Linksys Spa 942 IP phone setup

I have (qty 7) linksys spa942 phones connected to a router that gets internet access directly from the modem.  I'm trying to find out what others setups people have and how it is done.  Do you propgram the phone directly? Do you program a Voip box such as the spa9000?  What companys are compatible and work the best with these phones.?  We need the phones to make outgoing calls and receive calls.  The ability to setup hunt groups would be helpful too.  Let me know if theres any info I'm leaving out that would be needed to help me resolve this issue.  Very desperate to get some help please.

Hi Ken,
For ease of management it is usually better to purchase a VOIP service (ITSP). A lot of time when purchasing a hosted service, they will provision the phones for you and you do not really have to configure anything.
Voice service options will range and the prices vary of course. If you are supplying the phones and the ITSP is supplying the service, typically the provider will supply you with a proxy, user id and password which you manually configure on each phone. If the provider also provides the phones, they are usually pre-configured and plug and play (generally speaking).
The SPA9000 is EOS/EOL for quite sometime and was replaced by the UC320. To my knowledge the SPA9xx phones are not supported by the UC320. So it would seem the hosted service would be a good route for you.

  • How to trigger Linksys SPA 942 to send the info configured in Conference Bridge URL?

According to the Adminstration Guide for Linksys SPA 942, Conference Bridge URL field under EXT tab should be used to join into a conference call.  However, when I press on CONF or confLx, I do not see the Conference Bridge URL gets sent in the INVITE message.  Is there anything special I need to do to trigger the Conference Bridge URL to be sent?

Conference Bridge URL is the URL used to join into a conference call, generally in the form of the word “conference” or “user@IPaddressort”. By default it is blank so you need to fill the specific user and IP address with the appropriate port for the said settings to work. I further look into this matter and maybe you can be guided with this via this link:

Other than that I suggest contacting Cisco Tech support to further look into your concern. I believe this unit belongs to the business series devices that Cisco is now supporting. Hi, Mrs.Frankie57.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you want to delete a song from your iOS device on iOS 7, tap Songs, swipe the song from right to left, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • 200 OK message before call is established with linksys SPA 3102

I recently bought a cisco linksys SPA 3102 gateway to help me forward incoming VOIP calls to the PSTN network via the PSTN line. I also installed syslog to catch the sip trace. When i placed a call, after the SIP Invite and Trying, I immediately get a 200 OK reply from the PSTN LINE, just as soon as the calls is forwarded to the PSTN network for dialing. This 200 OK reply triggers the billing from the SIP side mean while the call has not yet been established.
Is there a way to stop this per-matured 200 OK reply from happening?
I will be very grateful for your help or hints.

  • CCME with Linksys SPA SIP phones

    Dear all,
I'm currently working out with a deployment which's using the CME (not sure what version going to purchase at the moment)and using the Linksys SIP phone (SPA922). I would like to know whether the SIP phone's is able to register to CME or using the features that provided by CME. I did try to search from Cisco website but couldn't find any related information between two different hardware setup.
    Thanks

Is there any documentations from Cisco which stated clealy that the CCME integration with different brand of SIP phone (at least Linksys) because i don't want to be happen that i buy a "bunch" of Linksys SIP phones and it cannot be integrate with CCME.
It should be better that to have a clear stated docs and can show to the management dept before purchasing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • UPNP on Linksys SPA-2102?

So basically, this is my setup: internet modem > plugs into SPA-2102 > phone plugs into SPA-2102 > internet cable goes into ethernet switch > ethernet switch goes into two computers Steam (and other internet applications) will automatically disconnect-I'm assuming the ports are blocked-so I've switch to a static IP for both computers. I've forwarded the required ports for Steam (I'm trying to play the same games with my brother), but only one of us seems to be able to connect to Steam at one time. What should I do that will allow both of us to access the same ports? I've phoned Linksys and they told me to enable UPNP through the admin panel, and I told my phone company, but they do not see it as an option. Does the SPA-2102 have UPNP? If yes, how would I go upon enabling it? If no, what should I do? This problem is extremely frustrating. Thanks in advance, David Leong

What is the modem that you have?is that a router also?
Without the SPA2102, are the two computers able to connect to steam also,
    modem - switch - computers
I'm thinking that you may have double NAT, setting the SPA2102 to bridge mode, should get teh phone to work as well but there may be some settings that you have already set some where for your router to work.
Try this setup if your modem is a router as well.
    modem - switch -  computer
                                - computer
                                -  SPA2102

  • Linksys SPA 3102 not detecting hang up from Asterisk FreePBX

    Hi,
I am forwarding calls from my pstn to freepbx using SPA 3102 (pstn to voip gateway). I have programmed asterisk to disconnect the call. It seems asterisk is working fine and disconnecting but pstn user still hear the call ringing. How can i make the call disconnect?
    Thanks,
    Rajeev

It's not be possible to solve issue described by rajeevraj22 in first message. According description, the incoming call has not picked up  ("pstn user still hear the call ringing"). Unfortunately, POTS signaling protocol doesn't allow to reject the incoming call. SPA3102 can either pick up call or ignore ring signal on POTS line. In the second case the calling user is hearing ring back tone until he hang up or call setup timeout occur.
Despite your's (ildefonso_v1) problem seems not to be same (your call has been picked up first) there may not be solution available as well. CPC stands for "Calling party Control". CPC is signal sent from terminating PBX to called phone to indicate that the calling party has hung up. Terminating device (SPA3102 here) is recipient of CPC signal, not the source. E.g. CPC is related to opposite signaling direction that the one you are speaking about.
The call disconnect from end device to PBX is signaled by high impedance of end device.
I see when spa line is Idle the current Voltage is 52V, When a call is done the voltage is -7V. When I finish a incoming call from any internal extension or from asterisk the voltage is 52V again, but the call does not hang up in the other side.
OK. So idle line voltage is 52V. According your description, the SPA3102 disconnect properly from line on end of call (voltage rise to 52V). If the call doesn't disconnect, then it's not matter of SPA3102 but matter of terminating PBX.
The behavior like it is not so common in current phone networks, but older phone network switches allow no hangup from called side at all. Only caller is allowed to terminate the call.
All at all, you can't solve the issue from your side of wire. If terminating PBX is not willing to disconnect call immediately, you can do nothing with it. Ask your Telco operator for support. The behavior of particular line may be configurable. But don't put so much hope on it.
After 30 seconds I can see in the syslog POL REV -47 52 then the call hangs up in the other side.
It is the CPC signal from PBX to you. The PBX considered the call is over and is signaling it to you.

  • What is the "Backup IP" reboot reason on the Cisco SPA 50x IP phones?

    Hi,
We have a customer, at a remote site with SPA504G phones, they have a problem with the phones rebooting once in a while, typically once an hour.
In the reboot history on the phones the reason is "Backup IP".
I cant find any reference to this in the SPA 50x manuals or anywhere else, so what do this actually mean?
The phones are deployed using SIP, and are running firmware 7.4.9c.
The phones /admin/status.xml has this information:
    <    <Reboot_Reason_1>Backup IP(01/01/2003 12:00:00)</Reboot_Reason_1>
          <Reboot_Reason_2>Backup IP(04/25/2012 07:43:29)</Reboot_Reason_2>
          <Reboot_Reason_3>Backup IP(04/25/2012 06:40:45)</Reboot_Reason_3>
    <    <Reboot_Reason_4>Backup IP(04/25/2012 05:38:02)</Reboot_Reason_4>
          <Reboot_Reason_5>Backup IP(04/25/2012 04:35:18)</Reboot_Reason_5>
The manual has information about several other reboot reasons, but I can't find any information about this "Backup IP" reason.

  • Help with Multiple VLANS and IP Phone Setup.

Although i have a 3com, I have a cisco IP Phone. I have the IP Phone connected to the 3com swithport using a hybrid port. It's a tagged member of vlan3 (voice net) and an untagged member of vlan1(native data)
The ip phone gets the right DHCP address for vlan3 ( 10.x.x.x ) but the laptop connected to the ip phone gets the IP for vlan 3 as well.
I want the laptop to get the IP of the native vlan ( 192.168.x.x)
what would the port setup need to be ? does it need to be a trunk ? i have the PVID of the port set to vlan3, this allows the IP phone to get its vlan3 DHCP address.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
The 3com OS is very similar to the latest of CISCO IOS'.
so explain wtih syntax and i'm sure the 3com can relate.

Based on your description of a 'Hybrid Port' this sounds like Cisco's 'Multi-VLAN Port' that was a feature of the 2900XL/3500XL series switches. This feature has however long since gone......
With a Cisco switch an access port supporting an Access VLAN & a Voice VLAN is effectively a Trunk with only one Tagged VLAN and the Native VLAN:
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    switchport mode access
    switchport access vlan 10
    switchport voice vlan 100
This results in the same configuration as:
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 10
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 100
With the exception of CDP packets being sent advertising the Voice VLAN.
With regards to other IP Phone vendors and DHCP Vendor Options - the answer is it depends....
Nortel use Vendor Option 144 to inform the IP Phone of the Voice VLAN and Option 128 for the Server (PBX) to use. Ericsson uses Vendor Option 43 that can be configured to tell the IP Phone the VLAN and the Web server to read the config file from.
I don't think you will get this working automatically with your 3Com switches, you can however manually configure the VLAN on the Cisco IP Phones.

  • Bluetooth phone setup for E2

i try to setup a connection to my moment phone (sprint) and when i click manufactures my samsung is not listed.  It then tells me to run the phone link updater on my computer but i can not find one?  I am using a mac computer, would that make a difference?  thanks
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

The Phone link updater hasn't been updated in many years.  You most likely won't be able to connect the two devices.
Using a Mac has nothing to do with the lack of proper drivers.

  • Strange phone setup in new build

Just moved into a brand new house and while trying to improve my (dreadful) broadband speed came across what I think might be incorrect wiring of the telephone system.
    My setup is as follows:
The BT drop wire comes out from undergound in a grey BT branded box on the outside of the house. I thought at first it might be one of the external NTE boxes, however on opening it up there are no components inside just the BT cable from the cabinet in the street which is then connected to two white internal cable runs with 3-way crimps.
One of these cables runs to the opposite side of the house into the back of an Openreach branded NTE5 box. There is then an extension off the front part of the faceplate running to a socket in the bedroom.
The other one appears to run a few metres along to the right (inside the wall) to a "media faceplate" in the living room. This plate contains two incoming satellite feeds and a coax return to a box in the loft as well as a telephone connection. The telephone connection has no capacitor or anything on it so looks to me as though it should be a "slave" rather than connected directly to the incoming BT wire via the crimp.
There is then an extension off this mediaplate to a socket in the electricity cupboard which connects to the alarm system.
    My question is this:
Should I have anything directly connected to the incoming dropwire other than the NTE5 box?
I thought the NTE5 was always to be the first point on which any other internal wiring should be connected out from?
As it stands just now there are essentially 2 other sockets connected (living room and alarm system) which are before the NTE5.
Can anyone confirm if this is correct or not before I go back to the builder and get them to correct it (or get BT to correct it and pass on the charge of moving the NTE5 to the living room and wiring off of that to the rest of the house).
    Thanks

That is called Star Wiring, Openreach Engineers wouldn't/shouldn't have done that as they have been sepcifically instructed not to do it. Also that media plate would have been installed by the developer so best guess is they crimped it to the under ground cable.
Oh and it is only referred to as a drop wire when it connects overhead as it is a completely different type of cable.

  • Using cloud apple id on new phone setup

I'm setting up my new 5 phone and I'm stuck at the apple Id screen.  Can I use the cloud id instead of the one I'm currently using?  My ipad and Cloud are a @me, Apple ID on 3S is @hotmail.  I can't stand having 2 different ones on the devices and I went to try to "manage my IDs" and it wouldn't allow me to do anything with them as the @me was a mobileme acct.  I'm concerned my data won't transfer or itunes won't work if I use the icloud id.  Thanks.

Did you click on "Unable to Receive Messages on any of your Devices"? If you do that, you can enter your Recovery Key to get to the next screen.
If you lost (or do not have access to) the trusted device associated with your Apple ID
As long as you still have your Recovery Key and remember your Apple ID password, you can sign in and add a new trusted device to your account. You can also remove any devices you may have lost, sold, or given away.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), select "Manage your Apple ID," and sign in.
On the Verify Your Identity screen, select "Unable to receive messages at any of your devices?"
In the pop-up window, enter your Recovery Key.
Then, under "Edit your Apple ID," select Password and Security > Trusted devices > Manage.
Remove the device you no longer wish to use to verify your identity.
Either verify another device already listed, or select "Set up Find My iPhone" to add a new trusted device to your list.

  • Phone setup

    Hi,
I have been a BT broadband customer for 18 months but I have never connected a phone handset to the line. I am now experiencing some broadband issues and at BT Customer Support I was asked to test my phone line but I am not completely sure how should I connect my phone.
I have attached a picture of the sockets I have at home. Those are the only sockets there are at my place and they were already there when I moved in. There is a RJ11 on the top and a BT plug at the bottom. When I first joined BT, a BT engineer told me that I should connect the ADSL router directly to the RJ11 socket.
That has always worked fine until now. I have just purchased a phone handset and I can never get a dial tone. If I connect it directly to the bottom BT plug, I get no line but when I hang up the phone, the broadband connection drops (indicator in flashing orange). If I connect the microfilter and the phone cable to it same thing happens: Hang up, no line, broadband drops. Finally, I have accessed the test socket and even when connecting the phone to it I have no dial tone.
It seems clear to me that there is a problem with my phone line but apart from that, could somebody tell me which would be the correct way to connect both phone and router given that socket?
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

if the master socket was/is wired correctly theh broadband connects to top socket and phone without filter connects to bottom socket.
if you remove bottom half of socket and connect phone with filter then it should get dial tone and work  if not then report a phone fault to 151
is this the only socket you have in your home?

  • 650 treo mobile phone setup

I cannot get my treo 650 to pair with bluetooth assistant in 10.4.7 on my MacBook. I had it working fine on my PowerBook G4. Please help as each time I run the assistant I get 'the pairing attempt was unsuccessful' message in red!
    thank you

    DanielMon-
I'm getting the same message as you, and I'm **** confounded. I previously had my 650 bluetooth connected with my- now deceased- Powerbook. I did it so long ago that I don't recall how the **** I did it. As of yet my 650 and MacBook haven't been connected AT ALL because I messed up the USB cord that came with the 650 along time ago, and had only been connecting the phone with the Powerbook with the bluetooth. (Do I need to do a Direct Connect before a bluetooth connection is possible?)
If any of you folks can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it (I should have studied technology at college instead of philosophy . . . ).
    Thanks
