Lion freezes after selecting dashboard in mission control.
After selecting Dashboard in Mission Control the Dashboard freezes. Have to do a hard shut down to exit.

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and can't get desktop spaces to work correctly. When I activate Mission Control I can see the current space's open applications, but the small desktops along the top aren't there. Neither will the little plus sign show up to make more desktops. However, if I make the dashboard a space, I can see the desktops in that space ONLY. Also, if I am in another space and activate Mission Control – if I click where I expect the "Space 4 desktop" to be (although I can't see the image) I will be moved to the 4th space. I can swipe left and right to navigate through spaces, but without those little images at the top Mission Control is VERY awkward to use.
I have restarted, checked and unchecked options in the Mission Control settings. I've tried using option to activate the plus sign. I've updated to the latest release of the software. None of these have worked. I hope someone can help me.
Have a read here first.

Anyone find a fix for the freeze after sleep on Lion
Try using disk utility to verify/repair your hard drive, also repair your permissions.

Lion freezes after upgrading to SSD
Hi all,
I just purchased the Mac Mini with a 2.7 GHz Core i7 processor and independent graphics processor. The Mini came with a 750GB hard drive. I purchased separately a 120GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD, and I installed it as a second drive (using the installation kit from ifixit). I then installed Lion (10.7.2) on the SSD, and made the HD the location for my home directory.
Lion now freezes all the time. I'll be using one app (say, Safari) when suddenly I'll get the pinwheel of death. I find I can switch to another app, but then that will freeze too. After that, I can't do anything; nothing will respond. Eventually, the entire screen turns white. After that, all I can do is a hard reboot by holding down the power button. At first I thought it was Safari, since it seemed to happen most often when having that open. After switching to Firefox (my preferred browser anyway), the problem didn't apper for awhile. But since then, the same thing has happened while using other programs, such as Mail, and it has now happened with Firefox too. The freezing happens randomly: sometimes I've gone several hours without it happening; others, it's happened within a few minutes. It seems to happen when multiple programs are trying to read or write to the drive.
I think it might be related to the SSD based on googling around for similar issues. I installed the SSD the day I got the mini, so I'm not sure if it would have happened on the HD also. (I only booted to the HD a couple of times, to make sure it worked, and did not stay logged in very long.) As bad luck would have it, I started getting the freezing issues just after I had deleted the installation of Lion on the HD, so I can't switch to it to verify that it is the SSD.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who has an OWC SSD has experienced similar problems, and if there was anything they were able to do to fix it. Is this a problem with Lion? Would downgrading to 10.6 help (if that's even possible)? I know there have been similar problems with other SSDs, but I thought the OWC Mecury Pros were top of the line.I got my drive from OWC (6G SSD) on the 20th, so pretty much the same time as you. The machine will hang randomly, usually around 45mins-90mins after a reboot. Seems like we are having the same issue. The solution given to me by OWC was to install the new firmware (http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/OWC/SSD). Apparently a new version came out right after we ordered it.
My specs are:
Early 2011 15" MBP w/8GB RAM
Using the Data Doubler from OWC as well, which now houses my old HD (750GB)
Just so you don't waste the time I've already lost, I've tried the following:
Clean install of lion and the using migration assistant
Time Capsule restore
Disabled Sudden Motion Sensor
Disabled hibernation mode
Cleaned my cache using Onyx
I'm going to give the new firmware a shot, and will update here if there are any improvements.
At this point, if the firmware doesn't work, I wonder if there has been a bad batch of SSD drives at the point where we got ours. -
My MBP 2011 w Lion freezes after sleep with blue screen and other sleep issues
My MBP v2 of 2011 line with Lion on it freezes occassionally (maybe 1 out of 10 awakenings from sleep) where the screen is blue and only way to make it stop is to hold the power button and restart.
Another issue I have is I'll come out of sleep, and the wallpaper on my screen disappears, and I just see a gray background. If I go to Monitor preferences, it claims the wallpaper is set to my normal background. Restarting has the background display again.
Note: I often use a external monitor, so good chance these freezing issues happen when I unplug/plug in the external monitor (via DVI cable to DisplayPort converter to MBP)
Today I had a slightly different experience with the freezing. It had my second monitor have a bunch of pixelated garbage and a message about holding power button down and restarting. I restarted, and got a "your system has crashed unexpectedly" like message, so I told it to send the data to Apple.I used to have that problem as well, try going to system preferences and having the computer require a password after waking, worked for me.

Lion freezes after HDMI switch on Mac Mini
having two newest Models of Mac Minis, both having LCD HDMI Displays connected to them.
both running newest Software of Lion.
there is a HDMI Switch, to switch the 2nd Display on thunderbold which is a Projector between the two Minis.
One of the Minis freezes, when the HDMI port is switched away from it, the other doesnt.
Once i unplug the HDMI cable or switch back to the Port where this "problematic" Mini is connected, the freeze is unlocked and everything works again.
This is only on "the problematic" Mini, the other works fine, even when the HDMI Port is switched away from the second (working) one it does not freeze, nor having any issues.
this is weird, how can it be, that the problem only exists on one Mini with the Same configuration, and not on the other one?
And How can i possibly solve it...I have Mac Mini (mid 2010) hooked on to 5.1 ch speakers (Bose) and LED TV (Samsung) through AV amp (Bose LS-35), all connections using HDMI cable. The dream system autput is limited to 3.1 (no sound from LR and RR).
When I then configure my speakers through the Midi-setup utility. I can specifically trigger each speaker successfully (control sound comes with the configure speakers tool). The video is also good. The problem is that whatever movie I play and whatever software I use (DVD player or Quicktime or VLC), I hear only stereo. I also tried every possible permutation in the software settings without success.
The fact that the midi-setup (in utilities) can drive every speaker indicates that the wiring is correct and even that the AV-received transmits the macs signal properly. But somehow, the output from the mac (apart from the setup tool) fails miserably.
I looked through hundreds of forums without success. People suggest using toslink and HDMI connection, but then we need to use two remotes, etc and not sure if that will either.
Apple clearly states MacMini is capable of producing 5.1 ch sound (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4214)
Hope to get some help and guys in Apple zero in on the issue -
Macbook Pro Retina Mountain lion freezes after deep sleep
Hello All,
I am having a strange problem with my MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 (Mountain Lion 10.8.3). Since about January time It keeps crashing after I put it into a deep sleep. After closing the lid - waiting for 1 hour or so - then reopening the lid, i get presented with the normal Apple login screen (breifly) and then it crashes and i get a grey screen saying my mac has had an issue and it needs to restart.
When i log back on i get an error message that I can send onto Apple and then my Mac carries on as normal. Very weird.
I have searched these forums, been into the Apple store, spoken to Apple done hardware diagnostics, reinstalled the OS (worked breifly then stopped working again) - so i assume its one of the programs or bits of hardware that i use (which i have tried to isolate/remove)- but i am still strugling to solve these issues.
It would be great if someone could give me some advice around:
1. Where I can find these log files/error messages, etc.
2. Understanding what it is causing this issue.
Thanks in advance. The solution is to dump the 100€ mini-display port DVI-D adapter that apple sells and buy a mini-Display to Display-Port cable for 6€. No crashes, no annoying interruption of the display (which I had several times the day for 2 or 3 seconds). There are very short interruptions now, but it is much better than with the apple adapter. The apple adapter needs a USB port, which is not necessary with the simple cable.
As for the monitor: Burn In, otherwise great. The burn in can be erased via monitor menu but should not be there in the first place.
Hope this helps. -
Editor freezes after selecting tool.
I am using PSE 12 on a Macbook Air. I have a RAW file. I select "Open Image" so that I can use the non-RAW tools. When I open the Editor, I can use the mouse freely to select a tool. I select Dodge. The mouse cursor changes from the arrow tip to the circle.
That's the end of any functionality, however. Attempting to apply the tool does not change the picture. Moving the mouse up to the menu bar does not change the cursor from the circle to the arrow tip. I cannot use keyboard commands in the Editor. I have to go to Finder and Force Quit the Editor in order to exit the Editor.
I have re-installed the program, using the Uninstaller to uninstall it first. I have deleted my preferences files. I still have the problem.
I have been able to try this on two different photo files and get the same problem with both files.
Thanks in advance!Barbara,
Thanks so much! That looks like my problem, since I recently switched to Yosemite. I will install the plug-in. Again, thanks for a prompt and directly relevant reply!

My iMac (With Mountain Lion) Freezes After Leaving It On For 1 Week
This isn't the first time this has happened, I started to recently pay attention to the amount of days my machine is on and now see it's approx. 7 to 8 days then it will just lock up and freeze, can't click or do anything.
Then I'm forced to power it down.
I won't browse or anything, I have no 3rd party plugins, I haven't tweaked anything, I keep it dead simple, which has me confused on what to do now.Yea, that really doesn't help when I already stated everything I do is normal.
I did state that my machine has no kind of 3rd party software that runs when this happens.
I don't tweak my computer ( modifying it, etc )
I keep everything simple to the way it was ( so simple that I even use the Aqua wallpaper & Flurry screensaver lol )
I did run Disk Utility and tend to atleast once a month just to check if things are running ok.
So again, all is normal with what I run and throughout the time before this happens, everything runs smoothly with no hiccups. -
Macbook Pro Freezes after wake up from sleep
My Macbook Pro 5,5 with mountian Lion freezes after waking up from sleep. i have 8 GB RAM and did a hardware test wich was passed. I also have a SSD of 240 GB in the optical drive. this is my startup drive. Another HD is my workdrive. The first thing I see is that the Airport does not come back and it seems that is does not wake up. After that the whole finder freezes.
What can be the problem?Back up all data immediately as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator. I've tested them only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'Channel t|GPU D|I/O|n Cause: -' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. -
Photoshop Elements 11 freezes when selecting Photomerge
Photoshop Elements 11 freezes after selecting images in the tray and then selecting Photomerge/Group Shot or Photomerge/Scene Cleaner. The program does not respond and then exits after Windows checks for a solution. I tried this with 2 images of size 3000x2000. The system is Win7, Intel i5, 8GB RAM, 10GB free SSD and >500GB HDD (set in Edit/Preferences).
Since the app freezes immediately I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this problem.
Any help would be appreciated. Are you able to drag a source image into the editing window or select any of the tools e.g. pencil or eraser. If not use the menu in Expert mode and go to:
Edit >> Preferences >> General
Click the button “Reset Preferences on next launch”
Then close the application and re-start.
Let us know if that makes any difference. -
Pages does not display on Mission Control
I use three fingers on the trackpad to initiate Mission Control. Even though I have a document open under Pages on my desktop, Mission Control does not show me an image or icon for pages that I can select. I see a vertical white line where the icon should be, but I cannot select it. Do I not have an option to select Pages from Mission Control? The same thing happens when I hit F3.
I have a Macbook Pro.
Thanks! That's what I mean...it does not have its own pile. Pages does not appear at all when I go to MC, even though I have it open on my desktop. When I move windows around to bring it to the front and go back to MC, the document dissappears to a thin vertical white line in MC and my other open programs have their own pile. When I exit out of MC, the document appears from where the thin vertical line is. I can't click on the line either, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I've restarted it three times and nothing has changed.

I have installed Lion a few moments ago.
Mission Control is not working. It crashes every time and I see the following message on console:
20/07/11 19:11:41,991 com.apple.dock.extra: Could not connect the action buttonPressed: to target of class NSApplication
I have deleted the com.apple.dock.* files but the problem persists.
How do I solve that?

Macbook Pro Freezes After Activating Mission Control
I am updated currently to 10.7.4, and I am having a problem that could not be duplicated after a 4 day stay at my local Apple store. Basically the computer freezes up and becomes unresponsive. The last two times it has happened, I noticed (Possibly a time or two before) it was right as I was activating Mission Control. I use Mission Control as a hot corner and right as the mouse hits the corner to activate it, the computer screen shuts off and I have to do a hard reset holding the power button down to get it back. If the keyboard was lit up at the time the computer goes down it stays lit up, and the fans continue to run, but I cannot get it to do anything. I thought maybe the screen was the only thing off, but the volume buttons do no make the sound associated with raising and lowering the volume. I shut the lid and open it, but the keyboard stays lit up even when it is down. The Macbook is just off in la la land.
I should also add that I upgraded the RAM to 8g in April and I had absolutely no problems before. The RAM tested out fine according to Apple even after a deep lengthy scan. I bought the RAM from Crucial and I am sure it is the correct RAM for my computer. One would think even Apple should have told me if it was not the correct RAM, or the computer just plain would not work. So I am at a loss as to what the problem is.
As a last thing, both of most recent times this happened, the computer had not just been woke up, but maybe 5-10 minutes after being brought out of a lengthy sleep maybe 3-4 hours or so. Or it seemed like this was the case.
Thanks in advance....Hi Muddy Angel,
i'm just wondering if you managed to get a solution to this problem.
i'm expiriencing the same problem for the past one year and can't seem to find the problem.
the screen goes black usually when the mission control is in use, it happen to me when using hot corners, trackpad gesture or even the function key (F9), on either the macbook screen or external display.
the problem seem to be connected somehow to the finder as it some rare times occur even when shifting windows between spaces.
i tried several forumes and didn't find the solution.
i reinstalled OS 3-4 times and still no solution, i recently upgraded to the latest OSX Lion hoping that this might fix the problem but the problem still exists....aaarrrrgggggggg
this is extremely extremely extremely frustrating, as sometime in the middle of a meeting or presentation the macbook goes black and need 5-8 minutes to restart it with all the other apps.
if you did find an answer P L E A S E let me know,
Thanks in advance. -
Can't open mission control after installing mountain lion
Mountain Lion is working smoothly for me except that I can't open mission control. I became aware of this because the "hot corners", which I use frequently stopped working for me. Maybe there's a preference file somewhere I can trash? I can't seem to find anything in the library.
I'm having the same issue. Not only the hot corners not work for mission contral, but neither do the keyboard shortcuts. A restart fixes the problem for me, until my iMac (2011) goes to sleep and is woken up again. After that, the mission contral functionality no longer works, and neither does the "show desktop" hot corner functionality.

HI all, How can I pass a variable content as a string in c# to the sequence variable named as RunState.Root.Locals.UUT.SerialNumber. The main gold is to pass the string value from textbox in c# GUI to the sequence parameters. Tnx
