable and is using his laptops wireless card for the connection and he gets a NAT error when he tests his connection to xbox live.  Is it possible to port forward 2 xbox's?  I'm sure I have to set up some type of static IP for him but the thing is that I'm not sure what IP address to assign to him.  If it is possible, would he have to use a static IP address on his laptop since he's using that for a wireless connection?  If this is at all possible could someone post some step-by-step instructions on how I should set this up?  Below I will give you what I have set up for my xbox 360 to open up my NAT I just want to know what static IP I can use for him.  Can I use just any numbers?
In my port forwarding tab in my wireless modem I have the following:
and in my xbox i have the following settings:
    IP address: 192.168.1.20
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Primary DNS: 4.2.2.2
    Secondary DNS: 192.168.1.1
I have all that entered for myself and my xbox NAT is open.  I just need to set up his xbox if it is at all possible.  Please help!!!
P.S. My router is a WRT54GS v2.0 with updated firmware, just incase you need that info.
Message Edited by nourotherleft on 01-08-2009 03:20 PM

ok that still didn't help me.... he still has a NAT problem.... I don't....I went to port triggering and added the ports that you described but it didn't open his NAT... If the connection is going through his laptop(acting like the xbox 360's wireless antenna) wouldn't either his laptop or his xbox need a static ip? because I had to set up my xbox manually with the following addresses:
    ip: 192.168.1.20
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    default gateway: 192.168.1.1
    primary dns: 4.2.2.2
    secondary dns: 192.168.1.1
so in essence wouldn't his laptop need to be configured with some kind of static ip or something? because if he puts in what I just stated into his xbox it wont connect at all because I guess the ip's are conflicting....so what do I do now?

  • ITunes will not open in Windows 7 for one User. All I get is the Licence Agreement pane and when I click YES nothing further happens. I have set up a second user and iTunes opens without problem in that User window.

Clearly something is blocking the main user(administrator) from opening the iTunes programme and I cannot find a solution.

Many thanks for your reply. Yes I carried out the suggested procedure in safe mode , which did not resolve the issue and so this is what led me to set up a second User account. iTunes opened without problem in this second account and so I looked at the User-specific troubleshooting but I just could not locate the iTunes Preference files no matter how much searching I did.
I also tried uninstalling and re-installing but the problem persists. Would be very grateful for any further advice.

  • Xbox 360 LIVE and Airport Extreme Base Unit

    Hi,
I can get my XBOX Live Wireless unit to connect to my AEB. However, when I play COD4 (Call of Duty 4) to test the connection it is extremely laggy. I also get a lot of drop-outs...
Is there still not a fix for Airport Extreme -> XBOX Live Wireless Connector Compatibility?
I have 2 xboxes. One connects via a wired Ethernet connection to my Time Capsule, this works fine. However the other one which has to be wireless just seems way to laggy..
At present I have bridged my old Wireless g Router which is a waste of elecricity as far as I am concerned.

I have mine being run wired to my AEBU. Before I bought it I was online trying to find reviews on it for the Xbox. I did come across some wireless workarounds. If you goggle it, I want to say that the router either runs wireless a/n or wireless b/g, like you have to change it to wireless b/g, I'm not %100.

  • Hyperlink navigation and f3 open declaration problem

    Hi:
I am having an issue in FB4 where some classes are not accessible through hyperlink navigation (Command-Space) or Open Declaration (F3). The classes ARE available through Open Resource (Shift-Command-R) and the project compiles fine when I use them.
What's especially strange is that only SOME of the classes in each packager are available, but some are not. And the same holds true for auto-complete, i.e. if I begin an import statement, not all of the classes will not be available for auto-complete.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Mark,
I am using the "url" property (under Behavior section). If you select the "..." for this property, it will prompt you for a page to navigate to. I selected my page, then edited the value to include any parameters to pass to the page. Example:
    /faces/PageXYZ.jsp?param_name=This is a Test
If you have input variables to pass to the page, then you probably have to resort to javascript. I hope this helps. It's kind of a pain - it would be really nice to use the page navigation features of JSC.

  • Time Capsule and Unexpected Double NAT problem

I have had a Time Capsule setup and working fine for about 2 weeks. The Time Capsule is the only router on my network and connects to a Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem which as far as I know has no router capabilities and serves up the IP address that it gets from Comcast.
All of a sudden this morning I get a "Double NAT" error message in my Airport Utility window. I cannot figure out any reason for this to happen, since the Motorola Surfboard doesn't act as a router at all.
What is going on? Is this a bug in the Airport Utility software or what?

I'm having this same issue. Resets, hard resets, and unplugging the ISP antenna did not resolve it. I was using an old AEBS G as my DHCP server, with the TC patched into it in bridge mode.
Today, I decided I wanted the TC to be the DHCP part of the network, and the AEBS G as the bridged AP, but it just won't work no matter what I do. The TC is now getting the WAN from my ISP's wireless antenna, which I'm pretty sure has no NAT capabilities. My ISP does block ports, though, and maybe that's what's confusing the TC.
Connectivity is all good, everything works, I just have this Double NAT error that I can't get rid of.
    Any ideas?
