Lion Is Not Responding - Help!!!

I'm running Lion on a MacBook Pro. It has been working great for the last week or so. Just yesterday, it has become non-responsive. Everything takes a minimum of two minutes to occur, even simply getting a drop down list to drop in the finder. Now it is worse. I get to the login screen, which takes a minute, I select the user and enter the password, and I get the pinwheel for about one minute, then goes back to the user selection for logging in.
I have seen suggestions to look at the activity monitor to see what is consuming the resources, but I simply can't get far enough to even launch an activity monitor. I have booted in a way that allowed me to repair permissions and repair the disk. All came up fine, but after reboot, the same problem. I can't even get logged on. I have tried suggestions using the Shift key when rebooting to try to get into safe mode, but it doesn't appear to get me into any form of safe mode.

I do have a firmware password. I get no chimes at all. From shutdown, it hit the power button and immediately hold down Cmd, Option, P and R. After a moment, a grey screen appears with the padlock and a text box for a password. The text box begins filling (I'm guessing with Ps and Rs, as I am still holding those keys down). No matter how long I hold the key combination, there are no chimes or restart. I can enter the correct password which takes me to an area where I can run the disk utility. I have run the utility several times, but that is beside the point. Based on what I am experiencing, the PRAM is not being reset through this process.

make sure your function keys are working ( try to push fn + f5 ) if you don't see anything, just re-install power management and try again.

System preferences in lion server not responding

Boot with your bootable backup/clone and restore it. If you don't have one, boot with your install disc and restore your Time Machine backup from some point in the past before the problem cropped up. Don't have one of those either? Then, boot with the install disc and reinstall Snow Leopard. That should restore all functionality without mucking with anything else. Then, run Software Update to get to something other than the 10.6 that your profile is showing, namely 10.6.4, the latest version, repair permissions, and restart.

FCP not responding, help!

Hi there,
I have some serious trouble. I am running FCP 5.1 and I cannot open my program. I have recently had low disc space, but have now freed up space on my start up disc, but still the program will not open. It starts to load but does not get any further than the title screen with serial number etc. Looking in the Activity monitor, it comes up red with a not responding message. I have tried restart and using Onyx to do maintenance on the system, but to no avail!
Suggestions? I have to deliver a DVD tomorrow so please let me know any and all thoughts on what I might try next!

went through apple support but no solution

Zen Micro Buttons not responding help!

Hey , My zen micro was working fine till today when I turn it on all my "digital" button are not responding , the only working button is the power on/off button, it syncs perfecly but I cant do anyhing with all the other buttons, I tried reinstalling the firmware but it still dosnt work , ant I cant reset it cause the buttons dont work .
any ideas ?

did you push ur buttons too hard? or squish it or anything? it's a TOUCH pad, so you shouldnt apply too much pressure on it, a good light tap will do it. Are you still under warrenty? call Creative and check it out.

Touch Screen not responding - help!!

The touch screen on my Galaxy S3 is not responding, I reset it to factory settings but it is still not working and now I can not set up the phone.. please help

Try this:
PRESS AND HOLD VOLUME UP + Home Button + Power
Turn the phone off
Press and hold Volume UP and Home (center) button
Press Power until the phone vibrates
Wait until you see the Android logo then release all the buttons
Select Wipe data/Factory reset with VOLUME DOWN, press Power (right hand-side)
Select YES...delete all user data with VOLUME DOWN and then Press Power
After format, press Power again to reboot the phone (select reboot system now)
If you are still unsure you should call VZW tech support.

Fan running at high when cpu not being used, Macbook not responding - Help!

Quite often now when I leave my macbook for an a few hours (the screen goes to sleep but not the computer), I come back to the fan running at full speed and then when I touch the trackpad, I can move the mouse around, but nothing responds (i.e. when I move the mouse over the dock, the dock doesn't pop up...and I can't click anything on the desktop). So I have to hold down the power button to shut it off and then restart the computer. Then it works fine, but if I leave it for a while and come back, half the time I come back I encounter this problem again.
Any help?

Check your activity monitor. Sounds like you have a program running in the back ground your not aware of.
You might also try to reset the SMC and/or PRAM.

Application windows do not respond - help please!

Hi everyone
At first I should say that I did search for this topic in search forum section but all of the cases related to freezing windows app. do not match my problem.
So recently something strange occurs: my app windows freezes (I mean I can't close them nor move them) while everything else works (app is responding) - I can quit it using dock. And when I open it again it appears in strange place like the edge of my screen. It happens with very simple apps like: Finder, Safari and iTunes.
The whole thing started the day before (I don't know if it could be related to this) I have installed cocktail - to clean my macbook and quicksilver.
things I tried: I verified and repaired permissions using Disk Utility. I have also verified Disk (it showed me minor error with disk header) and redpaired it using installation disks.
An the problem still occurs!

I have a similar problem, but for me the unresponsive application (iTunes is doing this as I write) cannot be quit using the dock. Initially, when it first became unresponsive, The arrow still appears under its dock icon to indicate it is there, but when I right-mouse the icon, it goes into the state as if the application was not running (no arrow). Right mouse shows "Open" as an option. I can see the app right there...
Activity monitor sees it and allows me to quit it (gracefully - no force quit required) then the app will launch and All is well... until another app exhibits this strange behavior. I have seen this happen to iTunes, Safari, and Finder most often.
At first I thought it had something to do with safari 3 beta, so I backed that out. Only other things I can think that have changed on my system since when it was in working state was Parallels Desktop 3.0 and the 10.4.10 upgrade. It has been misbehaving since June (through several security updates etc).

When I try to open it, it shows a little box that you can't maximize and if you try to close it it says ''the application is not responding'' help?

Hello, I really need your help. When I try to open firefox, nothing happens or it will open a really small and empty window in the top corner of my laptop. That window cannot be maximized and if I try to close it either nothing happens or it says that the program stopped working. I dezinstalled it and installed it again 3 times... I don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be appreciated!

Could you see whether Firefox will start in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
Here's how:
With Firefox closed, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Does that work?

IPhoto Version 8.1.2 is not responding, HELP!

I have two accounts on my Mac, my regular account and my Emergency account. I only got this MacBook last summer for Graduation and it is my college computer so it's really important for me to get it fixed. On my regular account I used iPhoto all the time and didn't use it much on the emergency account until recently. When I click on the iPhoto in my dock on my regular account in bounces in the dock and opens the window but it is just grey application window with the spinning rainbow beachball of death! When I go onto my Emergency account and use iPhoto was working fine but recently has been acting up as well.. I've given you a screenshot of my main account and what happens when I open iPhoto, that's all it does until I force quit the application and 'report the problem' to Mac but I have yet to have a response over the past 3 months!!
I tried everything I possibly know of - getting rid of the Alias in the dock, cleaning out the prefs folder, tried redoing the Applications disc that I got with my Mac, I'm not sure what else to do. PLEASE HELP!
I might end up having to take my Mac into the Apple store but I would really like to save the time and try to look for some answers on here! Thanks

Pentax K_5 11 and Elements 11 not responding: Help

I have just bought a Pentax K_5 11 and Photoshop Elements 11 which worked fine with the trial CS5 but now that the trial has finished I cannot access my photos. I cannot afford to update CS5. Is there a way around this as Elements 11 does not work now? I have XL on my computer. Can anyone tell me what I can do?

If using PEF files ensure the camera raw plug-in is up to date. From Expert Mode in PSE11 click:
Help >> Updates
Install camera raw 7.4 if available.
