Lion Address Book doesn't accommodate "yyyy-mm-dd" date format..., Lion Address Book doesn't accommodate "yyyy-mm-dd" date format...

Help! How do I get Lion Address Book to accommodate "yyyy-mm-dd" date format?

Nor does Lion appear to accurately insert "long" date format in Word 2011.
Although long date format appears correctly in Language & Text Preferences, when inserted in Word the year inserts only the last two digits of year, e.g., July 27, 11 -- should be July 27, 2011.

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book. Cannot turn these off. They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used. How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

• Import contacts from old address book on MacBkPro Snow Leopard into new MacBk Pro Lion

How do I import my contacts from old address book on MacBkPro Snow Leopard into new MacBk Pro Lion (on MacBkPro Retina). I can see the "AddressBook" file on the old HD (extracted from old machine--which died) and have a copy of that file on to desktop of new machine. [Copied from old HD: Users/home/Library/Application Support/Address Book]. There is an Address Book in the same location on the "MacIntosh HD" of the new machine, but some of the files in that (new) folder have different names. Risky to simply over-ride this. What should I do?

My mistake - my groups are there! They transferred perfectly. Still getting used to my wonderful new machine. Sorry to bother you!

• Missing information (addresses, etc.) in my Contacts after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I can't see detailed information (addresses, etc.) in my Contacts after upgrading to Mountain Lion. This happened when I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard, but fixed itself when upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion.
I can see the information when I do a Print Preview of an envelope, so the information is in the program somewhere, but can't be seen when viewing the Contact Card.

BTW, I can see all Contact Card information on my iTouch just fine.

I guess the track pad settings would look similar to my screen shot?

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

Restart with the Mac OS X 10.6 DVD in the drive or with the Lion USB drive connected, hold down the Option key just after the restart, tab to the installation disk, and press Enter. If the computer has a firmware password set, it needs to be provided for this to work.

• When I try to add an email address (by clicking on the address and slecting the 'Add to Address book' option the email addrss does not stay in my address book

When adding an email address to my address book often it will stay in the address book until I close Thunderbird then it disappears and it won't pop up as a valid address when I am composing a note.

This usually means that the address book data file is corrupt.
I'd suggest you export your misbehaving address book to an LDIF file, delete the original address book then re-import its data from the LDIF file.
Note that you won't be allowed to delete either ''Personal Address Book'' (PAB) nor ''Collected Addresses'' (CA) within Thunderbird. You'll have to close Thunderbird, open its profile and delete:
''abook.mab'' for PAB, or
''history.mab'' for CA.
When you next run Thunderbird, it'll create a new empty address book to replace the one you deleted. Import your address to a new temporary address book, then move the Contacts (drag-and-drop) into the preferred address book.

• Mass-change address format in address book

Hi Guys,
I've recently changed from pc to mac (yay) and have imported all my contacts into address book.
I have several hundred contacts that have mailing address in the US, and several hundred that have mailing addresses in the Netherlands and some in other parts of the world.
I'd like to change the address formats to the appropriate ones, but so far have only been figure out how to do that one at a time, or all together.
I can use smart groups to group the addresses I want to change together, but after that I'm stuck.
Is there a way to change the address format from selected cards? or will I have to do this one at a time?
Thanks for your help.

Here is an Applescript you can run that will do what you want:
property CountryCode : {missing value:"us", USA:"us", Netherlands:"nl", UK:"uk"}
tell application "Address Book"
repeat with aPerson in people
set theAddresses to addresses of aPerson
if theAddresses is not {} then
repeat with anAddress in theAddresses
set theCountry to country of anAddress
set the country code of anAddress to my getCC(theCountry)
end repeat
end if
end repeat
end tell
on getCC(aCountry)
set s to "on run {CountryCode}" & return
set s to s & "get " & aCountry & " of CountryCode" & return
set s to s & "end"
try
run script s with parameters {CountryCode}
on error
return text returned of (display dialog aCountry & " not found. Enter a country code:" default answer "us" buttons {"Ok"})
end try
end getCC
In the property statement, change the "us" for missing value to your default country code. Add any other countries you have to the CountryCode list. The first part, before the colon, is the Name of the country as found in your address book. The second part is the ISO country code (two characters). I found a list of ISO country codes here. That list was upper case, but the address book uses lower. If you have variants of the same country name, you can just add them all to the list.
Note: the name of the country cannot be more than one word--I didn't want to work out another way of getting codes. However, if the script runs across a country name that is not in the list, it will ask you to enter the correct value. You can change the "us" in the getCC handler to the country code of multi-name countries in your address book to make it the default answer.
Need help with Applescript? Just copy the code into a new Script Editor document and hit the Run (green right arrow) button. It will open the Address Book and start looking through your contacts, finding ones with addresses, and setting the country code to what you say it should be in the property CountryCode list.
If it fails with any other errors, check the Event Log History window which may give you a clue as to what was wrong with the address it failed on. You may be able to fix the address so it continues. Otherwise, post back with the error and I may be able to figure it out.

• Purchased tab in "App Store" app doesn't work when AppleID is not an email address.

After updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 6 (both 6.0&6.0.1), Purchased tab in "App Store" app doesn't work when AppleID is not an email address. This happened since 6.0 and I hope that it will be fixed in6.0.1 but it doesn't.
When I tap at Purchased tab in iPad App Store or Purchased bar in Updates tab in iPhone App Store, it just hang on "Loading...", but when I changed to other AppleID, it works. Apparently, my AppleID is not an email address but the other AppleID is an email address.
Not sure where to send my feedback to Apple about this issue.

Also, whenever trying to enter bank details into itunes, it tells me they are wrong, is it because my billing address is wrong?! Please help!!

Because if you live in the UK and trying to access the UK Store, then you need to use a card that has a billing address in the UK.
