SAN
RAC
ASMインスタンス
ASM Cluster File System
ADR
フラッシュバック
データガード
マテリアライズド・ビュー
パーティション
Maximum Availability Architecture
Enterprise Manager
AWR(自動ワークロードリポジトリ)
ADDM(自動データベース診断モニタ)

    Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

While the points brought up by the others are certainly valid, in my point of view, the best platform for Oracle, is the one which you are best capable of supporting. Where is your system administration expertise? Whatever your system administration staff is most comfortable with, should carry significant weight. If you go a direction that they are not comfortable with, at best, you're looking at retraining staff and/or hiring specific expertise. At worst, you'll run into a lot of stonewalling when trying to get support. DBAs, developers, and architects don't work in a vacuum, so, it's good to work with those who support the hardware.

  • Ocfs2 RAC on Red hat linux 6 - kernel -- 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64 -Oracle11gR2

    Hello,
We want to use ocfs2 as the shared file system for running Oracle RAC 11gR2 on Red hat linux 6.
The red hat linux kernel is 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64.
I checked the ocfs2 download site and there is no ocfs2 rpms for Red hat 6, infact there are no ocfs2 rpms for Linux 6.
What options do I have if ...go down to Linux 5.x or move to Oracle linux 6.
If my understanding is correct Oracle linux 6 has ocfs2 in the kernel itself and does not need to be installed separately.
What other options do I have for having a shared file system .... ?
    Please comment.
    Thanks,
    X.

    Hi,
Please refer to Note 1365511.1 - How to Configure LUNs for ASM Disks using WWID, DM-Multipathing, and ASMLIB on RHEL 5/OL 5 and RHEL 6/OL 6 . That note can help you to install and configure ASM properly.
    from the note:
" For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (beginning with 6.4) the kernel driver package 'kmod-oracleasm' is available directly from Red Hat, and can be installed from the "RHEL Server Supplementary (v. 6 64-bit x86_64)" channel on Red Hat Network (RHN).  Updates to this module will be provided by Red Hat.  Please check with your Red Hat advisor for questions concerning support of the kernel driver package.  The 'oracleasmlib' and 'oracleasm-support' packages are maintained by Oracle; they are required in order to use kmod-oracleasm.  "

  • Oracle11gR2 in linux server

    HI, all,
Thanks for your time and help first!
I am asked to install 11gR2 database on a linux server under my username, not root.
    1. at the end of the installation, there is a question "Enter the full pathname of the lcoal bin directory" , could anybody tell me where it is? there is no bin folder under my username, and a message even told me I installed it successfully.
    2. Do I have to install it under root?
    3. I put the oracle home bin directory, is it wrong(very possible)? if it is wrong, how to fix it?
    Thanks.

However, since the one indicated is probably in everyones PATH, I recommend leaving that directory as is and simply hitting return.

    2. Do I have to install it under root? Not the Oracle s/w. But you MUST run root.sh as root.

    3. I put the oracle home bin directory, is it wrong(very possible)? if it is wrong, how to fix it?Generally not a good idea for production. But if you are evaluating or playing around, it is OK.
A good thing to do for a professional or semi-professional administrator is to read the manual at http://tahiti.oracle.com - look for the Quick Installation Guide.

11gR2 is not certified to be installed on CentOS, so from that perspective alone, OEL is the only choice.

From the Oracle d/l site I have downloaded the same 11.1.0.6 db file 3 times and got 3 different cksum values.

Needless to say that, although it unzips, the installer fails in different locations each time (33%, 45%) Typical error below. Installer just hangs
Is anyone else having the same issue?
It seems to be tied to the oracle site as no other downloads I make are suffering this problem.
I'm thinking of taking the 3 downloads and somehow trying to patch one good one out of them by diff'ing the folders but this is tedious.

  • Need help with installing Oracle11gR2 on OpenSUSE 11.2

    Hi,
I could use some advice on installing Oracle11gR2 on OpenSUSE 11.2. I have a slightly older 32 bit PC which I was able to successfully install OpenSUSE 11.2 and DB2 9.7. (Yes, I work with more than one database vendor :-) ) When I tried to install Oracle, the installation program tells me I'm missing some libraries which I can not seem to find anywhere using any of the YAST tools:
    libaio-0.3.105 (have 3.104 installed)
    libaio-devel-0.3.105 (have 3.104 installed)
    elfutils-libelf-0.97 (have 0.142 installed)
    elfutils-libelf-devel-0.97 (have 0.142 installed)
    glibc-common-2.3.4 (can't find this)
    glibc-headers-2.3.4 (can't find this)
    libgcc-3.4.6 (have 4.4.1 installed)
    libstdc++-3.4.6 (have 3.3 and 4.4 installed)
    compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3 (can't find this)
Anyone have any ideas where I went wrong?
    Thanks.

    I read the UEFI wiki.
I think I understood where my problem is...
In order to create the "EFI System Partition" my whole data in the hard disk(which has windows in it) will be lost. I can't afford that because I only have rescue disks with me. I don't have an OS installation media since the OS installed on my thinkpad is OEM. If Lenovo were providing me the installation media for the OS, then I would simply go ahead and create GPT partitioned disks. Then first install Windows in it and then Arch. But now I am in a dilemma.....
I need suggestions on this please.....
You require an unmodified Windows 7 ISO. This is not hard to obtain, and using such a ISO is legal as long as you use a valid product key to activate Windows. Now there are 3 cases:
    1. Convert BIOS-MBR install of Windows 7 to UEFI-GPT, without data-loss. It is a slightly lengthy process https://gitorious.org/tianocore_uefi_du … OS_to_UEFI (actually simple once you understand it, I know because I wrote it). But you need to have a unmodified Windows 7 ISO setup to boot in a UEFI bootable USB to do it. You can reuse the existing SYSTEM_DRV partition after formatting it as FAT32 with gdisk type code EF00. Make sure to backup the current contents of that partition though.
    2. If you don't mind re-installing Windows, backup Windows activation data using http://directedge.us/content/abr-activa … nd-restore, format and partition your disk as GPT, re-install Windows and then Arch.
    3. Install Arch in current BIOS-MBR setup, without touching the existing windows install.
EDIT: The limiting factor in your case is Windows, but I do not think it is a good idea to discuss Windows specific info (especially if you want to try case 1) here (in Arch forum) as that has nothing to with Linux or Arch.

  • Oracle11gR2 with Oracle11i (upgradation)

    Hi
we are using oracle11.5.10.2 database 9.2.0.8 on AIX 5.3.8 and we are having multi node environment for
    1)Node 1:Concurrent and Database
    2)Node 2:Web server,Forms server
Now we are in process of upgrading database from 9.2.0.8 to oracle11g R2
    one of oracle11gr2 upgradation's pre-req is minmun AIX 5300-09-01 level ,
Now i upgraded DB node's OS AIX 5.3TL8 to AIXTL10
    my question here is
do i need to upgrade another node's OS(node 2) also or DB OS up gradation is enough ?
    Thanks
    With Regards
    A-Z

I can't speak for whether it is required or not, I don't use AIX. But regardless of whether you are using AIX, HP-UX, Linux, or Solaris - wouldn't you want to keep your OS layer the same / identical across all nodes? For example, what if the DB box failed and you had to quickly put the DB portion on the MT also; now you can't do that without also upgrading the O/S first, and it is not tested.
I keep my prod and test systems at the same OS level including exact patches etc, regardless of how many boxes are in use. I sometimes take the DEV system and upgrade the OS on whatever boxes it is running- I do this there FIRST as a trial/test; however I always keep prod and test the same. There are enough other variables to worry about.
BTW we also went from 9iR2 direct to 11gR2 and it worked well. Make sure to follow extremely carefully the MOS 11i/ 11gR2 interop note and apply all DB and apps patches in the note.

SergioVERY NICE! I keep reading about "oracle validated" installation, but always in some generic sense. This is the first I've seen it spelled out that it is a single yum download.
What version of oracle is this validated for? 10.x ? 11.x?

    Ricardinho,
try post full error message (or stack trace) because in this case we can only guess...
Also when you post name of Linux distribution then don't forget post the version.
Anyway according to partial error message I think there is missing libXp.so.6 library on your OS.
So execute "yum install libXp" to install required package. Od locate the package on installtion media and install it via "rpm -ivh" command.
Note: In FC5 and later libXp.so.6 is included in libXp package. In FC4 and older releases you need to install xorg-deprecated-libs package.
