Linksys WAP200 DHCP issues (acces point)

Hello,
during installation of Linksys WAP200 we noticed the following two issues:
a) The main problem consist of that AP (wifi access point) do not process DHCP request. Any DHCP request is not received when we had to used only one SSID and AP is in VLAN1 (the same problem is registered if are allowed VLANs to AP). Additionaly were created additional SSID - all is working properly.
b) The second and more important problem if is required to make restart of AP or due to outage of electricity, again is not allowed to receive IP address from AP. When is second SSID deleted and again reconfigured is whole communication and functionality restored.
Technical specification of AP:
Model: Linksys WAP 200
Firmware: 1.0.22-ETSI
SN: MO200J500700, MO200J300921, MO200J300922, MO200J300923,MO200J300924, MO200J300925, MO200J300926, MO200J300927, MO200J300928
These enclosed network devices are used in LAN topology:

SRW248G4P-EU, Linksys SRW248G4P 48-Port 10/100+4-Port Gigabit Switch, Po
Do you have any idea where should by problem or we have to wait on new firmware ? :(
Thanks for help and suggest.
Pavol

Hi Pavol,
As with the SRW series switches, the default VLAN (vlan1) is untagged.
VLAN2, VLAN3 and VLAN4 will  obviouslybe  tagged, so the WAP200 supports trunked VLANs.
I have been using WAP200's for both bridging in some applications and just in AP mode for other applications for a number of years, in conjunction with my SRW2008P switch.
But I have seen issues, where after a software upgrade.   I had to reset the AP back to factory defaults and create the configuration again.
Firstly reset the WAP200 back to factory defaults and it still fails, I would suggest you call the wonderful folks at the Small Business Support Center (SBSC) in your country via the following URL;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
I must admit I am using the US software 1.0.22 and not the European software :D but it may just be a configuration issue you may have.
I did see software version firmware_wap200v1.0.22.2-ETSI for European countries, i am not sure if that is the software you are using.

  • WAP200 - DHCP issues

We have just bought 3 x Cisco Small business WAP200 rangebooster AP's.
None of the them will issue an IP via dhcp to a client, MAC or Windows 7.
I have upgraded them to the latest firmware 2.0.2.4-ETSI
I have tried connecting the client to the AP without security, with Wep, WAP and WAP2, TKIP and AES.
The Windows 7 client displays the werless network as an Unidentified Public network, and assings an Apipa address.
Assigning a manual IP address does not fis the issue.
The AP's have a Fixed IP set via a DHCP reservation.
I am at a loss as to what to try next, I havent had this issue with any other make access points.

  • RV042 second DHCP issue

    Hy all,
I  have a CISCO RV042 in a network with 2 subnets 192.168.1.x and  192.168.2.x and I want multiple DHCP on both subnets. How can I do that?
If  I use a second router for the second subnet (192.168.2.x) to use its  DHCP. The bandwith management will work? Do I need port VLANs?
    The network is like this:
The  RV042 is the main router thru it we acces the internet, it also suplies  DHCP 192.168.1.x, I enabled multiple subnet for 192.168.2.x.
The  reason I want 2 subnets is beacause I have 2 acces points for wireless  clients and I want to use rate control on WAN with bandwith management  from RV042 too give wired clients more bandwith than wireless clients.
I know that RV042 doesn't supply multiple dhcp like RV180,but I needed dual WAN.
    Thank You

    Hi,
Thank you for the answer, but my issue remains, below I tried to write a little bit more
If I make the configuration like this:
    On CISCO RV042:
    Port based VLANs:
    VLAN 1 on LAN 1
    VLAN 2 on LAN 2
    On AT-FS750/24 switch:
    Port-based VLANs:
    VLAN 1 for 2,3,4 ports where 2,3 are the AP's (TL-WA901ND) and 4 uplink to RV042
VLAN 2 for the rest, let's say 5,6,7,8,9, etc ports that are for wired clients.
    Tagged-based (802.1q):
VLAN ID 11 for 2,3,4 ports where 2,3 ports are tagged are the AP's (TL-WA901ND) and 4 untagged uplink to RV042.
VLAN ID 22 for 2,3,4 ports where 2,3 ports are tagged are the AP's (TL-WA901ND) and 4 untagged uplink to RV042.
    On AP's (TL-WA901ND):
    Multi-SSID with tagged based VLAN:
SSID 1 on VLAN ID 11
SSID 2 on VLAN ID 22
If I use the second router (not supporting VLANs) only for DHCP for the wired clients with the configuration:
-In the WAN I'll plug RV042 LAN 2 (VLAN 2) and from its LAN 1 I'll connect LAN 5 (VLAN 2) in the switch.
    second router WAN:
    IP:    192.168.2.2
    SM:   255.255.255.0
    DG:   192.168.2.1
    DNS: 192.168.2.1
    For DHCP
    LAN1:
    IP:   192.168.3.3
    SM:  255.255.255.0
It will work to split wireless from wired ?
How can I split the 2 wireless networks in guests and business more efficient?
Let's say the wireless clients from "SSID 1" have to have a guaranteed bandwidth.!
How can I set it up so the wireless clients gets different IP class on the 2 wireless networks?
Can I use the rate control from RV042 on the IP (192.168.2.2) of the second router?
My problem is that I need all the subnet available from RV042 DHCP for the wireless clients (192.168.1.x), because RV042 can route only in class C (254).
I configured the static IP's in 192.168.2.x subnet for Ethernet equipments, I used multiple subnets from RV042.
Momentarily I use COS from the switch for the tagged VLAN to prioritize the traffic, but this is no longer an option for me.
Can a CISCO RV180 make a difference in this configuration?
    Thank you,
    Dragos

  • Guest Wireless Tunnelling - DHCP Issue

    Hi,
I'm attempting to implement Guest Anchor tunnelling between two WLC's but I've run into an odd issue I cannot find a clear answer to.
We have two 5508 WLC's, both Running 7.4.100.0.
The Guest Anchor Controller obviously resides in a DMZ, it's functionality has been proven by connecting an AP directly to it, and connecting the the guest WLAN.
The two controllers have been configured as Mobility Peers, the Mobility Tunnel between them is up (mping and eping both successful, status is up).
The Guest WLAN has been replicated on both controllers, I have set the Mobility Anchor on the WLAN. The Guest Anchor has itself as the mobility anchor and the Internal Controller has the Guest Anchor set.
DHCP is provided by the Guest Anchor's internal DHCP Server. DHCP Proxy is enabled on both Controllers, with the Option 82 format set to AP-MAC. Both Controllers WLAN settings are set to DHCP Server Override, pointed to the Management IP of the Guest Anchor and DHCP Addr. Assignment required.
The problem I'm experiencing is with connecting clients through the Internal WLC. The Client Associates to the Internal WLC and obtains a lease from the Guest Anchor and connects to the network. A few seconds later the client is dessociated from the internal controller. On every subsequent connection attempt, the client does not recieve a response to it's DHCP Requests, and hence ends up with an apipa address.
The Message logs on two controllers return the following errors:
    INTERNAL CONTROLLER:
*apfReceiveTask: Jun 27 14:03:25.839: #APF-4-HANDOFF_END_RCVD: apf_mm.c:1626 Handoff end received in wrong role (peer Ip: 0.0.0.0, sender:GUEST_ANCHOR_IP, Role:0) for mobile Client_MAC
    GUEST ANCHOR CONTROLLER:
    *DHCP Server: Jun 27 14:03:14.466: #DHCP-4-REQIP_NOT_PRESENT: dhcpd.c:559 Received a packet without a requested ip!.
Has anyone else seen similar behaviour? Does anyone have an ideas what might be causing this?
    Many Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi George,
    Thanks for the reply.
The Guest WLAN on the Internal Controller is Anchored to the WLC in the DMZ. The Guest Anchor is anchored to itself.
There are only two controllers in the configuration, so breaking off one of the Anchors isn't really an option.
I have tested the Guest Anchor as a Standalone WLC by connecting an AP directly to it, in that configuration DHCP works as expected.

  • Switch / DHCP issue

Hey guys - just would like to know what is happening here:
Brand new Linksys switch(SLM2048)- default settings. Connected to DHCP server via other Cisco switches.
Plug in 6 laptops directly into the switch - "unable to find DHCP server".
    At the same time
Plug in 6x other laptops into a Netgear 8port gigabit ethernet switch and then into the Linksys switch - "DHCP server found".
Other points to note: There is another brand new Linksys switch(SLM2048) connected to the LAN. (And both are at default settings). After the I changed the default ip of one of the switches to DHCP it all worked fine when plugged directly into the first switch.
Yes I have A solution - But not THE solution??
Why is it by adding another switch to the link it works. Why does adding that switch negate the need to change the default IP on the second Linksys switch on the network.
Any ideas would be appreciated.. (hope I have explained this OK and not confused anyone)
    Cheers
    James

odd problem that you got there. i just setup the same switch a week ago but i did not encounter this. try to flash the firmware and reset the device and see if that helps.

  • 6500 DHCP ISSUE

    Hello All,
I am having an issue do DHCP from the 6500, and was hoping someone cant help. So, I tried to setup DHCP from the FWSM to the clients and this worked fine with giving out the IP, however the gateway for devices on the inside is supposed to be the 6500, not the FWSM, which is why the clinets wouldn't get out to the internet. Do I need to set up DHCP relay on the FWSM or does anyone know the way I can setup DHCP on the 6500 to give out IP's to the clients. Again just to reiterate, when I setup DHCP on the FWSM the clinets get the IP's but do not get out to the internet and when I setup DHCP on the 6500 the clients do not get an IP. Also I know tghis is a dhcp issue becasue when I assign a static address on the network the clients get out fine. Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hello Alain,
Thanks for your quick response. I attached a Diagram of the layout. Just to let you know this is an FWSM with many virtual contexts and most including this one that are Transparent. I understand that I need an access-list on both ends to specifiy so the FWSM opens it, I am just having issue because the FWSM sees this as unsual traffic and the access-list needs to be on-point to work. Thank you for the response and I'll look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Setting up Acces point with WRT54GL

    Hello everyone,
I'm very new to this wireless networking stuff.
I'm having some problems with my wireless router.  My ISP provided me with a Huwaei wireless modem, but I reside in a two floor apartment and the ISP's modem does not brodcast well to the second floor, the signal is very low.
My difficulty here is that I'm trying to use my router to brodcast the signal to the second floor.
Is it possible to set up an acces point with with my Wi-Fi router ?
My idea is that the router would be placed in a different part of the apartment and clone the signal from the wi-fi modem and broadcats that signal. I want to place the wi-fi router in the second floor.
    Is such an action possible?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can set the WRT54GL as an Access Point, both your both the Routers should be Hardwired to each other..
To make both the Routers work wirelessly, its not possible.
To make both the Routers work each other, Connect the Ethernet Cable from the LAN Port of your Modem to the Lan Port 1 of the Linksys Router. Click Here and follow the instruction how to make your Linksys Router work with your Modem.

  • VRF and DHCP issue

    VRF and DHCP issue
We have a 6500 ( 12.2 (33) SXH5 ) that has a VRF running for our guest network. On this 6500 resides the DHCP pool with a range defined for our guest network. We have a stack of 3750's (12.2 (46) SE) connected to the 6500 with a L3 connection. The 3750's have a local guest VLAN with its gateway defined in a VLAN interface. This VLAN on the 3750 has an IP helper address pointing to an IP within the VRF on the 6500. When debugging DHCP on the 6500, a request is received and sent back out. The client never receives this request.
If a static IP is applied, the client is able to communicate anywhere within the VRF successfully (including pinging the IP within the helper-address. As many posts have pointed out - there is no VRF <name> under the ip dhcp pool <name> within the 6500. I am just wondering if anyone else has run into this and what their solution was.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have tested the dhcp server and vrf on Cisco 3640 and it is working without VRF under the ip dhcp pool. Please ensure that you have configured routing for the dhcp-relay agent(VLAN facing dhcp client on 3750 in your case).

  • Wierd DHCP Issue

    Hello All,
I facing a very wierd  DHCP issue and would like to know your thoughts on it.
I have my wired clients on vlan 1 and wireless cleints(eap-peap) on VLAN 2.
We are facing an issue where multiple wired clients who were on access port vlan 1 are receiving IP address from wireless subnet(vlan2) -their DHCP server was the WLC virtual gateway IP address(1.1.1.1). This is causing an outage to few wired clients.
The WLC trunk does not have vlan 1 allowed on its ports and all APs are in local mode and all on access vlan.
I'm not entirely sure whats causing this, but only way I think this is possible is  that 'A Client' laptop has his network connections  bridged - his wired nic on VLAN 1 and wireless NIC on vlan 2, acting like a WGB, which is causing new wired clients(vlan1) DHCP broadcast request forwared through the bidge mode laptop to AP--> WLC. Do you think this is possible??
Havent been able to identify which client is causing this issue yet.
Has anyone faced a similar issue and anyway to block this through WLC/ACS policy?
    Thanks
    Jino

  • Very weird dhcp issue

We've started 're-vlanning' our main location here, breaking up depts
    into their own vlans.
All seems ok so far, aside from a real doozy.
For the IT vlan, we have one address that will not talk to our web
content mgmt appliance. It's the 2nd address in our assignable pool,
and it doesn't matter if it's dhcp or statically assigned, that address
will not talk to that device.
That is the *only* device that cannot be reached from this particular
address in our dept vlan, every other one works fine.
    Any ideas on this?

So.... the title of this thread should actually be 'Very weird non-DHCP
issue', since your own testing confirms this has nothing to do with DHCP?
If you do a LAN trace on this machine as well as your web content
management appliance do you see packets on either side? Both sides? If
not on both sides but you do on the source (workstation) side see
packets going out, then get LAN traces after each network device
(switch, router, firewall, etc.) to see when the packets disappear.
Feel free to post the LAN traces somewhere with descriptions of IPs,
ports, and what you should be seeing, if you want to post them somewhere
    for review.
    Good luck.

    Hi!
May you try to open your form, compile all pl/sql (shift-ctrl-k) and compile the form (ctrl-t).
    Take a look at triggers like pre-insert, on-insert, post-insert and key-commit.
    What's happen there?

  • Acces points

    Hi all,
Today, I installed an acces point in my house to cover the wifi signal where it was bad before.
This signal is great now on my Ipad and Iphone, but my Macbook pro (mid 2011) has a problem.
My Ipad and Iphone switch between the accespoints perfectly, they pick out the one that has best signal strength and probably the best RSSI.
My MBP however does not switch between the acces points it will keep locked on the one it initially connected to.
When I turn off WIFI and turn it back on again it will reconnect to the best available but it will not switch on itself.
Does anyone know what is wrong?
My wife's MBP (same version) does seem to work and switch perfectly.....
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,

Has this started recently after the last PS3 update? If so theres a thread on this and so far no fix yet. Just do a search. Other than that you need to set up static IP's for both your computers and PS3. There are tutorials on this site as to how to do this.

    Hello fouadissam,
You can connect to the AP with a console cable and enter show ip interface brief, which will display the ip address.
If its connected to a network you can log into your switch and enter show arp | i xxxx.xxxx.xxxx(mac address of the AP).
The below link points to a configuration guide that may be helpful.
