Lion download interrupted, resumed; OS installation will work?

When Lion comes thru the internet, and there is a disruption in the connection,
can I count on the resumption of the data flow to give me perfect software for the
installation?  My delay was a couple of hours. It's hard for me to believe it's
100% in tact, but I dont have enough time to start another download.
thanks

Visualize the download like reading a very big book. Now imagine keeping a tally of what page you're in and how much of the current page you've read. At the end of each page, you make sure to memorize the entire page, update the tally, and jump to the next one. Should you fail to memorize the page or get interrupted halfway, you only need to redo that last page, all the rest are already safe and sound. At the end of the book, just to be on the safe side you recheck that all pages were safely memorized and thus the entire read is ok.
Now turn that idea into computer code and that's how the downloader works. Only thing needed is to tweak the size of the "pages" to make sure you don't have to redo too much when one gets damaged (pages too big) but without adding too much additional administrative work for making this work ok (pages too little).

From the App Store menu bar top of your screen, click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
You may need to temporarily disable anti virus software to download apps from the App Store including Mountain Lion.
Make sure your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion >  Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.

There is no download available for version 3 that I am aware of - version 9 is the oldest available offered by Adobe.  Serial numbers are only valid for the version they were purchased for.

  • Mountain lion download interrupted, cannot resume download

    Hello,
I am running Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro purchased in 2009. I recently purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store. (My system meets all the requirements to download this software.) While attempting to download Mountain Lion, I must have temporarily lost my DSL Internet connection, which is not an uncommon experience in the rural area where I live; it can go off for five minutes then be on again and sometimes does this several times a week. Obviously this paused my download, which looked to be about 50% complete after the first three hours.A shadow mountain lion icon appeared on my dock showing a pause. As per instuctions in Apple Support I went to the Apps store, clicked on purchases and tried to resume my download. The software is listed under my purchases but "resume" was not an option given. So I clicked on the download button thinking I could just start over. The button went from dark to dim as if the download was going to happen but after a few seconds it darkened again and the download did not start. I tried several times. So I looked in this forum again and found a similar problem. The solution given was to go to the application folder, find the icon for the partial download, discard it, then try downloading from the Apps Store again. There was no icon for a partial download in my Application folder. Now I am stymied and very digusted that it is not possible to email Apple support directly with my problem.
By the way I know Mavericks is the latest version of OSX softtware but download that would mean I would have to buy a new printer so I have decided to stick with Mountain Lion which I am already running on my iMac.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Does the downloaded file/app get corrupted
A slow internet connection for huge files like Mountain LIon (4.34 GB), can time out before the file is completely downloaded.
Try this...  from the App Store menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads.
Something to keep in mind if you need to repair the startup disk or reinstall OS X.
"Reinstalling OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion via OS X Recovery requires broadband access to the Internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the Internet from Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation."
From here >   OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery
So if it's possible, contact your ISP to see if you can upgrade to a faster connection.

  • HT202159 Mountain Lion download not resuming

I tried to download Mountain Lion with the free up-to-date program but was interrupted. I tried to download again the next day but got this message: "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

  • No Adobe installer will work.

    Hello,
I've just yesterday had to re-install my operating system (XP Professional), after which none of the Adobe installers will operate as they had before.
When I try to install I get an error message telling me I must have Service Pack 2 installed.
    I do have SP2 installed.
I've used several Adobe apps for years with this same OS and I've never had this problem before.
I'm using a Dell Dimension 8200 computer, Pentium IV 2 GB processor, 1GB RAM, and a Canon MP780 multiple function printer.
Does anyone have any idea what can be done to solve this?
    Please help.
    Thanks for your consideration,
    George Masi

    George,
By any chance, did Windows automatically upgrade to SP-3? Are you sure? Many folk in the Adobe Premiere/Production Studio forums are having a problem, such as yours, but the common problem is that they did have SP-3, either already, or through an automatic upgrade of the OS. It seems that CS2 installers are not working with SP-3. They want to see SP-2, and do not recognize SP-3.
One user (Production Stuido forum, I think) had luck by copying the Disc 1 to their HDD, then deleting all DirectX folders from that. They then did a Web update of DirectX (9.0c for XP, IIRC) and then did the install from their HDD. All other discs were inserted in DVD drive, as requested. This was for CS2 Production Studio with PS CS2 included.
If your OS is still SP-2, you might try the copy of Disc 1 trick, but I'd call Adobe, as something else must be afoot.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    You don't.

  • How do I do a clean install from Lion download

how do I do a clean install from Lion download ?
My old tower will only stretch to Lion which I have had to download and installed it following the instructions.
My local Applestore genius has told me to do a clean install but I don't have or can't find a copy of the Lion osX to use.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you are already using OS X Lion, use OS X Recovery to reinstall OS X and erase the disk. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
    Follow these steps:
    1. Make a backup of the data you don't want to lose after erasing the hard disk.
    2. Start your computer holding Command and R keys to start in OS X Recovery, and open Disk Utility.
    3. Choose "Macintosh HD" or the OS X partition in the sidebar, go to the Erase tab and erase the disk.
    4. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X

  • A helloworld java applet that will work on an html file

I have spent a lot of time trying to get a java applet to work on a web page. Of course, I can download zip packages and they will work. But I can?t seem to find a formula for creating something simple that will work.
All the examples that I have found will either work on Windows when running it on the command line, or work in Netbeans, but none of them will work when I put time into an html file on a linux web server.
Can someone post, maybe the simplest code that will output ?Hello world? on a Linux Apache Web server.
I have the gist for creating and programming java? as least a basic start. But I?m anxious to see an example that I can compile that will actually display on an html file and not just my Windows programming environment.
Thanks in advance for any feedback on this.

Is that a question? Please make sure to add a question mark.

The lines of text you provided were very enlightening. I was able to do a lot of dissecting and experimenting and have the full gist of my question answered. I don?t have any problems outputting either text on the console or text on browsers.

  • Cannot get lion to complete download before pausing.  It will not resume.  Go back to app store.  Install. Get same result. Help?

I have attempted to download Lion multiple times.  Somehow it pauses during download and will not resume.   I begin again at App Store.  Start the install over.  I have attempted this numerous times without success.  Not sure why I cannot get the download to resume and I don't know why it pauses to begin.  Estimated time to download....6.5 hours  UGH.  Help?

Your system should be OK. I suspect the issue may be with your Comcast service. Have you tried downloading anything else, for example navigate to 10.6.8 Update Combo and see if you can download that OK. If that works OK then you can go to the Mac App Store and navigate through their Support. You can find a link to that in the Mac App Store Quick Links.
The problem is we don't know where the problem is. One thing   you can also do is find a free app on the Mac App Store and see if it will download OK. If it does then you should contact AppleCare or visit your local Apple Store or AASP for some help.

  • I just downloaded OSx Lion and now MS word won't work. If I buy and install MS Office 2011 for Macs will my old documents open?

I just downloaded OSx Mountain Lion and now MS Word won't work. If I buy the current MS Office 2011 and install will I be able to read my old docs?

If it's because you're trying to use Office 2004 or earlier, yes. Note that programs such as OpenOffice and TextEdit will do this for free.
If you're using Office 2008, it's probably better to troubleshoot the problem instead of upgrading.

  • My OS X Mountain Lion download was interrupted and now I can't get it to download at all.

My OS X 7 Mountain Lion download was interrupted and now I have a Mountain Lion shadow on my doc saying "paused" but I can't seem to restart the download

If the download does not resume, then Quit the App Store app and delete the partial download in your Applications folder. Then you will have to start the download all over again from the "Purchases" section of the App store.

  • I installed Lion and now my MS office will not work, is there a way to revert back my original software?

I installed Lion and now my MS office will not work, is there a way to revert back my original software?

Back to Snow Leopard from Lion install method
Read and print out these instructions, your computer is going to be offline and you wil be cutoff from help until your machine is restored.
Clear the Desktop, Downloads and Trash of anything you wish to keep by placing their files in the respective Documents, Music, Pictures, Movie folders.
If you have a TimeMachine drive, update it and disconnect for the duration of this restore time. It will be your second backup system and will have to be wiped and setup again after successfully going back to Snow Leopard if it was connected to the OS X 10.7 boot drive. If it wasn't, then leave it disconnected without updating to Lion.
Backup ALL your Users folders (Documents, Pictures, Movies, Music etc) manually (drag and drop methods) to a (not TimeMachine) external powered drive (HFS+ journaled formatted in Disk Utility) and disconnect, your going to be wiping the entire disk of ALL DATA. (warning, everything will be gone and not recovered)
    Here we go!
Hold c and boot off the 10.6 installer disk that comes with your computer and second screen in just STOP.
Look at the Utilities Menu for Disk Utility.
On the left is the name of your hard drive maker, click it and Erase (format HFS+ Journaled), give it the same name as before, and click Erase...
This should wipe the drive of ALL partitions (GUID, OS X and 10.7 Recovery, Windows if present)
When it's done, quit and install OS X 10.6. Then install all your programs from fresh sources and validate/update.
When you setup a first account, use the same user name as before, this way you can simply drag and drop the content of your previous Users folders from the external drive right back into the new Users folders and everything should work peachy. Links in iTunes to music, playlists and iPhoto links especially.
Update OS X to 10.6.8 using the Combo Update for best results.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
(Note: If your original machine had 10.5 and you want the free iLife that comes with the disks with the computer, then you'll have to install 10.5 first using the same c boot/erase/format methods as above, then update to 10.6 via the disk, then Combo Update 10.6.8)
Final step optional but highly receommended.
A lot of people use a Carbon Copy Clone of their boot drive to a HFS+Journaled external drive as a "hold the option key" bootable backup in case something goes wrong with their boot drive or need to restore to a previous OS X version..  (in addition to TimeMachine drive for more immediate backups.)
It's not advised to have a Bootable Clone and a TimeMachine partition on the same external drive, as two drives gives hardware protection in case one fails.
