Linksys support for VoIP adapters

I would like to know how to get in touch with Linksys tech support, via e-mail for instance.
I would like to report a bug and ask for help on a new product I just bought. There doesn't seem to be any tech e-mail I can write to, just this community forum which of course isn't endorsed by Linksys. I posted the following topics here:
http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=VoIP_Adapters&thread.id=5459
http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=VoIP_Adapters&thread.id=5458
If anyone can lend a hand I'd greatly appreciate it. I bought an SPA8000 on-line and don't really know where to ask for help or report bugs. I also tried the online chat service but it is unavailable for my product...
Thanks in advance.

Hi prashantqta,
Welcome to the Nokia discussion boards!
Unfortunately the Nokia 7230 does not have support for VOIP. Do you currently have this device or are you looking for a device with VOIP?

  • No AR5008 WPA2 Support for XP

I just recently purchased a MacBook Pro and loaded it up with Windows XP. Much to my dismay, the wireless driver seems to lack support for WPA2 under XP, only giving me the option of WPA(1). And that really ***** seeing as to how the AirPort Extreme that I also purchased does not support WPA(1), only giving me the option of WPA2. I had to bust out an older linksys Wireless-G router to get on my network with the older security protocol!!
If I am running OS X 10.5.1 or Windows Vista, I can connect to the airport with WPA2, but using XP, I am stuck with WPA(1). Anyone know where I can find the appropiate driver for Windows XP?
As a side note, the wireless card shows up as AR5008 under XP and as AR5008X under Vista. However the Vista driver does not work under XP.

Sorry for not checking on my own question. I just decided to use Vista instead. As for the answer to your question, no, the patch did not work.
That particular patch is part of Service Pack 2 and therefore does not need to be installed separately.
The Atheros website says that they don't supply a WPA2 driver for XP for this wireless chipset!! I think that is garbage, but what can one man do.
Anyways, I find myself using OS X more and more these days :-P So, I will just use Vista for my (diminishing) Windows needs.

  • Also I need ndiswrapper support for solaris 10

I have a linksys -G type router and my computer uses a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SpeedBooster
which works in Linux like mandrake , debian systems like knoppix and kanotix but their are some buggy like debian also that don't let me change the essid in debian but most linux works with the drivers for my card which are
    04/13/2004 10:01 AM 7,870 BCM43XX.CAT
    03/31/2004 08:44 AM 11,960 BCMWL5.INF
    02/19/2004 11:51 AM 300,928 BCMWL5.SYS
normally you install the drivers with ndiswrapper -i BCMWL5.INF then use -m to add it too the model loader program in linux which adds wlan0 to ifconfig and iwconfig programs
which also ndiswrapper requires the source code of the kernel to install the ndiswrapper right , it req. it too compile the drivers, and using the linux gui programs to setup essid and key wep info
also I use a script in kanotix to use /etc/network/interfaces to load the info on bootup etc.. to get my wireless network card up in linux.
also how the support for soundblaster sound cards in solaris 10, I have not fingured out if theirs sound yet. freebsd 5.4 seemed to be missing the sound support
one more thing in bootup of the install program for Solaris 10 my geforce 6800 card detected right but my tv output was all wrong in since the picture , was only on the monitor and tv had stange graphics on it which did not look right I hope nvidia drivers fix this problem , Is their any different command needed for clone mode in Solaris 10 then free86 nd xorg scripts use?

I got the solutiion from Canon Customer Serivce, temporary until the 10.10 download is released.  It works:
"You can download the latest software updates at this address:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/professional/professional_cameras/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_...
Please select "OS X Mavericks v10.9" using the drop-down menu on the page.  You have to pick the previous version of Mac OS, because the options for OS X 10.10 Yosemite have not yet been populated.  I sincerely apologize for any confusion this may cause.  After selecting OS X 10.9, please click on the red triangle next to the word "Software" to see the software updates available for your computer.  I would recommend updating all of your software including EOS Utility and Digital Photo Professional."
I never did find the drop-down menu, but I went into the site map and found what I needed.

  • AirPort Extreme bast station 4 support for PB G4 power pc??

I am in the market for a wireless network. I've read that Apple is hard at work on AEX4 with MIMO technology. I don't mind waiting, but wonder if I even should since I also read that Apple has been quietly integrating support for pre-n on new macbooks, which lead me to believe that a power pc with an Airport extreme wireless card won't support pre-n rates anyway. If true then I'd be well enough to invest in 802.11g. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
    Jeff

Perhaps an inexpensive usb wireless adapter would work as well?
This is probably the simplest way to get the G3 connected to the wireless network.
I'll have to read up on getting an express and using it as a wireless bridge as I am unfamiliar with the concept.
The new AirPort Extreme is broadcasting a wireless signal.
A new AirPort Express could be located close to the G3. The Express will pick up the wireless signal from the AirPort Extreme, then provide an Ethernet connection to the G3 though a short Ethernet cable.
This can work very well......IF.....you keep the G3 at a fixed location, since it will always be connected to the AriPort Express using an Ethernet cable.
I do have an old Linksys Wireless G router.  I wonder if that would work?
In theory, yes. But it would have to use much older WEP "security", which is easily cracked in minutes using free tools available on the Internet. So, anyone who really wanted to get on the network could do so. It's an option, but not a very good one.

  • Setting up Cisco SLM248GT-NA switch for VoIP

    Hello Everyone,
We have a Cisco slm248gt-na smart switch in our office that I am trying to configure to support and optimize for VoIP. We have desktops hooked up off the phones in most cases. Are there any config guidelines to optimize the switch so it has proper QOS set and VoIP gets higher priority over data.
    Thanks, Kind Regards
    Shabbir

    Hello Tom,
    Thanks for your reply.
We have a pretty straight forward setup. We have 15 Cisco SPA303 phones hooked up to switch and the desktop are connoted via the phone. We have a wireless LAN and a corporate server that servers as a file sharing/vpn type setup. Other than that there are no devices hooked up. We had to implement auto voice vlan feature but were still running into issues like occasional poor voice quality and one way audio type issues. However I did notice something in the configuration menu "Telephone OUI", could you please help us on how to implement that. We are trying to implement best practice to avoid voip related issues that we have been having.
We also see all the ports in trunk mode. Is that the recommended setting or should we change it to access mode?
    Thanks, Kind Regards

  • HP EliteBook 8540w - drivers can't load for network adapters

Seriously. This is how I imagined life before the the internet. It's horrible.
So here's the deal...I suspect that all of this could have stemmed from some new VPN software that I installed for work. I'm not 100% sure that that's the issue but that's the last thing I installed, before windows did a software update, before the issues started to occur.
    Here's what's happening:
    I cannot enable my wireless
I cannot access the internet via an ethernet cable.
There are a lot of adapters showing up in my device manager...I'm not sure how many of them truly belong there. For example, my NIC card..."Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection - Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport"...there's also this one "Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection #2"
There are a number of adapters that have an exclamation mark next to them. I cannot unstall them.
I do not see the exclamation marks when I start the machine in safe mode. I do see them when I start in safe mode with networking
I have tried downloading drivers from Intel...I was not able to install them.
I am the admistrator of the machine.
Can anyone help? I'm kind of at a loss here.
    Thanks in advance!

  • PCMCIA-GPIB support for Windows 7 and 8

I understand the PCMCIA-GPIB adapters are legacy devices, however, for some of us who still have these adapters and platforms with Windows 7 or 8 on them, it would be very useful to see a supported release of NI488.2. I haven't been able to get any version of the software to work yet (I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) with this adapter. If anyone has a workaround available, without having to install XP or using a virtual environment, please share. If NI still sells this product, then it would seem appropriate that it should be fully supported.
Current use: Data collection via Agilent IC-CAP, Silvaco UTMOST IV, and MATLAB from parameter analyzers, LCR meters, and network analyzers for on-wafer probing.

    Too bad.
It looks like they dropped support for the PCMCIA-GPIB completely with Windows 7.
The ironic thing is that they still sell this card. I would bet most people don't know that it isn't supported with Windows 7.
I wouldn't have know if I hadn't read your post.
    Very bad of NI.

  • Any possibility to get SYSLOG and SNMP support for the E8350?

    Hi,
It would be so nice to get some more basic functionality "OR more advance ones" to be able to se what is happening on the router, what it is doing and how the status of it is!
Couldn't Linksys add support for a syslog server or snmp to the E8350 router, would help alot to determine what's going on!
Or to enable some more / better logging support to a local attached USB stick or similar...
I remember from one of the old watchguard firewalls i had, it was superb in displaying in and outgoing traffic and what was blocked..
So a more advanced live traffic view lor ogging option would be greate!
    /J

I think you are at the point where you are asking for advanced tools but even though its a very pricey router, its still considered a home router. Linksys needs to evaluate their business model on this stuff. Prices more in line with SoHo Business equipment but features of a home router. To me it seems like they have crossed a line. Should reconsider their audience at this price point and open up access to more features but that may need to give out better access to the router instead of the GUI. Need to open up telnet or ssh to a shell that has those features available but would still not grant access to files that could brick the router. It couldn't be that hard.

  • Skype Update Broke Support For USB Video Capture D...

We use video to USB adapters to integrate Skype into our classroom set ups and the most recent upgrade seems to have broken support for these types of devices. The only solution we've come up with so far is to downgrade to 6.1.0.129 and turn off auto updates (which is a band-aid at best). Any idea why Skype chose to do this and what might be the best way around the issue? The issue is with everything from cheap StarTech USB dongles all the way up to Black Magic Design's Intensity Shuttle. Our class capture cameras do not support USB unfortunately.

I believe at least starting with 6.2 the video support was being reworked in one way or another, possibly from the ground up.  It appears a lot of compatibility especially with virtual video devices/overlays was lost.  I don't believe that was intentional. The only thing you can do is continue to use 6.1 until a future release restores compatibility.

  • Imaging support for ax88179 (USB3.0-Gigabit Ethernet adapter

    Hi
I anyone aware whether support for ax88179 (USB3.0-Gigabit Ethernet adapter) will be added in forthcoming ZCM patches/driver updates?
We are running 11.3.2 but are assessing these adapters for imaging a fleet of tablet/notbook machines we have arriving... The docks are only 10/100 and we need gigabit given the number we will have to deploy...!
    Cheers
    David

    Review this TID as well....
    https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3421576
Development will need the results to add support.
You may be able to get it working yourself with the NEWID command in the short-term or you may need new drivers added.
Either way, it is best to open an SR but if you have that data in hand, it will speed the process.

  • SIP Support for nokia N 80IE

    Hi All,
I have Nokia N 80 IE .i want to know how to configure VOIP Through SIP.
I have Callcentric account i try to configure but its showing Registraion Failur.
    Pls Help me
    Bino

It is more likley they're saying which phones are getting N-Gage support, rather then saying which ones are not. That leaves us wondering forever
A full list of future planned N-Gage support for all phones would be nice, rather then the "coming soon" ones. Just to make sure if it will ever happen to E71 (and other models ofc).

  • Snow and setting priority for voip voice packets?

I have an engine Voice Box 2 connected to my dual ethernet base station, for voip phone calls using a 1500kbps broadband connection. It all works fine, except sometimes the voice quality of phone calls isn't good - drop-outs occur. Engin support tells me there is a way to configure an airport BS to give priority to voice packet data over other internet data data, and this will improve the voice quality.
Is this possible with a snow BS, and if so how do I do it?

OK, Duane and anyone else. My question has been answered via telephone from Apple Australia, on Thursday 22 Feb 2007 at local time 9.01 pm. The answer is: There is no way that any version of an Airport BS can be set to prioritize voip voice packets over other internet packets of data.
Apple Supporters in other countries may disagree (not a surprise). I've been a Mac user since the first 1984 64K Mac, and I've not been too impressed with Apple phone service during the last 20+ years, so if another Apple tech elsewhere comes up with a different answer I would not be at all surprised.
So, first premise is my voip provider gave me incorrect info. Second one is maybe someone else gave them the incorrect info. One guess and no prizes as to whom this may have been.
Bigger surprise is that Apple seems oblivious to how popular voip phone is going to be in the immediate future, and that Mac users are likely to receive inferior quality voice quality and have no way to improve this by tweaking their Airports.
