Linksys WRT150N

I currently have my Linksys WRT150N wireless router and DSL modem hooked into my desktop computer. I also have set up a wireless network so I can access the internet on two laptops. I now want to get rid of my desktop pc...can I do this, or does my router have to be hooked up to it?

Yes you can disconnect the Desktop if you do not want to use it for the Internet ,
As your router is configured you will be able to access the Internet on your other computers .

I have a Linksys WRT150N router.  My OS is win XP pro.  The Easy Link Advisor keeps telling me during setup that I am not connected to the Internet on my desk top computer.  However my desktop is connected to the Internet as well as my wireless laptop both through the WRT150N router.  I unstalled the Easy Link Advisor, cleaned the register of all Linksys  keys and reinstalled the  Easy Link Advisor. The installation is complete.  The Easy Link Advisor is ready for the setup on my desk top computer.  When I go through the setup process with my fire wall turned off the end result is that I am not connected to the internet.  I know that I am and using the internet right now.  Help!!!!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Do not use the EasyLink Advisor to setup the router...Open the router setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Now,configure the router.

  • Airport Express, Linksys WRT150N Router, Windows Vista - Scene Two

I hate to post again, but I am hoping someone can clue me in on what's going on with my Airport Express. This is my second post, as I thought it started working on its own the last time I posted, which was just three days ago.
I have read all over this dicussion group, and I think I've tried everything mentioned here, and under the sun. I have mine set up to JOIN my existing network only to let me play iTunes over my stereo.
Sunday I finally got my Airport Express to communicate with my computer. After an hour, I shut down my computer and went to bed.
Monday, I had to reset the Express to get it to start communicating again. Changed my Router to Channel 11
Tuesday, I had to reset the Express to get to start communicating again. But, it would cut in and out continuously. I changed my router settings again, and it started working.
Tonight, I turned on my computer, and the AE showed up as still being connected. I started to play iTunes over my stereo, and about 5 minutes later, it all stopped. I unplugged the AE to reset it, and it once again started working, and has been for about 15 minutes while I am typing this out.
Why does this small device cause so much trouble, and am I setting this up wrong? Here is how things are configured right now, and I am hoping someone can tell me what I've done, am doing, wrong.
    Computer Details:
I have a Gateway FX530 running Windows Vista. I have set up a wireless network using a LinkSys WRT150N router which also shares my DSL connection. Using my laptop, the wireless system works great.
    Linksys Wireless settings:
    Wireless mode - bgn
    Connection Type - dhcp
Radio Band - Wide 40 MHz channel ( I had to set it here for my laptop to work)
    Wide Channel - 3
    Standard Channel - 1 - 2.412 GHz.
(Monday it was working on Wide Channel 9, Std Channel 11)
    Security Mode - WPA2
    Encryption - TKIP or AES
    Key Renewal 3600 Seconds
    Beacon Interval - 100ms
    DTIM Interval 1
    Fragmentaion Threshold - 2346
    RTS Threshold - 2347
    Airport Express Settings:
    IP Manually set to 192.168.0.104
    Running version 7.3.1
Set to JOIN a Wireless Netowrk
    Security WPA2 Personal
    Channel: 1(Automatic)
Allow Ethernet clients is NOT checked.

Here is the absolute guaranteed way (that probably won't work for anyone else) to solve how to connect the Airport Express to a non Apple router to a non Apple computer. I will probably jinx myself upon hitting the Post Message button, but here goes.
Step 1: Spend countless hours trying to use the Utility to configure the device. This must be done over a course of 5 days. If you have small children, I would suggest doing this behind a closed door where all the swearing can go unheard.
Step 2: Read every possible thread here on the Discussions group trying every possible suggestion known to mankind.
Step 3: Post at least two threads yourself asking why nothing works. Mark the first thread as 'Answered' within 90 minutes of posting when the AE decides to work for longer than 5 minutes.
Step 4: On the 6th day, take the device back to the Apple store and have them verify the device actually works and that you are not going absolutely insane. Know that they will be testing this device from an Apple Computer thru an Apple router.
Step 5: Wait for the call, which you know is coming, that the device works perfectly for them, and that they can not find anything wrong at all.
Step 6: Feeling like all is lost, you retrieve the device from the Apple store and have the Tech person tell you 'Good Luck'. Yeah, that helps.
Step 7: Connect the device back to your system, program as required and connect to your stereo.
Step 8: Start up iTunes and enjoy endless hours of music.
Step 9: Now this is the crucial part. You sit and wonder WHY it all of a sudden starts working after you bring it in to 'be looked at'. You do exactly the same thing programming it as you did from the first 'out of box' scenerio, having changed nothing to the router settings that didn't work the last time before you brought it back to Apple Store.
Step 10: And in the spirt of the Apple Tech..... "Good Luck"

  • Can't find Network using a Linksys WUSB54G Wireless-G USB Adapter with a linksys WRT150N router????

Hello.....I just recently bought a linksys WRT150N router and am having problems connecting a computer that uses a Linksys WUSB54G Wireless-G USB Adapter. This computer's operating system is windows 2000 and it cannot find the network I setup.....Even when I double checked that the router was in mixed mode.....Can anybody help?

I am having a similar problem with my WUSB54GC adapter connecting to my WRT54G router 100 feet away with only a single stud wall in between.  Sometimes the computer connects automatically and sometimes I have to restart windows or use the repair connection wizard to get the computer to connect.  Using Windows XP and Mixed infrastructure network with SSID broadcasting disabled.

  • Transfer rate between PC and Mac painfully slow! Linksys WRT150N

Hey everyone, I have my new Macbook Pro wirelessly connected to my Linksys WRT150N, while my PC (running Windows XP SP3) is connected through wired.
I originally had dd-wrt on the router, but took it off due to the signal would randomly drop. Now that I have the original firmware back installed, the transfer rate is painfully slow. Just trying to transfer any type of media it goes about a MB per min.
Is there anything I can try to change on my Mac or my router?

This is what you are after I think....

  • Linksys WRT150N on all Apple network

    OK...Here's what's happening.
I have a WRT150N that I've had for several years connected to an older Linksys cable modem.  On the network is a Power Mac G4, a 20" iMac, a 13" Aluminum Unibody Macbook, a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo, a Linksys print server, two iPhone 4, an Apple TV 2, an iPad and an iPad 2.
I recently went wireless on all the computers except the G4.  The problem is a couple things I have noticed.  1) The iMac seems to lose connection to the router when it comes out of sleep.  Restarting the browser 3-4 times brings it back.  2) I use an iPad for music at night on the opposite side of the house from the router.  Now I always have a full bar antenna but at some point in the night, the iPad stops playing.  At first I was using my Pandora One account and thought maybe they were doing some kind of maintenace and booting me off, or possibly my ISP was.  And always a full bar antenna.  I was getting this with my old iPhone 3g but thought maybe it was an issue with the iOS on the phone.
So to test a theory, I set up a playlist from iTunes on the iMac (now obviously using ONLY the WiFi in my house) and it does the same thing.  Last night when I woke and found it silent, I got up and woke up the iPad and found it scanning from song to song like it couldn't find a song so it moved to the next and so on.  I hit pause, then play with the same result.  I fully closed the iPod app and restarted and back in business.  Mind you when this happened last night with the iPod app on ONLY WiFi, I still showed a full bar antenna. (on a side note, the Apple TV has acted weird several times while streaming or actually playing a movie)
Last Saturday I tested the iPad and Pandora at 3pm till 11:30pm with not one single issue.  That night before bed, I stopped the app, restarted so to reset the listen timer from Pandora (I have read there is one) and right on schedule in the wee hours, silence.
I have read many things on the net about Linksys routers randomly dropping connections.  Could this be what I am seeing and if so, why does it happen in the wee hours when we are sleeping?
I am seriously thinking about getting an Airport Extreme to see if it eliminates the issue.
Lastly, I have checked iStumbler and no one in my area has close to my channel so interference from another WiFi seems unlikley.

I think the wireless connection might be dropping on the router. Does this happen on any wired computer/device?
Try changing some wireless settings on the router and see if that works.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. open the setup page of the router and go to Wireless tab. Change the wireless channel to 11. Save the settings.
Go to Advanced wireless settings. Change the beacon interval to 75, RTS and fragmentation threshold to 2304. Save the settings.
Power cycle the router and try to connect to the wireless network again.
Make sure that firmware on your router is updated.

  • Linksys WRT150N Riuter Unstable Connection

I have a WRT150N Wireless Router and my internet connection to my computer and laptop, which are both using wireless receivers, are VERY unstable. I am constantly losing connection to these two computers. Sometimes it lets me reconnect to my network but other times it doesnt. Any solutions?

Try resetting & reconfiguring the router ... also check if any upgrade for firmware on linksys website available or not ... After upgrade ... reset & reconfigure the router ....

  • Linksys WRT150N Crashes all the time...

    Hey,
I have a problem concerning my WRT150N router.  About 1-4 times a day the **bleep** thing just stops everything.
When I look at the status leds everything still looks ok and it seems to still be sending/receiving stuff from the internet.
I use it for cable internet. I have about 3 computers and a PS3 hooked up via networkcable and 1 computer and a laptop via wireless.
As I play EVE Online and other MMORPG's it is kinda crucial to have a decent stable internet connection. This is where my router lets me down.
I am thinking about flashing the router with DD-WRT ( know how its done and works fine my 2nd "router/accespoint"  also a WRT150N uses DD-WRT since a few months). Before you ask yes the router has been crashing since before I used the 2nd WRT150N in my network. Most router/wireless settings are default ( except for the channels SSID broadcast and MAC adress security ).
    Kind Regards,
    Tim

Don't use the DD-WRT firmware, instead download the firmware from here , Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Updating the Firmware on the linksys WRT150N

Will I lose all my settings if i install the new firmware for my WRT150N?

When you do a firmware upgrade, the upgrade itself will not wipe out your settings.  However, after a firmware upgrade, you should reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  This will, of course, wipe out your previous settings.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.  You must setup the router again from scratch.

  • Linksys WRT150N Configuration

I have 3 questions. 1.What would be the best setup/which settings would be the best for the router to give the most bandwidth since i use 3 things at once ps3,xbox360,pc. 2.How do i make like a DMZ for all the systems since you can only have 1. Ex.192.168.1.103 is my xbox360's dmz but i want my ps3,wii to have one also. 3.Is 14,294kb/s Download and 2,885,kb/s Upload good enough to have pc on youtube 360 and ps3 playing games at the same time.

sorry but only one Gaming device can be connected to the router

  • Setting up a WRT150N as an Access Point.

Hello everyone! Today I bought a Linksys WRT150N router. I am trying to setup the router as a simple access point because I already have a router. My configuration is as follows: Modem > Draytek Vigor 2900V > Linksys WRT150N now my question is how to setup the linksys to work with the draytek. The Draytek has an IP address of 192.168.1.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0 Thanks in advance for the help!

I ran into a similar problem while setting up my wrt150n on my previous isp. The default ip address for the wrt150n is 192.168.1.1, see the problem? If you go into the setup for the router you can change the network address for the router to 192.168.2.1 and this should solve your problem. You can confirm with Linksys tech support that this is the problem, they were very helpful when I called them.

  • Connecting a WRT150N (wireless) into a BEFSR41V3 (wired)

I have an existing wired BEFSR41V3 router with 4 used ports.  This router in located in the basement near the modem.
I also have 2 portable computer with wireless cards, and bought a new WRT150N router (wireless).  In order to get the maximum range from the new router, I want to install the WRT150N on the ground floor, where I have 2 wired point.
Can I keep the BEFSR41 as existing and use the 4th point as a bridge been the 2 router?  I would endup with a cascading network:
    Modem connected to BEFSR41
BEFSR41 connected to 3 points and the WRT150N
If I do this I may need to change the IP address of one router to avoid conflicting IP addresses.

I Have Had to do this aswell,
what i did is have my first router(linksys wrt54g) Ip address set to 192.168.2.1
and my second router(linksys wrt150n) IP set to 10.0.2.1
ad it is working fine for me so im guessing this will work fine for you.
    Thanks

  • Having problems connecting an AirPort Express in client mode to a Linksys?

I have a Linksys WRT150N as my main access point. I recently dumbed down its security to WPA2 Personal so a Dell, and Xbox 360 could get on it wirelessly. Unfortunately, my AirPort Express refuses to connect now even after re-configuring it to use WPA. Its light just blinks Amber.
Does anyone else have an AirPort Express connected in client mode to a Linksys access point using WPA Personal security? I vaguely recall that I had this problem before, and solved it by using WPA2. Perhaps it's time to get an Apple TV for playing music on the home theater...
    Thanks.

Hi, Bill!  Actually, no--the AE is creating its own wireless network with the same SSID and password as the Time Capsule.  I had big problems with bandwidth degredation when I tried to extend the network like that.
But I believe I tracked down the cause of the issue--the powerline adapter was losing its connection with the other powerline adapter for some reason.  Still observing that one, but all the Apple stuff appears to be operating normally.  Thanks for the replay anyway!

  • WRT150N router has suddenly stopped working - please help :)

I really don' know much about how routers work, so I am hoping you all can help me.  I have a home PC and an HP notebook.  We have a cable modem and a linksys wrt150N wireless router in order to use the laptop around the house.  It was working fine up until 2 days ago, when it suddenly just stopped working.  Nothing has changed.  I've tried unplugging, rebooting, resetting the little button on the back of the router.  I've tried clearing and refreshing the IP address.  The wireless and the security lights aren't lit up anymore.  I have tried to repair but I get the errors can't acquire a network address, and can't renew the IP address.  I've tried reinstalling the cd that came with the router.  I get router not found.  Please make sure the router is properly connected.  I don't know what to do anymore.  I can't get to the router set up because I can't use the internet without bypassing the router and connecting directly from modem to computer.  Is there any way I can fix this or is this router toast?  We've only had it for 2 years.  I am running XP on the PC, and Vista on the laptop.
If anyone has any idea what is wrong, please please let me know.  I have school work to do on the laptop and really need my wireless connection back.
    Thanks so much.
