Linux support for SB Live 24 bit on my MSI K8N SLI Plati

I've one problem: SB Li've 24 bit PCI come with LINE-IN and MIC that are the same jack.
With my motherboard MSI K8N SLI Platinum I've an integrated SB Li've 24 bit that however has one jack for MIC and one different for LINE-IN.
This is GREAT, however under Linux my LINE-IN doesn't work, due to lack of informations to how to implement this feature.
I've asked to MSI to help ALSA developers and they answer to ask to Creative.
So I'm here to ask a very little effort to help ALSA developers to implement this feature for my motherboard.
This is the link to do it:

Thanx for any help!

Check below for the correct link

download the drivers that you need.   MSI also gives support for this chipset.

  • MSI K8N SLI Mobo (with 24 bit SB Live!) and XP64, no driv

There are no drivers to be found anywhere for the onboard 24 bit SB Li've! chip on the MSI K8N SLI platinum motherboard. It's quite confusing really, seeing how it's a board designed for 64 bit processing yet there are no drivers for the Li've! chip. I'm assuming the drivers are in Beta development, is there a tentati've release date, even if it's November, it's better than not knowing anything. I love my 64 bit system but it really stinks having no sound.

As I stated in the original post, I am looking for 64 bit drivers for the Sound Blaster 24 bit Li've! chip that is onboard the MSI K8N SLI Platinum Motherboard. The "preview" drivers, as noted in the release notes:
    (http://preview.creativelabs.com/Lists/Announcements/DispForm.aspx?ID=6&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fpreview%2Ec reativelabs%2Ecom%2Fdefault%2Easpx)
    2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
One of the following supported audio cards:
    Creative SoundBlaster Li've! (except Li've! 24-bit)
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy (except Audigy LS)
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (except Audigy 2 NX)
These do NOT support Li've! 24 bit. In fact, on the Discussion board at the preview website, a moderator wrote this:
    (http://preview.creativelabs.com/Lists/General%20Discussion/DispForm.aspx?ID=344&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fpreview%2 Ecreativelabs%2Ecom%2FLists%2FGeneral%2520Discussi on%2FAllItems%2Easpx)
"It is not a site for asking for the Li've 24-bit/Audigy LS/NX drivers (32-bit or 64-bit). If you want those drivers, post at the official Creative forum or contact technical/customer support. That will get noticed. No one reads this site except for the people involved in the 64-bit driver preview for hardware listed in the release notes."
So, according to that email is says this list is responsible for producing 64 Bit drivers for the SB Li've! 24 bit chip. I would like to know which group is responsible for the drivers and when these drivers are TBA. Like I said, rough estimates are fine, I just want to know SOMEONE is working on it.

  • Recommend me a PSU for MSI K8n SLi Mobo

I recently purchased a MSi K8n SLi Mobo with a X800XL GFX Card and was sold a Hiper 425 PSU, after getting everthing home a built it has come to my attention that to make the onboard sound work, that Pin 20 on the PSU must be -5. The PSU that was sold to me does not carry this pin 20 -5V.
Can somebody please recomend me a PSU that will have this -5V pin at Postion 20
    Thanks for any Help

But I see that you have an ATI video card? Does that mean that you have no plans to actually use the SLI component? This makes a big difference since one card requires much less power.
I was lucky enough t have won my GFX Card, but i do plan on eventually going SLi

  • So, is a -5V pin supply still required for MSI K8N SLI Platinum or not ???

I am looking to buy a new custom made computer. I want the MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboard for it. The problem is that the non-USA page claims that it requires the -5V pin supply. I have read many threads on this same topic, but havent found a definitve answer.
Is the -5V rail still needed or not ???
I read somewhere that USA models dont require it, as its not mentioned on the USA site. Well my one will most probably be from Taiwan.....
Is there a check, through which I can confirm whether the motherboard my local hardware store is selling, requires a -5V pin supply or not???
lastly, is that a specific model number, from which onwards, the requirement is no longer needed ????
    thanx in advance

I agree with SAB only because mine has been rock solid for quite some time.  If I could afford it, I would have purchased SAB's PC Power & Cooling 510 model.
The only other model that seems to have the -5v rail are the OCZ psu.  However, I have noticed a lot of users with tagan's and have yet to see someone complain about this psu.  Im running the 12v rail as a single rail at 30a...you can experiment with the dual rails and it will adjust to the need of your mobo up to 20a on each rail but then the other rail gets only 10a (at least I think thats how it works).
The tagan 480w u22 was built for the future:
    1.  has a 20/24 pin main power connector - shielded
    2.  a 4/8 pin cpu power connector - shielded
    3.  2 - 6pin vga connectors - shielded
    4.  4 - sata hdd connectors
    5.  Whisper quiet - you just dont hear it
    6.  12v rail at 30a - peak load at startup to 35a for 60 seconds
    7.  70% to 73% efficiency rating
Is it enough juice?  It seems to me that the manufacturers have realized that pretty soon we will have to purchase $500 psu's just to keep up.  So IMO, the manufacturers seem to be getting the point.  The new 90nm AMD chips take less power than the 130nm chips...and the new 7800gt video cards take up less power than the 6800gt video cards.  In the future, AMD will be coming out with a 65nm chip, which will need even less power.
So I think Im right at the sweet spot with the 12v@30a and its also flexible enough to switch to a dual rail system if I need that feature in the future.  Tagan does make a 530w and 580w psu too, but they are not as quiet and you only get 2 more amps on the 12v rail as you go up the line.  Just my 2 cents.

  • COM support for Photoshop CS4 64 bit?

Is COM support even part of the 64 bit version of Photoshop CS4?? I can't find any dlls or exes that are COM enabled in the 64 bit folder of PSCS4 and have tried installing support for CS4 x86, no luck. I've even tried the ScriptingSupport.8li file under Extensions.
No problems with Previous versions of CS on x86 machines only now with CS4 on the x64.

OMG!! I feel soooo stupid! I discovered the problem.
I recently installed a second monitor and had been working with it - but today it was turned off.
The color picker was opening on THE SECOND MONITOR!! So it appeared on the first monitor that the program had stopped responding!
    Well - live and learn!

  • 2009, Support for Soundblater Live! 24bit External for Vista and Alchemy

Hey i recently picked up a soundblaster li've! 24 bit external for my laptop running vista32, went to creative website and downloaded the newest 2009 beta drivers for it, and noticed all the features are missing that would usually be there for XP such as volume, EQ, Bass boost etc, and obviously there is no EAX support for vista...
So i tried using Alchemy .008 Uni'versal and although i could add games such as Warcraft 3 to the list the EAX still didn't work in-game.
Are there any 3rd party drivers or programs i could use to make full use of this card?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Cheers.

I bought a USB external Surround 5. last week which had a Creative Labs sticker on it saying "Vista Ready - go to www.creative.com to download drivers". Yet having done so I discover that most of the features on the box do not work.
I want it for 5. sound and soundfonts - but both these are missing. If these are not going to be supported (and soon!) please can Creative confirm this. Then I will take it back to the shop (PCWorld UK) and advise them that is DOES NOT DO what it says on the box. I will tell them that they should peel the stickers off - because it is clearly not true that it is Vista ready!Message Edited by markburleigh on 04-27-200704:38 PM

  • Usrp driver 1.3 do not support for Labview 2013 64 bit ??

    Hello, dear all
Is anyone install the latest USRP driver 1.3 for LV 2013 64 bit ?  I found there is no version for 64 bit LV 2013.

Currently the 1.3 driver supports only LabVIEW 2013 32 bit (even on 64 bit computers.)
The LabVIEW 2014 version will support 64 bit and will be available to download very soon.
Please check here within the next week or so:  http://search.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/tech/lang/en/pg/1/sn/ssnav:drv/q/usrp/

  • 2.1 speakers system support for SB Live! 5.1

Hi all, I have a SoundBlaster Li've ! 5. sound-card and a Yamaha 2. speakers system with only one cable to be plugged into the card. My problem is that I have no driver to offer support for 2. speakers system (I got only 2 speakers, 4 speakers, 5. and 7., but no 2.). When I plug my speakers I hear only the left channel into the left satelite, the right satelite being useless. Please check and advise if there are some drivers which can offer 2. system support and where I can get them from. I have a computer running on Win XP SP 3. If you need additional details regarding my sound card, let me know. Thank you in advance !?

    JBOne,
You may be able to download the CD for your card from here. Use the model number (...sb0...) embedded in the serial number on the white sticker on your card to identify your model.Message Edited by Katman on 06--20070:58 PM

  • Quicktime support for Windows Vista  64 bit OS

Are there plans to support the Windows Vista 64 bit operationg system?

Yes, I also got the instruction from the installer to "use the 64-bit installer", but there doesn't seem to be one. APPLE - ARE YOU LISTENING HERE? Strange that your installer gives seemingly impossible instruction.

  • How to SET or Configure BIOS to use XFX6200 TC video card for MSI K8N NEO4 Plat.

    Hello Friends,
Can any body help me to the following problem?
I am having XFX 6200 TC Geforce / nvidia Grafix card for my MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum Ultra board.
The BIOS states PCIE clock speed as 100 Mhz as default.  The setting can be changed upto 145Mhz.
My Video card can be configured upto 350 Mhz.  How to do this and which is the right way to use the display card with optimum setting?
Thanks for all those who reply to this.

    the coolbits link http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815
to manually set the clocks on the graphic card, after installing coolbits, just follow the instruction on that page:
    Quote
Unpack the achive (self extracting) and then in the setup directory simply click on the .reg file. To get to these options simply right-click on your desktop and go to 'NVIDIA Analog Display' (Win XP/2003). For Win 2000 and lower you may need to get to the Nvidia Control Panel the old way. Right click desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > GeForce xxxx
for overclocking just take a look at the overclocking sections of the forum. make sure to read the stickies before you do anything.

  • Support for Bioshock in 32-bit Windows Vi

I am trying to run Bioshock for the Windows Vista 32-bit PC and I cannot get the game to work with the Creative Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI sound card. I know they have ALchemy which I Have installed but it still does not solve the problem. Bioshock crashes when it installs the .ddl files from ALchemy for support with EAX and Direct3D sound to. And if I don't use ALchemy and then go into the gam's audio options, the game crashes to. WHAT CAN I DO?

ALchemy exists for DirectSound3D based games. Bioshock is an OpenAL game so it doesn't need (or use) ALchemy, so don't put the ALchemy files in the games folder. There are many other games that use DirectSound3D instead of OpenAL (here is a list).
When does the game crash, do you get any errors It could be related to something else. Did you disable your onboard audio (rather than having two audio devices at the same time) Have you updated your graphics drivers Did you get the latest patch for Bioshock You could try the updated OpenAL installer too.

    it quite clearly says,
