I just upgraded to lion on my intel macbook.  I would like to change my facetime alert to something different than a phone ring and, I would like to be able to have full screen.  How do I do this?

    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • MSI 915GM-FR Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Yes, because of recent turbulence   considering some of the ram I recently bought, I am looking for different Ram that is compatible with this board:      MSI 915GM-FR Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
I know that some places it says that the voltage is 2.5, but could I push it a bit with 2.6  ?  because I really dont want to buy a no-name brand for what I want.  However, if not, thats the way it is...

Most boards have the DDR voltage set to 2.6V I believed. So if you put in a 2.5V rated DDR, it will still work. Undervoltage may not. You can always refer to MSI Test Report on DDR http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_trp_detail.php?UID=606
but those are not complete list.

  • How can I get lion on my intel mac

How do I get a copy of Lion for my intel power mac?

No PowerMac has Intel CPU on it.   If it is a G5 it is a CPU made by IBM, not Intel.  If it is G4, it is made by Motorola, and G3 is made by IBM.     10.7 will not run on any PowerMac.    Neither will 10.6.  Apple's transition to Intel was even more confusing for various Intel models:
    1. iMac, read the EMC# on the bottom of the foot of the iMac.  If it is it is white plastic with a right side of LCD loading optical drive, they will have an EMC# on the base which is enumerated 2104, 2105, 2110, 2114, 2118, 2111, 2133, or 2134 if they are Intel.  Otherwise they are PowerMac G5 if everything else is the same.
    2. Mac Mini, will have at minimum 4 USB ports on the rear if they are Intel.  Otherwise they are PowerMac.
    3. Mac Pro (Intel) has a cheesegrater case with two optical drive bays (not necessarily both being filled with a drive).  PowerMac G5s only have one bay.
    4. MacBook labelled below the screen is Intel.  Powerbook and iBook are PowerMac.
    5. eMac is PowerMac only.

  • Upgrade to Lion if running Intel Core Duo?

I have a MacBook with the Intel Core Duo (not the Intel Core 2 Duo).  I started to upgrade to Lion and Step 1 says to make sure your Mac can run Lion.  The Intel Core Duo is not mentioned.  Does any one know if Lion can be installed at all?  I have had a Mobile Me account for about 8 years and I am trying to transition to iCloud.  What's a person suppose to do?
    Thanks!

    Lion needs Core2Duo.
You need to buy new equipment.
    Sorry.

  • Can I upgrade to Lion with an Intel iMac with 1 GB RAM. I am getting conflicting info (from Apple advisors) whether I need 2GB -which I can do by adding 1, or 3 -which apparently I can't do. Anybody successful in upgrading to Lion with 1 or 2 GB Ram?

I am getting conflicting info (from Apple folks) whether I can upgrade to Lion with 1 GB Ram. Some are saying I need 2 (which I can do by adding memory) - or 3 (which I'm not sure I can do). Anyone running Lion with 1 GB? 2? I am at Leopard 10.5.8 to run some recording mixer which the company (Alesis) told me they weren't going to support drivers to Lion, but I guess they changed their minds. Am I clear on this? thanks.

The hardware requirements for Lion are an intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB RAM.
I wouldn't even both trying with 1GB, and even with 2GB Lion may struggle. If you intend to upgrade to Lion, can I suggest you max out your RAM. RAM is cheap at the moment.
Which model mac mini do you have?

  • Swap intel motherboard with amd one?

I have an HP dv6-1230us. It originally came with an intel motherboard with a core 2 duo cpu. I would like to change it to an amd one because I like amd's integrated graphics better than Intel's (and it is a relatively cheaper upgrade than buying a new gaming machine). I know that HP made AMD-based laptops in the dv6-1000 line, and from pictures I have seen on eBay, the shape and location of most of the ports is the same. I was wondering if it would be possible to swap my Intel motherboard with an
    AMD one?
    Thanks.

Yes. I wouldn't recommend the change, but you can do it.

  • Putting intel motherboard into a G5 20" imac

can an intel motherboard etc. be put into a G5 20" imac

You could run some type of screen sharing software on the two macs.  You would have to set up the mini for screen sharing.

    Hi,

Click on compatible products and see the CPUs compatible with this chipset. Unfortunately Pentium 4 is not compatible.

  • MSI Z77MA-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard z77 please help me

So i just got my MSI Z77MA-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard z77  slotted it all together all seemed fine untill it wouldn't recognize my hard drive. I currently dont have a dvd drive at the moment so i put all the files of the win7 and msi drivers on the same 8gb stick. When i search for storage intel and see compatible drivers it sees one in RAID which i install but nothing else seems to happen. Ive been in bios and switched it from ahci raid and ide, that ahci etc one and Raid appear to be the same out come ie no harddrive visable. IDE doesnt even load it gets to starting windows logo then black screen and yes a i checked the harddrive is on the bottom sata1. Is my motherboard just defective or is there anything else to try. Sorry i have no other computer to use other than my laptop hopefully get a dvd drive soon (in the post) and hopefully a ssd to see if its the harddrive but i dont think that will make much difference. Cheers for any advise

So now everything seems to be working fine, but when you are in windows, if you leave the computer at idle it crashes?
For now, go into uefi bios and hit f6 for optimized defaults.
    Hit f10 save and exit.
Once you have entered the os, open cpuz and post screen shots of the spd tabs of each memory stick installed and the memory tab. (You can open multiple instances of cpuz and take 1 screen shot.)
*When you do this the bios will default to achi mode remember.

  • MY COMPUTER WILL NOT DOWNLOAD MOUNTAIN LION.  2006 INTEL BASE COMPUTER.  MY UNDERSTANDING I CAN STILL DOWNLOAD LION.  SITE SAID UNABLE DOWNLOAD IN USA. ADVISE

Unable to download mountain lion.  Talking to a  apple rep I understand I can download lion.  2006 intel mac desk top (snow leopard). It may not be worth the effort. The plan was to download mountain lion.  (Unable to download lion.  Not available in the USA.)   Any advise   would be welcome

Likewise, I compute w/Snow Leopard and play with the last two cats. http://www.macintouch.com/reviews/mountainlion/ covers it well (also apropos for Lion):
It's all about making your Mac and your iPhone and iPad work better together. If you haven't embraced iOS, Apple's touch-based iPhone/iPad operating system, there are some nice enhancements for the Mac itself but little that is groundbreaking.

  • MSI GX660R with intel motherboard and compatibility with Samsung 840 EVO SSD

    Hi
Im am new to this forum, so I apologize in advance if this post is in the wrong section.
I am considering to replace the hard drive in my MSI GX660R with a Samsung 840 EVO 250 gb ssd, since it has the best benchmark ratings and are very afordable. My laptop has an Intel motherboard with an i7 core processor.
My question in relation to the upgrade is, whether the laptop is compatible with that excact ssd. I plan to run it in AHCI mode, since I have bad expirience with loss of data under RAID. If i chose to run the extra HDD as a secondary drive, it will therefore still be under AHCI.
Can anyone refer me to some sort of compatibility list, or tell me if the above mentioned drive is compatible? I havent been able to find out myself, and MSI is farily difficult to get in contact with.
    Any help is appreciated.

Yes, your early 2013 Retina model uses 6.0 Gbps SATA but it's not a standard mSATA connection. You could upgrade using Transcend's JetFlash -> http://www.transcend-info.com/apple/jetdrive/ - to space up to 960GB, however.

  • ? migrating from Logic 8 on Mac G5 to Logic 9.1 Mountain Lion on new Intel Mac

I'm migrating from a non-Intel Mac G5 PPC  with retail Logic Pro 7 installed and also the upgrade to Logic 8.
What is the best way to install Logic on my newly acquired July 2011 Quad-Core Mac Mini Server ( MMS ) ?
I have the original install disks for Logic Pro 7 retail and also the upgrade disks for Logic Studio 8 Upgrade Box retail.
Can I install Logic Pro 7 first onto the MMS and then install the Logic 8 disk and then install the Box set Logic Studio 9 upgrade ?

An important piece of information is required.
What version of OSX is on the 2011 Mac-Mini?
If it's Snow Leopard you're probably ok, if any version of Lion or ML is installed you're in for some work.
