Linksys EA6400 - PPPOE issue

I have the following problem with my router : The ISP provides 500mb/s and my router only outputs on wire or wireless 200-230mb/s.
The set up :
1) Router Linksys EA6400
     firmware : 1.1.40.160989
2) Network cable : Gigabit
3) Wireless adaptor : Linksys WUSB6300
4) PC : i5 4690 ; 8GB RAM 2400MHz ; SSHD 1 TB; Motherboard Gygabite Z97
5) Connection on router PPPOE ; ISP : RDS Romania.
ISSUE : I always get no more than 230mb/s on tests (www.speedtest.net; or other tests sites and benckmarks) wired or wireless I have the same speed “limit”. The ISP came and tested my connection and on the router INPUT (internet) I have 500mb/s no fluctuations.
Also I have drops on wireless after a couple of hours of continuous internet traffic.
What I have tried :
Rebooting router
Factory reset
Firmware downgrade and upgrade again
-Nothing worked
Does the router have conflicts with the PPPOE connection ?
Might the router be broken ?
Please help me with this issue.

Hi,
@chadster766 : I have tried also these setting but no improvement.

When tested NOT in rush hour, and get @500mb/s from ISP wired , the results from the router wired/wireless are @250mb/s.
You can see from the results that ISP @400mb/s , the output from the router it's @150mb/s , it's somehow truncated.
What other settings could I try before sending this router to warranty  or customer protection?
Maybe the high speed PPPOE connection it's not supported by this router ?
Kind regards.

  • AirPort Extreme PPPoE issues after disconnect

    Hi all...
I seem to have an issue with my AirPort.... Brand new, out of the box, I plugged it in and it worked using my old configs (It replaced a Linksys WRT54G) and all was well. I unplugged it when there was a lightning storm coming ( I am on wireless broadband so I have a dish on my roof for the net... did not want it to fry another router... this has happened 3 times even with an APC in line with the ethernet cables). After the storm passed, I plugged it back in and voila... unable to find PPPoE server. Now, the only way I can connect is to connect it through the old Linksys box ( it goes from the dish to the Linksys box set to PPPoE always on to the AirPort via Ethernet). I have performed a hard reset and manually configured it, however it still does not find the AirPort....Any suggestions?

Spent 8 hours last night with same issues. All issues really started after the update. I had just bought the new dual band, set up was smooth, then all **** broke loose after the X.1 update. A couple of things I noticed. 1) Same issues you had that if the computers sat, it took a good 5 minutes to get the network up again or "see" it 2) I use comcast and I have noticed that the dynamic is causing issues between the AE and modem (post update) 3) Every time I try to change settings on the AE to add Guest network, the whole network crashes and I have to go to complete hard boot, reset AE and do power start all the way out. 4) Comcast rep had me power cycle all of my hard wire gigabit routers off the AE. I was having issues until I did this. Apparently the AE keeps IP if you feed routers off of it. Going to revert to 7.4 right now.

  • Linksys WRTP54G DNS issue

I have reviewed and tried HOURS of suggestions on this site regarding WI-FI DNS issue ie. "can't find the server" message. This appears to be Router model problem/resolution. Does anyone know the specific fix to get the ITouch to work with an linksys WRTP54G Router. General comments and fixes are not needed, only the one specific for this router. Thanks.

Don't give up on the iPod Touch. It's one of the most remarkable devices ever invented.
Your router routes IP traffic. That's all you need. Your iPod should work with any router. Somewhere, there a configuration setting that is not right.
There is one other possibility, and that's that your ISP is doing something funny like using a proxy server. Unlikely but possible.
You need to attack this systematically. Like has been suggested, narrow down if it is a connectivity or a DNS issue. If you can get to a site by its IP address, then you have a DNS issue. If you cannot, then it is something set wrong elsewhere.
    Possibilities:
    - MAC filtering (you have ruled this out)
    - Encryption (you have ruled this out)
    - Is your router not giving out enough IP addresses? If you set the limit to 2 and you have 3 computers, someone will lose out.
    - Is your router correctly picking up its settings from your ISP (DHCP), or have you hardcoded some or all of it? Does your (working) PC have some of the missing bits hardcoded - for example, if your router doesn't have its DNS settings, but your IP settings on the PC have them hardcoded, the PC will work, but the iPod won't - unless of course you hard code them on the iPod as well
    - Have you inadvertently coded something into your router like a static route, a filter, , or configured a DMZ that is conflicting with the DHCP address that your iPod is getting?
    - Have you (or someone in your house) configured some access restrictions on the router, maybe for another PC in the house, like a child's PC?
If all of this is confusing, or something is really screwed up, you could always start form scratch, as if you just bought the router. There is a way to reset it to factory defaults (I believe holding the hidden reset button for a long time), then set it up correctly for your ISP again, and it should work for all computers, iPods, etc.
There is always the possibility that the Vonage firmware is somehow interfering. Do you use the Vonage features? You could always put in a more standard firmware.
Bottom line, it is far more likely that this is a setting on your router than the fault of the iPod. The iPod is just an every day IP device, and should work with just about everything. Do not give up on the iPod.

  • Linksys WVC554GCA Wireless Issue

    Hello,
I cannot connect wirelessly to my WVC554GCA camera. The wired connection works without issue. Here's my configuration:
    1. Security set for WPA/WPA2 personal. The same passphrase is used on the camera and airport extreme.
    2. A static IP was assigned to the camera by using it's MAC address.
    3. Port forwarding was setup on the router so I can view the camera from an Internet webpage (I also signed up for a DDNS service).
Everything works when the camera is plugged into the airport via Ethernet, but does not work when wireless. I cannot ping the camera, and it is not recognized in the Airport config tool.
Any help would be appreciated. If the camera cannot work wirelessly with the airport, I will have to return the airport to the store - which I do not want to do.
    Thanks for your help,
    Steve

Just an update..the camera model is actually WVC54GCA. It's the home monitoring camera listed here: http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=LProductC2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1175239651656&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisit orWrapper

  • Linksys EA6900 router issue

    Hi all,
I have a Linksys EA6900 router with firmware version 1.1.42(build 158863), and it has below issues:
    1) Connot access the router
    2) My devices can search the WIFI signal, but connot join it successfully.
    3) The internal network is working properly, but the internal user cannot access internet.
    4) DHCP is not working.
The issue can be fixed after I restart the router, but the problem comes again if it runs after a few weeks. Anyone has any ideas to resolve this issue? Thx!

Upgrade the firmware. The latest version is 161129 and sbould fix your issues. I suggest you follow this procedure:
download the file.from the linksys site to a pc that can be connected to the router by ethernet not wifi
do a factory reset by holding the reset button until the router reboots
Once the router is done booting login to the router locally and do the upgrade using the 192.168.1.1 and a browser.
make sure the auto update is NOT checked then do another factory reset.
once the router is again stable config it from scratch not from a saved file as there were some changes that you don't want to reintroduce to the new revsion.
You should be good after this. Let us know how it goes

  • 2811 w/ WIC-1ADSL-I-DG PPPoA issue

    Hello:
I have been trying to test our new office gear prior to move, specifically the DSL WIC card.
It seems I have all the config correct but I fail to negotiate link and I am not getting much info from a debug standpoint leading me to believe: -1- PPP isn't quite set up correctly -2- the WIC is possibly bad.
Would it be possible for someone to review my config since I can find nothing on the web that serves as a decent example of using this WIC card with Qwest?
    DETAILS:
Info pulled from my old Actiontec modem for testing purposes:
    VPI/VCI = 0/32
    DSL Mode = MMODE
    DSL Negotiated Mode = T1.413
    Up/down = 7168/896
    ATM QoS class = UBR
The connection is doing PPPoA, evidently it is using PAP per my ISP (qwest does the local loop, my own ISP the VC termination and routing)
    Cisco 2811 and WIC setup:
    interface ATM0/1/0
description QWEST DSL - circuit id:
    no ip address
    no ip mroute-cache
    shutdown
    no atm ilmi-keepalive
    dsl operating-mode auto
    dsl enable-training-log
    pvc 0/32
    encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer
    dialer pool-member 1
    interface Dialer1
    ip address negotiated
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    ppp authentication pap
    ppp pap sent-username <username_goes_here> password 0 <passwd_goes_here>
Additionally, it would be helpful if you provided what all the 'Modem States' are. For example, Modem state = 0x8 is in many docs but you don't say anything about 0x3. Its helpful to know all the codes for Modem state if your going to recommend doing debugs of atm events for troubleshooting. Hence, the post to the forum. I can't get link and everything appears to be set up properly.
    Thanks for the insight/answers.

No, I am afraid we don't do ADSL over ISDN. My boss ordered the equipment and I think the reseller wasn't too bright.
So would I be correct that I am going to have to have a WIC-1ADSL or a HWIC-1ADSL?
I see that this ADSL over ISDN card we have currently does support T1.413, but given I can't get link I am guessing that is only T1.413 when over ISDN so I have to use one of the other types of WICs listed above if this is over POTS.
If someone from Cisco or otherwise can confirm that would be great so I can go ahead and get the right card shipped to us ASAP.
    Thanks for the assist,
    -Jeff
Thanks for pointing that out. I suspected it might be the issue but have not ordered or touched many DSL WICs in my day, only the bigger chassis's that terminate the traffic on the provider end.

  • Linksys WRT54GS setup issues

Good day all and sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
I recently bought a computer off of a friend which came with a WRT54GS router, which I am having issues setting it up.
I have the setup disc version 6.0.  I get to about step 8 and I am asked for a password, whichIi never set up.  I have seen on here a few places that suggest the default is admin, but I am not sure if that is for a secure log in or the set up.  Any rate, admin doesn't seem to work.  I have looked elsewhere on the forum and found that i can hold the reset I can default the router's factory settings, but this doesn't help either.  If it is useful,I have also cleaned the drives and installed a new OS (WXP), so I don't believe it is any lingering PC password type of issue.  This is my first rodeo with a wireless setup, so any info that you all may have would be most helpful.  Thanks!

You don't have to use the CD to set up the router. Just configure it manually. Follow these links for instructions, depending on your Internet Service Provider:

  • Linksys WAP200 DHCP issues (acces point)

    Hello,
during installation of Linksys WAP200 we noticed the following two issues:
    a) The main problem consist of that AP (wifi access point) do not process DHCP request. Any DHCP request is not received when we had to used only one SSID and AP is in VLAN1 (the same problem is registered if are allowed VLANs to AP). Additionaly were created additional SSID - all is working properly.
    b) The second and more important problem if is required to make restart of AP or due to outage of electricity, again is not allowed to receive IP address from AP. When is second SSID deleted and again reconfigured is whole communication and functionality restored.
    Technical specification of AP:
    Model: Linksys WAP 200
    Firmware: 1.0.22-ETSI
    SN: MO200J500700, MO200J300921, MO200J300922, MO200J300923,MO200J300924, MO200J300925, MO200J300926, MO200J300927, MO200J300928
These enclosed network devices are used in LAN topology:
    RV082-EU, Linksys 10/100 8-Port VPN Router SRW224G4P-EU,
    Linksys SRW224G4P 24-port 10/100+4Port Gigabit Switch, PoE
    SRW248G4P-EU, Linksys SRW248G4P 48-Port 10/100+4-Port Gigabit Switch, Po
Do you have any idea where should by problem or we have to wait on new firmware ? :(
    Thanks for help and suggest.
    Pavol

    Hi Pavol,
As with the SRW series switches, the default VLAN (vlan1) is untagged.
VLAN2, VLAN3 and VLAN4 will  obviouslybe  tagged, so the WAP200 supports trunked VLANs.
I have been using WAP200's for both bridging in some applications and just in AP mode for other applications for a number of years, in conjunction with my SRW2008P switch.
But I have seen issues, where after a software upgrade.   I had to reset the AP back to factory defaults and create the configuration again.
    Firstly reset the WAP200 back to factory defaults and it still fails, I would suggest you call the wonderful folks at the Small Business Support Center (SBSC) in your country via the following URL;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
I must admit I am using the US software 1.0.22 and not the European software :D but it may just be a configuration issue you may have.
I did see software version firmware_wap200v1.0.22.2-ETSI for European countries, i am not sure if that is the software you are using.
    regards David

  • Linksys ea6400 problem

hello, i have an ea6400 linksys router. i am losing signal strength in my downstairs bedroom.which is right below my office where i have the router hooked into the modem. how can i get a consistent signal to my downstairs bedroom.thank you, harvey10ps same problem 2with my cell, only 2 bars and then one bar

Changing the router's wireless channel and relocating it at the central part of your house will help avoid possible interference in your network. Download the Wi-Fi analyzer app. It helps you to find a less crowded channel for your wireless router. If the connection will not improve, you may need to upgrade or reflash the router's firmware. Don't forget to reset and reconfigure it afterwards.

  • Ea6400 USB Issue

I just received and installed my ea6400 with a new 1 TB, WD Passport,  usb 3.0 drive that is connected to the router's usb port. What Does Work:I can copy files, and I can execute a sync to the drive from my Windows computer, using a backup program.  I can rename files and delete files without any issue. I can access and download files to my iPad using 3 different apps.  They have no problem seeing the drive and it's contents.  I have a Buffalo NAS drive connected to the router via ethernet cable and I am able to full access, manipulate download and upload files via my iPad apps What Doesn't Work:I cannot upload files from the iPad to the usb drive.  I get an error message Connection failed with FTP error 553. For some reason, I cannot upload to the USB drive. Is this a short-coming of this model router or is this drive there a setting that I need to make or change in the router setup.  It is so strange that the NAS drive is functioning perfectly and the USB drive is not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! Have you tried rebooting the router? Aside from checking the Folder Access settings, make sure also that the firmware of the router is up to date. To further isolate the situation, use another device to upload files to the USB drive.

When I put the superhub into modem mode and connect my EA6400, the line speed drops to 8 meg. have tested all the cables and all tested correct. these speeds are the same if I am wireless or wired
    Any help would be appreciated

    Media Prioritization:
Install the newly available firmware (download from support site)
    Enable Media Prioritization
    Enable WMM Support
Set Downstream\Bandwidth to the maximum value your ISP provides you. ## x 1024=##### value to enter into the Downstream box.

WMM Support must be enabled for single wireless N mode to function.

this worked for me.... go to your configuration... media prioritization.... settings.... wireless.... and turn off wmm support.... or just turn off media prioritization... got my expected speed after that... good luck...

  • Linksys Wireless Camera issues

When i install my linksys wireless Wvc80n wirelss camera I lose my wireless connection on my laptop to the internet itermittently until I unplug the camera then its back to normal.

That sounds, Most likely,  a wireless signa issue.
You can change that in the router.   open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1
user name is admin.  and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it. Once you login succesfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security.   then go to option 3 which is channel  1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try.
So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply.  after you hit apply,  test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6,     test it out.  and then finally 1 if the first two don't work.
Also take a look at page 2 of Actiontec's Wireless PDF File.  It gives you some idea's with regards to position and orientation of where the router sits and how it can best be positioned for maximum coverage.
      http://support.actiontec.com/doc_files/MI424WR_Rev(all)_Wireless_Networking_Guide.pdf
One of the channels (1, 6 & 11) will allow both to function fine.

  • WRVS4400N PPPoE issue after v2.0.2.1 firmware upgrade

Hi, I have a WRVS4400N v2 router which was working perfect until I've upgraded the firmware to v2.0.2.1. Since then, my router does not save anymore the PPPoE password so I am not able to connect. Does anybody know how can I fix this?

Simon, nothing succedeed. I've cleared the browser cache and also downgraded the firmware from v2.0.2.1 to v2.0.1.3. Basically the router does not save any password under PPPoE menu. I've reset it to factory default, same result.
After filling the password and saving, before router reboot, I see the connection type changing from PPPoE to Automatically connect - DHCP. I do not know if this mean anything or not. Do you have any other ideea?

  • OS X 10.4.6 and Linksys PPSX1 printing issue

I recently upgraded to Tiger from Panther with a couple of regrets, one of which is related to using a Linksys PPSX1 Etherfast Print Server. Under Panther I had successfully created a printer using LPD/LPR, naming a que and selecting my printer (an NEC SuperScript 1800 with a PostScript upgrade). The SuperScript has only a parallel interface (which is why I bought the parallel printer version of the Linksys Print Server).
I also have a Windows PC and I share an internet connection with the G5 using a Linksys Cable/DSL router (hard-wired, not wireless). The Windows machine can print to the SuperScript via the Print Server (which occupies a port on the Cable/DSL router) without a hitch. My G5 did too, under OS X 10.3 Panther. But Tiger refuses to allow me to set up a printer using LPR. It allows only the LPD option.
For their part Linksys is no help. They don't promise any functionality using a Mac. And ditching the SuperScript is out of the question. Even though it's 8 years old it's a magnificent printer: 1800 dpi and very fast.
    Help, please.

It's a lot easier than going to the Advanced menus...
When you click ADD, the first window that comes up is ususally the default browser box. At the top of that window there are two icons - the right one being IP printer. Click on IP printer and then you are given a pull-down with three TCP/IP protocol choices. Choose LPD from there.
Now for the harder part. On windows they have setup software - on OS X we have to handle details ourselves. The most common problem is not entering the print server's queue name for the IPP and LPD protocols. You can find the queue name in the print server manual. L1 lp, lpt1, etc are common queue names.
