Customers can still purchase the USB Lion Flash Drive installer from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.]

Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

What do you see in the Mac App Store > Purchases section? The dl could just be paused, in which case you can resume it and carry on.
If it doesn't list it there then search your Mac for the installer incase it finished in the background and didn't start the installer automatically.
Finally, if you don't see it anywhere and you're sure it hasn't finished and actually updated without you realising it, you can email Apple's iTunes support team and they can either put it back in your download queue to try again or regrant you the download so you can 'buy' it again without having to pay.

  • I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading and restarting for installation, I got a message stating that  the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.

  • Mountain Lion will not download to my iMac, "The product distribution file could not be verified.  It may be damaged or was not signed."

I have this problem also. I was able to download Mountain Lion to my daughter's Mac Mini without any trouble. However, I can't download this to my MacBook Pro. I have read other sites that suggest VirusBarrier is the problem and recommend turning it off in VirusBarrier>Preferences>Advanced. I have tried this and it still doesn't work, although some report that it has worked for them.

  • HT2404 Mountain Lion will not download through the apps store.  It shows up in Launchpad, but when the screensaver goes on and I enter my password and my desktop shows up, it has disappeared from launchpad.  I have set my energy saver controls appropriate

Mountain lion will not download thru the apps store.  It has been purchased and redeemed.  I have set my energy settings appropriately so computer will not turn off during download as Verizon offers a connection that is very slow.  I have set the display to go to sleep (which I have set so I have to sign in again).  When I sign in again, Mountain Lion OSX has disappeared from the launchpad.  I have tried this several times.  I do have Norton Internet Security on my Mac Air.  I turned off the idle time scan on the Norton and tried again.  Same results.  Anyone?

Ask anyone around here, and they will tell you quite differently. AV software will slow down your computer, can be incompatible with software you use, can cause kernel panics and other problems. It is unnecessay since OS X has it's own protection built-in. AV software can no more tell the difference between safe and unsafe sites on your browser than could an elephant.
But, hey, who am I to argue with your tech person? Please, don't let me sway your opinion. How about a visit to:

An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.

If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)

  • Mountain lion too long download

Mountain Lion has been downloading on my computer for nearly 5 hours. Is this typical?

Yes that's right it's also took me five hours to download mountain lion
It's probably because the Apple servers are experimenting a lot of traffic at the moment.
    Hope this helps

  • How long does mountain lion take to download?

On average how long does mountain lion take to download from the app store?

Always keep an eye on 'More like this', the column to the right of your initial post.    You will often find answers and direct leads to your questions there.
In fact it relates to your ISP and the download speeds you have.   I believe it is 4GB in size.

  • How long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take.

install 6.5 before proceeding further. I coud not understand.
Just what it says - install os 10.6.5 before proceeding further.  You can either do so through Software Update or use the Combo update from Apple's download site.
You should repair permissions and restart your computer prior to updating and upgrading.

  • Lion OS X download trouble

I downloaded lion OS X on my macbook pro from the mac store. And when i go to instal it i go though all of the agreements and it says that software could not be downloaded it may have been courpetted of tamped with during  downloading. What do i do?

Below is Apple's discussion of the technique I used for downloading Lion again. But, I didn't do all of what is found in the discussion. After re-downloading, I simply installed Lion on an external drive, prepared it for use, and cloned the result to my internal. You probably can't use this sort of re-download procedure since you did not successfully install Lion in the first place. See this link for the entire discussion related to the Lion recovery environement.
    Install OS X Lion
If you completed your installation of OS X Lion, your installer may have been removed after your successful first login to OS X Lion. Mac App Store's Purchases page should show Install Mac OS X Lion as being "Installed", and disallow its download, when viewed from a computer running OS X Lion.
"To redownload the installer on a computer running OS X Lion, press and hold the Option key while you click the Purchases tab. If the button to the right of the Install Mac OS X Lion item doesn't change to "Install" and allow you to download Lion, use Spotlight to search for "Install Mac OS X Lion" on your computer.
Launch the Install Mac OS X Lion installer you downloaded from Mac App Store. The installer should be in the /Applications folder.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Lion installation. Be sure you install Lion on the external storage device you've connected for this purpose, not your computer's boot drive.
When installation to your external device is complete, you can re-run Install Mac OS X Lion installer and upgrade the boot drive of your computer. A Recovery HD will likely not be created, but if you need to reinstall or repair your boot drive at a later date, you can connect the external drive you just prepared and hold cmd-r while restarting computer in order to boot from the external Recovery HD.
Please note that Recovery HD must be present on your computer's startup volume to use FileVault 2 (not an external Recovery HD)."

  • Lion OS X download.

my internet connection timed out during Lion OS X download.  How do I download it now, it comes up under "purchases" but the only button is "install" and I know that it didn't download correctly.

thanks so much "dxironman".  I'm new to this Apple world, wasn't sure what would happen if I hit the "install" button, but it's off and running again.  Let's hope it downloads this time.  Cheers

Does the computer meet the requirements?
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
You need to provide more information about what happened when you tried to download it. Please provide a full description since "all grayed out" doesn't tell me anything really helpful.

Mountain Lion will not download. App just says "download" on purchase button, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

My download took many many hours.  Not sure if that is because of our ISP or load on the network.  I also thought nothing was happening for my download.  Try this:
    Open App Store,
    click on Purchased
You'll see Mountain Lion being downloaded and it will show the progress and estimated time to complete.
Take deep breaths and be patient.
