Linux-grsec-lts Build Error
Hello everyone,
After the following output:

DEPMOD 3.2.30-2-grsec-lts
I got the following error:

==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build linux-grsec-lts.
If this is an AUR package problem, please fix this.

Sincerely,
Cylinder57
Second Edit:
I realize that giving out information on one of the programs that I use is not necessary.
Third Edit:
Considering that the following directory could not be opened:
/tmp/yaourt-tmp-user/aur-linux-grsec-lts/pkg/linux-grsec-lts/lib/...
Notice the /lib ...
Also notice that these directories could be opened:
/tmp/yaourt-tmp-user/aur-linux-grsec-lts/pkg/linux-grsec-lts/boot
/tmp/yaourt-tmp-user/aur-linux-grsec-lts/pkg/linux-grsec-lts/etc
/tmp/yaourt-tmp-user/aur-linux-grsec-lts/pkg/linux-grsec-lts/usr
/tmp/yaourt-tmp-user/aur-linux-grsec-lts/pkg/linux-grsec-lts/usr/lib
Finally, notice that /lib is a now a symlink to the /usr/lib directory.
(See: http://www.archlinux.org/news/the-lib-d … a-symlink/ for more details.)
The whole /lib becoming a symlink could be the source of the problem...

Hi again,
the relevant developer took a look again at your issue and answered with:
The following patch should fix the compiler error:

[SOLVED] linux-grsec Error, grsec_proc_gid undeclared
Hello, I've been trying to build linux-grsec from the AUR, and keep getting this error.
Kernel: 3.5.5
Patch: grsecurity-2.9.1-3.5.5-201210061727.patch
CC [M] drivers/hid/hid-microsoft.o
fs/proc/proc_net.c: In function ‘get_proc_task_net’:
fs/proc/proc_net.c:116:33: error: ‘grsec_proc_gid’ undeclared (first use in this function)
fs/proc/proc_net.c:116:33: note: each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in
make[2]: *** [fs/proc/proc_net.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [fs/proc] Error 2
make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
LD drivers/hsi/clients/built-in.o
I don't know how to code in C.... I am assuming an undeclared error is super simple to fix. How might I go about declaring ‘grsec_proc_gid’ in fs/proc/proc_net.c ?

Linux-rt-lts: "Bad page state"
My laptop has been experiencing several crashes over the last couple of weeks. The errors seem to be appearing in the kernel logs, so I'll reproduce them here. I don't understand them but maybe someone else will - happy to provide more information if needed.
From uname -a:
Linux 3.0.33-rt54-1-rt-lts #1 SMP PREEMPT RT
Dell Latitude D400, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD.
Here's what typically appears in the log - it's not just with glxgears, but other programs too.

Error 7 Build Error - File not found
I am trying to build my software to another computer over the network. I am able to access the directory I am installing to and the program is not indicating any build errors(all VI's are not broken). This error only occurs when building. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Nate
The Build was unsuccessful
Possible Reasons: An included VI or one of its dependencies does not exist. Open all Startup/Exported/Dynamically called VIs, recompile them (Ctrl-Shift Click the run arrow), and save them to update their dependencies.

OAS 407 Build Error on RedHat 6.0
Hi All,
Furhter to my last post, can someone tell me if there is
something I am missing here. Below is the build error I get
when trying to build OAS407. I have RedHat 6.0 and I have made
sure I have the latest glibc installed, based on the notes for
the patch for oracle 8.0.5.1.
Any information would be hugely appreciated.
thanks

nullSorry, but officialy the OAS 4071 is not supported under RedHad 6
(because of the glibc 2.1). We ran into the same problems. Oracle
Support has no possibilities (in Germany) to build a version
which runs under glibc21. We shall wait to version 4.08.
I hope this will help you. Downgrade to RedHad 5.2 an it3s
running.
Greetings

[SOLVED] [mkinitcpio] initramfs "build error" messages since v.18-1
Hi everybody,
Since the update from mkinitcpio 17-1 to 18-1 I get those build error messages while running mkinitcpio:

However I can still boot and everything seems mostly fine. I haven't changed anything to my /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, here are the only customized parts:
MODULES="i915 dm_snapshot"
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block keymap encrypt lvm2 filesystems keyboard fsck
I'm using an encrypted root (ext4 over LVM over LUKS) and boot partition is contained in an (unencrypted) LVM logical volume. I also specify a few i915 module options in an /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf file as per the Intel Graphics wiki page:
# Intel graphics driver power-saving option :
options i915 i915_enable_rc6=7 i915_enable_fbc=1 lvds_downclock=1
Never had any such warnings before, but now it appears each and every time I update or reinstall my kernel (the default one). I went through Mkinitcpio wiki page, tried putting question marks after the listed modules and rebuilding but it didn't change anything... Any ideas?
Btw, I don't use any specific compression option and had the regular lzo name change during the same full system upgrade that updated mkinitcpio and linux.
Thanks
Last edited by Neitsab (2014-08-04 11:51:19)Yes indeed, removing /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf~ hidden backup file solved the warning issue. Strange but thanks ukhippo, I hadn't thought about checking other subforums!

Compiling VMtools on Oracle Linux 6.2 gives errors
I am trying to compile the vmtools on a Oracle Linux 6.2 VMware installation. I'm getting strange compilation errors on all the vmtools. Log pasted below.
I have found thread VMware Tools and Oracle Linux Howto and followed the items in there with no help and no change.
yum -y install kernel-headers is all up to date
yum -y install kernel-devel is all up to date
Here are the issues I see:
1. Compiling the shared folder says linux/smp_lock.h does not exist, and then fails with SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED undeclared and unknow field `get_sb'
2. The network device driver fails in vmxnet.c
3. The vmblock module fails in dentry.c

You must restart your X session before any mouse or graphics changes take

You can now run VMware Tools by invoking the following command:
"/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox" during an X server session.
To enable advanced X features (e.g., guest resolution fit, drag and drop, and
file and text copy/paste), you will need to do one (or more) of the following:
1. Manually start /usr/bin/vmware-user
2. Log out and log back into your desktop session; and,
3. Restart your X session.
Enjoy,
--the VMware teamActually, I did exactly that:
yum -y install gcc
yum -y install kernel-uek-devel-`uname -r`
yum -y install kernel-uek-headers-`uname -r`
The headers with the uname gave an error that the headers do not exist. The others ran fine.
I did:
yum -y install kernel-uek-headers
and that worked.
However, NONE of this changed the errors - they were exactly the same before and after. The problem is still not resolved.
However, I did try a different approach. I found the VMware Operating System Packages (OSPs) through the following link: http://www.vmware.com/download/packages.html. I installed that, and it seemed to work fine.
The problem that we had, which was the original reason why I wanted to have the VMware tools, was that the disk was sized too small and I thought with the tools we could resize the disk. It didn't work, we could not edit the size in the VMware console. So we ended up blowing away that VM and are in the process of recreating it at a larger size. I'll take a snapshot of the state before the OSP install so I can test the compile version in case someone posts something useful here. -
I used aura to install linux-grsec, and after a while it said failed due to unresolved dependancies (gradm and linux-pax-flags). So I installed the two missing packages also using aura, and it finished without errors. Second installation of linux-grsec went also with no errors, but after reboot it gave me kernel panic.
Here is the photo of kernel panic:

Last edited by ewaller (2014-02-19 14:15:46)The list of packages included quite some KDE binaries. Your login hanged on the next binary hit by this problem. You have to convert all binaries from PT_GNU_STACK to PT_PAX_FLAGS to make it work. One method is trial and error (check dmesg). The other method is doing this for the entire system.
The binary your box hangs on has PT_GNU_STACK. One dangerous method is to scan the entire system for the GNU_STACK and convert it with paxctl if it exists. Another method which I post here does this uncondinionally:
find /usr/bin /usr/sbin /usr/lib -type f -print0 | xargs -0 paxctl -c
Make a backup of all your data. The program gives output like this:
file leafpad had a PT_GNU_STACK program header, converted
To be really honest, I have no idea how does old PT_GNU_STACK sections got there in the first place. Paxctl should not create those. Did you use chpax by any chance? Furthermore, did you modify the .config of the linux-grsec package? -

As you can see, I’m just using the BSP that came from Xilinx. When I run ‘petalinux-build’, I get the ‘ownership / Invalid argument’ errors.
I have changed all my Xilinx and petalinux directories to be owned by me and changed all the files to be readable/writable/executable by all (chmod 777)
I have also attached the verbose output from petalinux-build.
Please advise.
Regards,
Misha
I have worked with 2014.4 bsp and i don't see this issue.
Can you try creating a project in /scratch location and see if the same scenario is seen?
What linux distribution are you using?

Ptrace denied for Windows application under Wine using linux-grsec
Hello,
whenver I boot the linux-grsec kernel I'm not able to start a specific Windows application which works flawlessly with the normal kernel.
journalctl reports:
Mai 02 00:00:57 MYARCH kernel: grsec: denied ptrace of /usr/bin/wine-preloader(TPW.EXE:4493) by /usr/bin/wineserver[wineserver:4454] uid/euid:1000/1000 gid/egid:100/100, parent /usr/lib/systemd/systemd[systemd:1] uid/euid:0/0 gid/egid:0/0

I guess that this could be avoided by disabling
kernel.grsecurity.harden_ptrace
and/or
kernel.grsecurity.ptrace_readexec
in /etc/sysctl.d/05-grsecurity-conf. But that's not what I really want. Is there another way how to circumvent this problem?I'm seeing a similar problem with a Steam game that grsec occasionally causes to crash. Here's cllp from the journal:

Report Generation Toolkit and Office 10 - build errors
Using LabView 2011 and Report Generation Toolkit 2011.
After installing Office 10, I would get build error for Excel-Print.Vi and Excel-SetCell.vi and build is then aborted.
2011/vi.lib/addons/_office/_excelsub.llb/Excel-Print.vi.
Says it is unable to save a vi without a block diagram.
Uninstalled Office 10 and reinstalled Office 2003 and build went thru just fine.
I can program using Excel 2003 and the compiled executable will work on another computer with Excel 2011 but once I install Office 10 on my LabVIEW computer I cannot build.
Can't believe I could be the only one to experience this. Any workarounds?Duplicate Post

Build error: an input parameter is invalid
I am looking for help with a build error. I am getting the following error message when I try to build a project in 8.5.1:
Error 1 occurred at Open VI Reference in AB_Source_VI.lvclasspen_Reference.vi->AB_Build.lvclass:Copy_Files.vi->AB_Application.lvclass:Copy_Files.vi->AB_Build.lvclass:Build.vi->AB_EXE.lvclass:Build.vi->AB_Engine_Build.vi->AB_Build_Invoke.vi->AB_Build_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @.

NI-488: Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller-In-Charge.
VI Path:

Did you check to see if the KB Hunter posted resolves the issue?
If you're opening a project in a newer version of LabVIEW, then there's a chance the mass compile tool might work. It will open and save all of the VIs within a specified folder. The tool is fairly self-explanatory, and you can access it from within LabVIEW by going to "Tools --> Advanced --> Mass Compile..."
Good luck!

I added a new xaml page to my project and copy and pasted some regular snippets to it that I've done before to many other pages. After all the changes looked good to me, I did a rebuild and got this error in the app.xaml.cs which I hadn't changed.
I also get the same error in the new page I created. It seems that the xaml design and code are not linked because there are other build errors in the new page's code file that reference other controls in it's design. Those references also look
ok to me but they get the similar "The name '.....' does not exist." error.
walter finkHi,
You don’t have “x:Class="DIYMedAPP.App"”
in your App.xaml file, which caused such error in App.xaml.cs. Please add it.
<Application
x:Class="DIYMedAPP.App"
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
xmlns:phone="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Phone.Controls;assembly=Microsoft.Phone"
xmlns:shell="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Phone.Shell;assembly=Microsoft.Phone">
<!--Application Resources-->
<Application.ApplicationLifetimeObjects>
<!--Required object that handles lifetime events for the application-->

Launching="Application_Launching"
Closing="Application_Closing"

Build Error while trying to import a dc from the track.
Hi All,
I imported a Java perspective Dc from a track to local developement,
When i tried to build locally developed dc, but i was getting a build error as
"error reading C:\Documents and Settings
.dtc\0\DCs\dc_ext_lib\_comp\gen\default\public\Excel_API\lib\java\Jexcel-install.jar; error in opening zip file"
There was a error in opening the JExcel file.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
AnilHi Anil,
I think the jar file(Jexcel-install.jar) is zipped.Unzip the zar file from the folder......lib/java.
Or else remove the jar file and import the application into NWDS,then add the jar externally from the NWDS.
Make sure that the dc does not have any files.
Once you import the dc rightclick on the prj-.properties-.add the external jar file or directly place the jar file in java folder.

How to remove build errors while creating an Order App. for Handhelds
Hi Friends,
As per the Tutorial: Developing an Order Application for Handhelds provided at the given link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmobile71/helpdata/en/8F/0B674240449C60E10000000A1550B0/frameset.htm
I am creating mobile application for PDA . I have finished many steps but at one step I am getting build errors.
The step is when we create service and paste the code provided in the document.
public void generateTestData() {
//@@begin implementation
if( !(((Order_srvModel)OcaRoot.getInstance().getModel(Order_srvModel.class)).getOrderOrderheaders().size() > 0))
OrderOrderheader order = ((Order_srvModel)OcaRoot.getInstance().getModel(Order_srvModel.class)).createOrderOrderheader();
order.setOrderid("0023378");
order.setLongtext("Repair front door");
order.setServiceunit("SU01");
order.setCreatedOn(Date.valueOf("2007-06-30"));
order.setCreatedAt(Time.valueOf("08:45:00"));
order = ((Order_srvModel)OcaRoot.getInstance().getModel(Order_srvModel.class)).createOrderOrderheader();
order.setOrderid("0024897");
order.setLongtext("Analyse malfunction");
order.setServiceunit("SU01");
order.setCreatedOn(Date.valueOf("2007-07-01"));
order.setCreatedAt(Time.valueOf("09:00:00"));
order = ((Order_srvModel)OcaRoot.getInstance().getModel(Order_srvModel.class)).createOrderOrderheader();
order.setOrderid("0034534");
order.setLongtext("Repair escalator");
order.setServiceunit("SU03");
order.setCreatedOn(Date.valueOf("2007-07-03"));
order.setCreatedAt(Time.valueOf("19:45:00"));
order = ((Order_srvModel)OcaRoot.getInstance().getModel(Order_srvModel.class)).createOrderOrderheader();
order.setOrderid("0024589");
order.setLongtext("Analyse computer problem");
order.setServiceunit("SU04");
order.setCreatedOn(Date.valueOf("2007-07-01"));
order.setCreatedAt(Time.valueOf("15:45:00"));
order = ((Order_srvModel)OcaRoot.getInstance().getModel(Order_srvModel.class)).createOrderOrderheader();
order.setOrderid("0027890");
order.setLongtext("Repair door lock");
order.setServiceunit("SU03");
order.setCreatedOn(Date.valueOf("2007-07-05"));
order.setCreatedAt(Time.valueOf("10:00:00"));
OcaRoot.getInstance().commit();
//@@end
The issue is I am getting a red line below each set methods as I have shown by underlining. I am struggling with how to rectify the error.When I write ORDER and write . after it , it shows only get methods in the popup not the set methods.
Please suggest .
It will be a great help.
