LINUX flash-plugin

I installed CentOS about a month ago, installed flash-plugin,
no problem, then i reinstalled my CentOS, tried to reinstall
plugin, it installs, yet when I'm accessing adobe.com (or others
flash based sites) I'm no longer seeing flash
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -q flash-plugin
flash-plugin-10.0.12.36-release
[root@localhost ~]#
it is possible that last time I've used previous version of
flash-plugin, maybe even 9.x?
anyone having same issue? or know how to fix this?

I'm having the same issue.... you tube works but other sites
say I do not have flash. I am downgrading to version 9.
Looks like it comes down to sites with incorrect flash
detection.

  • Flash plugin 10.3 not working in SUSE linux enterprise 10 version.

OS using: SUSE linux enterprise 10 version
    current Flash Plugin: 9.0
I have downloaded the latest version of Flash plugin 10.3. for linux and replaced the old flash.so file with the new one. but after updating, i got only blank white screen. When i rigth click on the browser, i can see flash plugin 10.3 menu. I don't know what is the issue. Flash plugin 9 is working fine without any issue. I browse through adobe website and findout some additional libraries are required for FP 10. Is that the problem now. If so how can i fix that. Somebody please help me out.

Sorry, I know nothing about Linux; it was the only idea I had.
The only other suggestion I have is to try updating the device drivers for the video adapter, but I'm not sure this will fix the problem.
Hopefully someone from Adobe can have a look at your problem tomorrow at US daytime.

  • How to add the flash plugin in firefox beta linux x86_64

Someone give me the solution in a live chat session so I share it here.
If you are testing firefox under linux (x86_64 in my case) and the flash plugin is installed but not detected by firefox, it's probably because you are testing it in a single user environment.
For example, you have downloaded and unarchived firefox beta in your home directory :
    /home/toto/downloads/firefox
And flash plugin was already installed in :
    /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
All you have to do is to create a personal plugin directory :
    mkdir -p ~/.mozilla/plugins
And then, copy the flash plugin :
    cp -a /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/

A symbolic link to that file should be sufficient.

  • Linux: Instance Invalid error returned by flash plugin

    Hi there,
I'm having some problems getting netscape plugins to run from
my application; I hope somebody can help me with this.
I am writing a Qt application in Linux to play flash files.
Basically, what I'm trying to do is running the flash plugin from
my own little test application. I am able to receive the Plugin
function pointers, name, description. But when I call the plugin
function NPP_New with a valid instance ( NPP) parameter, it returns
    "NPERR_INSTANCE_INVALID_ERROR".
When I use the same code with npflash.so (
    http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/),
it does not give me any error and creates a valid plugin instance.
Is there something specific that I need to pass to Adobe plugin?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mugdha.

  • Flash plugin detected but not working (Firefox 22 on Linux)

    Hi all,
I can't get the flash plugin to work. It's installed, detected in about:plugins, but when I visit adobes's test page at http://www.adobe.com/fr/shockwave/welcome/ , I just get the usual " you need a plugin to view this content" thing.
This happenned since I migrated from Mageia 1 to Mageia 2, and still doesn't work on Mageia 3, which uses Firefox 17 ESR. I then downloaded and installed Firefox 22 directly from Mozilla, still with no luck. I've reset my profile, tried to use an empty profile, tried disabling all add-ons, still no luck.
    about:plugins displays this:
    File : libflashplayer.so
    Path : /opt/firefox/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so
    Version : 11,2,202,297
    State : Enabled
    Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202
This is the most up-to-date flash version available from Adobe.
Another thing is that this machine is a 32 bits install, on an Athlon XP 3000+ with a Radeon X1650 graphics card. Surprisingly, on another machine, using the same distro but with a 64 bits install, Flash works well.
I'm out of ideas now, so any hint would be welcome. Thank you.

Shockwave also known as Shockwave for Director is not the same as the Shockwave Flash Player.

  • How to enable sound in Adobe Flash plugin in Linux ?

I installed the Flash plugin from Adobe's yum repo, but there is no sound. When I look on the online settings manager, there is no control to set the sound output device.
On my system, there are multiple sound devices, only one of which works for playback - hw:1,0 in ALSA. In applications which
allow me to choose an audio device, that works.
The Totem media player, like Flash, has no audio settings.
But when I use gnome-sound-properties to set the default playback device to "ALC889 analog", Totem works. Flash does not.

    No, no pulseaudio
However, I've solved it. Per http://www.seehuhn.de/pages/alsa, If I set the default ALSA device to card 1, then restart Firefox, Flash sound works. As does "aplay" with no options.
This also works to fix the same issue with the built-in OGG player in Firefox, per my question https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/929698

  • Flash plugin problem in linux

    Hi
I am running debian (lenny) and my browsers (firefox, iceweasel, epiphany, you name it) crash when I try to maximize a youtube video. Below is the error message:
epiphany-browser: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so: undefined symbol: gtk_widget_get_window
I have the latest flash plugin (10.x) installed (youtube video wont start otherwise)
Can anyone suggest a way around it?
    BTW, adobe sucks

That sounds like an answer from a flash developer.
If the flashplugin.so had a dependency, the dependency should have been listed in the install package. There are hundreds of functions like this gtk_window and the failure occurs only for this. I don't accept it is the fault of gtk/debian. Adobe ought to re-make their install package, or better still, allow the community to take care of it by open-sourcing flash player

  • Flash plugin hangs all browsers on my mac

Starting about a week ago, about 1/3 of sites that use flash cause my browser to hang.   It's not browser specific - happens the same in Firefox, Safari, and Opera.   Symptom is complete freeze of the browser, requiring force quit.   An easy reproduce is http://www.chase.com ; that site crashes my browser with 100% repeatability.
Disabling the flash plugin completely fixes the problem, but then I can't see flash content.
    System details:
    OS:  Mac OS X 10.5.8
    Hardware:   Mac Pro Quad-core 2.66Ghz
    Flash player version:  10.0.43_34
    Browser: All
I have already tried all of the following:
          • Uninstalling / reinstalling flash player.
          • Deleting/rebuilding browser profiles
          • Installing every version of player 10.x available in the archive, and a couple versions of 9.x ... all cause the same problem.
    Interesting note:
         • Problem does not occur on my MacBook Pro, which has a nearly identical software configuration.
I have filed a bugreport, but what good does that do me?  I don't even have privileges to view the bugreport, so I don't know whether it's been responded to or not.   In the meantime, half the web is unusable because everybody uses flash.

I had this exact same problem with my macbook pro 2.6Ghz laptop
I was running OSX 10.5.7 with flash 8 or so when some websites I frequent forced me to upgrade. The player didn't work off the bat and after re installing the player as well as all my browsers, repairing permissions I was starting to lose hope. I got the latest system update to 10.5.8 and afterward determined it was the plugin itself that was the problem. Couldn't fix it by removing the plugin from my library files, and even worse couldn't find Flash 8 or 9 ANYWHERE to downgrade.
The installer itself is pretty useless as you can only choose the drive to install the plugin and not integrate it seperately into your browsers as you choose. I suppose this is for convenience, but when it doesn't work it's a real bummer. Some linux users I know have far more problems with flash 10 than I do, so I'm thankful to have recieved at least minimal support for my platform from Adobe.
I hypothesized that Adobe simply did not create a very versatile plugin, and that since everyone and their dog has snow leopard (with no flash problems whatsoever) that snow leopard managed to recieve better support. Sure enough installing snow leopard and re-installing the plugin has yielded no problems so far. Good thing I had a free snow leopard upgrade disk with my computer or I, like many other people here, would still be unsatisfied.
What has flash 10 done for me that flash 8 hasn't? Nothing but headaches so far.
    Overall Adobe satisfaction rating: 3/10
You guys have made great code in the past! Stop being lazy!

  • Will there be a 'Pepper' Linux Flash Player available from Google for versions after 11.2?

    Adobe has stated that:
"For Flash Player releases after 11.2, the Flash Player browser plugin for Linux will only be available via the “Pepper” API as part of the Google Chrome browser distribution and will no longer be available as a direct download from Adobe. "
To me this sounds like going forward, after 11.2,  all Linux Flash Players will be released by Google as part of Chrome using Pepper and not by Adobe - but that there will be Linux Flash Players after 11.2, its just that they are only available in Chrome. However most people in the community seem to have interpreted this to mean 11.2 is the last Linux Flash Player ever other than 5 years of security updates from Adobe. Could an Adobe employee please clarify? Will there be Linux Flash Players, via Pepper and Chrome, for 11.3, 11.4. ...12 and so on? This is crutially important for those using the Flash Player within the embeded Linux market.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

  • Help! The problem Flash Plugin was not found !

    Help!
I get a message in Dreamweaver
The problem Flash Plugin was not found ! To view Flash content in Live View install the
    Netscape/Firefox Flash Plugin from "adobe.com".
I only use Chrome and Internet Explorer, I haveinstalled Safari and Firefox.
    What to do?

Unfortunately Flash is installed in different ways on different browsers.  I have the whole CS suite, so it might be possible there is no Flash player installer in the basic DW installation.  What you need to do is as DW is telling you and download the Flash Player to install.  IE uses ActiveX to install Flash and Chrome has it's own and Google updates the Flash player with its browser which may not directly correspond to the Adobe updates.
If you go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ in IE click on the "Different Operating System or Browser?" link at the top.  Click on your operating system which I will assume is Windows because the Mac only has one installer and you don't strike me as a Linux or Solaris user.  Then select "Flash Player 10.3 For Windows - Other Browsers".  Run the installer and you will be good to go.

  • Flash-plugin not working

Operating System is Linux (OEL) 5.5.
After upgrading browser to FIrefox 10.0.5, Adobe download site recommended Flash-plugin 11.2.202.236.  Installed on Linux  using 'rpm'.  Started browser and entered 'about:plugin" which listed the shockwave flash plugin.  BUT, when URL to the Adobe test page entered, the flash 'movie' did not display anything .. just blank box.  I've deinstalled and reinstalled, and searched numerous websites for help .. but nothing helpful.  PLEASE, help!

  • Flash plugin installation for Firefox browser

I have a very simple question:
I am running Linux, and I use the latest Firefox browser.
From this site (Adobe) I downloaded the flash plugin
    "flash-plugin-9.0.124.0-release.i386.rpm". Then I installed the
package with the "rpm -Uvh ... " command (as superuser of course).
It appeared that the installation succeeded. Afterwards, the
command "rpm -q flash-plugin" shows that it is installed. However,
Firefox still does not see the plash player. What else do I need to
    do? Can anybody help?
    Thanks for your suggestions.

    try this
    First, close running Firefox.
    Open the terminal (shell prompt)
    Install Flash Player
Type the following command to install :
    $ sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
Some people might find voice is not working with newly
    installed flash player.
Type following commands to solve this problem
    $ sudo apt-get install alsa-oss
    $ gksudo gedit /etc/firefox/firefoxrc
Find line that read as FIREFOX_DSP and set to :
    FIREFOX_DSP="aoss"
    Save and close the file.
Close Firefox and restart it again.

  • Way to Upgrade Memory for Flash Plugin (v11) for Firefox (v10)?

    Hello!
I've been searching far and wide for an answer to this to no avail, so I'm hoping someone here can help me.  As a part of my position at work, I am trying to work with a web-based Flash application connected to a Java back-end server.  The data being rendered on the Flash side is very large and expansive, with many containers/layers involved.  Since the processing seems to stall, then eventually crash the Flash Plugin in Firefox, is there any way to bump up the memory assigned to the Flash Plugin from within Firefox?  I did see that the memory allocation is controlled by the browser, not the Flash Plugin, but I have been unable to find any place that describes how to accomplish this memory adjustment within firefox for flash plugin at all.
Thanks, in advance, for your help!
