In your transition to SEE you do not mention transfering a history of investments. This is an area where many of us
have been left out. Did you transfer a long history (10 years +) of accounts with activity to SEE?

Quicken Essential does not support investment tracking. I have over 15 years of checkbook, stock/fund investments and Quicken 2007 tracks all my costs, gains, lots and exports that data to TurboTax at Tax time for my schedule D. Spreadsheet Solutions don't support bill pay as Quicken 2007 does. I simply enter the transaction into my quicken register, enter SEND instead of a check number and Quicken transmits the payment request to my bank. No double entry and no requirement to use my bank's web bill pay.
I can draw a net worth chart going back to the early 1990s because ALL my accounts and assets have been tracked since then in Quicken version up to 2007. Unfortunately, I'm held hostage by their database format. I don't know of any management tool that completely accepts a transfer of all my Quicken data.

Anyone know if it is true that if you upgrade from SL 10.6 to Lion 10.7 you no longer can use Quicken for Mac 2007? I saw that here:

There is not nor will not be any updated versions of Quicken for Mac.
You can run Quicken for PCs on Bootcamp or in Windows on your Mac as a virtual machine. But, if you want to get away from using Windows?
This alone would stop me from updating to Lion but, eventually I’ll need to update the Mac OS. (New computer, need a future feature, etc.)
It would be nice to find an alternative to Quicken or another solution.

Quicken Essentials 2010 has less features than Quciken 2007. Keeping track of investments is one feature I need and Quicken Essentials does not include that function. I may have to consider others financial software, such as iBank4, Money4, iFinance, and Money Well.

OSX 10.9.4 and Quicken 2007

I am running 10.9.4 on a new mac and wanted to install my Quicken 2007 but when I insert the disk it says it does not support power pc programs. However, I have seen posts that Quicken 2007 runs fine on 10.9.4? What do I do now?

I use it an find it very good. It isn't as complete as the PC version, however.
There'e a new Quicken app for Macs that is available. However, it doesn't have online bill pay at this time which is why I haven't tried it. I did run the beta app for a short time. The GUI differences between the 2007 and new versions was different enough that it made for a steep learning curve, IMO.

Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

Yes. Snow Leopard includes Rosetta, which will allow Office 2004 and Quicken 2007 to run. Office 2008 and 2011 are Intel native and will also run under SL.

Since I really needed my quicken, I had the apple genius bar wiped out my hard drive and I reinstalled my last update prior to going to Lion 10.7 on my external le cie hard drive to my wiped out macbook hard drive. Now I am back to Snow Leopard with my intact quicken program. I am reviewing quicken essential vs ibank. I keep track of my transactions with my mutual funds. Any suggestion which is better to use or should I wait for an software update that will allow quicken 2007 for mac to be compatable with Lion OS X?

Quicken 2007 (either version) will ONLY accept data from Quicken 2006 or 2007. For you, as a Quicken 2005 user, you must obtain a copy of the PowerPC version of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 and that program will convert your Quicken 2005 data file to one that will open in Quicken 2007 for Lion.
Intuit, which formerly used to provide copies of Quicken 2006 or 2007 (PPC) for such purposes has gone MIA (consistent with OldMacFan's observation that Intuit does not want you to find the $15 upgrade page either! To find that link - I always have to Google "CNET Quicken 2007 for Lion" and in the first listed result, Topher Kessler's review of the program for CNET has the link!)
Consequently, go to this blog and post a comment for Ferd to send you a copy of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 (PPC) and when you receive it, you must run it on a Mac that supports Rosetta and PPC software:

Corrupt Data File Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion)

Bought QM 2007 for Mac (Lion compatible) and without touching my personal data file, opened a new file and immediately got the "...corrupt data in data file" message. I've tried everything I could find including: trashing the Quotes file, my old Quicken 2006 app, removing any 3vix files, intuit preferences, etc. Nothing helped. I then ran QM2007 on Snow Leopard with my old data file, and after trashing the Quotes file, it worked. So I saved this file and transfered it to my Lion machine, trashed the quotes file. Same error, ...data corrupted. Thinking it's my Lion machine, I opened it in Safe mode...no help. Created a new account...no help. Imported .qif file..no help. I've searched the Quicken forum...no help. I'm very desparate; anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Baltwo. I'm convinced it's something about my Lion installation that's the cause, since others as yourself seem to be OK—although I haven't been able to run it down. The Quicken 2007 is a fresh installation, each time I try out a new approach, I reinstall the software. Now perhaps it's accumulating some ancillary file that doesn't get trashed, but I can't run that down. I did find something interesting in my systematic search for a cause, and that is that when i install it on my Snow Leopard machine, it works fine with a new, unpopulated data file. But if I re-index my Q 2006 file, trash my Quotes file, then import it into QM 2007, the "corrupt data error" comes up. So I know everything (the QM 2007-Lion) works in Snow Leopard without prior re-indexing the data file, just not in Lion. So I saved my data file that worked in the Snow Leopard version (so it's now a QM 2007-Lion file), try to open it on my Lion machine with a new QM 2007-Lion install, and the corrupt data error appears. As I said above, opening in Safe mode, creating a new account, running my disk through Disk Utility and fixing permissions, nothing has worked so far.
So I bit the bullet and created a Snow Leopard virtual machine (Server version) with my Parallels, and it finally works, including downloading my investment, credit card, etc. accounts. Now I can move on with my taxes, but I'm still perplexed why Lion won't let me run it. I don't like my SL VM because Parallels won't permit coherence, so it's kind of kludgy.
That's my story after many hours of troubleshooting. I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Thanks for trying to help.

I'm using a beloved MacBook Pro laptop running Lion.I cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have been using Quicken and have accummulated 13 years of financial data. I need a new MacBook Pro laptop and would like to know if my Quicken data can be transferred to the new laptop and whether or not the revised Quicken 2007 is compatible with Mountain Lion. Unfortunately, you will need to find a different application; you can't continue to use an app that is not compatible. Or, you can revert back to your Snow Leopard clone (you did back up your SL install before upgrading?) in order to run Quicken. You could have two partitions on your hard drive - one for SL and one for Lion.

Create a copy of your current Quicken for Mac data file.
Important: You'll want to use the copy for the conversion. Do not use your original data file.
Launch the Quicken File Exchange Utility (it's located on your Quicken Essentials disk).
Follow the on-screen instructions to locate the copy of your old data file and then convert your data from Quicken for Mac to Quicken Essentials.
Open Quicken Essentials.
If you want to import your old data into a new Quicken Essentials data file that you’ve already started using (optional), make sure that the new data file is now open in Quicken Essentials.
Choose File > Import, and then select the file that you just created during the conversion process.
The conversion file has a .QDFX extension. You’ll find it in the same folder as the copy of your old Quicken for Mac file.

OL-290 Quicken 2007 Lion Bill Pay

How do I disable Bill Pay in Quicken 2007 Lion and then reactivate?
Every time I try to pay bills through bill pay on Quicken 2007 Lion, I get error message OL-290, which is an SSL server error.
I've spoken to Quicken several times and they say they're aware of the problem and are working on it. However, it's been
almost a week since the service went down. I seem to remember this happening before and I was instructed to disable my
bill pay account, restart Quicken, reenable the bill pay account and things seemed to work afterwards. Unfortunately, I
can't remember how to do the disable/enable dance. Anyone out there know how to do this?

I get the same response when trying to use Quicken Bill Pay to pay bills. I contacted Quicken Bill Pay about it and all they would say is that they knew about the server problems and were working on it. You might call them and also bug them about the issue. See if that have anything more up to date to add.
