Lion and Finder.

Hi,
Since installing Lion OS, I’m having a number of problems with Finder. The problems I’m seeing are:-
The Finder menu bar does not appear on my home screen. Clicking on the Finder icon within the Dock causes the menu bar to momentarily appear, but then it disappears. The only way I can shut down or restart my iMac, is to open up Safari and then select the Apple icon.
There are 2 extra user accounts on the iMac and Finder is working OK for these 2 accounts. I’ve tried setting the various options for Finder with my admin account (i.e. All Desktops, This Desktop, None) but to no avail.
I’m unable to save any new file within iWorks. Trying this results in a Problem Report being raised.
Any help or suggestions with resolving the above would be very much appreciated.

I can only offer sympathy and say that you are experiencing something it seems many others who have upgraded to Lion now get. I can open Finder but it then simply locks up about 8 times out of 10. "Force quit" offers the opportunity to relaunch Finder but nothing happens, except that all other apps on my iMac also lock up, and will not respond from the Dock. That includes Launch Pad, so I am left needing to shut down. Finder won't close most of the time (menu bar remains at top of screen) and manual switch off is need.
I eventually managed to install the well-regarded third party Path Finder app, which advertises a Lion compatible version. While this will read folders etc, and confirms that my iMac can no longer see my USB hard drive, it too locks roughly 80% of the time. I have it set as the default file manager, but Finder still cuts in.
Seems to me the problem may therefore not be Finder itself, but the process by which files and folders are accessed under Lion which is incompetent. Whichever, there seems no sign of a response from Apple yet.

''Fix:'' Uninstall the toolbar. Disable NoScript. Install the toolbar. Add your RS account to it and make sure it works, then Enable NoScript again.

I think you are looking for this:
From the Finder, select View > Show Status Bar and like magic, your info is revealed like how it was with snow leopard at the bottom of the finder window.
If you have the finder window at the bottom of your screen then it might be below the screen, just move the window up. That happened for me when I revealed it.

OS Mountain Lion and Finder Error -600

In the past week my system seems to have become slow. I get many "beach balls" especially when using MS Outlook 2011 and I have not installed any new software in over 90 days, except Software Updates via the App Store.
This new issue I believe is Finder related. If I try to open my "Documents" folder from the Dock, I get the error "The application "Finder" can't be opened. -600". This also prevents me from opening DropBox from my toolbar. However, if I click on the actual folders in my Home folder, they open just fine.
I have tried the usual: fixed permissions, restarted, used Onyx without help. Next I downloaded the 10.8.2 Combo Updater and ran it. This seemed to fix everything. However, 2 days later, the same issues are back.
I see from old forum posts that this is a "process issue" usually related to expired software, but this error is for the Finder.
Thoughts? Ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

First, select sender(s) as VIPs. Then the VIP category will appear.
To select a sender as a VIP, open an email from that sender, then hover over their name and a star icon will appear to the left. Click the star, and that sender will be set as a VIP (and the category will appear in the pane on the left).

You might find it helpful to "try before you buy" - there is a 30 day free trial offer for Office for Mac 2011, accessible from M's .com website.
You may be able to use this period to open and resave your old documents in a format that enables you to switch instead to using Apple's iWorks apps moving forward.
I initially intended to do something similar, but ended up buying Office as it provided an easier way (for me, at least) to continue working with years worth of old emails, letters, spreadsheets and other documents (from my PC days) without risking damage to their integrity, formatting, etc.

It looks like you haven't got them on iCloud. On your Mac, open Pages and drag the Word documents to the iCloud window

I recently downloaded the latest version of Mountain Lion and imovie and now I can't find my photos. When I click on the camera it tells me that I need to open iphoto before I can see any of my pictures but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

In Lion and Mountain Lion, an alternative way to open your user Library folder (to access the Preferences folder), is to click and hold down Go in the Finder menu bar and then press and hold down the Option key on the keyboard. The Library folder will appear in the drop-down menu. Slide the pointer down until Library is highlighted. As you release the mouse button, the Library folder will open.

You must have a minimum of OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed on your Mac to have the Mac App Store. The Quick Links are on the Featured pane.
