Lion OSx v10.7.3 WiFi Issues

Hi,
Am facing issue with my Wifi on my iMac which is running on Lion v10.7.3 OSx. The Wifi connection goes off and on, but at the same time, am not facing any WiFi issues with MacBook Pro running on Lion v10.7.3, iPhone and iPad2.
I have came across many posts stating that there is issue with Wifi connectivity with iMac's, but not able to come across any solutions.
Can any seniors in this forum provide the solution.

For some reason Network no longer automatically connects to my WiFi at startup. Now I must select my WiFi network every restart. Maybe result of upgrade to 10.7.3?

  • In the latest Lion update, has the dropping WiFi issue really truly been totally fixed?

Anyone still seeing the wifi dropping off, out of the blue, for no reason, issue as was the haunting problem in previous Lion releases?
For those that had the dropping off issue (and there were many).
Did this last Lion release/update really really absolutely totally fix the issue for everyone?
    Totally? Completely? Honestly?

I have updated two machines directly to 10.7.2 and have had no issues with either machine.
Are you sure these problems are not as a result of the wireless router used rather than a Lion problem?
I have seen many wireless faults in the past caused by the routers which have been fixed by updating the router firmware.
Maybe those who are posting wireless problems need to also state the make and model of router they are using to see if a pattern emerges?

  • Mac osx 10.9 Mavericks wifi issue

Ok so Wifi is really starting to annoy now....
I have a 2013 Mac Air (about 1 month old). I upgraded to mavericks and now EVERYTIME the machine goes to sleep, i close the lid, whatever the wifi connection is shut down and on logging in again, the wifi doesn't connect. I have to manually turn off wifi and then turn on again before selecting my network (and usually needs 2 attempts).
    This is unacceptable.
Does anybody else suffer from this issue? any ideas on how to fix it (other than reverting back to MLion - if that's even possible)
Thanks in advance for any responses
    Kind Regards
    Supersleb

Test after taking each of the following steps. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. In some cases, the problem has been resolved by repairing permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Reinstall OS X.

  • Mac OSX 10.9.4 Wifi issue & crash

    Hi Communities,
I have been using my mid-2009 Macbook perfectly until I decided to install a new SSD for this mac. After a clean installation, the Mac's wifi had gone crazy, I looked over our forum but whatever method I tried didn't work (turn off Bluetooth, delete files in Configuration, fresh installation, etc)
So, I decided to leave the Airport alone and bought a USB wifi receiver. It works really well and sometime, it could activate the Airport wifi for few minutes (but just few minutes won't be helpful so I keep Airport wifi OFF)
However, the crash always happens whenever I want to upload pictures to my Flickr or watch Youtube videos. Here's the Crash report

It's quite annoying because I can't use the Airport wifi, but I know it's still working for sure; there might just be something wrong with the CONFIGURATION
It' getting even worse when I keep facing the GREY SCREEN like in PC.
Really, I just want to get my Wifi back and never see that GREY SCREEN again
    Please help

The brand name may be different, but the software, or the device, is causing the panics. I suggest you either get the built-in Wi-Fi fixed or consider buying a new computer. If you don't want to do either of those, try another USB Wi-Fi device.

  • Probleme wifi lion OSX

    Hello,
I read on several forums that lion OSX had problems with wifi connection.
I still hesitate to invest in OSX lion because of these problems.
I wonder if these problems are solved before investing in OSX Lion ...
Excuse my English, I'm french ...
    cordiall

Hello, the only problem I had with WI-FI on Lion is when I restart the computer, or when I put it to sleep. The "problem" is that Lion will "see" your default WI-FI in about 30 seconds or so. If you want this to be quicker, you just have to click on the WI-FI icon and choose a specific network.
If you have a laptop, other thing should be important to you when jumping to Lion:
a smaller battery authonomy (from up to 4 hours with Snow Leopard, now I only have 2:30 hours with Lion)
the system is not as responsive as it was before update (for example I have to wait between 6 to 10 seconds in order to see the widgets).
I have to mention I do not have a SSD HDD. If you have a SSD it should not be a problem...

  • Cisco VPN not working with Lion OSX 10.7

Cisco VPN Client Application did not launch after upgrading to Lion OSX v10.7.
I read https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3192535 that suggested rebooting in with a 32bit kernal.
Hold down the '3' and the '2' keys while rebooting to reboot in 32bit mode.
I did this and now my existing Cisco VPN works fine.

Cisco VPN Client & OSX Lion
I have been successfully using the built in Mac OS X IPSec client on Lion 10.7.2 for a couple months now. I have no need for the Cisco IPSec client anymore and to boot into stupid 32-bit mode .
Not sure if the issues you guys are having but I followed this guide and it works perfectly. Most of my customers I only have a .pcf file for, which of course, I cannot use to figure out the groupname and password....until now...

I don't know if this will help with SonicWall but my problem for the ASA is solved.

  • I have the following problem: "no se pueden descargar los componentes adicionales necesarios para instalar mac os x" How I can install LION OSX from a hard storage (HD, PenDrive)?

After more than 10 times i have the folowwing error "no se pueden descargar los componentes adicionales necesarios para instalar mac os x" when I try to REINSTALL LION OSX to faftory reset while WiFi. I try in 3 differents routers and nathing change. Can I install from a hard copy in a DVD, HD, PenDrive?? Can I download LION OSX and install without WiFi?
My MacBook Air is new one, come with LION but I want to reset to factory default, but I can't.
    Thanks.

  • Wifi problem with the Lion OSX

Like many others i am facing the problem of connectivity with the Lion OSX. In my room i have 2 macbook pro, one running on Lion and the other on Leopard. The problem arises with the wifi. The one with the Lion seem to get a stronger signal when both of them are placed side by side but drops out quickly. This does not happen with the MBP running on leopard.
I have tried turning on and off the wifi. It does not help. At times it gets connected but nothing comes on. Other times it shows the "the connection timeout" error.
I do hope that Apple solves the problem soon as it is clearly a OS related problem.
    Eagerly waiting for the update.

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • Firefox 18 no longer works with Mac OSX v10.8.2 Mountain Lion

I have been running FireFox v17 with Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8.2) without any issues.
The auto updater from Mozilla requested that I upgrade to FireFox v18, but since installing Mozilla FireFox crashes immediately.
The browser opens but then does nothing. If you enter a URL and enter then nothing happens. It just shows a continuos blank screen.
I wanted to make other Mountain Lion users aware of this problem and wondered if anybody else has had this problem? Please Mozilla, check this bug and offer an update and solution.
I'm using Chrome in the interim, which I really do not like as a developer.

    Hi cor-el,
    Thanks for your advice.
I had already carried out the re-install and restarted the iMac etc.
This has not fixed the issue. When I start Firefox it opens fine but if I type in a URL and press enter then it does nothing. It is as though FF is dead!
I have repeated the steps, exactly as you suggested again, and nothing has changed?
This has never happened before? So I need to continue using Chrome, which I hate, until another solution is found.
    Thank you and regards,
    Sean.

  • Mountain lion osx wifi keeps turning to "off" setting by itself.

Mountain lion osx wifi keeps turning to the "off" setting by itself and when I try to turn it back on again it doesn't change from "off" to "on" Any ideas about whats wrong? The only way I can solve it is by restarting the macbook.
    I have a macbook pro
2.53 ghz intel core 2 duo
    8gb memory

You are running a pretty old version of the OS if your information is correct above and there have been quite a few improvements to the WiFi systems in recent releases.
You may want to try to reinstall the OS. If that does not work you may consider upgrading the OS.

  • Mountain Lion and Lion wifi issues

Don't start on me about there being multiple threads on that subject already.  I was told by a very respected member of these forums to start my own thread on the issue.
Dropping wifi started with Lion and for the last 10 months with ML.  I've been in touch with Apple, they called me after reading my old post and had me run test for them with no help.  I've done completely clean installs on newly reformatted hard drive and using a USB drive to install ML.  It won't connect to wifi to finish install half the time so other software isn't the issue.
I've tried just about every fix posted.  A lot of them with Apple on the phone.  I've replaced my router knowing that wouldn't fix it because I take my Mac with me and it drops wifi on any router or network.
I have 2 Macs and only one has ever had this issue.
You don't have to believe I've tried everything, that I've had Apple call me or that I even have the issue.
I've been asked to post the names of the engineers that have contacted me.  Why would you need to know that in order to believe me, especially if you admit to not knowing any.
All I want to know is there a fix?  Yes/No
Remember it doesn't want to connect on a clean install.
    P.S.:
For all those looking for reason's not to help me, my dog is yawning in the picture not growling.  Yes I've gotten mad on other threads but how many times can you be called a liar just because their fixes didn't work for me or I won't post engineers names.

    Thanks for that list.
Out of all you posted I tried everything with Apple on the phone.
I'm the only one who uses this Mac and I constantly check my settings incase something was changed on it's own because of some app.  But I'll lock it after retrying everything over again.
I'll be glad to get it down to once every few days again. I haven't complaned about it in a long time because I could live with that.  That's where I was before it went back to dropping constantly. Lets face it once a day would be great.  I've had to reboot just trying to reply.
I've started taking some live on line courses so it's not just an announce to me.  It started again before I started classes.
The 10.8.3 update made it worse.  But not enough to go back to 10.8.2.
My mail program is affected the worst.  When wifi drops and Mail is running I always have to force quit.  I know that's an affect no the cause.
I do have another Genius Bar appointment for that and a couple of other issues.  The first time they denied there were any wifi issues until I gave them the names of the engineers that called me with their email addresses and phone numbers.  I've since lost their phone numbers but still have their email addresses.  I know one was a CA area code and the Main one was from TX.  I have emailed them this week but still no reply.
Like I said once it went down to dropping every few days I didn't care any more.
I'll keep you up to date.

  • Fix for Wifi issues in Mountain Lion

I've tried all the solutions on the forums that I could find and none of these fixed my wifi issues.  This however did:
    - Change the SSID of your wireless network.
I'm pretty sure I had a similar issue with Lion and sorted it by deleting all the preference files like others have said, but it didn't work for me this time.  I'm convinced that the common issue is that it's a corrupt or duplicate config.
Anyway, I thought I'd post this to help others.

    UPDATE
A week or so ago my wifi suddenly stopped working again on both my Macbook and Mac Mini.  Note that my PC, iPad and iPhone continue to work.
I've changed my SSID twice now and this time I was determined to figure out an alternative solution.  Again I tried every solution I could find, this time what worked is chagning my router to only broadcast on the 'N' wireless band.
This has fixed it however it's not a great solution as my wireless printer is 'G' only.  Until Apple resolve this issue I'm happy to print with a network cable if it means my Macs work.

  • Mac OSX lion does not connect to wifi automatically

    Hi there
My mac osx lion does not connct to wifi automatically , or when i open the lid it doesn't connect either...
could you please help me with this problem?

    Bump
is there anyone else with a Mountain Lion Mac and a TP-Link TL-WDR4300? I am almost sure that it's this combination that doesn't work. All other devices I have (Apple and non-Apple) can work perfectly on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, but the settings on the WiFi adapter on the Mac are the same for all Wireless networks, so I just don't get why it would work on 5Ghz but not on 2.4Ghz...
    Thank you

  • Mountain lion wifi issue

Ok. This is super frustrating. Its been three generations now since this wifi issue. I have mid 2010 MBP with broadcom drivers. The wifi wont pass traffic with cisco APs. The only fix is disable 11n rates then only it will connect. I had to downgrade the driver to 10.61 etc to fix that issue. Today i upgraded to mountain lion and surprise.... My wifi is pretty much useless... Pings to default gateway are pn an avg 4ms and good minutes of ping losses..
This is just not acceptable. This is stupid and lame and apple nees to fix this pronto..
Geez apple is making billions of revenue and freaking cannot fix a stupid driver issue... I want my money back... And above all give me my time back which i spent to tshoot this problem...

This is on Mountain Lion drivers

and its about time you start admitting that there is an issue here. Also, publicly available bugs can be useful here as well...
