Lion compatibility with iMac ?

I have the iMac 4.1- intel core duo 2Ghz , 2 GbRam; can I run Lion ? troublefree ? only Lion will work with iCloud, MobileMe will be gone within months; so unless my'07 iMac will run Lion , I will be forced to buy a current iMac if I want to provide linkage to my "new" ('10) MacBook. Is this a case of progress leaving those behind who funded the progress ?

Sorry, Lion will not run on an Intel core duo system. You need an Intel core 2 duo or later system.  Lion requirements are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space

  • Is OS X Lion compatible with iMac?

I just installed OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro. Can I also install this softeware update on iMac (latest version is 10.6.8)?

Lion is compatible as long as you meet the cpu and memory requirements...core 2 duo, i3, i5, i7, Xenon and at least 2 GB memory, but works better with 4 GB, and 7 GB free HD space.

  • Lion compatibility with CanoScan 9900 F?

According to Canon my CanoScan 9900 F is NOT compatible with Lion. I've never had much success with Canon's software/drivers. I've always used the scanner "tool" (sorry, not savvy enough to know exactly what to call it; tool, software, driver?) that came with photo shop elements to operate my scanner.
The version of PS elements i own was for a Power PC and not compatible with my new iMac running Lion. My question is, will my scanner work with updated Photo Shop software? If not, are there any other options available to me?
Image capture doesn't  recognize my scanner, although somewhere in my journey the computer actually did see and identify the scanner by it's correct model number, under a fire wire heading I can no longer find a route to.
All help is appreciated, thanks, Steve.

The workaround described by "raback" doesn't work for Mountain Lion (10.8.2). What's more: after installing the CanoScan 8400F driver VueScan freezes on startup (force quit). Only after reinstalling the (OS X 10.6) CanoScan 9500F driver again, VueScan works as before: fine.
If your OS is 10.8 (or higher) DO NOT use the "raback" workaround! Stick with VueScan.

  • Presonus compatibility with iMac

I have an iMac G5 (bought in january 2005) 1,8 GHZ and 1 Giga Ram which is working perfectly well.I just bought the presonus Firebox audio-Midi card which is connected via a firewire port. I have downloaded OS X 10.3.9. So Apparently I have the minimum required for compatibility. Cubase Le is bundled with presonus.
When I try to record or playback some takes I have craks and drop out and the mouse after few minutes is going absolutely crazy and I cannot control it at all. When the firewire cable is disconnected everything is going back to normal.
The presonus technician think that it might be a problem with the firewire port. has anybody experienced this problem? Any tips to fix it.
    Thank you for your help

  • Mountain Lion & compatibility with your s'ware

    and:
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/p/1
Could be that we might have to replace a frightening amount of software!!

I had not upgraded before I made the original coment. Took perhaps too much notice of the problems others had experienced.
So, being aware of the lack of security updates I updated, with the help of the Call Desk as, as I really did not have the latest version of 10.6.8 I was given advice of how to get the real one.
Worked a treat, no compatibility probs with the s'ware I have. Lucky may be. Mountain Lion fast, easily configured and controlable. Me - can't fault it.
Best find out for yourself aye?

  • Mac OS X Lion compatibility with Iomega external hard drives

iMac & MacBook Pro does not recognize external iomega hard drive anymore following upgrade to OS X Lion. Is there a software fix.

I am using Time Machine to back-up to the hard drive. At one point I started receiving error messages that the hard drive was drawing power from the iMac and it was ejected.  The hard drive has its own power supply though, which is working fine. I am assuming that there is a software problem as these difficulties only started once I had upgraded to Lion.

  • Upgrade Mac OS on my iBook and compatibility with iMac

    Hello,
I had an iBook bought around 2002 in the US and it's a G3. I've moved to Thailand and haven't used it a lot due to limited applicability in Thailand. But now, Mac is more available so I'm now considering bought the new iMac. I wonder if I can upgrade the OS X on my iBook to the latest one so that I can have my old iBook sync-ing with the new iMac. And, to use the new features such as time machine, etc... Does anyone know or have done this before? Please help advise.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
The iBook G3 (Dual USB) can run Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), but cannot run the newest Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). Time Machine is a feature of Leopard, so is not available for the iBook.
I'm not sure how well syncing works between the two OSes, since I don't sync my computers. You can access one from the other, however. I access my eMac (in OS 9.2.2) from my MacBook (in OS 10.4.10), both saving files to the eMac and retrieving files from it.

  • Lion compatibility with Micro Soft Office for MAC ?

I loaded Lion but now can't access word, excel etc. Can anyone provide advice I have ten years worth of data I need to look at on a regular basis on office for mac programs.
    Thanks

Office 2008 and 2011 run fine on Lion - but any earlier versions won't.
Apple's iWork will open most MSOffice files and will export to MSOffice (but not always reliably).
With Office 2008, the catch is that even though it will run in Lion, you can't install it in Lion because the installer itself won't run in Lion.
So if you want to get hold of Office 2008, you should do so and install it BEFORE you install Lion. And keep a clone of Snow Leopard somewhere, for that day when you may need to install Office 2008 again....

if i buy office 2011 will it work on mountain lion when it comes out

    Hi Guido H
I haven't upgrade my 2 machines to Mountain Lion yet for the following reason.
    1. The Mac Mini I have is used by my children, so I would not have the opportunity to test Mountain Lion proberly on et anyway.
    2. I Have Office 2011 on may Macbook Air, and I am not going to upgrade it to Mountain Lion until I know that it runs properly in Mountain Lion.
As my home and studient version does not come with Outlook my question to you is. How does Word, Excel and Outlook run under Montain Lion? Any problems I should be aware off?
    Thanks in advance

  • Is lion compatable with parallels desktop ?

are there any issues with running parallels desktop on lion ?

I am still using version 5, but I had to download a so-called "launcher", as it was advised in some forums (like with many others, Parallels 5 didn't work in the beginning for me under Lion). I believe that's just a bug from the Parallels team, probably there will be an official patch as well within the next few days.
What Lion-specific features offers Parallels 6? Is there full screen support and auto-save like for other Lion apps? Version 5 is fine for me, but would be cool to have it "lionized".
