  • How do I download iLife on my MacBook Pro (for free) after purchasing a new iOS device

    Hello,
I watched the most recent keynote address just like everybody else and was very happy to hear that Apple was going to provide the new iLife and iWork software for free with the purchase of a new Mac device or iOS device. So, I went and purchased a new iPhone 5S. Now how do I get my free copy of this software on my MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) running Mavericks?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marcus

You must be running Mavericks and have purchased the iLife 11 apps, either they came with the Mac or from a purchased iLIfe 11 disk, in order to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5 for free.
The following came from this MacWorld article: What you need to know about Apple's free apps policy | Macworld
If you own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps) and you got them from the Mac App Store or iOS App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the app page on the Mac or iOS App Store.
If you own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps for the Mac but did not purchase them from the Mac App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the Mac App Store and tapping Update, though you may need to first visit the Purchases screen, where you might see a box called “You Have [number] Apps to Accept.” This ties apps you have on your computer to both your Apple ID and a hardware identifier on your computer, and it should allow you to download free updates to these programs from any computer associated with your Apple ID.
Some users (including yours truly) are reporting issues where the Mac App Store doesn’t recognize their copies; when they click on an iLife or iWork app’s price, they receive the following alert: “[App] is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy [app]?” Macworld spoke with an Apple spokesperson who noted that there’s currently an issue with some legacy customers, and the company is working on a fix. That fix appears to have been implemented; on Thursday, several users told Macworld that they were getting the Accept Apps prompt.
If you don’t own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps), or own older Mac versions: On the iLife side, you’ll have to buy iMovie and iPhoto at full price ($15 or $5, depending on platform). GarageBand is free for everyone to download, though the app does offer in-app purchases. Apple’s iWork apps are each $20 for the Mac, $10 on the iPhone or iPad.

That's the US and Canadian terms only. The other countries each have their own terms document, e.g.:

    http://www.apple.com/eg/macosx/uptodate/

Etc. This is true of almost all Apple legal documentation; they have one set for each country.

  • If I currently purchase OS X Snow Leopard will I be able to upgrade to OS X Lion for free?

I am currently updating my software from Leopard to Snow Leopard, since Lion is coming out in less than a month or so will I be able to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion for free. I saw somewhere on apple.com if I purchase a new mac that you are eligable for a free upgrade, but is it the same if I purchase just the software brand new?

    No. See the announcement:
    Lion Up-To-Date upgrade
"The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request." It does not say you get it for free if you buy Snow Leopard. You have to purchase a new Mac computer.

  • How to download  iwork for mac os x lion for free?

how to download  iwork for mac os x lion for free?

The iWork apps are not freeware, and they no longer have Trial Versions as they did before the appearance of the Mac App Store. But, they are so inexpensive that they really don't need trial versions, and they are much more sophisticated than what we would expect to get at no cost. Once you purchase an iWork app on one Mac device, you can download additional copies for your other computers at no additional charge.

  • Can I upgrade to Mac Lion for free again?

    Hi
I bought my Macbook Pro in June 2011, and beacse I bought it between a certian timeframe, I was able to upgrade to OS X lion for free from the app store durring a promo or something. All I had to do was put in my Mac serial number to confirm it was right.
I sort of wnat to restore my laptop back....however, that will make it go back to leapord, not lion.
I was wondering if there would be some way to re-get lion for free? I know with other aplications, on the iPhone anyway, you can simply click 'buy now' and it says you already had it once, so you can get it again for free... but since I never paid for this, will it make me?
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I got my MBP on june 16 so how can i get lion for free?

i got my macbook pro for birthday and i read that if you purchased it after june 6th you can get lion for free but how do i do that?

The wording on this page seems convoluted to me:
"Users must request their Up-to-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request."
If I purchased my shiny new Macbook Pro on June 11, according to the first part of the statement, I must request my Up-to-Date upgrade by July 11, yet the second part of the statement states I will have 30 days from Lion's official release date to make my request.
I am hoping the second statement is the correct one. It would be helpful if Apple fixed this inconsistency...

You must have purchased a new Mac on or after June 6th. You then have 30 days from the release of Lion in which to make your claim. See

At the page http://www.apple.com/ru/macosx/uptodate/ I can read "This offer is valid only in Austria, Belgium,. ..... Russia, ....." But the page doesn't have a link to form (The page http://www.apple.com/us/macosx/uptodate/ has, But I can select russia, and it ask me to select a State of USA).
So where can I find the form for russian?

Sorry TyPO. "But I can NOT select russia, and it ask me to select a State of USA"
That likely means that you are not able to access that option from the US. You may have to consider giving up on the vodka.

  • How do I upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion for free?

How do I upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion for free? I just bought a new Mac Book Pro 5 days ago with OS X Lion. The Apple store said I could download the new OS for free by entering the receipt # and total amount of the purchase.  I don't know where to start or where to enter this information.  Please help.

    Hi,
Just go to http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/ if in the US otherwise go to main Apple homepage, click on the 'Mountain Lion is here' icon then scroll to the bottom where it says 'Get a free upgrade with your new Mac'. All the info should be there. I did this myself yesterday and am now awaiting my coupon code to get it for free.
