Linksys issues should I just purchase apple router?

I am just about ready to push the push the purchase button on a macbook (2ghz 80gb) I have been a PC user up until now. My desktop is a PC and I intend to keep that one. I will use the macbook as my kitchen table laptop as a replacement for a PC laptop. Have read many horror stories with wireless interface btw macbook and linksys. Wondering if it would be best just to get apples router, if if get it will it work with my PC?? (I only use the wireless to transmit my cable internet signal), would like to keep the cable internet on both desktop and macbook

Apple's Airport base station will be by far the easiest to set up, but a standard router will not be that hard to work with either. I use a Netgear WRG614 in my mixed Mac/PC network and it works like a charm and cost all of $40.
As far as 802.11N goes, while it will provide better range and faster speeds along that range, it will do absolutely nothing to speed up your internet which will still be much slower than even the standard 802.11G can provide. Do not expect your downloads to be blazingly fast and they will probably be about the same speed they are right now.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't play music from the computer if there is none there. If you are using iTunes Match you should now be able to download and play all your music on the Apple TV from the music feature on the main page.

We have just purchased Apple TV and can't connect to Home Sharing. We have wifi, the iPad is updated. I can't find the link on ITunes on the iPad that the tv is telling me to click. I've also tried turning it on via settings then music which seems to be connected. I can view YouTube clicks on the tv, but not an app so I can watch the footy. What am I doing wrong.

Make sure your Apple TV is on the same network as your iPad. The SSID and password of router must be set in your Apple TV.

Thank you so much. Any specifics I should know about prior to connecting? The goal is to watch Netflix from my iPad or iPhone 5 on my tv (located in different room from where Comcast internet modem is hard wired to main computer in house). Movies would depend on wireless transmission to a smart tv not connected to modem.

the external Apple USB SuperDrive plugged in. •As a last resort, if nothing else, before a
return trip to be rid of the SuperDrive, you could try a system management controller reset.
The SMC reset is not a first choice, so I won't post a link to the support instruction page.
A new Apple USB SuperDrive should be seen as hardware in system information report.
Of course, an icon of disc media should appear once the disc is inserted into the drive, too.

You need OS X 10.8 mountain lion, mirror is a feature of that OS and you need to buy it from the app store, OS X 10.7.5 does not do it.
If you don't want to change visit www.airparrot.com a third party app that can do it.

Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

If you are streaming from your Mac then your internet speed would be irrelevant. This is done over the local network, and that is where the issue lies.
Reboot ATV and router
Make sure router is up to date
If Apple TV is connecting via wifi, connect with ethernet
Go to istumbler.net to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise

Maybe you set a CLASSPATH environment variable with too much stuff in it? (Or maybe JCreator did that all by itself, with some weird internal way of tracking the classpath.)

I just purchased Apple Protection pay for 69.99

Okay today I just brought apple protection for 69.99 and then i found out i had to pay 494.78 but they saying that 494.78 is on hold. I called my bank to see if its on hold they said only for 3 days then its going to pend which i dont want that to happen because apple said its on hold until they get my original iphone 4 for a new one im getting due to the jammed locked button. My thing is why did they charged me for 494.78 to begin with? Has this ever happen when trying to get a phone knowing you under warranty. I just extended my warranty I shouldnt pay 494.78 knowing its on hold for a few days. Will my 494.78 get back into my bank or do I have to do a dispute?

They didn't charge you. The explained already what they did, as you yourself say. They put a hold on your credit card in the amount of the replacement in the event that you do not return your original iPhone. The hold will be released when they receive your original iPhone. This is also explained very clearly in the information for the Express Replacement Service:
When you request Express Replacement Service, Apple places a reserve on your credit card for the Replacement Value of a new iPhone. This covers any damage to or loss of your iPhone that is not covered by Apple’s warranty or an AppleCare service contract and/or other payments that may be due. If the replacement of your iPhone is determined to be covered by Apple’s Limited Warranty for iPhone, you will only pay the ERS Fee shown in the table below. This fee is waived if your iPhone is covered by an AppleCare service contract.

Iphone battery issue - should i go to apple or live with it?

Having recently just said that I was not having troubles with my iPhone I've hit a problem actually that is a bit frustrating, and I'm wondering if its worth going to apple with this problem, and if so should I do anything before hand, Im based in the UK....
The battery has been fluctuating between brilliant and non-existant. I always run it way down, then charge it fully at every charge. However for example, yesterday I charged it fully. Used the ipod function for an hour in the day then when I got home I received a phone call. The phone call lasted 20 minutes, however I then got a 10% warning. I left to phone battery to die completely and it still hadn't this morning. About 10am it did die so I put it on charge. Its now 1.30 and when I went to look at how much the battery had charged, it was still red, so seemingly had received no charge. I then ejected it and put it back in and now its charging pretty quickly.
The problem is when it first did this about a month back I thought it just need resetting to reset the battery indicator. However its happening pretty much all the time, and no matter how many resets I do I get similar issues.
The worrying thing is every no and then it works really well, i.e. I charge it and without much use manage to get 3 days out of it.
Does this sound like an issue, its a bit annoying and if so should I pop in and see if I can get a replacement from apple?

In this instance, Im on my MacBook but the MacBook does not sleep (I have sleep turned off and the power turned on for the mac) the only thing that does come on is the screensaver so I imagine its probably not that.
As I say it was in for a few hours while I worked on it today, went to check the phone and noticed it had not charged. However its now been in about 10 minutes and seems about 75% charged, almost as though it did charge earlier, but it decided not to realise.
Then the second issue is that many times it will be around 80% charged at a guess. Used for an hour to listen to one album at work, then take one phone call lasting about 20 minutes and it was drained to within 10% and a warning was displayed. It seems to be the phone call that drained it. I must admit I don't use the phone that much for phone calls, I send a lot more text messages and use the ipod. I use about 100 minutes a month in total on phone calls.

What exactly are you trying to do. You can use homesharing to view content from iTunes on a computer or AirPlay to view content from an iOS mobile device.

TS2972 I just purchased Apple TV, but when it goes to connect to my computer, I either get a message that says "make sure iTunes is on" or it says that it cannot connect to my computer.

So, this issue I have is that I can connect my iPad 3 to my home sharing network through iTunes, and my iPad can also connect to mirror on Apple TV. I have no idea why Apple TV cannot connect to my home sharing through iTunes. I have downloaded the latest iTunes, and everything else seems to be working the right way. Any help that anyone can give would be great. So far I am not that impressed with Apple TV. I thought it would be a plug and play and things would be great, but this it turning into a nightmare!

I assume that you did not check before buying, if you had you would have seen that your Mac is too old for Airplay Mirroring to work:

And if you bought ML solely for that function you should remove it from your machine and get a refund.

Just bought Apple TV and music was playing through it but now nothing and just watching the hourglass going round and round

We have just purchased Apple TV and gone through the set up as per manual. At first everything was fine but now the music has stopped playing and we are just looking at the hourglass all the time - frustrated !!

It has lost connection with your home network.
If this continues you may meet to update or replace your router if it is old..
Hopefully it is just a power blip.
