Lion gets order of characters wrong, if typed quickly

I have looked through some of the discussions here, but could not find one that described the exact problem I've been having, so here it goes:
After upgrading to Lion I noticed that if I type quickly, there sometimes is a lag before the characters actually appear on screen. If that happens, they appear in the wrong order, like I had mistyped. First I thought it was me, but after a while I realized it had to do with something else. I have not changed the way I type, and as I work in web design I enter text all day, with most of it being short word-like tags, that have long entered into muscle memory, so it couldn't be that.
Now, I have no idea where this could be coming from, but it's pretty frustrating. I narrowed it down a little: it only happens when I first focus an input field in a program or website, e.g. switch between the url and search fields in safari, use spotlight, or even on websites like say facebook. I'm suspecting it happens when the system is busy doing something else, that the delayed input happens.
I enter:

and on screen:
aexmple text
shows up.
Since quite a few people seem to have been having problems with their keyboards since installing Lion, I assume Apple will react to this in some way, hopefully with the 10.7.2 update, which is soon to be released. I hope it will fix this annoying glitch.
If other people are having the same issue, I'd like to hear about it and whether or not they have been able to narrow it down or fix it. I first suspected third party extensions, like DoubleCommand, which I had installed, but after uninstalling the bug still persists.
I am using a plastic white apple keyboard (no aluminum) on a first generation aluminum iMac Core 2 Duo, 2.8GHz, 4GB RAM.

Could you enact the following two changes to see if the combination might alter the behaviour you (and others) have described, and if so, perhaps try and gauge by what measure its frequency, duration, or nature might prove affected.
a) Under System Preferences, locate the Keyboard section,
     -> then pick the "Delay Until Repeat" slider,
     -> and move it to the extreme right.
b) In Terminal, run the following command:
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false
Finally let's reboot just to be sure; here's to hoping it helps, or at the least, possibly give us a hint.

Note: You can later reverse item "b" with this command:
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool true
