Linux driver for GF4 Ti 4400

I bought a new computer a couple of months ago. Equipped with the MSI GeForce4 Ti 4400 128 MB DDR graphics card. It works fine in Win XP, but when I boot in Redhat linux 8.0 things get nasty! The X server dies a couple of times and finally comes alive in a low resolution and few coluors with the vesa driver. The nv driver kills the X-server. So I tried to search the CD¶ that came with the board for linux drivers, but could not find any linux SW at all!
OK. No problem. Just go to MSI website and download it there, I thougt. The product description for my card clearly stated that there were linux drivers for MSI GF4 Ti 4400 DDR. Following the link under "related" named "drivers" I thought I would find something to cure my flickering screen in a resolution so low it is barely readable. But no. Nothing. Only different microsoft drivers for their OS.
So where are the needed drivers for my card under linux? Any ideas would be gratefully appriciated.

    Hi
I googled a little bit and found some tips in the internet.
It seems that there is no Linux driver for Realtek WLan card rtl8191se and rtl8192se.
Bu someone has managed the WLan installation by installing ndiswrapper from synaptic in Ubuntu + GUI. He downloaded the W2K driver net8192se.sys and net8192se.inf.
The W2k driver work but the combination driver W2Kxp or the xp or vista doesnt work.

  • Using the TNT4882 Linux Driver Inside Instrument

I am running Linux as the operating system inside a piece of test equipment I'm designing (embedded application). I am planning on using the National Instruments TNT4882 GPIB IC. The processor is a Pentium class processor. Will the NI Linux driver for the TNT4882 work for this application? Or does this driver make itself the controller on the GPIB bus no matter what?
Anyone have any experince with this? Thanks!

    Hi Crytan,
This is the type of application for which NI-Device was developed. Ni-Device is an instrument side driver that allows you to implement Talker/Listener applications. NI-Device maps the IEEE 488.2 Message protocol state machine, so the device would be IEEE 488.2 compliant. This would be the recommended driver.
There is a DDK for NI-Device 1.4, which is ported to Linux. The driver is written in C++ and the API is also C++.
This is not a free driver. You can get more info at:

  • How to format a hard drive for Linux?

I have a hdd (500gb) that used to be my internal drive for my MBP 2012. It currently has Mac OS 10.10 and Ubuntu 14.04. I want to erase the drive though so I can make it strictly for Linux. The question is which format do I choose in disk utility. These are my options:
    Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)
    Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)
Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled, Encrypted)
    MS-DOS (FAT)
    ExFAT
    Thanks in advance

Format it from the Linux installer. You cannot format it using Disk Utility because you cannot format a startup volume.

    Best regards,

    Hi Stephan,
This is a bug in the unixODBC Driver Manager 2.3.0.  Essentially, you can only have one HDBC per HENV.  The mod_perl must be creating the connections upon the same HENV.
The bug appears to be fixed in version 2.3.1 but we have not yet certified that out driver can work with 2.3.1.  See the 2.3.1 release notes at
http://www.unixodbc.org/ where the last item says:
"Driver version was not being held when a second connection was made to the driver"
The Driver Manager would "forget" that we are an ODBC V3 driver and try intereacting with us as an ODBC V2 driver for the second connection (which fails).
The workaround is to create a new HENV for each connection but I'm not sure if this is possible in mod_perl.

  • Oracle 8i/9i ODBC driver for ARM-Linux

I may need an ODBC driver for Oracle
for the arm-linux platform in the near
future. Does anyone know if such a thing
exists and where to get it?
    Michael

Oracle doesn't produce such a beast. The main problem in doing so is that Microsoft provides a lot of the infrastructure for ODBC on Windows only. In order to use ODBC on another platform, you have to port that infrastructure, which Oracle isn't likely to do.
You might try Merant or <http://www.unixodbc.com>, both of which provide third-party drivers that might be appropriate for you.

  • RAID VIA driver for Linux

    Hi,
I am trying to run Linux (Suse 9.0) on a Dual Opeteron configuration with a RAID 0 (stripping) managed by the VIA chipset (VIA® VT8237™ Chipset). I could let Linux do the stripping over LVM but I would prefer to get the VIA chip to do it.
The Linux driver delivered by Via is not in the public domain and the only build addon driver are given for aging Linux versions (e.g. ReadHat 7.2).
MSI does not provide anything :(
I have followed the procedure and compiled the VIA driver (viamraid.o) and linked it with the Via proprietary library (viaprvraidm.o).
When I load the home made VIA driver during the kernel install I have an error :
    symbol scsi_register_Ra89d400e  unresolved
    symbol scsi_unregister_R068d2de1 unresolved
I guess that the via librayry has been compiled with and old version of the Linux kernel and these entry points do not exist any more.
Would someone know how to by-pass that error ?
Is letting Linux manage the RAID by soft the only solution ?
    Regards
    Dominique

Thanks for your input but this is not applicable to the Suse 9.0 which includes a lot of port back from the 2.6 kernel. The driver posted on the via site do not work.
Actually the VIA chipset is supported by Suse 9.0 but some problems need to be overcomed to succeed.
I have written a documentation which explain how to do that installation with Suse 9.0.
    it is available at http://www.le-foll.demon.co.uk/linux

  • Oracle JDBC Driver for Linux

I'm looking for a place to download an Oracle JDBC driver for Linux. I have installed Oracle 8.1.5 for Linux, but don't find the driver either in the installation, nor on the CD. Can anyone point me to someplace I might be able to find it?
Also, generic help in setting this up to work, JDBC API calls would also be of great help.

    1) You need classes111.zip usually located at
    $ORACLE_HONE/jdbc/lib.
    2) Add classes111.zip to CLASSPATH and export
    3) If you use thin driver your code should look like:
    Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    // Connect to the database
// You must put a database name after the @ sign in the
    connection URL.
// You can use either the fully specified SQL*net syntax or
    a short cut
// syntax as <host>:<port>:<sid>. The example uses the
    short cut syntax.
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection
    (jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:ORACLE_SID,
    USER_NAME, PASSWOED);
    null
