Lion on macbook 5.2??
Will Lion, and all the features including gestures work on my macbook? I've had my macbook since late sep/early oct 2009. I've a built in track pad with the bar at the bottom.
Any help gratefully received!
Some things seem to work very good like two finger scroll and swipe, but we used to do that with Snow Leopard already. I do not think it is fair that I bought my Macbook in September 2009 and I cannot use OS X Lion to the full. I think missing the three finger swipe is missing a very important part of Lion. It becomes annoying to make apps full screen and connot swipe between them.

Is there something simple in the set up of these that i am missing?

I upgraded to Mountain Lion on Macbook Pro today which I bought new three weeks ago, on the upgrade my Ethernet connection is no working, Any ideas on a fix on this issue.

If you bought the MBP new 3 weeks ago, it should have come with Mountain Lion already installed. Did you update your MBP to the newly released 10.8.4 update? If not, what OS were you running before the upgrade, and what version of Mountain Lion do you have now? -

RobertApple figures that having supported PowerPC code for the last 6 years is enough so they dropped it.
Why should they have to support some that old forever? It doesn't make good business sense to support some that so few will use.
If you must play those games, my suggestion is to get an older Mac that will support PowerPC. It is going to be a difficult task to get Snow Leopard to run on a new Mac.

Is it possible to reinstall Mac OS X Lion on MacBook and then use Time Machine to restore to the previous backup I made before reinstalling Mac OS X Lion?
My MacBook was not normally booting up. It would turn on, make the Apple startup noise, and the bottom loading bar would progress just a little bit, then my MacBook would shut down. I tried rebooting it many times and the same thing would happen, it would just shut down. Then, I read that I can reset the PRAM (by holding Option+Command+P+R after the Apple startup noise comes). That worked, but now I get a screen that asks me to choose one of the 4 options (see: http://images.macworld.com/images/article/2012/07/lionrecoveryutilities-289404.j pg). I choose Restore From Time Machine Backup, but it progresses to 17.6% and gets stuck there forever. I tried doing it again, and it got stuck at 17.6% again. That is why I am asking if I should just reinstall Lion, then restore a previous backup on the fresh new Lion?

My thanks to you and all other respondents. In backing up "theVault" App I thought that my ancient version of Stuffit was inadequate to unzip the backup file. I attempted to download the latest Zipit version which only works with Lion. After upgrading to Stuffit 9 I realized that theVault backup file was encrypted so as to not open on the backup Mac. One must restore to the iPhone where is does open.
My apologies for the imprecise post. I am finding limitations with not being able to install Lion on my early MacBook Pro. I can recommend theVault to those looking for a password App with secure backup. -

plz helpYou need to set up an Apple App Store account in order to be able to dowload software from the App Store. An App Store account requires an Apple Id (normally this is your email address). If you don't have one you can set one up. Note this is the same id you use for iTunes so if you have an iTunes account use those credentials.
If you have a new MBA 2011 (i.e. one bought after about July this year) it will already be running Lion. To make sure go to the Apple menu (top left corner of screen) and select About this Mac. If the version of Mac OS X shown is 10.7 then that is Lion.

Since upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro is super slow connecting to Wi-Fi (seems to search forever). This is not the case with my Daughter's MacBook (still on Snow Leopard) or my Wife's Dell (Windows 7). Any ideas?

Note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t post huge amounts. hey guys, I want to reinstall mountain lion on macbook retina. I've been having some bugs so want to see if a clean install would help. My hard disk is partitioned though.. I have a windows 7 boot camp partition, so would a reinstall of mountain lion delete or affect in any way my windows 7 partition ?
what are the steps to reinstalling mountain lion ? My macbook retina originally came with version 10.8 . I'm guessing all of my programs/apps on mountain lion would be deleted with a fresh install ?It should not. A backup is always a safe precaution though.
