Lion Installation STUCK

Hi,
this is extremely frustrating, i've been trying all morning to install Lion from scratch (with the burned DVD backup) on my iMac (after installing it successfully on my MBPro), but the installer gets stuck on "Downloading additional components. Your computer will restart automatically".
Looking at the log the last line is this:
Retrieved package com.apple.MacOSX.lang.tr (file://localhost/Volumes/Image%20Volume/Packages/Turkish.pkg)
i don't even want turkish, i don't really see why i'm not able to choose which languages i want to install, but this is a different matter.
What can i do? I tried booting without a network connection, repairing the hard drive over and over again, wiping it, everything one can do (which is pretty much nothing considering the simplicity of the installer) i did.
Please help, i kind of need my computer.
PS. i don't think it's downloading anything, i have a very fast connection and in all this time i could have downloaded a full install 3/4 times.

Just to follow-up on my previous post ...
I finally decided to let the installer continue even though the "time remaining" counter continued to rise. And I'm happy to report that after about 45 minutes of just letting it sit, it very quickly finished, rebooted and all is well.
Best advice I can give is to just let it go and ignore the counter for time remaining. Total install time on the iMac was about an hour and a half, but it finally did work and all is working well.
Hope this helps. Your mileage may vary.

  • Mt. Lion installation stuck at 4 minutes remaining = help

Never had this happen before during an installation. I am installing from a usb drive which I made
from my initial Mt. Lion installation so that I didn't have to tie up the servers/wait with each installation.
I have used this drive to install Mt. Lion successfully on another laptop (I am installing on a MacBook
Pro 2010 machine). This machine and the other I have previously installed on are all authorized on my
account. I have seen the Time Remaining get to under 10 minutes and then jump back to a higher time
before finishing but never seen it just stop. It has been about 45 minutes now. Thanks in advance for
    any ideas.

    Hello hughmourous,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your OS X Yosemite installation did not complete.
If you have not already, and your installation did not complete, I'd recommend holding down the power button on your Mac to turn it off, and try booting into Safe Mode:
Follow these steps to start up into Safe Mode.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup, but not before the startup sound.
Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.
After the Apple logo appears, it may take longer than usual to reach the login screen. This is because your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
To leave Safe Mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

    All the best,

  • Mountain Lion Installation stuck at 21 Minutes Left

Late 2008 iMac. It has been stuck for about an hour now at 21 minutes remaining. The computer just had a new hard drive put in 2 weeks ago, and I can't imagine what is wrong. Should I try a force restart? I'm just worried that I'll erase all of the data on the computer, so what is my best option?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The only thing you can do is to restart the Mac holding the Power button. Then, start it and see if you can install Mountain Lion.
If not, hold Command and R keys while your iMac is starting to start in OS X Recovery and reinstall OS X. You should have a backup of your files

  • Mountain Lion installation stuck

    Hi,
I have big problems to install Mountain Lion om mbpro late 2008 (Snow Leopard).
Downloaded from App Store, then restart and install. And here we start:
Time Remaining: 34 minutes for 1h. Nothing changed.
I hard reset - same situation.
I have clear PRAMa and NVRAM - nothing helped.
So I am stuck at Install loop after every reset - 34 minutes and nothing happens.
Is it way to "back" to Snow Leopard?
Or maybe someone have same problem?

If this would be an hour I wouldn't post this ;-).
    Download is one thing.
Install was exactly 5 and half hour.
First install stuck at at begining (34 min remaining).
    So I hard reset.
    After this, same situation.
So I cleared PRAM and NVRAM.
Same... then SMC reset. Same situation etc.
At the end I leave update for hours.
After 2-3 I saw progress bar in middle, yay :-).
So I left this and went watch London 2012 Opening Ceremony ;-).
After next 2h I heard reboot sound.
Dont ask me why it tooks such a long time. But all works now, no data was lost, I am happy :-).

  • Mac OS X Lion installation stuck

I'm trying to install OS X mavericks but I have to install Lion first to install mavericks later, Here is it, I startup at disk utility, could never fix it, but it tells me to install Lion instead of mavericks, so I go ahead and try to install Lion, The Progress bar shows it's at the end and its done, but the time goes to atleast 2 minutes, then jumps back to 30 min or more, I kept it over night, still nothing, how can I fix that?! I also tried USB Didn't work, and no I don't have the CD if I did I would've used it.

    You have to buy Lion,

  • Has anyone encounter a Grey Screen with spinning wheel stuck (frozen waited more than 5h) in after running Lion Installer from SL?

    Hi
I've tried almost everything on my Macbook Pro 8,2 (i7 2.0Ghz).
    Wipe/Erase the SL partition.
Burned the ESD dmg to a DVD.
Reset SMC,PRAM and NVRAM many times.
    Run Repair Disk. Passed OK.
    Run Hardware Test. Passed OK.
Download the Lion Installer 4 times. MD5 Passed.
Everytime I've tried to install lion it give me this Grey screen... The mouse wheel start spinning and it then stops, and nothing happens from that point. (Also rebooted many, many times same result).
SL Install disk runs fine, even installing it from Zero. I've setted up time machine. (The restore to definetly works also the SL installation too)
I'm a little far away to send my Macbook to a customer service.
    What else should I try?
    :S

    Thank you very much William
I ran the installer and saw the same screen stuck... After I used Shift to boot in safe mode, I got the 3 beeps with grey screen apple logo. So then I rebooted into Single User do the 'nvram boot-args="-x -v"' and voila the installer continued with no issues I've turned back de 'nvram boot-args=""' and everything seems to be working fine.
Really weird beahviour of the installer with my Mac.

Ta cmd+q og velg hopp over.
Anyway, this solution did not work for me. I pressed cmd+q and chose "skip". Next picture should be "create account" but on my laptop it also skipped over this stage and I came to the page where I have to take picture. Trying to reinstall now.
Is this issue only experienced from Norwegian users? At least it seems so..

So I deleted OSX Lion Installer, and go to Mac AppStore again to re download. But something terrible happen, on my Mac AppStore still said that OSX Lion insalled. So I can't re download it.
    How to fix this problem?
Please help, I need to redownload the files. So I can upgrade my OS X into Lion
    Regards
    Jauhari

I am on my 9th attempt at deleting and re-downloading.  Called Apple tech and they did a scan of my iMac which I sent to them.  Apparently files are getting corrupted during the download process and Apple tech services is saying to just delete and try again, but this many times?

  • I own a late 2009 Macbook Pro, and it keeps freezing after OSX Lion installation.

I own a late 2009 Macbook Pro, and it keeps freezing after OSX Lion installation.  I will post my computer's 'specs' below.  I installed Lion, from Snow Leopard, through the App store.  The first week, it worked like a dream, and was loving my brand new computer, or so it seemed.  I then began to run into problems, and I can't confirm this 100%, but I believe it was after I updated from 10.7.1, to 10.7.2.
The freezes are sporatic at best, and cannot be narrowed down to one app.  I googled the issue about two weeks ago, and found a fix involving a temporary log-in, verifying the disk, restarting the computer holding CMD+R, and repairing the disk from there.  That fixed the problem.  For about three or four days.  From there I brought my laptop to Best Buy, where I purchased the computer (start the groans, my dad wanted the accidental damage, and he was paying, there was no argument).  My warranty there was still good, but all they were offering was to check my hard-drive, and possibly ship it out.  That would not be good for me, as I am a High School student, who works online.
So I then decided to go to the Apple store, see what they said.  They said a bunch of people had this problem, it would cost a lot to fix, as I would need a new Logic Board.  This did not make any sense to me, as I knew it was Lion's fault, so why would they not make the L-2009MBP Logic Board compatible, and why are only a few people having this problem, well a lot more than a few, but I mean not everyone.
So I asked a friend about it, and we decided to run a back up, and erase the computer, and re-install Lion.  Figuring maybe my data was corrupted during install.  This helped for a day or two, and happened again.  So this time, we backed up only files (music, pics, documents, etc.,) and did a fresh install.  I got my computer back last night.  Now, I am not saying that didn't help.  Previously I would have frozen about 18 times well writing this, but I have not frozen once (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself).  I have gone from about one freeze every 10-15 minutes (sometimes worse), to about one every 1-3 hours.  Which, let's be honest is still a lot.
So, before I just decide to go and revert to Snow Leopard on my merry way, I ask, do any of you have any other ideas?  Or guarenteed fixes?  I know a guarentee is a hard thing to ask for, but I am desperate, my teachers are getting angry with me for not sending work, and I know this would help a lot of people.  Thank you to those who read through my whole spiel, and thank you to those who will help me!
[Ps, while I am somewhat of a noob, I know my way around a computer, so any help, or knowledge you could bestow upon me is awesome.  Especially DIY fixes.  (if your only advice is, don't buy a mac at Best Buy, don't bother commenting)]
    Macbook Pro
    15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009
Processor:  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Graphics:  NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
    Software:  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)

Once it is downloaded you need to restart the computer if it does not restart automatically. When it next starts up you should note a progress bar appearing below the Apple logo. When done the computer will restart once more. The new firmware should now be installed.

  • OS X Lion installer not starting correctly

    Hi,
I have a Late 2007 MacBook (2GB RAM, 2.20 GHz Core 2), and the Lion installer isn't running right.  I have OS X 10.6.8 so that is fine, but the odd thing is that whenever I try to run the installer, the dock expands to make room for the new app, but then shrinks again, and I get no error telling me that the program closed accidentally.  What is going on?
    Any help would be appreciated!

Check to see if the startup disk needs repairing before installing Lion.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, start up from your Mac install disc to make repairs.
Make sure your Mac can run Lion >  OS X Lion - Technical Specifications

Any suggestions (besides "wipe the drives and don't use RAID")?

    Dear Friends
I'm getting this same error ("... dependent dylib #1 could not be loaded") on a 2x3GHz quad-core Mac Pro with 17GB of memory. I'm installing on top of 10.6.8 on a two-drive, two-slice Apple software RAID.
I'm downloading the Lion installer for the third time today and will try for the umpteenth time to install it. I've used another internal drive, a bootable DVD, and a USB flash drive, all to no avail.
If anyone knows a solution that doesn't involve erasing my drives, I'd appreciate your sharing it.
(Before I had a kid I would've installed Lion the day it was released. But now I'm short on time and waited more than six months after its release before trying to install it on our production Mac so I wouldn't encounter such problems. Hehe. I installed Lion on the day of its release on our MacBook Pro and didn't have any problems.)

  • Why is the installer stuck on "Checking System Profile-"?

I'm trying to install Flash Catalyst Beta on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard).
The installer starts to work, but then it stops at the point where it checks the system profile (see attached screenshot). It doesn't seem to have crashed as the dock icon allows me to quit without force quitting the application.
I've tried it in my regular user account and the administrator account, but the behaviour is identical.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I appreciate all your efforts, but I¹ve just received my new copy of CS5, so
I¹ll be installing the final version.

Subject: Why is the installer stuck on "Checking System
    Profile…"?
    Thanks Gary.
I need to ask you a few questions and request you to perform some more steps
so that I can debug your problem.
    1. Have you modified any folder permissions, authorization setup using
Keychain Access utility (or any other tool)?
    2. Open a Terminal window, and run the command 'ls -l /tmp' and copy-paste
the output printed on your screen in your reply.
    3. Delete all files whose name start with 'asu' in your /tmp folder. Run the
command 'rm -rf /tmp/asu*'. Restart your machine.
    4. Launch the Flash Catalyst setup and check if installation proceeds
successfully. If it doesn't, proceed to the step below.
    5. Open the folder containing the Flash Catalyst setup. Browse to the
'packages' folder and rename the file 'install.sig' to 'update.sig'. Double
click and launch the Flash Catalyst setup. This will not install the
application but install the Adobe Application Manager. Let me know if you
see a small dialog with a progress bar. Rename back update.sig to
install.sig. Update us your observations. Continue to next step.
    6. Launch 'Disk Utility' app (from /Applications/Utilities). Select your OS
partition in the left panel and click on 'First Aid' tab on the top. Click
on the 'Repair Disk Permissions' button at the bottom.
    7. Again, launch the Flash Catalyst setup and check if installation proceeds
successfully. If it doesn't, proceed to the step below.
    8. Open a Terminal window and navigate to the directory containing the Flash
Catalyst setup. Run the command 'sudo Install.app/Contents/MacOS/Install'
and enter the password. Let me know if the installer launches and on
following the screen instructions do you still see the error screen or does
    the installation proceed successfully.
