Lion goes back to sleep after 40 seconds.

If I wake up Lion with a keystroke - and then do nothing - Lion goes to sleep again after about 40 seconds. I have settings at 10 minutes.
Ok - I can live with that. BUT - if Lion wakes up with timer (alarm) - you can do automatic wake up settings in SystemSettings - it also goes to sleep again after 40 seconds. This means that my sceduled backup 4 in the morning never executes - 'cause my backup program (Personal Backup) is just about to start when Lion goes to sleep again.
So - the possibility to set automatic wake-ups in SystemSettings is not useful - if no one is at the computer and start to write or move the mouse Lion will go to sleep in 40 seconds again. Do anyone else here experienced the same? I would like to figure out if it is MY LIon or if it is a general bug in Lion. Thanks.

This happens rarely but consistently! I't seems to happen about 5% of the time waking from sleep. It MAY be more prone to happen if I had been moving with it in my bag, but it can happen at any waking time after any duration of sleep.

  • Laptop goes back to sleep after closing and opening lid

When I close the lid to put the computer to sleep and then reopen the lid, the computer comes back on briefly and then goes back to sleep.  It will come back on if I unplug the SafMag.  I've reset the SMC following the on-line instructions; I currently have SMC firmware 1.41f2.

    Any advice?
Sounds like you need to take it in to an Apple Store.

  • After waking rMBP from sleep and typing password, rMBP goes back to sleep after a few seconds and won't wake for about 7-8 seconds.

Absolutely embarrassing. What is going on here? When will we see a fix?

  • Mac Book Pro immediately goes back to sleep after waking under Lion

The sleep problem I am having seems to be in the minority, so I thought I would get it  (and the resolution) up here for others. I have a 2011 17" MBP.
The laptop wakes up as normal, and the display is active for 1.5 to 2 seconds before it shuts off again.During that time, the keyboard appears to be active, but even if you sucessfully log in, it will still continue to blink.
The trick that seems to work is to unplug the machine before waking it up. Under battery, the machine wakes up properly and you can plug it in again afterwards with out issue.

Would you create a new user account. Log into this account. Does the problem persist? If so, then navigate to the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ folder. Remove the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file. Restart the computer and reconfigure your Energy Saver preferences for both Power and Battery. Also, reset the SMC: Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC). Test to see if this fixes the problem.

  • My iPad suddenly started to show crazy colors.  I turned it off and had to use the two button trick to turn it back on.  Now it shows only green stripes for a few seconds and goes back to sleep.

My iPad suddenly started to show crazy colors.  I turned it off.  It would not reboot until I used the two-button reboot.  Now it shows only green stripes.  only for a few seconds and goes back to sleep.  HELP!

    Standard troubleshooting...
    1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
    2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    3. Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red to delete all apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
    4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
    5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
    6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • After I set a repeating alarm clock to off, it goes back to on after a few seconds.

After I set a repeating alarm clock to off, it goes back to on after a few seconds. What is happening and how do I fix it? I have an iPod touch, 4th generation, iOS 5, no jailbreak whatsoever.

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • U310 touch Wakes from sleep then goes back to sleep

This problem started recently (I think I have a driver problem, but I'm not sure which driver I should be after).  When I close the lid, the computer goes to sleep as it normally does.  When I open the lid, the computer "wakes up" (the screen turns on), but the power button continues to flash as if it were still sleeping.  I then get about 15-25 seconds of use before the computer goes back to sleep.  If I wake the computer, then shut down, then restart, it works fine, but once it goes into sleep mode, it doesn't work properly after.  I'm considering disabling sleep for now and just having it go straight to hibernate (with the SSD hybrid, it probably won't be that much slower), but I'd like to resolve the issue properly.

I'm going back to cs4 after using cs6 and I can't open nef files in camera raw.

Each camera needs a specific camera raw version (ACR).  And each ACR is tied to a specific version of PS.  See this list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

  • Using DVD Player, the show goes back to menu after every chapter, even though I selected "Play Entire Episode".

It only does this on Reading Rainbow DVDs so far: Using DVD Player, the show goes back to menu after every chapter, even though I selected "Play Entire Episode".  It does this whether the laptop is plugged in or is using battery power.  How do I get it to play all??  Thanks.

Turns out it was NOT the software or the Mac. I bought a portable DVD player and this problem happens with it, too.

  • Why does my iPod Touch 5th Gen not go back to sleep after a notification?

No matter what notification it is, my iPod will stay with the screen lit for forever, just resting on the lock screen. I have to physically hit the sleep button to put it back into sleep. I have the auto-lock set for two minutes, and it's now beginning to not even auto lock after that. Anyone run into this? Thanks!

  • When opening my computer screen to certain angle, computer goes back to sleep. Help.

Hello. My computer started having two problems recently.
    1. I feel like it overheats (fan is running) after not much use
    2. I'll open the Macbook screen after it's been asleep and if I put the screen at certain angles, it'll go back to sleep.

Many companies offer Ram that is compatible, but they are considered cheaper ram and in truth they are not really compatible.
Those that are known to be for sure and are a little more expensive but there history shows they are excellent.

  • Macbook Air 2012 goes back to Sleep immediately after waking it up

So I have had this 13inch Macbook Pro for about a month and in that time it has done this about twice already. In order to get it working again I have to wake it up the second time and then it works fine.
I have done the SMC  and PRAM reset but that does not seem to help. This usally happens when the Mac is connected to a power supply and goes to sleep by itself after some inactivity. Would like to know if anyone is having a similar issue, if so did you found any solution? Thanks in advance. Just to clarify I am working on a 13 inch Macbook Air with 256GB SSD and using Mountian Lion 10.8.

Have also had this issue since purchase. Have tried most solutions, including restoring from a time machine backup file, to no avail.
The issue always happens like this:
    1) plug computer in with screen open.
    2) macbook air goes to sleep on its own
    3) come back to use computer later (usually a few hours later) and take computer off power supply.
    4) computer works fine for about 2 minutes
    5) computer screen dims for about 2 seconds and then the computer goes to sleep
    6) have to hit space bar repeatedly to wake computer up
    7) Computer runs normally until plugged in again and then the whole issue starts all over again from step 1.
    Anyone help?
    Am running 10.8.4. 2ghz Intel Core i7, 8gb ram, 256gb SSD, 11.6" Macbook Air (purchased June 2012)

  • New iPad with IOS 6 goes back to sleep during initial bootup.

My new iPad3 after IOS6 upgrade seems to have following issues.  I turn on unit with sleep switch. Apple Logo comes up for about 15-20 seconds. Blue "wavey" screen with time at top and "slide to unlock" on bottom appears. "Slide to Unlock" is "frozen" with NO moving "light behind it" and cannot open apps.  After about 5 seconds screen goes black. If I tap "home" button, iPad wakes up and blue "wavey" screen is normal with "slide to unlock" with moving lights. And swiping now unlocks and apps appear and all is well.
This started with upgrade to IOS6.  I have reset all settings multiple times with no sucess. I did the complete reset to erase all Content and Setttings.   I have done the complete restore thru iTunes and still no success.  I called Apple Support, unfortunately, I don't have Apple Care (ipad is 3.5 months old) and the rep did not really understand problem and after talking with her supervisor said to go to Apple Store for help. Problem....... Apple Store is a three hour drive from here!  I explained to her the problem step by step and she still did not grasp the idea.
I also have a Marware brand case and thought maybe the "sleep" magnet for sleep was causing this, took ipad out of case but still goes to sleep on initial boot up. Any ideas before I make the three hour each way drive?
    Rob

Oh, I also did several times the Reset with holding the "sleep-wake" button and the "home" button for the 10-15 seconds for the Apple logo to appear.  This also did not clear problem.
