Linux Suse install

Hi,
I'm trying to install ODI on Suse Linux, but problem is that setup.sh is checking if linux is called RedHat 3, 4, 5...
Is it possible to install ODI on Suse? If so which one should I download from edelivery?

can you try the -ignoreSysPrereqs to the command line for setup,
i.e. ./setup.sh -ignoreSysPrereqs
This should get round that problem.

Try locate (using find command for example) the libjvm.so file (I assume that is located somewhere under $ORACLE_HOME (probably jdk or jre directory)). If you locate the path where this library resides, try to add that path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable.
Use copy&paste method (for error message) rather than link to image.
It is much quicker operation and it may help to other people because they be able to find this thread via search engine.

Problems Installing Designer 6.0 over Oracle 8i (Linux SUSE 8.0)

I have problems installing Designer 6.0 over Oracle 8i (Linux SUSE 8.0). When I try to create the repository the installation hang up. I try over Oracle 8i (WIndows 2000) and the problems remain.
Please any body can help?
Is it possible to install Designer 6i and generate forms 6.0 (I mean for using Developer 6.0 (NOT 6i))?

I had the same problem. Oracle gives as an answer that Designer 6.0 is not supported against 8.1.7. In the specified package a statement is issued which is a problem for 8.1.7. I changed that package and now it works fine.
Comment as below and replace with the delete statement, then it compiles fines.
I don't know if any problem can occur after that, but a Migration from a 1.3.2 repository to 6i works fine through this repository. Hope this helps.

Installation mySAP ERP 2005 on Linux SuSe 10

Hello,
I tried to install mySAP ERP 2005 on Linux Suse 10 with 8 GB RAM and enough harddisk space (6 x 250 GB) as a central system. But the Installations stops always in the "Import Abap" step with jobs:
running 3 , wating 22 , completed 13, failed 0 , total 38
No errors are written to the logfiles and there is no progress in the installation, so I have to stop it manually.
Can anyone help me?

Libraries on Windows to Linux SuSe

Hi everybody,
There are a thousand forms which have 4-5 attached libraries. These libraries are located in a library directory C:\LIBS.
I want to transfer these forms to Linux SuSe environment and libraries as well...
Except for the compilation and save of the forms and libs , how can I alter 'massively' - if it is possible - the location of the lib directory (let's say from C:\LIBS to /opt/libs).
I think of two ways:
1) transforming into xml , make the neccessary modification and return back to fmb
2) transforming into fmt , make the neccessary modification and return back to fmb (is this possible..?)
3)which else?
Which is the quickest way to alter the path of the forms 10.2. on Windows to Linux SuSe?

Hi Francois,
I cannot , at least in Windows, convert the .pll files to .plx . Error FRM-91507 : Cannot create the lib and another message PDE-IIN005 : command insert is unknown appear.
That's why i have installed the .pll into a specific library directory C:\LIBS.
Then , imagine that i'll make the executable of the libs..
The files(.fmb) in Linux will still have the 'wrong' path C:\LIBS in their properties , won't they..?
Unfortunately , anyway i cannot test it right now....

SUSE install Mysql problem

I am attempting to install ES 8.2 on a Suse box for the first time. I am almost through the configuration manager, to the point of Database Initialization. I deployed the ears and all that, then tried to start the Mysql that came with the download package. Upon discovering that the bundled version was in fact the windows Mysql package, I downloaded the proper rpms, installed, and attempted the init again. This time I got an Access denied for user adobe@locahost using password YES. Is there any way to obtain the password that this account is expecting to use? Or alternatively, is there a method of pushing the data from the windows package into the fresh rpm install?

It looks like you are attempting to use what is essentially a turnkey for Windows on Linux.
You are better off doing the following:
1) download and install the MySQL Community Edition (you get to choose the password during the install)
2) make sure MySQL starts by logging into it using MySQL Administrator
3) Create a new database
4) use the pre-configured JBoss tree that ships with LiveCycle and make appropriate changes for Linux
5) Install LiveCycle ES 8.2 (Update 1). Please note that LiveCycle Configuration Manager (LCM) has limited functionality in the case of JBoss (it does NOT configure it).

Sapinst fails in Linux SUSE

Hi,
I'm completely new to Linux. Yesterday I installed a Linux Suse 10 and now I wanted to install a Netweaver 7.0 with SR3.
I installed the Java JDK IBM 1.4.2. and seems ok because comand "java -version" works fine.
I have copied the master CD into a file in my Desktop.
With the terminal I go to the location where I have the sapinst file and when I run the comand "./sapinst" I'm getting the following error
iaextract.c:439: Error opening archivefile /root/Desktop/sapcd/BS_2005_SR3_SAP_Installation_Master/IM_LINUX_X86_64/./sapinst
Anyone has an idea of what could be the reason or where to look in search of clues?

There is also another thing that I don't understand. If I execute sapinst I get the error that I meantioned earlier in the thread.
However if I execute startinstGui.sh the SAPinst GUI windows appears and the terminal displays:

Unfortunately the sapinstGUI windows also delivers the message
Could not connect to host localhost on port 21212. java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
But again as I said earlier I'm completely new to Linux so most probably there is something obvious that I haven't done.

Installing Oracle 10G Express Edition on Linux after installing Libaio-0.3

I had got a error while installing 10G Express Edition on Redhat Fedora core 4 linux after installing libaio-0.3.104-2.i386.rpm
I had given the following command in Linux Command prompt to install the oracle database 10 G Express Edition (oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm)
# sudo rpm -ivh /tmp/oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm
The error I had got is as follows:

Now, I am having the following problems:
After making the changes as per my Reference mentioned in my different messages, I had done the troubleshooting steps going to Options and setting the same.
1.When I try to load the http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex page it gives an error popup:

2. After opening the Run the SQL Command Line by clicking on applications and When I say " Connect System and when prompted for password, I have entered the password and gives another error as follows:
ORA-01034 : Oracle not available
ORA-27101: Shared Memory realm does not exist
Linux Error:2:No such file or directory
3. When I try to manually start the Listener or Services, It gives one more error:
Root Not a Member of DBA Group
I need to What is happening or What is the Problem and How will I rectify them?

T61 with linux pre-installed in Ireland

I would very much like to buy a T61 but can only do so if linux is pre-installed, I could easily install it myself, but only by buying it with linux pre-installed could I dodge my employers commitment to dell: if I buy a windows computer it has to be a dell. So, is it possible to get a T61 in Ireland with linux pre-installed?

I've herd of Lenovos good support for Linux, but when I try to surf Lenovos homepage, there's no way to chose a Lenovo without Windows "Genuine" <**bleep**>.
Tried to use the homepage for Thinkpad and came to this page: http://www.pc.ibm.com/se/thinkpad/
there's no way I can chose a laptop without that genuine **bleep**.
Cant you guys give me a break and change this lousy support?

Installation - Linux Suse 9 OS Requirements

Hi,
I have inherited a production system, which is Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 on Linux Suse 9; the configuration includes Web Cache, Portal, OID etc.
There have been several performance and stability issues and the deeper I look I find that many configuration settings are either wrong or none existent.
I have also noticed that the recommended software requirements as listed above as documented in the Oracle Application Server Installation Guide were not made and these are as follows:
1. Linux Software requirements (Linux packages)
2. Kernel Parameters
3. Kernel Parameter settings for OracleAS Web Cache
4. Kernel Parameters settings for OracleAS MR
5. Oracle User Shell Limits
The question I have for you esteemed Oracle Professionals is will any retrospective changes have the desired stabilising effect or should I rebuild?
