  • Linux not installing on my SATA HD on IDE channel 2

    Hi.
I need some help ´cause i´m not able to install linux.
My PC is Core2Duo - MB Gigabyte VM900M with VIA chisets
HD 320gb in IDE channel 2 and 02mb Ram
Error is something like: "not find any drivers to installing a Linux files"
Seems the instalation don´t reconise my HD.
    Regards.
    Marcos
    PS.: sorry my bad english

I had issues recently installing Linux on a brand new server becuase it didn't recognise the SATA disks. Fortunately, I had the luxury of using another machine but the way round the problem is to find the Linux drivers for your disk-types.
Hopefully the manufacturer will have created some!
    cheers,

  • Virtualbox ORACLE Linux not installing

Not sure what the issue is. I have Virtual box - upgraded to today's version
I got a copy of Oracle linux (6) at a seminar today. The goal is to install Oracle Linux on the Virtual box to test it.
During the install the keyboard commands (options?) flash by too fast to read.
Installation says the kernel is not right "This kernel requires x8-64 CPU, but only detected an i686CPU."
Well it is a 64 bit CPU.
I tried it on a 32 bit CPU box and got the same result.
    alas. is this a bust?

Here's some additional information that seems relevant to your problem: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2061
You could also check your VBox.log file, which contains, among a lot of other things, detailed information about the host CPU type and supported features.
I suggest to check if there is a BIOS update available for your computer, or try to use a 32-bit Oracle Linux distribution, which you can download for free from https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux
Regarding your hardware upgrade question, check the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization
+As of 2009[update] not all Intel processors supported VT-x, which Intel uses to segment its market.[20] Support for VT-x may even vary between different versions (as identified by Intel's sSpec Number) of the same model number.[21] [22] For a complete and up-to-date list see the Intel website.[23] Even in May, 2011, the Intel CPU P6100 which is in laptops does not support hardware virtualization [1].+

  • Skype will not install on ASUS tablet

    Hi,
I bought a new Android tablet last week: ASUS transformer tf03CX.
It seemed to work just fine until I tried to start Skype and tapped the Skype icon.
After a few seconds it said: Installation interrupted (OK / Send information).
No matter which one of these two options I chosed, it either did nothing or  presented me with EULA to accept, then did nothing.
I tried to remove and install Skype without result (the same behaviour as described above. Looking for more info I found "Skype installed". Perhaps therefore I can not install it anymore, even an earlier version as suggested by members of Skype community.
    Please help me.
    Greetings.
    [Removed for privacy]

Okay, i figured it out. You have to reset your windows store, if you dont know how theres videos on youtube. Then try to install skype, if it doesnt work restart your tablet and try again. Mine installed but it wouldnt open because it said there was some problems with the app. To resolve them i went to my account on my store and clicked on "my apps". After that i looked for skype and clicked install and it said there was problems and it needed to fix it so i clicked okay and now its working fine. I hope this helped!

At which point the ZSM is stopped as are all of the ZDM services. I also don't have a /usr/tmp/ZSM71_POLYDIST directory(Shaun, not sure why you named it this).
So, it looks like it steps through until step 5... which I think is where it is copying the files to the directories, but it seems to stop there.
Can anyone assist on this? Or would it be possible to get the SPK with the additional files?
    Thanks
    Stuart Beckett

    Stuart,
the SPK is Novell copyright, so I don't think I can share it with you,
and it includes a heck of a lot of my work on scripting the process
(not the install itself, just the pre-requisites and determining what
    version you have :) )
For Linux you can get the files by downloading the standard update - I
take these files, perform any pre-requisite checks, then run the rpm
commands as shown in the readme for the ZDML files. The reason for the
strange directory is that I inherited the original version of this some
years ago from the guy who wrote the install CPKs for ZDM7SP1, and I've
been updating ever since. The variable linux_temp_dir is used in the
SPK to determine where the files go - maybe you don't have the
permissions set, but I'm not sure what the issue is...
If you open a SR, it will only come to me, since I'm the only person
    who works on this :)

  • SB X-Fi Driver Installation Problem (X-Fi does not install on Asus A8N-VM CSM

    Dear forum members,
I want to install Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme on my Windows XP x64 Professional computer, but i am not able to succesfully finish 64bit X-Fi driver installation. Whether i use newer x64bit X-Fi beta driver or older official x64bit X-Fi driver, the installation of the driver stops at the end of the installation, when "CTDVINST.DLL" file is being installed and MY COMPUTER REBOOTS instantly. After the reboot, i am being asked to install Soundblaster X-Fi driver again and again. So all the X-Fi software installs well, but when i want to upgrade to x64bit drivers downloaded from Creative web site, the installation process reboots my computer right at the end of it, when "CTDVINST.DLL" file (it seems to be the last file in the driver package) is mentioned.
Help me please solve this problem, so that i can use my new Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme on my computer soon.
    Thank you very much.

any help would be most welcome
    --------------->
    - new Windows installation did not help,
    - it is not caused by x64bit operating system, beacuse it did not install neither on Win XP 32bit
    - i tryed both driver updates (2 and 3) on both operating systems
    - i tryed to start driver installation from X-FI Driver\Drivers\Support\ctzapxx.exe, no change at all
    - i tryed to uninstall previous driver first through ctzapxx.exe as well
    - i tryed to install the driver on fresh installation of both Windows XP x64bit and x32bit
driver installation reboots the computer just a percent before it should finish, allways, no matter how i try to install the driver
i have heard about Creative sending to some owners of nForce430 motherboards new version of Sb X-Fi, which works with nForce430, is it true?Message Edited by misadlouhy on 06-3-2006 05:23 AMMessage Edited by misadlouhy on 06-3-2006 05:24 AM

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Every time I launch Firefox it pops up an error stating "Firefox could not install this item because "install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem."

Firefox could not install this item because "install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem.
The statement above is in the pop up error box every time, when I launch Firefox. If I click ok in the box Firefox then opens. How do I fix this initializing/launch problem?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />

  • Can NOT install Standard ONE on a 2 quad-core processor machine (licensing)

This is from Oracle's licensing (July 2009):
    ===================================
“When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One or Standard Edition in the product name, a processor is counted equivalent to a socket. However, in the case of multi-chip modules, each chip in the multi-chip module is counted as one occupied socket.”
This is also from Oracle's licensing (July 2009):
    =====================================
“Oracle Database Standard Edition can only be licensed on servers that have a maximum capacity of 4 sockets. Oracle Standard Edition One may only be licensed on servers that have a maximum capacity of 2 sockets.”
Now, this is what it seems to be:
    ===========================
1 quad-core AMD/Intel Xeon chip counts as 4x0.5=2 sockets (reached the maximum capacity limit in the licensing terms) by simply using 1 (single) quad-core CPU box.
and that's it - you can NOT install Standard Edition ONE on a 2 quad-core CPU Linux box :(((((
    For a AMD/Intel multi-core Linux boxes
    ===============================
it can be a single quad-core CPU box (4x0.5=2 sockets -- but, paying twice the processor license - because it is now 2 sockets) or
it can be a 2 dual-core CPU (2X2x0.5=2 sockets -- but, paying twice the processor license) or
it can be a single dual-core CPU box (2x0.5=1 -- paying only a single processor license)
I think it is time for Oracle to revisit the licensing terms for Standard ONE edition and change it to simple socket count (don't count the cores). It is getting more expensive to use Oracle Standard ONE.

However, Sales can request changes or addendums to the specific contract, which are reviewed by Oracle Legal and approved by Sales senior management (right up to Charles and Larry if needed).
That said, very few Oracle employees are allowed to discuss any aspect of licensing terms. The official first point of contact is Sales, and they may only be the carrier pigeon of missives from the authority.
When someone buys Oracle, OLSA is the only legally binding document. Everybody should keep the copy of the OLSA which is in effect at the time of their purchase, given that OLSA can be modified at a later date from the actual purchase. That happens to be true of any license or sales agreement, from Oracle or not. Also note that if you purchase support, renewals may affect the original OLSA.
And it's one of the reasons old timers in these forums (such as Dan and myself) will prefix nearly any license discussion in the forums with "check with sales" and suffix it with "and anything you hear on the internet is probably useless in a court of law when you get audited".
and after all that - thanks for digging into the details and posting them.

By the way - what you write is a change of policy. At one time, a box that could support 4 CPU but only had 2 CPU installed would not qualify for SE1. Good news indeed.

  • Why I can not install the iTunes to my new 64bit laptop??? I have never had this kind of problem before on my 32 bit old laptop...

I would like to get a help... I can not install the iTunes to my new (64bit) laptop... Why??? The installation stops somewhere after a few minute, looks like trying to install but can not go through until the end. I had my old (32bit) laptop and i have never had any problem with the installations... My new laptop is Asus (64bit), and the operating system just upgraded from Win8 to Win8.1....

    Hello rafaelfromweymouth
Start with the first article and clear out any files in the Temp folder. You may need to remove iTunes and its related software and finally make sure that you have the 64-bit version of iTunes downloaded to install.

  • Launch Console fails: the vnc viewer is not installed on the manager server and no local vnc viewer is found.

    Hello,
I have created and started a VM image and try to configure this image, but when launching the console I get the error:
"the vnc viewer is not installed on the manager server and no local vnc viewer is found."
I've read the vnc console does not rely on a local version of the vnc client, but uses the java vnc.  From the java log I get:
    Java Web Start 1.6.0_43
Using JRE version 1.6.0_43-b01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
    User home directory = C:\Users\kgraaf
    28-jun-2013 10:17:04 com.oracle.ovm.ras.proxy.RasProxyApplet main
    INFO: ServiceType : VNC
    28-jun-2013 10:17:04 com.oracle.ovm.ras.proxy.external.ViewerLauncherFactory getViewerLauncher
INFO: Os is : windows 7
It is not clear to me yet what is expected to be running where. My configuration is:
    - VM Server 3.1 on Linux host A
    - VM Manager 3.1 on Linux host B
    - Connected via Windows 7 64-bit client via a browser to the Management Server. Let's call this host C
When launching the console it tries to connect to 127.0.0.1:60505 so to localhost and a port#.
    - Given this information I would expect it tries to launch the vncviewer from my management server (host B).
    - /usr/bin/vncviewer is installed on host B, but this appears not to be used.
    - We see java vnc is started on my Windows 7 client (host C) and it tries to connect to 127.0.0.1 (localhost on my Windows client??) and not to the remote management server (host B)!?
    Questions:
1 - Can someone explain what exactly is being executed (from where and to which host) when launching the console?
2 - Is this a java version / Windows 7 related configuration issue? How to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Klaas.

Per Oracle's website - RAN into this a few hours ago...Do it as ROOT on the VM Manager Host
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26996_01/E18548/html/BABFBEIF.html
It is preferred that you install either TightVNC on the Oracle VM Manager host computer. You can get the latest TightVNC package from:
    http://oss.oracle.com/oraclevm/manager/RPMS/http://oss.oracle.com/oraclevm/manager/RPMS/
    Install TightVNC with the command:
    # rpm -ivh tightvnc-java-version.noarch.rpm

  • Problem in accessing a Lotus Notes installed in French from the portlet

    Hi,
We installed the Lotus Notes Portlet on a 9iAS V2 on a solaris Box. The installation of the portlet worked fine and we tried to get the messages from notes.
Accessing a french install of Notes on a Win2K box, we got the following error:
    Error: Lotus Notes Portlet encountered Domino error:4045 Invalid date lotus.domino.NotesException at lotus.domino.cso.Session.createDateTime(Session.java:196) at oracle.lotus.application.LotusProvider.showPortlet(LotusProvider.java:817) at oracle.lotus.application.LotusProvider.process(LotusProvider.java:1091) at oracle.lotus.application.InboxShowRenderer.renderBody(InboxShowRenderer.java:84) at oracle.portal.provider.v1.RenderManager.render(RenderManager.java:165) at oracle.portal.provider.v1.http.ServletProviderResponse.showPortlet(ServletProviderResponse.java:528) at oracle.portal.provider.v1.http.HttpProvider.dispatchProviderAction(HttpProvider.java:660) at oracle.portal.provider.v1.http.HttpProvider.service(HttpProvider.java:390) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:588) at org.apache.jserv.JServConnection.processRequest(JServConnection.java:500) at org.apache.jserv.JServConnection.run(JServConnection.java:321) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:484)
We tried to change the NLS_LANG and NLS_DATE_FORMAT in jserv.properties without any success.
After that, we connected the Lotus external application to an American Notes install on Linux and we didn't got the problem.
Where do i have to modify something to be able to use the portlet WITH my French Notes install ?
    Thanks
    regards

We have the same problem with a spanish Lotus Domino installation.
This is the stack of error shown when display the Domino portlets.
