WMP200 and WMP54G Wi-Fi PCI cards  installed on PC.
My infrastructure is WLC 2106 and two APs 1231G and one 1242G.
The problem is that the cards have problem with connection to WLAN.
The broadcast SSID must be enable then the cards connect to WLAN otherwise is a problem with connection.
When the card is connected but connection is unstable and poor.
The cards have the newest firmware installed.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
Kamil

Hi Kamil,
Have you associated other types of clients with these AP's?  If so, do they perform better?
You might want to start by checking the status of the poorly performing client on the controller while it's connected:
monitor -> clients
You'll primarily be interested in the RSSI and SNR. The other counters such as 'excessive retries' should be observed as well.
Also check the AP's radio interface stats.  Check for excessive interference or channel utilization.
This is a very helpful doc that you may want to check out:
Unified Wireless Network: Troubleshoot Client  Issues

Let us know if any of this helps.

  • Broken sound card, Can i install a pci card and get sound

I fried my internal sound card plugging up my mixer through my headphone jack. I have a mirror door, dual 1 ghz prossesors. Can i just install a m-audio pci card and get my sound back. i hope so. thanks.

The answer is yes, though there seems to be very few Mac compatible sound cards. This is probably because Macs always came with sound built in. The exceptions are the Xserve which have no sound section. I have a dual 1.33GHz G4 Xserve that I have fitted with a M-Audio Audiophile 192 PCI card. This works well but is expensive new (I got mine used). My only complaint (as a general purpose sound card) you have to use the M-Audio app to change the volume - the normal volume controls don't work.
MUCH cheaper is the USB sound card option. I also have a Griffin iMic on my work Mac and this is plugged into my keyboard usb slot. That means I can conveniently plug my headphones in with just a short cord. Works great, sounds great, and works with the standard volume controls.

  • Pb with X200, NEC based USB 3.0 PCI card and external USB 3.0 HD

Hello, I ordered a USB 3.0 Express Card based on the NEC chipset. I am using a Lenovo X200 under XP SP3 and I have an external Buffalo Ministation USB3.0 HD. No problem to install the Express Card driver, the card is recognized but the HD won't mount. I have the USB connection beep and in the next 10 sec the USD disconnection beep. This is not a low power issue, I connected to the Express Card a power supply and have the same issue. In addition, this config, Express Card and Ministation Buffalo just work fine on a T60 under Windows 7. Any idea? Many thanks ! Tom

I would like to add IO to my Mac Pro Details of it are below
I have looked at several options and would be happy to go with either eSata or USB 3.0.  I have heard some bad reviews about the USB 3.0 PCI offerings out there though.
On the one hand, I have an unused eSata enclosure so I would not have to buy one,  on the other hand a few USB 3.0 ports on the machine would allow grerater expandability with a USB 3.0 hub hung off the back.  ( can you get eSata hubs?  never thought of that until just now)
The nearest thing to an eSATA hub is a 'SATA port-multiplier'. This allows connecting up to 4 SATA drives to a single SATA port.
Note: Not all SATA or eSATA cards support 'port-multiplier' functionality. The CalDigit card says it does support port-multiplier enclosures, what this means is that a single eSATA cable can be connected to an external box containing multiple SATA drives and see and use them all.

  • PCI-card and /etc/path_to_inst

    Hello!
I have a problem with my PCI-card (this is E1-controller) in SF V120
    bash-3.00# uname -a
    SunOS CAREM2 5.10 Generic_118833-33 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2
When I place card in the PCI slot, information in /etc/path_to_inst is updates:
    bash-3.00# cat /etc/path_to_inst
    +. . .+
    +. . . <output omitted>+
    +"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci7777,113@5" 0 "cpt02pci"+
    +"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci7777,8@5,1" 0 "fastvr"+
    +. . .+
    +. . . <output omitted>+
Then I take out card from the server:
    bash-3.00# devfsadm -vC
    bash-3.00#
And string in /etc/path_to_inst file has no changed.
    bash-3.00# cat /etc/path_to_inst
    +. . .+
    +. . . <output omitted>+
    +"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci7777,113@5" 0 "cpt02pci"+
    +"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci7777,8@5,1" 0 "fastvr"+
    +. . .+
    +. . . <output omitted>+
Then I change /etc/path_to_inst file manually and delete this strings.
    After reboot (without the PCI-card):
    bash-3.00# cat /etc/path_to_inst
    +. . .+
    +. . . <output omitted>+
    +"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci7777,113@5" 0 "cpt02pci"+
    +"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci7777,8@5,1" 0 "fastvr"+
    +. . .+
    +. . . <output omitted>+
    Why?
Thanks a lots and sory for my english. =)

First of all, why do you want to remove the entry from /etc/path_to_inst? It's not common.
Second, there's probably a link in /dev/cfg for the old controller. I don't know if deleting that link would help at all.
Oh, and 3rd, does it make any difference if you edit /etc/path_to_inst live on the machine, or edit it while booted from other media (like CD or network)?

  • 3rd party USB PCI card and Leopard

I installed a USB 2.0 Compusa Card in my Dual 867 Mac several Years ago, to get USB 2.0 speeds when i got a new Ipod. When 10.4, most t=of the time, early versions not included, I was unable to put the card computer to sleep and then be able to revive it. Leopard fixed that problem, but now the card is losing ports. It is a four port card, and the currently the two inner most ports are not working. The two outer ports are still working. I have had since prior to installing 10.5 my Iphone, Dock, A USB external Drive, for time machine, A USB hub, and my Keyboard attached to the USB 2.0 card. Now the drive disappeared and I am unable to retrieve. Anyone else having this Problem, has anyone had this problem and resolved it. Any help would be appreciated. I am contemplating a New PCI USb 2.0 card, but Not sure if it is the card or Leopard, as i have not had a any problems until 10.5 and 10.5.1 installations.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello.
I have a G4 Dual 1.42GHz (FW800) and an USB 2.0 PCI card (VIA chipset) and it also worked very fine under Tiger. Since this card is sold for the PC market it doesn't bring a driver for Mac OS X.
I went to the VIA site (http://www.via.com.tw/), there I could found they have another site with drivers for almost any OS. This is the address: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2
Click on the Mac OS choice in the list and then in USB to get the driver. The driver version is 1.60 and it supports G4 systems ONLY and OS versions: MAC OS X 10.2.x, MAC OS X 10.3.x, MAC OS X 10.4.x. Nothing is said about MAC OS 10.5.x.
Unfortunately it doesn't work in my G4 with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). I also tried to use the USB 2.0 PCI card before installing the driver to see if Apple could have done a driver of its own, but it also didn't work.
If your card has a VIA chipset I recommend you write an e-mail to VIA Technologies, Inc. and tell your problem and ask for the update. I did it too.
I hope they can work it out soon.

  • USB PCIe cards and Virus TI

Anyone have any advice in this regard? Would it help with sync? Bandwidth?
    Brands?
Or would it just complicate things?

    Hi!
I've found out the card here: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/allegroexpressusb.html
I need to expand quantity of USB ports because I've got too much midi gear with USB controls. I'm still waiting for delivery of the card and haven't tested it.
Is it the only reason that makes you to search for the PCI-e card or do you try to solve problems with sync?

  • Graphics card and CD problems

    Hello,
I recently partitioned my hard drive into two primary partitions and installed Solaris 9 x86 on one of them.
The first problem I had was kdmconfig. I have an nVidia GeForce4 graphics card, and it was not listed - only up to geforce3 was listed. I tried that, but the test did not work. I got an error (something about InitScreen and SUNWnvidia). I eventually chose the topmost option (16 colors at 640x480) and that one tested fine, but obviously, its a horrible display. How would I get a Solaris driver for my GeForce4? I believe I would need it on a floppy (or a series of floppies) so that I can choose Add Driver and use the floppies. However, I do not know where to find these drivers.
Secondly, after it prompted me to insert CD2, it gave me an error saying CD2 could not be read. I burned the CD2 image at 20x (rather than the normal 40x) and it still gave me this error. How do I get past it?
Finally, Solaris has blocked my entrance to Windows XP. When I start up my computer, I get a SunOS blue-background with two choices: the Solaris partition and my Windows partition. Choosing my windows partition gives me an error (saying some sig file could not be found) and choosing the Solaris partition starts the device configuration manager which eventually leads me to the desktop login screen (black and white, horrible resolution). How do I get to Windows XP?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I am having a similar issue. Let me know if you find a solution.

  • D-link ethernet PCI card and "broken" driver

    Hello!
I found a D-link DFE-530+ ethernet PCI adapter card at a local target on clearance for under $10 - so I figured that despite the "Windows" requirement, I'd give it a try on my 400mhz, "Sawtooth" AGP graphics G4. The D-link website for the card says that the card is compatible with Mac OS 10.2+, and has a driver for download. I downloaed the driver and installed it, then installed the PCI card. No luck, Tiger (running on the G4) complains that the "extension" is bad and that I need to uninstall it or download a newer version of the driver - that doesn't exist.
What can I do to make it work, and does a third-party driver exist?
    Thanks,
    -Dan

I didn't try it before installing the D-link drivers, no, but the card isn't even recognized when the D-Link drivers don't load. I'll uninstall the driver and see what happens - I suppose it couldn't hurt!
    Thanks,
    -Dan

  • Incompatibilities between Gigabit Ethernet PCI cards and Power Mac G5?

    Hi,
we recently bought a Digicom PCI LAN GIGA32 Ethernet card to upgrade our Power Mac G5 1.8GHz server. The OS on the G5 is Mac OS X Server 10.4.8 (8L127).
The issue is simple: the PCI card is recognized by the system (it appears in System Profiler and as a new port in System Preference's Network pane) but Mac OS X cannot properly use it. We tried to connect the card to a Gigabit switch but nothing happened: no led denoting the connection speed turned on on the switch and the Network Status view in the System Preference's Network pane still show the red light with the "No cable connected" message.
We noticed this message in system.log:
    jedi kernel[0]: AppleRTL8169Ethernet: phyWaitForAutoNegotiation TIMEOUT
So we tried to manually set the Ethernet speed for the card and indeed it reacted, but we managed to have it working only at 10 Mbps (10baseTX).
It seems that AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext [1] is used by Mac OS X to control Ethernet cards featuring the Realtek 8169 chipset but it cannot properly communicate with Digicom's card.
The weird thing is that we tried the same card on a Power Mac G4 and it worked flawlessy. Maybe the issue depens on the PCI-X slots available on the Power Mac G5?
Are there any other report of incompatibilites between Ethernet PCI cards with Realtek chipsets and Power Mac G5?
BTW, we noted that the card's vendor doesn't certify the card for Macintosh systems but we didn't manage to find a PCI Gigabit Ethernet card certified to work with Mac OS X and Power Mac G5 hardware. Could you point me to some PCI Gigabit Ethernet cards proven to work with a Power Mac G5 machine?
    [1] file://localhost/System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/Plug Ins/AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext/

Is there something wrong with the built-in interface
or do you want to trunk/bond interfaces or route
    between interfaces?
    Just experimenting…
The interface that Apple had in G4 Xserves (Broadcomm
chipset) 64 bit PCI would perhaps be a good buy if
you can find it (available as spare part?).
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/OSX/osx_networkcards.html
Thanks a lot for the link and the Broadcomm chipset hint.
Meanwhile, I found that the Realtek website features a driver download for Mac OS X 10.4 and Ethernet cards with the 8169S-32 chipset (the one featured by the Digicom card tested).
I think I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

  • Bought wrong e-SATA PCI Card and seek advice on the right one to buy

I have a MacPro bought in 2006 with Intel Processor but still having the old MAC OS X 10.4.11 Tiger version.
    I bought an e-SATA PCI card : http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/MXPCIE6GS2/
But I realised first that I could not insert it. The distance between the slots in the mother board and the external exit whole to fix the card and not compatible (card too short). Furthermore the card specs says that it requires max OS 5 version or later.
So what do you recommend that would go physically in the slot and at the same time fitting with my MAC OS 4.11 version ? This card is to be used to connect external drives suing e-SATA connections.

Nothing wrong with using that card in your Mac Pro. The card will fit in your MP's slots, so if you are unable to seat it then you aren't doing something correctly. The specs say the card is backward compatible with PCI-e 1.0 slots.
You will have to upgrade your OS to the requisite version. Given the cost of Leopard you may wish to instead upgrade to Snow Leopard.

  • HT1918 Credit Card and Paypal problem

Im having a problem selecting my payment method. If I choose my credicard(MasterCard) apple say this creditcard was declined (and the card is perfect). If I choose the Paypal Apple ask me to contact the support. What am I suppose to do ??

The credit card then is registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and it was issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
For the PayPal, have you contacted iTunes Support to ask them why you are getting the message to contact them ? If not then you can use the above link to do so (these are user-to-user forums).

  • Intel cards and aironet problems

I have SSIDs configured on 1231's to support WPA/WPA2. They work fine with Cisco cards/supplicants but intel proset cards (2915ABG for one / I tried the latest drivers from dell and intel) seem to have issues. They will see the SSID and associate, but never pull down an IP address. ACS server shows it as a passed authentication, the AP shows it as associated and not authenticated. The AP config is below. Can anyone offer any suggestions or explanations? Thanks!
    ssid <ssidname>
    vlan <vlan#>
    authentication open eap eap_methods
    authentication network-eap eap_methods
    authentication key-xxxx
    accounting acct_methods
    broadcast-key vlan <vlan#> change 600
encryption vlan <vlan#> mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip

I ran into a similar problem on one of my ssid's using the Intel client. That particular ssid is configured for WPA-PSK (TKIP + AES). It turns out the Intel client profiles have a check mark for "personal security" or "enterprise security". For some reason mine would not work with personal security selected. When I enabled enterprise security and selected WPA and TKIP (WPA)it works fine. It does not make sense but that fixed my problem.

  • G3 Wallstreet--USB card and printer problem

I have a G3 Wallstreet edition and have recently been using a USB card to connect to my Brother HL 1440 printer. Everything was fine until yesterday, when the chooser no longer allowed me to select this printer, and therefore wouldn't recognize the printer at all. I am saving up for a new Mac, but this is what I have to work with now and I really need to have the ability to print--any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    G3 Wallstreet   Mac OS 9.2.x

    Vintage,
A few quick suggestions and questions...
    - Have you made any changes to the computer since the time you printed?
    - Did you just update to OS 9.2.2? If so, this could be the problem.
    - Have you installed or removed any software?
    - Did you make any changes in the Extensions Manager?
If you have not done so, restart the computer...this can often correct problems.
If none of the above applies, have you tried the troubleshooting steps in the printer's manual?

  • Just purchased extreme card and have problems

    Hi all,
I have two computers, one a MBP and one an old iMac (17" flatpanel), I love connecting to the net on my MBP using the built in Airport, so I decided to get one for my old iMac. I have just installed it and it doesn't seem as straightforward as on MBP, it just doesn't seem to detect a connection, I have even tried manually copying the DHCP settings from my MBP, without any joy, is there something I am missing. Do I need to first connect the iMac via ethernet to the modem?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The antenna connection to an AirPort Extreme card can trick you into thinking it is installed properly. Use the photos in KB 108039, Properly attaching the antenna on an AirPort Extreme Card to verify that the antenna wire is indeed installed correctly.

  • Wmp 11 pci card work with WPA encription?

I just purchased a new 54G wireless access point since my new laptop (with Vista) doesn't seem to want to give "full connectivity" when using WEP security activated.
I now use WPA and the laptop hooks up fine to the new access point.  My problem now, is all my other wireless computers have the older wmp 11 pci cards, and I don't see anywhere in the setup where I can select "WPA" security so they can see the new access point.
Is there a way that they can work with this new access point with WPA?

I have a WMP 11 2.7 - I know for a fact it supports WPA2 because I am connected to the net using it and WPA2 right now.
I knew it had to work cos I got it working under Ubuntu linux using this
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1071920&mode=linear
    very helpful guide.
Could not however get the damned thing to work on windows using any of the drivers from this site. So I went back and had a look at the linux guide and found a simple solution. Download this driver
    http://sidulus.textdrive.com/bcmwl5sys.zip
Go to C:\windows\system32\drivers\bcmwl5.sys rename the driver there to bcmwl5.old.sys and unzip the new driver to that location. Restart. Hey-presto you should now be able to connect to WPA and WPA2 networks.
I think this will probably only work for the 2.7 version as that is a Broadcom chipset.
You know what really bugs me tho? I shouldn't have to be telling you to do all this, I shouldn't have to do it myself either. Why the hell does this card not connect to WPA with the drivers supplied on this site?!?!?
