Lion login always goes back with display mirroring on

I no longer can turn my display mirroring option OFF in system preference. Everytime I log off and log in, it changes the display mirroring option back to ON. How can I resolve this problem?

moderator disabled my other ID. Still no idea why it would not work. Only difference was a "w"

Hey.
I've set a personal Screensaver because I like it when a Slideshow will be shown on my screen while I'm not on the iMac.
For some reason my screensaver always goes back to the original National Geographics Pictures and I don't know why. I've been searching for this issue on the internet before and in some other forum they said that I have to delete the "screensaver" file from the Preferences Folder in the Libary. I don't have this file through.

And today it won't even read my camera's sd card, and I try with 2 different ones. If I restart the computer, leaving the memory card in, then it reads it; but if I pull it out and push it back in it doesn't see it. Whath am I doing wrong, if anything?

Where/how are you trying to change the name? If it is in Finder (after you've downloaded the pics to your desktop), highlight the pic icon and press Return. the name field will change and you can type in your new name. Hit Return again. That should make it "stick". If you're trying to do it elsewhere, please post the steps that you've tried.
As for your card: do you eject it properly? Either drag icon to trash or hit the eject symbol in the sidebar?

Music list in songs view always goes back to top...

In previous versions of iTunes, when swapping between playlists (or building them, for example), every time you went back to the music folder in the library, you get back to where you left off.
Now, it seems that if you switch out of the Music folder in iTunes 11, it "loses" its place, and always goes back to the top of the list. It's a pain to have to scroll down to where you were especially if there are several thousand songs to wade through) every time you switch in and out of the Music folder.
Is there a way to go back to where you left off, like in previous versions? I'm not sure using the column browser helps with this if you're building a playlist that spans artists and genres...

It seems to happen in all the other views as well. Very annoying. Please post if you find a solution for this!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

After watching a movie, it always goes back to my desktop.

When a TV show or movie finishes in iTunes on full-screen mode, it always goes back to my desktop instead of my iTunes library. Does anyone know how to change this?

Next time this happens, run Applications/Utilities/Console and see if any error messages are logged. If so, post them here

Mac OS X 10.7.4 ARD Issues When Observing/Controlling Computers with Display Mirroring/Different Resolutions

As if Macs in an enterprise environment could be more difficult to manage, now since our upgrade to OS X 10.7.(4) I have lost the ability to remotely control numerous Macs in our organization. The issue occurs when attempting to control a Mac running OS X 10.7.(4) that has their Display mirrored and the resolution does not match on both displays. What happens is that I can see the remote screen however it does not fill the entire Observe/Control window. Instead, the remote screen takes up about 50% of the window, the rest is black but sometimes will display a mirror image of the remote screen in the black area. What?! Yeah, I've attached a screenshot because this is ridiculous. The real problem is that I cannot control the computer when it has reached this state, the mouse no longer functions properly, it is not clicking where I place the mouse, etc. I have made sure that I have all updates including ARD Client/Server updates. I even tried VNC but as I have come to find out that is a whole other issue (doesn't work, sends me to the login screen, etc).
So here's what I need:
- A patch that is going to fix this issue
- A script to run that is going to change the remote screen resolution (I still have the ability to run remote scripts, etc. simply not Observe/Control)
Ideas?

I found a way to work around this issue. Not a fix but a work around.
This is little application some one wrote to toggle mirroring on and off.
Mirror Displays
If you put this application in the client computer's /Aplications folder
you can use ARD or SSH to run the app and switch modes.
The problem only occurs for me when a client is set to mirror dissimilar displays with different aspect ratios.
I am only seeing this in Lion 10.7.4 and 10.7.5

is there a way to disable FFox going to the top of the site after i use the back button?
If i am on a site and i click on a link then i use the back button, it always goes to the top of the screen or site, then i have to scroll all the way down again every time.

I also have had the same problem for months now. The updates do not fix the problem. Is there anyone out there with an answer?
Sometimes out of the blue I will click somewhere on the itunes store screen and it will stop doing it but, I can't repeat it the next time I open Itunes. It always just wants to stay scrolled all the way to the top on every itunes store page.

InDesign always goes back to Default settings

I cannot seem to get my settings to stay. If I have to force quit for any reason, the default settings always come back its is so frustrating. I also always have to open the tabs bar even though I check the tabs in the menu, every time I reopen the document, the tabs bar is gone....is this the norm? I am using Tiger, 10.4.11 on a G5 Powermac.

you must make your settings then quite not force quit. When you quit ID thats when the app writes the new settings as default when you force quit ID does not have the chance to save these settings. you must follow the prceedure in post 2.
If you can only force Quite ID there is something wrong with your computer.
first thing I would do is Archive and Install the OS.

login implies encryption, and encryption requires the date&time be within five minutes of perfect. ¿Is the date & Time set correctly?

Not sure what's going on with display.

I purchased a Big Bang Fuszon motherboard. I've been trying to get a nvidia geforce 8800gt to work.
Every time I load the driver, when it boots up in normal mode.
As soon as it boots into Windows, the screen goes black.
When I start into safe mode, and I check in the device manager. It's there:
The PCI device error, to my understanding is a lucid onboard device.
I even disabled it, and I still get the black screen.
I looked in setup, under integrated peripherals. And didn't see anything for it.
So I decided to look in the control panel. Low and behold, there they were.
Nvidia Control Panel and, Nvidia nView Desktop Manager:
The problem is in safe mode you can't access them. When I try to go into normal mode,
I get the black screen.
I'm told this can be done in Windows XP 64-bit edition.
You can't run the Hydra lucid stuff, but you can run SLI.
Has anybody been able to do this under Windows XP 64-bit edition?
If so, how did you do it?

I've got it now. I needed to run the setup exe, for 64 bit.
And let it overwrite about 12 dll files. I can only guess that it needed to revert back to XP.
I don't know if that was it or not, but the driver is loaded.

I did happen to find out, that one geforce gt 8800 is bad.
Now I'm thinking about upgrading display cards for a SLI setup.
I'm looking at the GTX 200 series, but I'm noticing some new cards.
The GTX 400 series. They have DDR 5, and DirectX 11. Which is a clear indication, it's for Windows 7.
I'm wondering, will the Big Bang Fuzion work with the GTX 400 series cards?

Did you updated from OSX Lion to Mountain Lion? And iPhoto was installed on your Mac? Then iPhoto and the Library must still be on your Mac.
Go to finder and slect 'Applications'. iPhoto must be in that folder. Open iPhoto. See what happens. Are all your pictures/events displayed?
If not, please reply and we will try to locate the iPhoto Library.

After latest security update Safari 5.1.9 (OSX 10.6.8) is not always going back to the preceeding page even the the URL is the correct page.

On several different occassions, I have hit the back button on Safari and it goes baack to a page several sites earlier. The URL displayed is the correct one (the one preceedin the page), but the page is not the one that the UL is saying it is - sometimes it is an entirely different domain. Any ideas anyone?

With Safari open, press Command + Option + E on your keyboard (empties the Safari cachee) then quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, empty the cache more often.
BTW, the Safari 5.1.10 update is available for download > Safari 5.1.10 for Snow Leopard
