Linux Oracle RAC Issues with CRS

Using the Linux Oracle RAC install guide - I've finally installed my install on Linux for the Oracle RAC. Just one problem - now after 10 mins or so - one of my nodes loses communication which barks out a PRKH-1010 error after trying to run a status check on my nodes using the srvctl status nodeapps -n <servername> command.
any clues or ways to diagnose?

Hi!
The gsd relies on some files residing in /tmp/.oracle
Are they still there?
GSD is known to stop if they are absent.

  • Oracle OEM issue with RAC Database

We're have Grid Control 11g on Linux. The issue that I've is when trying to access the "Top Activity" screen for node 1 of a 2-node RAC cluster. The general "Performance" tab displays, but the graphs will not get past "Loading". Furthermore, when you click "Top Activity", the page displays but with no graph and the following error:
ORA-12504-TNS:listener was not given the SID in CONNECT_DATA
Access to the screens which aggregate all instances or to node 2 specifically seems to work properly. This is case whether the SCAN listener is running on either node.
We have a 2-node RAC 11gR2 cluster w/ ASM and 3 SCAN listener. This is HP-UX
Enterprise Manager 11g is being run from another host, this is RHEL5

    bcm@bcm-laptop:~$ oerr ora 12504
    12504, 00000, "TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA"
// *Cause:  The listener was not configured with a default service and
//  SERVICE_NAME was missing from the CONNECT_DATA received by the listener.
    // *Action: Possible solutions are:
    //  - Configure DEFAULT_SERVICE parameter in LISTENER.ORA with a valid service
//    name. Reload the listener parameter file using reload [<listener_name>].
//    This should be done by the LISTENER administrator.
//  - If using a service name, Check that the connect descriptor corresponding
//    to the service name in TNSNAMES.ORA has a SERVICE_NAME or SID component
    //    in the CONNECT_DATA.

Depending on how your service was created you may need to register it with CRS:
srvctl add service -d db_name -s service_nameCan you post your listener info? output from issuing lsnrctl status and also your tnsnames or connect string you are using to connect?
(be sure to change any sensitive data to something generic but make sure you change it in all places to keep it consistent)
Also if you use the direct IP address or hostname in your connect string instead of the SCAN does the slowness go away?

  • RAC Issue with high Transaction OLTP + GC's

In the Lab i am testing in-house application with Oracle 10g.
    Setup
    - 2 Database servers (RHEL OS 3, IBM H/W, 4GB RAM)
    - 2 in house Application servers (RHEL OS 3, IBM H/W, 4GB RAM)
    - IBM Disk Array with 2Gbps fiber Cable Speed
    - Cisco LAN Switch with 100mbps/sec Port
    Application Detail-
    -- Its a OLTP application.
-- Doing lots of insertion, update, delete, commit for each transaction.
-- With high application load, its doing 5000 DB tranactions/sec with database.
The following test scenario need to test
    1. Start one application server and conenct with DB instance1 and push high load..
    2. Start both application server and connect with DB Instance1b and push high load from both applications.
    3. Start Both application server and connect with both DB servers ( For Ex.
(A1-DB1 & A2-DB2) and check the application compatibility with RAC environment ( Note- Here need to push very less db transaction data to DB servers).
    4. Similar like 3 but with very high db transaction rate
    Now these are the results
    1. Full Success
    2. Full Success
    3. Full Success
    4. Fail
    Detail description of Case4 Failure.
When ever i am starting applications with high load, within few minutes application quesues are getting full and db instances are not able to handle load.
When i checked the Oracle ASH Report and then found following major events
    1. gc buffer busy
    2. gc current block busy
    3. gc current multi block request
    4. gc cr block 2-way
i checked the oracle documents and found three are major root cause for this issue.
    -- Interconnect
    -- Load issues
-- SQL Execution against a Large shared working set
But i am not sure, how i can come out from this issue.
If any one faced this issue with Oracle RAC. Please share your experience or give some suggestion to come out from this issue.
    Rgds

    Hi,
you can use fiber for interconnect, Once i have looked for this option but haven't implemented.......
in this case your global cache requests are too much. one thing more if is it possible then divide the load according to domains. like same queries on on node and other domain queries on second nodes...... e.g. reporting on node2 and oltp transations on node1.
    and kindly look into it...

  • Oracle RAC One with SAP?

    Hello,
are there any plans to release RAC One with SAP?
Will it be included in the general Oracle RAC 11.2 release for SAP?
Who can tell me the (list) price for Oracle RAC One for SAP systems?
The note 527843 doesn't help with any of these questions.
    Regards,
    Mark

    Hello,
I am especially interested in the licence policy of RAC One.
Will it be part of standard or extended licence ???
Generally RAC One is an Oracle Option that just limits the RAC with 2 nodes.
If SAP makes certification for "RAC" generally and not for "RAC One" this would be
    no technical reason.
If somebody authorized can answer my question this would be great.
    Best Regards

  • Oracle db issue - with ODI

    Hi ,
I used oracle as Relational DB for ODI, At first time when I am configuring it is fine , let when I restart my computer ..it is unable to connect .
The error I am getting is

From the error I believe its the issue with Oracle db port number, Here hyperion is SID,
now how to check the listener port number, if it is varying then how to make the portnumber static.
    how to reslove this issue.
    Thank You

Are you sure the oracle listener is up and running.
You could try the following from command line
    tnsping <net service name>

  • Linux NSS DB Issue with Personal User/Client Certificate Friendly Names.

I have an issue with the NSSDB lib and my browsers in which client certificates I use for an application (Nessus Vulnerability Scanner) show up in the list with the same friendly name/nickname, making it very difficult to distinguish which certificate goes with which server.
Each certificate is generated on a different server with a different hostname but the same username. Upon importing the certificate into my browser, or even the pk12util command, the first certificate will appear correctly. However, importing additional certificates will just reuse the nickname from the first certificate instead of the nickname I chose. I have tested many different scenarios, and it doesn't seem the problem is related at all to the content of the nickname, so I have no idea how to force it to work correctly. I've searched around and found some indications of "nickname conflicts" and things, but nothing that helps me resolve the issue. I'm not sure if it's a bug or if it's some weird condition I've encountered.

Maybe try to ask on the mozilla.dev.tech.crypto news group.

  • Oracle JInitiator issue with Firefox 3 and IE7 - not working!

    Hi,
I'm accessing the oracle apps server through VPN using a Windows Vista system running Firefox 3 and IE 7. I'm able to log on and access the self service pages correctly. But I'm unable to access the form based pages. If I use the JInitiator 1.3.1.21, both browsers crash (though Firefox says missing plugin and mentions this version only). On installing higher versions of the plugin (28, 30), IE 7 keeps giving the message "installing components...oajinit.exe" and there is no more progress.
Could anyone please let me know what could be the issue and how to resolve it.
    Thanks in advance!

    - WinXP + IE7 / Firefox 2.x
    - Mac OS X v10.3.9 + Safari 1.3 and higher

  • Oracle Per5formance Issue With Huge Data

    Hi Everyone,
I needed one help from the techies here.
The issue I am facing is, I have got a set of oracle queries that I needed to execute often.
Previously the things were fine as the number of records were less.
But now I have gone into deep trouble as the new dump I have got is having tremendous amount of data.
For example one of the table my query used has got 8000000 records.
Can anyone tell me about the ways that I can use to improve the perforance level.
Most of the tables i have already seen are using indexes.
    Thanks in Advance

    user12280955 wrote:
For example one of the table my query used has got 8000000 records. So? The number of rows does not determine performance.
    SQL> set timing on
    SQL> select count(*) from daily_xxxxx;
      COUNT(*)
    2332931003
Elapsed: 00:00:09.94Approx 1,125,793 I/O calls (majority logical and not physical) were needed and performed in 10 seconds.
    Compare this to the following:
    SQL> select count(*) from all_objects;
      COUNT(*)
         72873
Elapsed: 00:00:10.29A tiny percentage of rows in comparison with the 1st query above. 1,473,899 I/O calls make (majority also logical).
What are the common factors here? Elapsed execution time and the amount of I/O done. The execution time has nothing to do with the number of rows processed.
So if number of rows are effecting your database's performance, then your database design and physical implementation is not optimal - as it does not provide optimal I/O paths to the desired result sets that need to be determined by the database. In other words, the design is not scalable. Relational design is inherently scalable - when done correctly.
So I would think you need to review your design - both logical and physical.
