Linksys WRP400 issues

Hallo everybody,
I recently bought a linksys WRP400, but I´m very disappointed over the quality of service in the VoIP. Every time I receive a new phone call I cannot hear anything and the calling neither, and the only way to have solute this issue is the reboot the router...can be true????????
I have also experieced the router cut the wireless communication for few seconds sometimes!
Is there any parameter to avoid those very annoying inconvenient? I have been Linksys customers through many years, but I´m bit disappointed for my recently problems...I have also return a PAP2 for incompatibility issue with the router.
Thanks for your help in advance
BR
Fabio

Ti suggerisco di modificare questi parametri:
voice menu -> system -> debug level 0
voice menu -> regional -> FXS port input gain -4; FXS port output gain -4; FXS port impedance 270+750||1505nF
voice menu -> line 1 e 2 -> network jitter -> very high; jitter buffer adjustment disable; restrict source IP yes; Preferred codec G711a; Echo Supp Enable no;
Fammi sapere.

  • Linksys WRP400: Voice line registered but number not working (not in service) (no SIP response)

    Good morning everybody,
i'm experiencing a weird and frustrating problems with some Linksys WRP400 and i hope you can give me any advices.
Long story short: the Voice line on the WRP400 keeps stop working, even if it's registered on my SIP PBX. Only a reboot of the router or a shutdown no-shutdown of the line temporarily fix the issue.
Let's add some details: i've got a lot of WRP400 installed and running and not all of them have this problem. They all have the same configuration.
I've tried to workaround the issue, reducing Register Expires from 3600 to 1200, setting on Make Call Without Reg and Ans Call Without Reg, setting on Restrict Source IP and enabling a daily reboot at 05 AM. It doesn't seem to help.
When the problem occurs, if i call the voice line number i get an error "The number you have dialed is not in service" or similar. Sometimes my customers says they can make an outgoing call, while the problem is still on, but more often the line is totally mute even on the outgoing way.
On my SIP PBX i can see the number is regularly registered, with the right timing.
If i make a Wireshark sniffing on my SIP PBX, i can see some regular "Request: INVITE sip:[email protected]:5060;transport=udp, with session description" from the PBX to the router, but the router never answers.
If i reboot, the voice line re-register itself and start working again.
I attach a screenshot and the Wireshark sniffing.
I'm using the latest 2.00.32 firmware.
Have you got any advice? It's becoming an annoying problem and i'm groping in the dark.
    Best regards,
    Maurizio
P.S: Should i've been asking to Belkin or is this still the right place?

You're right, i'm sorry, the other one is there: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2265350
Is there a way i can ask the moderators to delete this one an keep only the other one?

Clearly this is too late to help you, but since this is showing up on Google and there are about a thousand views, this answer might be helpful to another.
Once you access the Voice Admin menu and provision your device for your VoIP provider, access to the Voice menu is subsequently "Locked".
Your VoiP provider's system has set a new unique password for the Voice menu once the provisioned device has synced with your providers system.
You should be able to get that password from the control panel on you VoIP account profile under "equipment" or a call to support or an e-mail request should garner the password.
The Login will be "admin" and the password provided will get you back into Voice menu system.
You will also need this password if you want to reset the Voice features back to factory defaults.  Because of this system it appears that a WRP400 cannot be unlocked by merely using the reset button.

  • Linksys WRP400 Voice Configuration

    Hi.
I've just purchased a Linksys WRP400 Wireless-G Broadband Router with 2 phone ports (to replace a Billion voip wireless router which has ceased to function). I'm having trouble trying to work out how to set up the voip connection to my voip provider. Firstly, I can't login into the voice screens. On first attempt at configuring the router I could see the voice screens, but couldn't see anywhere to enter the sip web address - I saw the user password box and keyed one in thinking I needed to change it from the default to unlock some additional screens. Now, when I try to view the voice screens I just get prompted for a user name and password where I've entered "admin" and the password I entered previously - which are rejected. I've since reset the device to the factory defaults but I still get prompted for the user name and password. I enter "admin"/"admin" but it still fails to get any further. I've looked in the online user guide hoping it might tell me how to reset this password but couldn't find anything. The user guide talks about entering a voice user name and password supplied by my service provider? I'm confused by this - is it talking about my broadband internet provider? My internet provider is not my voip provider. My voip provider has given me an account, user id and password, but how is the device going to confirm these details without being told the sip details? I thought the Billion config was complicated and I was hoping this device might be much simpler - but not so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  • Configurnig Linksys WRP400 to work with Gizmo Project

I have a Linksys WRP400 and I would like to route incoming calls to Gizmo through the router to a phone.
I have connected the phone to the router via the RJ11
    Based on this »support.gizmo5.com/index.php?_m=···leid=409,
on the router I have set:
    Under SIP settings
    * SIP Port (UDP): 5060
    Under Proxy and Registration
    * Proxy Server : proxy01.sipphone.com
    * Outbound proxy: proxy01.sipphone.com
    Under Subscriber Information
    * User ID: 17471115555 (replacing with my number)
    * Auth ID: 17471115555 (replacing with my number)
    Use Auth ID: Yes
    * Password: (my gizmo5 password)
Everything else is default for router.
The light for the phone 1 on the router does not light up.
I don't get a dial tone on the phone and when I try to call my SIP number, I don't get a response.
I tried Linksys support who couldn't assist (their reply was "we only configure the Internet side of therouter")
    Any suggestions?

  • Linksys WRP400

Hi everyone I have a Linksys WRP400 wireless router with VOIP.
Very recently i have had problems with admin access.
(During setup i change the default username and password as suggested by Linksys to one of my own username and password choices).
After changing the username and password i can setup the rest of the router fine and then log out.
But if i try to log in it won't accept the username and password that i have set nor will it accept the default username and password.
For me to get back into the router i have to soft reset it using the reset button on the back
i have tried to do a hard reset using the reset function in the routers firmware but the router asks me for my internet service providers username and password which i can’t supply as I got the router second-hand
Is there any way to reset the router without the isp username and password
    Thanks in advance Tim R

Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
    Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
    Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
    Enable phishing and malware protection

  • From DD-WRT back to Linksys Firmware Issue

    Hey guys,
I hastily installed dd-wrt.v24-17201_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e3200.bin on my E3200. After reading and realizing that Linksys is unwilling to share their 5Ghz radio driver, I tried to upgrade the firmware back to the Linksys' firmware.
All I can get is the username/password prompt with no u/p combinations that work (yes I tried a blank username with "admin" as the password... linksys' default).
I've cleared my browser history and cache so I knew I wasn't working with a cached file...
Anyone run into this and/or have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

DD-WRT community helped me right away by letting me know that the button on the back that is labelled as a "reset icon": is NOT a reset button... it's the network setup button... Why Cisco would label it with a reset icon is beyond me.
Regardless, simply resetting the router with the hidden button on the bottom marked "reset" instead of the button on the back marked with a "reset icon" fixed my issue.
... partly may fault, partly Cisco's...

  • Linksys router issues

After updating, my linksys router loses its internet connection and now my mac can't connect when I turn my mac on.  I looked on the linksys community support and saw that the maverick update doesnt work with their routers.  Is either company going to fix this issue?  Does anyone have a fix that doesn't involve a) buying a new router or b) manually saving all files on my mac and reverting to an old OS?

Of course this morning it makes me liar.  Mac connected fine with no issues...this time...  Yesterday I did more troubleshooting after I had reset my router and modem.  I went onto my ISP website and reset the modem connection.  The other thing I did was under Network Preferences, I changed Location from automatic to a specific location.  Not really sure if I changed much of anything.  Even after those changes I would turn my macbook on and the internet would cut off for about 5 minutes.  The router no longer had an internet connection so any device connected to the router lost its connection as well but I was still connected to the router.  Not sure if any of the other devices might interfere but I have my xbox 360 set up wirelessly, an ethernet cable connection to my TV, and at any given time there may be 2 cell phones and another laptop all on this same router.  Not that heavy of a load.  I have a linksys wrt110.  All in all I know enough about this sort of stuff to get myself into trouble.  I'll update if the issue reappears.

  • Comcast Cable Modem - Motorola SB5120 with Linksys Router issues

Anyone have the comcast typical inet setup with the SB5120, I also use the LinkSys WRT55AG but only hardwired...
I can't get inet access, I've tried numerous suggestions...
When most folks said to clone the MAC addy, when you check the tab in the routers config, does it update itself or do you have to physically enter it.
Message Edited by Tony1969 on 03-05-2010 09:27 AM

On your Router setup page click on the Sub tab "MAC Add Clone" and below check the box "Enable" and below click on "Clone My PC's MAC" and click on Save Settings..... It will automatically update the MAC add of your Computer on the Router.
Once you done with this settings you need to unplug the power from the Router and Modem, wait for 30sec and then first plug the power to the Modem and once all the lights are lid, then you can plug the power to the Linksys Router.
Now check if you are able to go online.

  • Time Capsule and Linksys Router Issues

The internet cable is connected to the WAN port and the Time Capsule is connected is to one of the ports of the Linksys router. I can successfully backup my MacPro and use the internet for Mail and Safari.
I want to take advantage of the high speed ethernet performance of Time Capsule. However, I don't know if the Time Capsule is really faster than my Linksys router.  Where do I get this information? I suspect the Time Capsule is much faster because I just purchased the Time Capsule. The router is at least 5 years old.
In spite my concern about the speeds of the Time Capsule and Linksys router, I tried to attach the Time capsule as recommended by Apple for a  "first time set up." It failed. The Time Capsule using the AirPort Utility cannot make a network connection. I reestablished the devices as given in paragraph one. WiFi runs again.

Ethernet speed on your local network is determined by the slowest connected device which most likely will be the LinkSys router or your computer.

  • Linksys/airport issue

I have been connecting to the Internet for three years using a linksys wireless access point and my Powerbook G4. I have not had any problems until about three weeks ago. I continually lose my signal and am unable to connect to the Internet. Sometimes, if I power off the computer for a day and turn it back on it will connect. I thought it might be the linksys access point, so I bought a new one -- same problem. I also have reset the access point several times and have changed the cable connecting it to the modem.
Could my airport wireless card be going bad?
One more thing...when I do connect, I pick up my neighbor's signal from time to time. Could his access point be causing the problem?

Most likely it IS interference, like the neighbor's Wireless.
Might try setting it to a different channel.

  • WRP 400 cisco vs linksys

Are there any difference between Linksys WRP 400 and Cisco WRP 400?
We used to sell Linksys WRP 400 to our customers, because it had a well working Voip part.
But we had too many support issues with the router part, and thus we stopped selling the product.
Now I see that WRP 400 is still sold, now my question is has the stability of the product improved?
Secondly, is it stil possible to load cisco firmware into the old Linksys boxes, and will this improve stability?

Hi, the Cisco WRP400 and Linksys WRP400 are the same thing.
Cisco has simply renamed some Linksys products.
You can load the last 2.00.32 firmware. Some bugs were fixed and the stability was partially improved: in this firmware you can schedule a daily or weekly reload of voice module.
My suggestion is evaluate the last firmware on few customers for 2 or months.

  • EA4500 – Smart Wi-Fi interface and Windows Network Map issues

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear!!!!! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation??????????
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless. Any known solutions for this, or is it as Windows suggests; an incompatible Router????
Thanks in advance for any insight or solutions. With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

thebluemamba_24; Thank you for your suggestion; I finally found time yesterday to perform an extensive evaluation before I return the Router. However, rather than trying to add devices manually, my rationale was if the EA4500 can’t process them correctly, automatically, it needs to be returned anyway, so I added devices normally letting the device an Router handle the process.
In thinking through this issue, all devices on our network are detected and identified by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 computers; except of course the Apple and Android devices (Apple TV, iPad, and Smartphone). So, I wondered if one of those three devices being added to the Router’s device list was somehow causing issues or interfering with Windows 7’s ability to generate a Network Map. Therefore, my approach was to turn off or disable all devices on our network, reset the Router to factory defaults, reestablish the Router to my custom Home Network configuration using a Windows 7 PC that has LAN and Wireless access to the Router, then add one device at a time and check with each addition to see if Windows 7 could still generate a Network Map.
With the Router reset and reestablishment complete; I began the process of adding one device at a time and checking to see if a Network Map was being generated. What I discovered was when a recent addition to the network, a Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, was connected (wirelessly), Windows 7 could no longer generate the Network Map and the failure was consistent. The only way to get the Network Map to work again was to remove power from the WD TV Live, although it remained in the EA4500’s Device List; simply turning it off didn’t help. Since I’d originally witnessed the Windows 7 Network Map working with the Linksys E2000 Router that the EA4500 replaced, I decided to test the WD TV Live with that Router. It worked initially, but it failed consistently after the first success. Interestingly, the failure indication was a little different, but nevertheless generation of the Network Map failed.
I’ve tried changing a few settings on the EA4500 as well as the WD TV Live, but nothing helped. There was a recent firmware update to the WD TV Live, so I might try rolling back the firmware to see if it makes a difference.
The Network Map issue might very well be an issue with the WD TV Live, not the Router, but after reading many threads on this Community I have reservations that the problems I’m experiencing with the Smart interface lockup will be fixed. I suspect new emerging replacement products will be the focus and these older products will be abandoned and no more firmware fixes will be forthcoming and I don’t want to spend more money for a new product just to fix old problems and get something that works properly. The Network Map issue is troublesome, but the lockup of the Router’s “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” interface is a serious matter to me. It appears that once it locks up, the only way to correct it is a power off restart; not practical if you’re traveling and trying to access settings remotely; the selling point for this feature.
Given the problems I’m experiencing with the EA4500 and AE3000, I guess I’ll return them. Too bad, because otherwise the EA4500 seems like it’s a good Router. I’ve been brand loyal since the Linksys WRT54G came out, but after reading this Community and with my personal experience with the EA4500 and AE3000, now I’ll probably give the NETGEAR N900 equivalents a try.

  • Issues with WRVS4400Nv2 ?

I just got this device, and the features are pretty good the problem is still  BUGS that they have already been mentioned in other posts, from randomly appearing the default linksys-n SSID, and the wireless side sometimes seems to stop forwarding packets,  it is being already almost 2 days of operation and I'm already experiencing this issues.
It seems the box has a lot of good features but still not sure to keep it or not, there is no post where there is at least a bug scrub and what potentially will be fixed if it will, is this really supported by CISCO, or it is when we will see some serious information on the future of this device?
An other issue I have it seems the SIP ALG it appears to  work only with the Linksys ATAs but for example I have a Cisco 7960G (running SIP not skinny) and it seems nothing happens for opening the ports, the same for the softphones on the machines, I'm afraid to run more features that then I will not know what will trigger other bugs .
    --Raul Lozano

I have open a case already with the linksys-n issue ant that is strange they say they have never heard about that issue, but the way I solved it was by rebooting the box :), so not really a solution just a patch. But they should start documenting this issues instead on saying they have never heard about the problems if it keeps getting treated like that well it will never get fixed.
And here is a description I sent yesterday when I open the case and the case number is 612410361 so maybe you can use it as a reference :)
    Description of the problem:
It seems most of the problems are related to the wireless side, every now and then my computers on the wireless side they seem they loose the connectivity to the network even that it appears they are connected to the SSID, it seems the device is not forwarding traffic. after a while it is reestablished.
I also experience that the device sometimes will put the default SSID linksys-n in service without any configuration change and the only way to fix it is by reloading the box.
It seems on what I have seen online  I'm not the only one having issues.
    https://www.myciscocommunity.com/search.jspa;jsessionid=6D3C3C72F9C680FB5FF345B6095F2F09.node0?peopleEnabled=true&userID=&containerType=&container=&q=WRVS4400Nv2+
it seems there is a new firmware or not sure when it is going to be available, but I like the box because of the features it offers but if it keeps affecting the LAN it is going to make it unusable and then I will have to return it before my time to do it expires, should I wait for a new firmware, if there is any chance I can get a hold of the one that will be released. This is really affecting my operation.
Can you open the case for me and see what can be done.

  • WRT350N stability issues

I have been using a wrt350n router for quite a while, every now and then I have to restore default settings and reprogram everything. I use mac filtering for wifi and I do a few port forwarding, custom ssid, other than that pretty much stock. I have updated to the latest firmware 1.03.7 however my router is locking up all the time. After the last restore to defaults it started locking up almost right away. I have my main computer plugged into the gigabit port and the connection locks up even to that, its not a wireless issue. I cannot ping the router when it locks up, cant do anything other than reboot the router. It is quite annoying, also knowing how much I paid for this thing... Any help would be greatly appriciated. New beta firmware would also be greatly appriciated. If at all possible send me a PM.
Thanks in advance for your time and any help you may be able to provide.

I had the same problems and I think its safe to say the issue is on all Draft-N routers from linksys. I had a 350N for a while and I ran DD-WRT on it without any problems. Might want to give it a try. I run a WRT610N now and I have noticed a slight memory leak associated with the firmware from linksys, you may be having a similar problem. The only difference between our problems is that your router is supported with DD-WRT. Flash the mini release first and then the standard. If you dont have a linux background it can take a little getting used to but their web tool provides a lot more features than the linksys version. If you need further help I would consult their forums. Sorry I cant be of more help but I think its a linksys firmware issue. If you dont want to give it a try google for old linksys firmwares for the router, I am sure they are out there somewhere, an older version may resolve your issues as well.
