LINUX OCA 1Z0-403 prerequisits

Hello all
I plan to take the Linux OCA certification.
I already have an LPIC-2 and RHCT.
What do I need to do besides booking and passing the exam?
I see that Oracle has the 1Z0-402 prerequisit but I am not obliged to take it.
How does the process work with Oracle?
I have no experience with Oracle products or with Oracle certification processes?
I find the guidelines on Oracle's website messy and they address more the Oracle DBA certifications.
Has anybody taken this process or can give me any help?
Regards

RegardsWhat you need to do is apply for a 1z0-402 waiver.
The details are here : [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=149]
By the way I am not an authorative Oracle source.
You have arrived in the middle of a period of transition from Prometric to Pearson VUE. You should do all things Oracle in relatation to Pearson VUE ... do not following any guidelines relating to Prometric.
0) I am assuming you have never had an Oracle Testing ID (Promteric Number) in relation to any Oracle Exam.
---- Having Duplicate Oracle Testing numbers is a pain:
1) Get an Oracle Testing Id from Pearson VUE.
How do I register for an exam?
[http://pearsonvue.com/obtainlogin] { may be different if yo already have Pearosn VUE}
This will get you a Oracle Testing ID. THIS WILL STAY WITH YOU FOR LIFE - DO NOT LOSE IT OR GET DUPLICATES
2) Fax (or email) a copy of you certificate to [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=149]
... Your Oracle Testing ID will be useful here .... however exceptionally it is possilbe they cant accept it until you've taken an exam.
3) In terms of the Hands on course procedure that is currently suspended until 28th september or so due to the transiation
See [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=312#2] : How do I sumbit the Hands On Course Requirement Form at Pearson VUE? - which essentially says procedure will be published on 28th september when Hands on Course submission re-opens....
Hope this is of some guidance .....

  • Oracle Linux Certification(1Z0-403)

    Hello, dear professionals,
Yesterday I passed exam 1Z0-403, with mark 92%, is there any certificate available for this exam?
    Thank you in advance.

If you have also passed the 1z0-042 exam (Oracle Linux Fundamentals) or any other certification LPI, Linux+, Ubuntu, Red Hat, or Novell, you will recieve the Oracle Linux Administrator Certified Associate certification.
There is more information in this page: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=149
If you work for an Oracle Partner Company you will also recieve the OPN Certified Specialist designation.

    Hi
there is a study guide available soon Oracle Enterprise Linux Administrator Certified Associate Exam Guide (Exams 1z0-402 and 1z0-403), that why I will take exam ;-)

Unfortunately LPIC expires after 5 years unless you take a higher level or retake same level .....
    RHCT similarly.
The Oracle exam certification relates to OEL/RHEL 4 ... which is a bit oldhat rather than redht nowadays. The advantage for you is it is an easy win, the disadavantage is it doen't really say much mor eabout yourself. RHSA on RHEL 6 might suit and say more .... but might be harder to gain. Any it wouldn't help any Oracle Partnership points iof that was important. However as pointed out you should be able to waiver 1z0-402

This is RHEL/OEL 4 based, so centos or OEL or RHEL could be used as appropriate. They important thing to note is the '4' .. which is now a little ancient ... some things a little different in '5' and '6'. The exam could usefully do with a makeover IMHO.

  • Reference book for Oracle Linux exam 1Z0-402

    Hi gurus!
Can you please give me useful reference books which cover the al topics for Oracle Linux Exam 1Z0-402 preparation?
    Thanks

Can you please give me useful reference books which cover the al topics for Oracle Linux Exam 1Z0-402 preparation?By itself, 1Z0-402 does not grant any certification. Presumably you are going for Oracle Linux Administrator Certified Associate. That certification path also requires passing 1Z0-403. However, you can skip 1Z0-402 if you already have one of several other industry Linux certifications (LPI, Linux+, Ubuntu, Red Hat, or Novell). My recommendation would be to go for one of these certifications, then skip straight to the 1Z0-403 exam. I suggest that for several reasons:
    1. There is a lot more study resources for exams like CompTIAs Linux+ available.
    2. The other Linux certifications are better known than Oracle's.
    3. Since 1Z0-402 by itself does not grant a certification, going this route gets you two certifications for the price of one.

  • OCA 1Z0-051 self-study material guidance

    Hi!
I'm preparing for OCA 1Z0-051 exam and have been reading the book "OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne ORACLE Press Series)". I have few questions:
    - Is the book enough for preparing and passing the exam? If not, what other books do I need to study?
    - Apart from the book's questions, do I also need to try some other exam practice? If yes, could you please provide me the info.
For me it is not possible to attend training. However, I can do self-study. Apart from the above book, if I'm missing something in the self-study, could you please guide me.
Many thanks and looking forward to your kind reply!

Please note that I have not read your mentioned book so I can't comment about it precisely.

So I would suggest that you do more practice about different problems. Thats what is main required for going for the sql paper.

  • Re: OCA 1Z0-147

Hi! This is Agnit Chatterjee! I have completed the OCA 1Z0-007 exam a couple of days back and now looking forward to the preparation of the OCA 1Z0-147 exam. Wanted to know whether or not there is any time limit starting from the day of giving the first OCA exam within which I should give the second exam? I mean I have given the test on 27th of January,2011!!! Within which date should I gave the second exam or are there are no restrictions???

There are no restrictions. The only restriction you may face is if the 147 exam expires. There are currently no plans to retire this exam, but if you are not planning on taking the exam right away, you may just want to continue to check the website to ensure that the exam does not retire before you are ready to take it. We typically give approximately 3 months of notice for a retiring exam. There will be messaging on the exam page. However, as I mentioned above, there are currently no plans to retire this exam.

I am an OCP. I have completed my exams. But at times I feel too dumb. So OCP will not help you, unless you understand the concepts and have hands on experience. unless you live with oracle server. In fact, It may mislead yourself about your knowledge if you get an OCP from those brain dumps. (You may think yourself high, because you are an OCP. But in actual knowledge you will be very low).
To get an OCP from the brain dumps all you need is good memory power. That my 3 year old can do.
But that's not what being a DBA is.

Thanks.I am a little worried as to how you can take and pass the 1z0-007 without knowing the process or where to look for things.
The best answer you may have is that 1z0-007 was taken online and that the proctored exam is a little different, or maybe you were in some form of education institution and you didnt realise for they set you up.
If you visit the [www.oracle.com/education/certification] support/FAQs currently at
    [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1A] this should give details.
Quite frankly the process I go through is to go to the prometric website and go through as if I was going to book an exam but cancel out at the point when i had an idea of the availability of exams at close by prometric centers. Some close to me only operate a few days a month, others are available virtually 5 days a week. (All subject to availability).
I presume you have a prometeric ID ?
On the same path can you people please guide me how to prepare for OCA 1Z0-042 exam so i can score the best in it. See [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
Taking Oracle university course is the best preparation method in my opinion. It is however not necessarily the cheapest.

  • OCA - 1Z0-052

    Hello guys,
I'm having the 1Z0-052 (11g Administration I) exam on monday to have my OCA certification. I already succeded the 1Z0-051 (11g SQL fundamentals) and 1Z0-047 (SQL Expert) and now I'm trying the 1Z0-052.
I read [this book|http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Database-Administration-Guide-1Z0-052/dp/0071591028] and I find the content quite easy. I also managed to do/answer to all the lab questions without any solution. I have the feeling that it's a lot more easier than the SQL Expert and some of its content is more detailled in the 2 previous exams I took. For example, managing constraints, indexes, temporary and external tables, dealing with transactions, BFile datatypes... are more detailled in previous exams than this one.
Maybe the book is not complete? I checked with the [exam topics|http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_052] and the book covers them all. So I was wondering if anyone of you have some advice?
    Thanks

Thanks1z0-047 and 1z0-052 cover different topic areas. 1z0-047 is designed to ensure a very good knowledge of SQL techniques are known ... 1z0-052 is designed to ensure a solid grounding in theory and practice of database administration has been achieved. Both are 'easy' after you gain a solid knowledge of the material, though the level of SQL in 1z0-047 would scare some DBA's to death ... some would be DBA's on this forum seem to want to avoid SQL completely.
Sometimes the book is not enough, sometimes experience counts, and always be preapred to goto the Oracle Documentation as an authorative source. However you do seem to have practiced hard so hopefully it is enough.
Good luck on monday and hopefully it does not give any surprises.

  • OCA: 1Z0-047 Oracle DB SQL Export vs. 1Z0-051 11g: SQL Fundamentals I

    Hi All
Passed my 1Z0-042 today (now that's a monkey off my back, so off to celebrate with something red, fermented & >12%ABV!), and am now looking at which other exam to take to complete the OCA.
Now for me, this looks like a no-brainer....
1Z0-047 has a much wider topic list (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_047) than that of 1Z0-051 (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_051), and has a pass mark of 66% against 60% for the 11g, and is over 40GBP cheaper (I assume because 1Z0-051 is non-proctered).
Am I missing something really obvious??
    Hic!
    bt

    >
    >
    >
Also, if I buy the non-proctered exam today (to head off any further nasty future prices rises...grrr...), how long is it valid for i.e. how long do I have before I need to take it online?
I thnk its unlikely (but I could be wrong) the prices will change much again (particularly upwards) for a bit except/unless currency exchange variations. So I wouldn't rush to book. I think online you can book immediately, and for proctored you should normally have slots a few days in advance at most 5 day centres apart from near end of terms and quarters and possibly on fridays or at the end of special offers.
Although the 1z0-051 is 'non-proctored' I believe it can also be taken proctored for the same price. Doing it online has risks of distraction and any connection issues may be your problem. If I did it online I am sure there would be a someone wishing explore the local electricity substation or play with a JCB when I was attempting to take my exam.

  • Just passed my OCA 1Z0-042

I've just passed my OCA !! Now the work really happens OCP next ..
Will a receive anything from Oracle ? Unique Oracle ID etc as I have done in the past with Microsoft exams ?

As stated on the Oracle Certification Program: Oracle Database 10g Administrator, once you have completed the OCA you receive a certificate saying you become OCA, but this doesn't happen right after you have finished your exam, at the site where you made the exam you only receive a pass/fail paper. Certificate should be arriving at the address you declared in your registration form within in eight weeks after the examination date, if this doesn't happen then you should address your request to the ocp program (contact information is displayed at the certification site).
You should be aware that for the OCP, there is a requirement for a hands-on course, and you must submit the hands-on course to receive the OCP certificate.
