Linksys EA6700 and DDNS

I bought a Linksys EA6700. I wonder why the Dynamic DNS service NO-IP is not supported. This is one of the best free DDNS providers. The two that support (DynDNS and TZO) both have no free accounts anymore.

I notice that for Linksys Smart Wifi routers, one cannot access the domain name when you are accessing it within the network. I suppose it is for security reasons that Linksys designed their newer router versions for that reason. You might want to check this link that I have shared also in another post, about DNS Rebinding:  http://blog.trendmicro.com/trendlabs-security-intelligence/protecting-your-router-against-possibl-dn....

  • Linksys and DDNS: no alternatives: dyndns / TZO or die ?

    hi all,
i`m rellay disappointed about linksys. dyndns and tzo now one company. Why is linksys not implemting freeware hoster or at least a field for custom implementation like others have ? What is the reason of your strategie ? the NSA to keep only USA hoster in your drop down menu ?
@ dd-wrt i have seen, WIP (work in progress) for EA2700. Is that the only on solution to wait, or have anybody any interims solution for me ? i want to connect Win7 workstation for remote access.

Installing a third party firmware for your Linksys router is not recommended and will void its warranty. I guess Linksys is doing their best to allow small business, associations and individuals to host a website, email system, FTP site and more, on their own servers at their own locations wether they have a static or dynamic IP address. Teaming up with TZO.com by far is the best resolution to ensure reliability.

  • Linksys EA6700, "Cannot find the DHCP server"

    Hello all
I have a Linksys EA6700 router that has given me problems the three months I've had it.
Typically I get the message "Cannot find the DHCP server" or no message at all. I have everything from three to eight PC's, SqueezeBoxes, Blu-ray players etc hooked up to it.
Very often one or several of these cannot find the server.
Is there an easy solution to this problem?
    Any help appreciated!

You can set static ip information on wireless devices that don't connect to other wireless networks.
Use software like "Wifi Analyzer" for andriod or "inSSIDer" for PC.
Make sure your wireless signals channels don't overlap with other strong wireless signals and space your wireless channels at least 3 or more channels apart.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Apple TV gen 3 not working with Linksys EA6700

Hello, I have Apple TV 3 with 5.3 Firmware connecting to Linksys EA6700 is so far impossible. It has always worked with a Technicolour 582n. No problems. But with this Linksys EA6700 Smart router no result of connecting. This is wireless as well with Cable. It stays stuck on Activation as well Setting date and Time. Which results into only Computers and Settings. Been in contact with Linksys. They don't want to burn their fingers on it, so no solution. Before I was able to use it with Firmware 5.02 but now I have tried to restore this and it is not accepting this and gives a fault. Did a wireless restore, did a cable restore, did a micro usb restore. Nothing, nix, nada, horror, horror ! Why is it that Apple TV is NOT working with Linksys routers ? After so many updates from Apple still no inclusion. What is the problem ? Tried also to set DNS server to 8.8.8.8 Disconnected everything, on and off, you name it. It can't be that difficult is it ? Why can't we manually activate and set the time and date by hand ? Something is wrong here. Does Apple refuse to talk to Linksys about this or do they just hate Linksys routers ? Further Linksys EA6700 is working great with every other hardware. Easy installation. No problem with Switches, Computers, Laptops, Ipads, Iphones, Android, ................... But not with Apple TV !

  • Linksys EA6700, range is bad. What can I do?

I really cannot seem to get any good answer from Linksys. Maybe some of you can help me out!
I recently bought the EA6700 to replace my socalled inferior NETGEAR RangeMax.
However: The Linksys EA6700 doesn't reach as far as the NETGEAR, far from. I pick up no signal in the garden, as I did before, not downstairs either.
I see there are lots of settings to try, but I didn't get any instructions along with the router. What is there to do in order to try to get a wider range?
Strange that I cannot find any information on this on Linksys' website.
    Best regards
    Jan
PS: I've asked this question before here, but didn't get any answer that helped.

Have you tried resetting your router and reconfiguring it manually? Do check also if you have the latest firmware. If not, you may upgrade it first, reset and power cycle, then reconfigure the router.

I'm looking for some help connecting linksys IP Cameras to my home network to monitor my property when I'm travelling.  I used to do this with linksys WAPS, but since I've discarded all my old linksys networking and standardized on airport, I can't get these things working.  I know that I have to identify my camera through the DHCP table and set up port forwarding and there is the problem.
My network consists of 4  base stations set up in a roaming network - same network name and passwords.  I need to do it this way so I don't have to switch network when I move from one side of the house to the other, go to the cabana, or my shop in the barn.  The network works pretty well since I went to a roaming set up.  Good performance, yata, yata, yata.
However, the roaming network requires the AEBS's to be set up in bridge mode, rather than sharing an ip address.  When the AEBS is set to  bridge mode, you don't see a DCHP table or have the ability to identify your IP Cam through the AEBS - and hence, no port forwarding.
I am able to identify and set up my Linksys IP Cam by locating the ip address on my FIOS router, even though, it's plugged into an AEBS.  I set it up, see the video, remove the ethernet cable from the IP Cam, restart - and I can't get to it from an AEBS.  In researching this, it appears, I should be setting up the AEBS to "share an IP Address", going to the DHCP table and identifying the camera's IP address and setting up port forwarding.  However, you don't see any of the DHCP or port forwarding options in Airport Network Utility when configuring in bridge mode.
I'm hoping I'm missing something here and that the solution isn't to set it up at the FIOS router level, but I'm beginning to think that's my only hope.  What concerns me there is that I should be able to see the IP cam on the network without port forwarding since I'm not coming from outside, and I can't even do this unless it's connected hard wire.
I'd appreciate any insight into this that anyone might have.  I've hit the wall with what I know.
    Thanks.

In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

Linksys EA6700 very very very weak Wifi signal
Anybody faced such issue with this immature router? I was using E4200, the signal was much better. I thought of upgrading to latest “high-end router”, unfortunately it is not an upgrade it is a rip-off. This router is not stable at all.
I will switch to NetGear, any recommendations?

  • I have an ipad first generation.  I am trying to connect to a linksys router and it is not finding the wireless network.  what do i need to do?

I have an ipad first generation.  I am trying to connect to a linksys router and the ipad is not finding the wireless network.  What do I need to do?  Thanks for your help.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Can't establish a network with Wireless-G Linksys router and Macs

I have a Wireless-G Linksys router and two Macs. My DSL cable is connected to the modem, the modem to the router w/Ethernet cable, and the router to a desktop Mac out of port 1. With this setup, I can usually -- not always -- connect to my wireless network with my PowerBook, but then the desktop Mac cannot connect to the internet. Either Mac connects to the internet when hooked up directly to the DSL modem. I have reset the modem. I have connected to the router's console and everything seems to be in order. The PowerBook can connect to the internet through the wireless router as described above, so there don't seem to be any Mac/PC incompatibility issues at work.My local gurus and my ISP are stumped. Any suggestions?

Then , Connect the MACINTOSH Computer to Port 1 or
Port 2 on the Router.Hope you are Online. Now,
Open a new Internet Browser Page, and in the address bar,

  • Linksys Router and Screen Sharing Problems

    Hello,
I know that problems with Linksys routers and ichat video/screen sharing have been covered here and there in this forum, but I couldn't find a definitive answer.
If I can connect find on a LAN between two Macs, but then get a connection error when attempting screen sharing/video over the internet, what settings should I change on the Linksys?
    Thanks in advance.

The Linksys Firewall is normally Off by default.
There are those that try Pinging IP addresses for various reasons.
A Malformed Ping (Ping of Death) can bring down your connection.
To a certain extent this does then become a question of whether you are a big enough target or if someone discovers your IP and tries to do anything about it.
Most will be looking for access to Windows computers so your Mac it that sense will protect itself.
In about 6 years on Broadband with a Constant On Connection none of the modems I have had have reported a a Ping attack and I have had thousands of contacts with people via iChat some of which will have my IP in their Logs.
    Significant Decrease ? No

  • Linksys E2500 and Mavericks wireless connection

Installed Mavericks and lost wireless connection with my linksys e2500.
Cisco connect says "unsupported operating system"  and "visit http://homesupport.cisco.com/linksys/support"
Cisco website does not address Mavericks OS

I'm having the same issue with my Cisco Linksys router.
I am unable to connect to the wifi network, or use the Cisco Connect application. As the application is the only way of adding and removing devices from the network, changing the password, and likely fixing this issue, I'm quite frustrated.
I phoned Cisco about this issue yesterday and they had no helpful information. They advised me to download the newest Connect software from their website, and stated this should fix the issue. I told them that I'd already attempted this solution, but their software has only been updated to include a compatibility fix with 10.8, and the issue is with 10.9. They then advised that I restart my computer. AKA, they would be no further help.
The Connect software is available for download here, so I hope that they release an update soon with a fix to this problem. The release notes under the latest update include a mention of the 10.8 compatibility fix, so I hope a 10.9 fix will be forthcoming.
The only solution in the meantime seems to be a complete restart and install of the router and software using a PC. And even this only works to correct the Cisco Connect issue, and likely not the main issue of actually using the wifi network with Mavericks. Regardless, I believe this is a Cisco/Linksys issue, and not an Apple issue.

  • Linksys Router and WHS 2011

I am looking at replacing my Netgear WNDR3800 router with a Linksys router. The Netgear 3800 router is NOT 100% compatible with WHS 2011.   I would like the new Linksys router and WHS 2011 to be compatible wtih each other.   When I say "compatible", I want the WHS 2011 to auto detect the Linksys router and automatically setup the configuration.   This would include the UPnP settings as well.
I am looking at the EA6500 router as a replacement.   Anybody use the EA6500 and WHS 2011?

The new EA6500 should be compatible with WHS 2011 and UPNP is enable by default so that's should be good to go. • WRT600N and DDNS

I have been notified by Dyndns.org that my WRT600N router is trying to update my account too many times when the IP address has not changed. This is what they told me. "Your account has been blocked for abuse. This action has been taken due to the receipt of multiple updates originating from the same IP address. Updates which result in no change to the host are abusive."
Has anyone had this problem with their router and the DDNS side of it? LINKSYS, look into this with your next firmware update!!!!
For the time being, I've turned the DDNS off in the router and gone back to a software based updater.
