Lion freeze when browsing webpage
I purchased a new 27' iMac two months ago. I upgraded to Lion yesterday. Everything went well until today when I browsed a Chinese website (www.6park.com) using Safari, the computer freezed. I noticed the freezing happened when the webpage contains some pictures or videos (but it didn't always freeze when there are pictures or videos). I can move my cursor but the system had no responsive no matter where I clicked, or no matter which key I stroke. I had to do a hard reboot (using power button). But it will freeze again after some time. This is the website I regular visited for news and postings. I never had this problem in Snow Leopard.
Do you have any idea what can be the problem? Thanks a lot!
Just a thought, are you using the Lastpass extension?
Many extensions have not been adjusted to support Safari 5.1 test… or some of the "old" extensions have not properly been uninstalled before a new version supporting Safari 5.1. has been installed.
This can also be the case for users using the Lastpass extension.
If that is the case run
https://lastpass.com/lpsafari.dmg
and than download the latest Lastpass extension again
https://lastpass.com/lastpass.safariextz
even though you have the newest Lastpass extension already installed.

my problem is my iphone 4s is connected to wi-fi with full signal(3 bars) strength but freezes when browsing and says
"Cannot Open Page"
"Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding"
I already reset the iphone to its factory settings and erase all contents but still the browsing speed freezes or not searching at all. Sometimes it will work and fast but then the problem uccors every now and then. Iv'e been using iphone 4 for two years and I still have it and works fine compared to this IPHONE 4S.Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network -

Scrollbar freezes when browsing
Hope someone can help, when browsing the web, occasionally the scrollbar will freeze and I am unable to scroll down the page, the scroll bar doesnt vanish it just freezes. my iMac is 2.4GhZ intel core 2 duo, with OS X Lion, I have 3GB of memory, could this be the problem? do I need more memory? My hard drive is 250GB and I have 16GB free, could this be part of the problem?
This only occurs when browsing and does not happen when working on documents or scrolling in iphoto etc, doesn't happen all the time but seems to be occuring more often, very annoying!
Any ideas?
Rgds
SimonI think you answered your questions, you should upgrade your RAM and you need to free some space on you hard drive. As a rule you should have 10% remaining free space on your have drive (in your case 25GB). Download OmniDiskSweeper if will give your information on your files and folders. Once you take of these problems you should be good to go.

My husband and I updated to the new OS. Now our iPad Air's keep crashing and freezing whilst browsing the internet. We have done a reset and swiped away pages but nothing is helping. Its very frustrating Can anyone help? Thank you Jo
Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, confirm that this is what you did for a "reset." Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, since you have IOS-7, read this. -
Mountain Lion freezes when opening Chrome, Firefox, and Safari
Hi, I have a mid-2012 750GB MacBook Pro 15" (NOT the retina display) with Mountain Lion 10.8.4.
As of a few weeks ago (mid July 2013), whenever I opened Chrome, the laptop would freeze a few minutes later. The arrow changed to the beach ball and could move, but I couldn't click anything and Force Quit would not open. I had to manually power down the laptop each time. I tried Safari and Firefox and got the same results.
HOWEVER, I downloaded a basic web browser called Lightning which hasn't caused any freezes at all.
But as it's a pretty crappy program, I'd like to have this problem fixed before I go back to college this fall.
Any ideas? Any other details/info I should post? All help is appreciated ThanksPlease read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
Step 2
Repeat with this line:
{ sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
Step 3
{ launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
Step 4
ls -A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal. -
Safari freezes when loading webpages, rainbow wheel
When loading some webpages, especially blogs with pictures from blogspot.com, safari freezes about 75% into loading the page. The rainbow wheel appears and spins indefinitely and does not stop until I force quit the program. This happens on Firefox, too. The problem occurs nearly every time I try loading these webpages.
This problem began once I installed Leopard.Nevermind, I figured it out.
Some flash files were corrupted, so I updated those and repaired permissions. -
Lion freezing when running Adobe CS5.5 apps
Is anyone having this issue or can you offer any troubleshooting help? I installed Lion a couple of days ago on one of my computers (2 x 3 GHx Dual-Core Intel Xeon with 2 GB 667 MHz EEC DDR2 FB-DIMM). When I open up any of the Adobe CS5.5 apps and begin working, after a while, I get the spinning beach ball. I had no issue before in Snow Leopard. Do I need to up my memory or are they just not playing together well?

4GB memory would be better for Lion.

Yosemite: Input freezes when loading webpage with video (flash?)
Just updated to Yosemite, and its impressive. But im having a severe issue where input (mouse and keyboard) freezes for at least 5 seconds whenever I load a webpage in Safari with a video on it. Not sure if its just flash or any video. This did not happen before upgrade.
Im on a late 2013 Macbook pro Retina 13" with Yosemite 10.10
Any suggestions or similar experiences?Try uninstalling Adobe Flash Player, and determine if the web page containing the video you are using really requires it. Most don't.
If, after uninstalling Flash Player you determine you really require it, install it again. That alone may fix the problem. -

Mail freezes when trying to browse network folder
HELP HELP HELP!!!
mail opens fine, sends and receives fine.
If I attach a local file to the new email it works fine
If I browse the Server 2008 share through finder it works fine
*In a new email if i click on attach and try browse the server 2008 shared folder, mail locks up and I have to force close..*
I have 2 macbooks (OSX 10.6.4) and this happens on both..
FYI: I need the windows server so please don't worry about replacing it comments
Thanks for any light you can shed on this issue....I am also experiencing this issue, Mail is freezing when browsing network folders when trying to attach to a composing email.
I was using Ubuntu 10.4 on my other notebook, where I have tried using smb:// and afp:// modes of shares. Both seem to produce the same beach ball freeze experience in mail when attaching. The shares do work well for all of the other applications I have used so far however.
For now I am able work around this by using Finder to browse the network share to copy the file to a local folder, and then navigate Mail to that local copy to attach that. Though it is the inconvenient kind of extra leg work that I am used to and expect when using (other PC type OS)
And I am interested in figuring out how to attach files on network shares too. -
Spinning ball when browsing Xvid videos..
Hey guys, I'm afraid I have abit of a difficult one with not much to go on.
I have my Mac Mini G4 hooked up to my standard def tv via the Composite/S-Video adapter and running iTheater on it to play back Xvid movies, the problem is whenever I'm browsing to find a video inside of iTheater, my Mac will freeze up, with a spinning ball going continuously. The cpu fan will go into turbo mode, but I think it eventually gets over it after a few minutes and unfreezes (thaws? :p).
Ok, so, here are the details
- 10.4.11
- iTheater 0.2.0
- DivX 6.7
Now, I've been watching movies fine in DivX Player, and Quicktime appears to play them as well, I haven't played for too long since QuickTime won't do full screen.(I think iTheater uses it as a backend)
It will freeze whenever I highlight a Xvid video (but not always, sometimes I can highlight a few no worries), which should be when it gets a thumbnail of the video, if I'm correct, but never does. It seems to affect videos in the Movies folder and via my Samba share on a windows box, both wirelessly and wired.
The problem doesn't appear to happen when connected to my 17" computer LCD.
The problem used to happen with MediaCentral many months ago, but I eventually rage quit and dumped my Mac in a cupboard. MediaCentral if I remember correctly would freeze when browsing videos even though the software doesn't generate thumbnails.
I've tested the RAM using the Apple Hardware test and Rember, and it passed both.
So, that leaves me with the following theories (I think),
- Codec issue
- Something to do with my settings for displaying it on the tv which are causing it to hang (they're default, and its a PAL tv)
- Hardware issue.
Anyone able to help?I have to think you are just dealing with a bug in the 0.2 code of iTheatre.
Have you tried your question on the iTheatre support forums?
It is particularly odd that you don't have the problem with your monitor, but do with the TV.
If diagnosing this, I would experiment with having/not having a network share alias. And also trying different xvid files, in case there is some odd about one of them. -
Late 2007 MB Freezes when waking from Sleep after Lion Upgrade
I have a Late 2007 MacBook that I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion. Since the upgrade, the computer occassionally freezes when waking up from Sleep (putting it to sleep by shutting the screen). Sometimes, I will see about 1-2 seconds of activity (i.e. AIrPort icon searching for network), but then the screen will turn black and the computer will restart. Other times, I actually get a kernel panic.
I never had this issue with Snow Leopard, and it seems to happen more often if I try to use the computer (i.e. move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard) immediately after I open the screen and while it's still waking up. By being patient and giving the computer 5-10 seconds to wake up, it seems to only freeze about 1 out of every 7 times when waking up, but it's stil frustrating to not know whether or not I'm going to lose my work anytime I put the computer to sleep.
From other issues that I've researched, I've disabled Bluetooth completely (which reportedly fixed some similar issues), but I still had periodic freezes even with it disabled.
The only thing I can think of that might be contributing to a weird hardware issue is that the AirPort card died on me a few years ago, and I had to replace it with an AirPort Extreme from a Late 2007 15" MacBook Pro (I'm pretty sure the model of the card I put in is AR5BXB72, although I could open my computer back up to verify if that would be helpful). Snow Leopard seemed to be perfectly fine with that card, and Lion is ok for the most part (WiFi works perfectly fine), but I'm wondering if I need to update/change any Kexts for that piece of hardware.
Here is one of the kernel panic reports from about 2 weeks ago:

I think Firefox mozilla is having issues with Adobe reader. It frequently crashes. I think this may be why my computer freezes when pulling up a PDF file or other text windows, yet, everything works perfect when using Explorer as my browser. It is so frustrating using Mozilla because it gets stuck when opening windows which require pulling up certain types of texts or applications, then I have to wait forever, or, reboot, and once in a while it gets so stuck that I have to take out battery and remove all power sources then start from scratch, and set my computer back to all settings previous to failure. Like I said, this only happens with Mozilla, all other browsers work perfectly well, but I love my Mozilla and it is my preferred browser. Please help. Thanks so much,
susanHi Susan,
The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").
Good Luck :D -
System: Windows XP, Firefox 17.0.1.
Firefox freezes when doing anything that needs to browse local directory such as saving file, uploading, etc....For example, can't save any image using "save link as". When attaching a file in email, whenever the browsing to other location on the hard drive will freeze firfox, which turns to "not responding"....We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
#Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.
Thanks in advance for your help!
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the [[Firefox crashes]] article.
