I have Windows XP Pro as my Bootcamp option under Snow Leopard which works very well indeed.
I would like to upgrade to Lion but am concerned re its lack of support for Bootcamp Windows XP
Can I upgrade to Lion and boot into my old Windows XP BootCamp partition as I do at present OR
must I buy Windows v7 and install under the new Bootcamp system.
Also what happens to my Snow Leopard Time Machines backups - can I see them under Lion?
Many thanks

I want to install Windows 7 on my 2010 MacBook Air running Lion - Bootcamp Assistand 4.0.1 from a USB drive. I've done this in the past when I was running Snow Leopard and the process was rather easy but now Lion updated the Bootcamp Assistant so i'm no longer able to create a MBR partition without a Super Drive installed. Does anybody managed to do that? Thank you.
The old process working on Snow Leopard:

Headset (inc mic) that works both in OS X Lion and bootcamp Windows 7
Hi,
Is there a headset (inc mic) that works both in OS X Lion and bootcamp Windows 7?
I have a MBP.
//FredrikActually most should work. They're supposed to be Plug-n-Play hardware.
I have an el-cheapo set of Logitech's I bought for the kid a while ago and it works in both. I think Windows 7 had to update a USB driver for it to work but it did it automatically. We have the mic/audio pins hooked to a USB audio dongle. Have no idea what model or brand it is.
The safest way would be to make sure it has a USB connector. I know the USB adapters are pretty cheap, $2 or $3 US if you search around. -
Lost bootcamp windows disk partition after mountain lion installation
Greetings all!
So I've had Bootcamp (windows 7 and snow leopard, 125gb of hard drive storage on each) on this MacBook Pro (late 2010) for over 2 years and I decided to upgrade to mountain lion.
As we all know that we can partition the disk under windows into smaller volumes, often labeled as C:, D:, E:, etc. my friend divided the hard drive storage for Windows into C: and G: when I first had windows 7 on my MacBook Pro 2 years ago.
The problem emerged after I installed mountain lion couple days ago. I'm still able to choose the system I want it to run after i press and hold "option" key and it will log on windows without any problem. My windows desktop looks the same as what it was before installing. HOWEVER, my partition G: totally disappeared! Partition C: remains the same. I'm pretty sure that G: is still somewhere in the hard drive because the system tells me that out of 125GB of storage for windows, 50GB is used, which is the size of C:, and available is only 10GB! So the difference of about 60GB must have been taken by the lost partition G:. I tried searching specific files that I have in G: under windows but it returned me no results. So I'm thinking it might be virtual somewhere. The files in G: are very important to me, so I'm looking for help/suggestions here to restore that partition by all means.
Thank you very much for taking the time reading my post and I'm really looking forward to your reply!Ok, I just found a way out this nightmare. The problem is that for a unknown reason, the password has to be entered as if it had been originally entered on a US keyboard layout (QWERTY)... So I had to find which keys I would have stroke if I had entered my password on a US keyboard thinking it was a FR one (AZERTY).

Is windows 8 already supported in OSX lion bootcamp?
is windows 8 already supported in OSX lion bootcamp?
No. But that only means it is a little harder and a few issues to work around. No one knows when but it could happen when 8 is posted to buy 10/25/2012, or after. And it may be that they somehow figure whether to provide for Lion or only ML.
Odd concept as to what Macs support Windows 8 but are not supported by 10.8. -
Cannot download email attachments windows 7 lion bootcamp MacBook Pro.
I cannot download or upload email attachments with windows 7 on lion bootcamp. Attached files such as xxx.doc, yyyy.jpg, or zzz.txt erroneously try to download as *icloud* and of course fail. By * I mean alphanumeric string. icloud mail tries to download perfectly good files as gibberish. On my mac lion side the mail function works fine. On the bootcamp side all non-icloud mail functions and browser functions work fine. I can easily send, forward, reply to and receive icloud mail. The only thing wrong is that I cannot sucessfully unload or download icloud email attachments.
You will have better exposure for your query in the Boot Camp forum:

I downloaded and installed Lion, now there doesn't appear to be a bootcamp/windows option. I thought it would install on the Mac partition, and the program didn't ask anything...just went and did the installation. Is the Windows side gone, or is it just hiding?
* In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
* Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
* Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

Hi,
I'm very confused.
I've had my macbook pro for 2 years now, with bootcamp Windows installed for almost that long without a problem.
As of today my macbook keeps locking up everytime I click on an application or click my mouse on something. It freezes with any action and stays busy for about a minute before doing all my commands.
The problem is, my Windows 7 works perfectly fine! Which means, unlike the other people posting here about their freezing macs, it's NOT a hardware issue!
I installed Lion about 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure what's going on. I don't really know what to do. I'll do some cleanups and everything, and post a little later.Do you have FileVault enabled or a Mac with a "Fusion" drive?
It appears to be trying to boot into Safe Mode, but fails. I've seen Safe mode fail for the above reasons.
Can you boot into Recovery? OS X: About OS X Recovery
if so, try repairing the disk. http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/08/repair-boot-disk-mac-os-x-disk-utilit/ -
ISight on Bootcamp Windows 7 no longer working
After upgrading to Lion OS X, my iSight no longer works on Bootcamp Windows 7. It formerly worked under Snow Leopard's Bootcamp Win 7.
i would believe it might be the limiting of the number of programs during startup.
do a msconfig and configure it to startup only windows item only. See if this makes any diference

Bootcamp-Windows 7 64-bit, Drivers problem
Hi everyone,
I have an iMac 27" i5 and I m using windows 7 64-bit via bootcamp, and I m having an issue with 3 drivers:
1) Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology Driver--------error code 10
2)Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3B36------------error code 10
3)Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3B3B it says the driver needs to be reinstalled.
4)There are problems with some PnP devices. Windows will take additional steps to further troubleshoot these devices.
5)Driver updates aren't automatically installed when detected by Windows Update.
I have purchased : RadarSync PCupdater to update or reinstall these drivers, I also tried reinstalling them with the Macintosh cd, but no luck.
If anyone has similar problem and knows what should I do please inform me.
Thanks in advance.Hello,
I have iMac for one year, windows is genuine , windows 7 home premium,
I have to mention I had a serious virus, and after cleaning my pc i delete the partition and run it again( I ve done this 3 times) .
I dont know about Lion Bootcamp 4.01 , I just use the instructions to create the partition and then I run Windows 7 Home premium and last I do is to run the drivers from the default cd I got with my iMac.
Thank you for your reply. -
Until today I was able to ignore the compatability issues warning (I know bad idea to ignore warnings) and move between IOS Lion and Windows 8.1 Pro partitions on my 20" iMac (Late 2006) with Intel processor. After restarting Windows and spending 1/2 hour waiting for it to update (after installing Office 365) Window works fine, but when I activiate BootCamp (from Windows) nothing happens. It opens and gives me the warning with the option to run the program anyway (like always) but it the program never starts. It stays in Windows. How do I get back to IOS 7 Lion so I can upgrade BootCamp 4 to BootCamp 5 which I just saw today as the solution...?
Power off your computer. Power up your computer, during power up press and hold the option key. When the boot manager appears select OSx.

Black screen/turns off random bootcamp windows 7
I have a imac 27" mid 2010 and i am using windows 7 x64 ultimate on bootcamp (3.3 and later 4.0) from snow leopard to lion, i have
recently upgraded my mac with mountain lion.
But after i did upgrade to mountain lion a day later my screen in bootcamp goes black/turns off. I can sometimes hear the sounds when it happens.
The black screen/turn off, is also randomly so its not happening when i do something or opening something. So after a few black-outs i started to get fustrated and i surfed the web for solutions (Option + Alt + P + R), disconnect power cord wait 10 seconds and reconnect, install/uninstall new drivers, reinstalling windows. reinstalling mountain lion and windows but the problem is stil there.
But when using mountain lion i dont have any problems everything works fine.
I think that mountain lion has changed something to the firmware or bios of the system, or changed something to bootcamp?
I really dont know, the only thing i know is i cant use windows as i normally did, and my boss isnt happy when i dont finish my work.
I really need some answers and solutions.
ThanksSame problem occuring for me, although Windows 7 boots fine in safe mode but when booting in regular mode after the lauch screen it goes black and turns off. Funny thing is that mountain lion didn't seem to be the problem for me instead I believe windows updated it's software for me and then it started happening. Im going to try and reformat partition reinstall windows 7.
oh BTW I'm on Macbook Pro x Retina Display.
