Lion not available in App Store?

I just discovered that I could not update my late-2005 Mac Book Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Then, I discovered that I could not update to Lion, primarily due to the fact that Lion does not seem to be anywhere to be found in the App Store. Is this for real?

There are no Late 2005 MacBook Pros. If you're using a 2006 model, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, check that it has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM, and if it does, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion; it's hidden so that people don't buy it by mistake.

Install Yosemite instead of Mavericks. Or you can do the following if your computer supports Internet Recovery:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

If you purchased Mountain Lion as an upgrade, it will always be in your list under the Purchases tab of the App Store app. Click Download to reinstall it.

i just bought 10.8, somehow the english version, though i bought it on the germnan apple webstore. now app store tells me, this version is not available for download. it doesn`t offer a diffrent version. my apple id is not working on the us-app store either. so what can i do to get my version of mountain lion?

You can only buy from the App store of the country in which you are a resident, with a permanent billing address in that country and a credit card supported by a bank in that country.
Nor can you buy Snow Leopard 10.6.8. You can buy 10.6.3 under the conditions I mentioned above. That will then have to be software updated to 10.6.8.

AIM Messenger for iPhone not available in App Store India

I understand that the AIM Messenget is available in www.aim.com for iPhone but it is not available in the India app store. It is only available in the US and if I change store, it does not allow to download as my apple id is not good for the US app store.

Mountain Lion not downloading in App Store.

Hi guys,
I've read countless threads and tried everything but I still can't seem to download Mountain Lion from the App Store!
It's currently in my purchases, but pressing the download button does nothing whatsoever. When I click download from the actual Mountain Lion page, I get a small icon in my dock which either says 'waiting..' or 'downloading..'
When it says downloading, nothing seems to happen.. and in my purchases page there is no progress bar. In fact, in my purchases it still has the download button despire having a progress bar below the dock icon.
I've tried connecting via ethernet to download it. I've checked my Mac specs and they're all ok. I've tried restarting everything and cancelling the download.
Can anyone advise me?

Install option not available in App Store for some apps

Why is the option to install not available for some apps? The app info shows up but the install button is not there.

The button should read either the price of the App, or Free if they are free. Alternatively if you have purchased/downloaded the App in the past but deleted it from the device, it should have a button with a cloud icon.
Pressing it will initate download and installation.
Is none of this the case?

Hi. I purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store sometime last year, but for some reason that I can't remember, didn't install it. It might have been because I read somewhere that although it was a little quicker than Lion, it was also less secure.
Anyway, Mavericks was introduced and I downloaded that instead.
By some reckoning, my MacBook is a bit light on in memory (2GB) for Maverick to function at its best. Some time after installing Maverick, I tried to download Mountain Lion from the App Store but it wouldn't let me. Is there any way I can get the OS which, after all, I have paid for?

I'm using Mavericks. There are some things I like about Mavericks, but there has been a distinct performance drop since installing it on both my iMac and laptop. I don't like the new Pages and the latest Yosemite-compatible version of Pages seems to bring no improvements in word-processing matters and, if anything, looks even worse (I installed Yosemite just to see if the new Pages was worth having, since I use Pages a lot for my dissertation and other things).
So, I don't need Yosemite for the new Pages, and am going back at least to Mavericks but preferably to Mountain Lion. Lion was my favorite upgrade, but Mountain Lion, which I purchased but didn't download, I haven't tried.
It downloads onto my Macbook, but when I try to install it I get messages indicating the version is too new or simply that I can't install onto this computer. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact message. I will try to install it again by other means and let you all know how it goes.

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year. Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases. Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.

Open the App Store then click Purchases at the top of the window.
Click either Install or Download.

So you need to upgrade to Snow Leoapard first so you can access the Mac App Store in order to download Lion.
