Lion Macbook Air installation Issues - Won't Install

I sucessfully installed Lion on my iMac, then I downloaded it with my same user id from my macbook air (1.4ghz). I proceed with the installation, it claims to finish and then reboots. The Lion App store icon then sits on my dock and the computer is still running Snow Leopard at least it seems to be. However, when I go to about this mac it says 10.7.
This is a mistake since the machine is still physically running snow leopard, there is no mission control, no air drop, etc, AND the lion icon is still in my dock waiting to install!
I have repeated this process countless times and keep getting the same results.
Please help!

did you mean to say 'this problem has been SOLVED' ?
i'm having the same issue.... and always presumed the downloaded lion install was fine since it does image checking, etc.
either way.... i'll be giving it another download and try again

  • Adobe AIR Installer Crashes / Won't Install - 10.7.2

    I'm having significant trouble trying to get the Adobe AIR Installer to run on my 11-inch MacBook Air, running OS X Lion 10.7.2. I've tried the standard installation which said it completed properly but did not, and also tried installing from the command line.
    The Files.zip file at http://cl.ly/1f0C2k3x1R3f1B1j1q0V are the fitlered log file and the crash logs associated with this issue.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Yep, I tried installing Adobe Air on 10.7.2 multiple times. Console shows the installer crashing (below).
    Go to System Preferences > Energy Saver and uncheck "Automatic graphics switching" and it the install now works.
    It's just Adobe trying to get back at Apple - happens all the time.

  • Adobe AIR installation issue - hangs at "Installing..."

    Hello everyone!
    I know questions similar to this have been asked many times before, but I did not manage to find the solution to my problem after a few hours of reading and trying the various 'solutions' around the net and this forum. I apologise if I missed it.
    I cannot seem to install Adobe AIR. I run a freshly downloaded installation executable, but it hangs at "Installing..." and 0% progress for a very, very, very long time, if I let it. This last try has been going for 45 minutes as I write. The only way to get out of the installer is through Task Manager and killing the service, as hitting 'Cancel' just makes the installer attempt to cancel endlessly.
    I tried installing it in safe mode but there it gives an error saying I may not have administrative permissions (which I do have);
    I created a new user account;
    I "run as Administrator" and am using an account with administrative rights;
    I tried it through the command line with putting the file in c:\ and running "AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent" without quotes from c:\;
    I have shut off all my antivirus software;
    I tried downloading it with a different browser;
    I tried using the MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall, and took Adobe AIR off the list;
    I tried uninstalling all Adobe products and then reinstalling them, with Adobe AIR last
    ... and some more things, but none of this has helped. Here's what the installation log generates when it hangs:
    [2012-12-25:01:16:36] Runtime Installer begin with version 3.5.0.880 on Windows 7 x86

    I would much appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me regarding this! This is starting to drive me nuts.
    Thank you.
    ( also, this is my first post, so please forgive if I've done anything wrong or not according to etiquette! )

    Ok, I understand.  So before we continue, we really need to figure out what the exact error is.  Can you, on at least 2 systems, generate the MSI logs we'll need?  Here's a document that explains how to enable logging and where to find the logs once they've been created:
    How to enable Windows logging
    Once you've enabled logging, try installing again.  Grab the newly created msi logs and either post here or email me at [email protected]  I'll examine the logs and see if we can find a common issue between the systems.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I bought a second hand MacBook Air and it won't allow me to install updates as up pops the previous owners log in details. How do I go about amending this?

    The seller was remiss in not properly preparing the Mac for sale. That task has now fallen to you. You will encounter continual problems until you perform the following. Ignore references to DVD since the MacBook Air has none.
    If you are unable to do that contact the seller and request instructions, or arrange for its return and a refund of your costs.
    Refer to What to do before selling or giving away your Mac
    If you enabled FileVault, disable it in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
    "Deauthorize" your iTunes account. Same for Audible if you have one.
    System Preferences > iCloud > de-select "Back to My Mac" and "Find my Mac".
    Sign out of iCloud. Select "Delete from Mac" when it appears.
    Next: Remove all your personal information by completely erasing the Mac's internal storage.
    If your Mac shipped with a grey System Install DVD, start your Mac with that disc inserted in the optical drive while holding the c key to boot from it instead of its internal volume, which should be erased before selling it.
    If your Mac did not ship with discs, boot OS X Internet Recovery:
    using three fingers press and hold the following keys: ⌘(command), option, and R.
    With a fourth finger press the power button to turn on the Mac.
    Keep the other three fingers where they are until you see the "spinning globe" icon.
    This method forces the Mac to download its originally installed OS from Apple's servers, which will not require an Apple ID to install.
    Remove any Open Firmware password if you created one: select Firmware Password Utility from the Utilities menu and remove it.
    Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    Remove any partitions you may have created.
    Select the Mac's hard disk icon, then select the "Erase" tab.
    Select the "Security Options" button and erase the disk.
    The more "securely" you erase the disk, the longer it will take.
    The fastest method is sufficient since all but the most expensive techniques and equipment will be able to recover securely erased data.
    When it finishes, quit Disk Utility.
    Select Install Mac OS X from the Utilities menu.
    An Apple ID will not be required. If a prompt for an Apple ID appears, return to Step 5.
    Do not create any user accounts.
    When it finishes, shut down the computer.
    If you want to install the bundled apps that were included with your Mac, restart by using your Applications DVD if one was included, and install the bundled apps. Apps bundled with newer Macs that shipped without discs cannot be transferred. Its new owner must purchase them from the Mac App Store using his or her own Apple ID.
    If the Mac is being sold to someone outside the family consider the following additional information:
    System Install DVDs that came with your Mac should remain with it forever, and must be included with the sale.
    Consider including your AppleCare certificate if you bought it, printed documentation, even the box if you still have it. AppleCare stays with the equipment and is transferable.
    Execute a bill of sale showing the Mac's serial number.
    Once no longer in your possession, remove the Mac from your devices in My Support Profile.

    my macbook pro early 2012 won't install release version of yosemite after being in the beta test, anyone else having any issues with this?

    Received an email from apple saying thank you for being in the beta test and they tell you to download the release version from the mac app store and install it. Done this twice and it says installed successfully after rebooting twice and doing the usual install of a new OS. However when it boots up and opens your desktop it still has the Feedback assistant installed and continuity and all the new features do not work at all. Making me assume that the final release has not installed at all. Spoke to apple on the Phone and they Don't know how to solve it. Except for doing a fresh OS Install. Which i would rather not do, but might have too. currently backing up my Mac as we spec to do it

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    If your Mac has been installing software updates for a long time, Software Update is probably frozen. Hold the Power button until your MacBook Air turns off, and turn it on again. OS X should start up.

  • After installing Mountain lion, macbook air 2011 very slow

    After installation of Mountain lion my macbook air 2011 got very slow. There has been a firmware upgrade too. Can you help?

    Hi guys! Just installed ML on my early 2009 MBAir (after market upgraded to a 240g SSD, but still just 2g of ram), and I panicked a bit at first when it turned out to be painfully slow and not displaying right (+slow trackpad!).
    Bear in mind that the first thing ML will do is index your files for spotlight, which takes a while and is a bit of a resource hog that will slow everything else down and cause your machine to heat up.
    I let it work all night, but by morning, my CPU usage was STILL at 100% and everything slow...
    Activity monitor showed nothing over 10% CPU usage... First tip was to display ALL processes in Activity monitor, and not just MY processes, to see what exactly was sucking up my CPU!
    Then, and it seems to often be the culprit on MBA's, it turned out that the kernel_task process was using up to 170% of my CPU usage (!). Problem is, that process sort of does a million things, so it can be hard to pinpoint the actual issue.
    One of the things it does though, is work against overheating...
    Given the download+install+indexing, my machine had been working all day and night, and was indeed getting super hot. Turning it off and letting it cool down for a whole fixed it all.
    Kernel_task is back to normal, CPU usage is normal, display and trackpad are back to perfect. And in the end, ML is snappier than SL for me, even with the bare minimum in memory!
    Good luck! <3

  • Installing Arch on MacBook Air - EFI issues

    Hi, all.
    I have a mid-2012 13" Air and I want to install Arch on it as the only OS.
    Now, I've tried following guides on the wiki and in the forum, and I tried to install it with grub2-efi loader, but after numerous attempts I either got nothing, or got a system that had a big delay with the bootloader. There are two or three articles on the topic: GRUB2, MacBook guide and EFI guide, but no straightforward guide, just these three pages that crossreference each other in all the wrong places What is the best way to install Arch on a Mac?
    I understand that installing rEFIt can simplify things, but I want to find a way around it, since I'll only be using one OS, and I really dislike the Qt3 looks of rEFIt.
    Some articles say that LILO is simpler to setup that grub on an EFI machine - is that true?
    Furthermore, some discussions here mention that I should use archboot rather than the default installation image.
    So, could anyone please give me a simple list of steps?
    Last edited by ilembitov (2012-11-04 00:45:48)

    Hi,
    I'm using also Arch on a MacBook, but with rEFIt. Never tried to to remove OS X complete, because I want to have the chance to upgrade EFI and Firmware itself via Mac OS X Update.
    But for a clean grub_efi installation you have to create and mount an "efi partition" and install some boot files here. Check for detailed information those 2 wiki pages:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UEFI
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UEFI_Bootloaders
    Afterwards you can start with the grub installation.
    Simple Steps:
    create partitions on disk
    mount partitions
    Install arch system ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_Guide )
    prepare chroot environment
    jump into crhoot environment
    configure system
    configure grub2_efi (default files /etc/default/grub)
    prepare efi partition (dir and files)
    install grub2_efi
    That should it be...
    As I already said, never tried it without rEFIt, but its not simple, because Apple is not using a standard UEFI, so some futures won't work or will work differently. If I have some free time and money, I will try it on a second harddisk. That will be my next private project :-)
