  • Where can I get the necessary Lion Compatible software for an Epson Perfection v500?

I bought an Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner a couple of months ago but never got around to opening the box until today. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks ago I upgraded my Mac OS to Lion and the installation discs that come with the scanner are not compatible with Lion. I did go to the Epson website and downloaded the Lion compatible drivers for the scanner but when I try to perform a scan, it looks like Mac's "Image Capture" is being used as the interface. The install CD (that as noted above won't work in Lion) contains all kinds of software including Epson's "Epson Scan with Easy Photo Fix" and other possibly useful applications but the Epson website provides no information as to how I'm supposed to get those applications. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, revybawb. The page that I found on the Epson site listing the driver you mention is here:

Here's the information about the epson13659.dmg driver from that page:
Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v3.74A
    Intel-based Macs with OS X (v10.4.4 - v10.6.x), Mac OS X (v10.3.9 - v10.5.x)
    epson13659.dmg - 17.4MB - posted on 02/03/10
This is a pretty old driver -- February, 2010. It says that it supports only up to Mac v10.5. Are you sure this driver works with Lion?
Has anyone else had luck getting the Epson Perfection V600 to work with Lion?

  • FULLY-compatible replacement for internal Sony DW-U10A?

The Superdrive in my single-processor 1.8 GHz PowerMac G5 has lost the ability to read DVDs. I've tried using different OS versions, etc. and it's clearly the drive, not the software.
I'm only interested in replacements that are fully compatible with Mac OS X and are capable of booting from a DVD (which is in fact my main motive for wanting to replace the drive). Ideally this would be another Sony DW-U10A, or a more recent Sony drive with the same form factor that Apple has also supported.
Has anyone personally replaced one of these drives, what did you get as a replacement and where did you get it, and was it a reasonably easy do-it-yourself task?
No theories, please. And no drives that are bundled with non-Apple software that will let you burn movies but won't boot from a DVD in the drive...

Sony drives are now sold under the Optiarc brand name ( co-brand with NEC ), Apple currently ships as an OEM drive the Optiarc 7170A.
Additionally Pioneer drives such as the DVR-111D ( retail box DVR-710 ), DVR-112D ( retail box DVR-1810 ) are fully supported.

  • Is 17" PPC LCD display a compatible replacement for 17" Intel?

iMac G5 17" 1.83GHz Intel Core2Duo has broken LCD screen.
I wish to replace using screen from iMac G5 17" 1.8GHz PPC.
    Will it work?

This much I do know, the G5 was much easier to take apart than the Intel.  Even if the screens are compatible, you'll have to be very exact how you place it.   http://www.ifixit.com/ and http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ are some of the best take apart websites I've seen.  They might have the answer you are looking for.

  • Lion compatible Quicken for Mac

    Hello,
I have nearly 13 years of Quicken for Mac financial data running on my Snow Leopard MacBookPro that I want to preserve. I have not yet upgraded to Lion, but plan to do so very soon. I have an old iMac which is stuck running Tiger which I can use as a Quicken 2007 machine if need be. My question is: Do I need to upgrate my laptop to Lion before installing and using the new Quicken for Mac? Does it matter?
    Thanks,
    jerseypolly

I'm new to Macs and want to transfer my PC Quicken data to my new Mac running Lion.  Does this $15 verion of Quicken run as it claims on Lion - I assume that it is only $15 to get it out there?
I downloaded Essentials a month ago and dumped it.  It does not have manual data entry near as easy as the PC version.  How does this Mac verion work?  Anything like the data entry for the PC?
Any info about data conversion?  I do have it converted from PC to Essentials, which was a hastle to get the conversion file.
    Thanks.

  • Looking for Lion compatible All-in-One printer

Looking for MacBook Pro Lion compatible All-in-One color printer for my Mom who is 77 and on a limited income when it comes to purchasing ink. Preferred options include wi-fi, auto duplex, memory card slots, easy to operate. I was leaning toward a Kodak printer but majority of reviews indicate when any one of the ink cartridges is empty no more print jobs will process until the empty cartridge is replaced. In addition, folks indicate even though ink is less expensive, replacemnet is more frequent indicating that perhaps the cartridge capacity is smaller in size. Both are deal breakers. Canon PIXMA MX892 Wireless and the HP Envy series both appear impressive but I am confused regarding compatibility with Lion. Appreciate experienced recommendations, Thanks

    ChrisPbass,
I would suggest contacting HP Home & Home Office. They will be able to narrow down the field to what would be best for your particular use. There number is below.

  • Would a Top Case keyboard replacement for Macbook Unibody A1342 (US version), be compatible w/my Macbook if originally it had a Japanese version?

I bought a Macbook Unibody back in 2010, and until now the system is still working perfectly fine, probably because I keep on updating my software version, currently I am on Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)...I don't have issues with it.
I bought this Macbook in Japan, the keyboard version is on Japanese (with US alphabets) becaue I was studying Kanji back then, and apparently I am now living here in the Philippines and some of my keyboard keys are lost and they were taken off by my naughty niece (LOL, couldn't blame her though... she's just 2 years old)... now I am looking for a replacement. I couldn't find Japanese version of Top Case replacements here in Manila... now I kinda realized I might as well use a US version moving forward.
Now my question is re: Top Case keyboard replacement for Macbook Unibody A1342 (US version), would it be compatible w/my Macbook if originally it had a Japanese version?
Thanks in advance for all the help & informations. I would really appreciate it before I buy a replacement.
Have a good one guys! ^_^)Y

but it has been dropped a bit.
Translation - It has been dropped multiple times.
All the problems are likely related. Better get it to an Apple service rep and be aware that any warranty does not cover abuse of the product.

  • What is a recommended decompression software for a non-Lion compatible MacBook Pro 1,1 2 GHz Intel Core Duo running OS X Version 10.6.8?

What is a recommended decompression software for a non-Lion compatible MacBook Pro 1,1 2 GHz Intel Core Duo running OS X Version 10.6.8?

My thanks to you and all other respondents.  In backing up "theVault" App I thought that my ancient version of Stuffit was inadequate to unzip the backup file.  I attempted to download the latest Zipit version which only works with Lion.  After upgrading to Stuffit 9 I realized that theVault backup file was encrypted so as to not open on the backup Mac.  One must restore to the iPhone where is does open.
My apologies for the imprecise post.  I am finding limitations with not being able to install Lion on my early MacBook Pro.  I can recommend theVault to those looking for a password App with secure backup.

  • Is OSX lion compatible with microsoft office for mac 2008

Can anybody out there please give me a definitive answer to this question: Is OSX Lion compatible with Microsoft Office for Mac 2008? The technical support people of both Apple and Microsoft could not provide me wth a useful answer to a question that must interest hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions. I don't want to download the new OS and then encounter nasty problems.

Yes. The only problem you could face, is if you want to reinstall MS Office 2008 on Lion - this is not possible, because the installer runs on Rosetta, which is no longer supported in Lion. But if you already have Office installed, there should be absolutely no problems.

  • Where can I find a list of compatible videocameras for OSX Mountain Lion?

I need a list of compatible videocameras I can use with my Mac OSX Mountain Lion.  Can someone help me?  I have always used a Canon ZR 950, but I was told it would not work with this new iMac.  Is there an adaptor that would work with it?  I bought a Thunderbolt, but it would not connect it.

You may have a hard time finding a list of Mountain Lion compatible video cameras as it can depend on which video editing software you're using.
if you want to use iMovie for editing read here > Apple - iLife '11 Help - iMovie '11 Supported Cameras

  • Will any Lion compatible application open AppleWorks paint files?

Is there any available application open AppleWorks paint files?
Better yet, any Lion compatible application that will do so.

I've been saving my completed AppleWorks Draw documents for a long time by copying them into Preview and saving from there, but, of course, you lose the ability to edit them then.
A bit off-topic, but I've found that you can't copy/paste an AppleWorks Paint document directly into Preview in Snow Leopard (as you could in previous versions of the OS). You need to paste it into an AppleWorks Draw document first, and then you can copy it from there, go to Preview, and use Command +n to make a new Preview document from the clipboard which then can be saved in the image format you prefer.
Until something that truly replaces AppleWorks comes along, I'm stuck in Snow Leopard, I'm afraid.
I'm just not willing to "make do" with several different applications that don't do as much as AppleWorks does as easily as AppleWorks does it.
    Progress … isn't always.

  • Is Apple about to introduce a replacement for iWeb?? and where can I download iWeb to replace the one I lost??

Having spent a little time searching for a replacement download for iWeb (details of why below)  it seems that I cannot find it anywhere in Apple Land.  From my limited experience here (iphone,  macbook pro, airport extreme and airport express)  it looks like Apple gradually withdraws stuff prior to introducing something really exciting  to replace it.
    So
Question:   Is there a new super replacement for iWeb about to be introduced?
I cannot believe that Apple would take away something as great as iWeb (having read reviews and used it myself as a complete web novice)  without giving us something better.
I foolishly followed some genius advice and did a wipe/reload of Lion, prior to updating to Mountain Lion (my fault, I thought my lovely Macbook Pro was running a little slow - probably wasnt - just me being impatient.) Anyway, long story short,  I lost iphoto (got it back by re-purchasing but would like a refund - another string running with this),   iWeb - can't find it anywhere - asked questions here in Apple Land and am getting some conflicting answers.
I am sat in London without my iweb for a some days and would really like to get on with a bit of web stuff.
Question:  is there anywhere in Apple Land where I can download iWeb
Question:  can you confirm that the iweb programme will be on one of the disks that came with the machine?   (they are 100 miles away so I will have to wait, unless there is an easier way)
    Sorry,  rambling a bit.
Hope you can help out there
    Thanks
    Steve

The iWeb application was specifically created to be used with .Mac and then MobileMe and Apple withdrew support for iWeb several months ago, when it was announced that MobileMe would be no longer and would be replaced by iCloud.  MobileMe ceased at the end of June this year and has been replaced by iCloud, that does not offer web hosting, so no need for iWeb.
Apple stopped selling iWeb in its stores several months ago and has withdrawn support for iWeb, so no, you won't find either iWeb or iDVD for sale in the Mac App Store because Apple no longer sells it.
You cannot download iWeb, so if you want iWeb, you will have to purchase the iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon and this contains iWeb 09 which is the latest version of iWeb.  Apple does not sell this either.
If your Mac was running Snow Leopard, then it would have come with installation CD's, so yes, you should be able to re-load the whole of the iLife series, which includes iWeb, iDVD and iPhoto back onto your Mac running Mountain Lion.  You did not need to make an additional purcahse of iPhoto from the Mac App Store - you could have re-loaded from these CD's.  The only place you will get a refund is by contacting the Mac App Store. Nobody here can help you with that.
So if you want iWeb back, check to see if it is on you installation CD's - it should be if you have a Mac running Snow Leopard and put it back on your Mac from there.  If not, then your only option is to purchase the iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon and you can load iWeb from there.
As Apple no longer supports iWeb and there is no MobileMe any longer, then there are unikely to be any further updates to the programme and nothing else will come along.  You can still use the app though if you have it and it works with Mountain Lion, however, there may come a time when it won't work with future iOS updates, so it would pay you to look at the alternatives out there which are many and varied.  Take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, Flux 4 etc.  You can download free trials of most and some are for sale in the Mac App Store.
