Lion podcast producer can't publish to Lion apple wiki

Hi,Buddies, We're using Podcast Producer on Lion to publish podcast to Lion wiki, use lion podcast composer to define publish to lion wiki/blog server and deploy workflow to PCP server successfully, When we used lion podcast capture to send podcast to pcp server, checked in xgrid agent log and it always stopped at following and say 404 not found with http error, also I found url for posting to wiki is still old architecture of snow leopard, the lion wiki or blog url should be like this http://wiki.edu/wiki/projects/test or http://wiki.edu/wiki/people/U0K4j3h/blog, it's odd! Lion PCP,lion composer, lion wiki, but pcp can't publish to lion wiki, Do you guys have any same experience of this issue? Thanks

I thought I would post back with the solution I finally found in case someone else runs across this. I was going crazy!
This link and the comments in reply to the topic show what the problem is. I could not find it in any Apple documentation so I'm very grateful to those who posted at this link, "Mounting a shared file system for Xgrid":
http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20100609114725470
Basically, Xgrid agents don't have permission to access folders pointed to under /Volumes. The solution is to provide the complete network path in your workflow, starting with /Network/Servers/<servername>/<path to folder>.
As long as the Podcast Producer Xgrid user (in my case, "pcastxgrid") has permission to the directory exported and once the full path is in your workflow the agents can publish to the folder. Again, thanks to those who posted to the hints at macworld.

  • Lion & Podcast Producer?

Does anyone have an idea of the implications of Lion on Podcast Producer?  Initially, information on the Apple website seems vague on whether PCP will be included/integrated with Lion Server.  It seems odd to think that support would disappear, but I finding mixed thoughts on how PCP will look in Lion.  Is anyone out there testing a beta version of Lion?

I got from Apple Enterprise that there are 2 different apps - Podcast (as in Server App) and Podcast Producer (which is the legacy app from Snow Leopard Server).  Podcast Publisher in Lion works with Podcast and integrates into the Lion Wikis.  Podcast doesn't require Xgrid to run as where PCP did.  You can still use the workflows from PCP in Podcast.  PCP is in there and we had it running, but opted to go with the new Podcast app.
It's very confusing and not clear at ALL in the Advanced Server Admin manual, but we're finding that the new Podcast app seems to be more user friendly via Podcast Publisher.   In addition, being able to have non-IT people manage the podcasts via the GUI (wikis) as opposed to the CLI pcast commands to edit the feeds is a plus in our environment.
With your error message above, your DNS setting are all good for your server?

To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
For MacBooks it's only the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody that have the multi-touch trackpad.

  • Is the single edition app that comes with creative cloud just for apple publishing or can I publish on both apple and android?

Is the single edition app that comes with creative cloud just for apple publishing or can I publish on both apple and android? I'm only seeing information on apple intergration.

You’ll need either a Pro or Enterprise account. And you will have to publish any non-iPad app as multi folio. Single edition, regardless of your plan, is iPad only.

  • Do I have to update to lion before I can update to mountain lion in the summer?

Sorry, Ive just never updated from snow lepoard and not sure how this will work... Do I need to purchase lion now or do I just need to wait and "save money" and just update to mountain lion when it comes out??

If your machine qualifies for 10.8, I'm almost positive Apple will provide a one step upgrade from 10.6
Cheaper it might not be, easier it will be.
You can get iCloud email on Snow Leopard 10.6

    BE WARNED!
10.7 will not run a lot of your older software, especially PPC based programs and hardware drivers for third party printers and such.
Some of this great older software can never be gotten again as some developers decided to bail when AppStore arrived, not interested in sharing 30% with Apple and being subjected to their many "changes" and control.
10.6 has Rosetta and it run PPC based software, Rosetta is not on 10.7.
DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE UPGRADING TO 10.7!!
It can cost you more in software upgrades, RAM requirements, new external hardware and possibly slow down your machine(s) if they are dated.

  • Where can I download the lion installer, Where can I download the lion installer

I would like to upgrade my MacBook 2,1 to LIon...it is not qualified to run Mountain Lion. The Lion installer is no longer available at the App Store. Where can I purchase Lion?

You need to call Apple to get it - here is a screenshot of another discussion:

  • My macbook is all up to date with snow leopard but I still can't download mountain lion

I just updated my system to be able to download mountain lion and now its telling me it's not compatible with my computer. Please help???

The model 4,1 Early 2008 MacBook will not be able to run Mountain Lion, but it can run 10.7 Lion. Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is still $29.
It's the video card. Yours has the 144mb Intel GMA X3100 with non-upgradeable 32bit drivers. The model 5,1 Late 2008 and newer have at least the 256mb NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 64bit drivers. Mountain Lion requires 64bit native drivers. Mountain Lion no longer supports Intel's GMA 950 or GMA X3100 graphics processors.

  • Does lion server have podcast producer 2

The Apple Lion Server description lists podcast producer 2 but I'm only finding pod cast capture and pod cast publisher.

In Lion Server, Apple made some changes to the way podcasts can be handled. However, Podcast Producer is still available, and can be configured using the Server Admin app.

  • Lion Server just for Podcast Producer?

I know nothing about servers and such, but am starting a video podcast for our small tribal college to teach our language and culture. I have a new iMac and Lion and use Final Cut Pro X.
Can I install Lion Server just for Podcast Producer and ignore all the other stuff with it? Does PCProducer work well? And does it work well with video?
Thank you for any and all advice or input.

    Correct.

Oh...... so if I read this right.... the total cost for setting up a Lion Server is $29 for Lion + $49 for the server tools.... so $88 total....
I didn't catch on to that prior.....

  • Can someone tell me why Apple cannot produce a Scabble game that works on Mountain Lion. So frustrated that this is not happening with all the technology available.

The only companies that can make a Scrabble game are the companies that own the rights to the game; Hasbro owns the rights in the US & Canada, Mattel owns the rights outside of the US & Canada.
You need to be speaking to those two companies.

  • Can I get podcast producer going on my Macbook?

I make tutorial videos for classes I teach.  Podcast producer looks like a good option for me. I gather I need podcast capture too.  Is it worth it for me to buy OS X Lion and the Lion server just for that purpose?  Otherwise, I'm looking at buying something like Camtasia so that I can record my screen and voice.

Podcast Producer is, as you say, part of OSX Server and is outside my experience (though I would have thought that what you suggest was going a complicated route to achieve your ends). The best place to ask would be in the OSX Lion Server Forum.

  • Why can't I find Podcast Producer under Share in the latest version of FCPX?

We had our Wiki/blog server set up to publish videos directly to Podcast Producer from FCPX?  This summer we upgraded the server to Lion and updated FCPX and the "Podcast Producer" option is gone from the "Share" menu.
Why would they do this?  What is a good option for us at this point for sending videos to Podcast Producer (for our Wiki/Blog server)?

Because Audiobooks are not included in icloud.  The audiobook industry does not allow this.

  • Apple forcing change to Mountain Lion by producing poor updates for other OS versions?

I've been holding off on 10.7.5 and I don't want to go to Mountain Lion. I wonder if Apple really cares about supporting the older OS versions by producing updates that don't result in all the apparent problems people are facing with the 10.7.5 update for example. Not even considering the issues that many seem to be having with ML upgrades.

It's important to remember that these forums are for people with problems, and as such, They are not accurate indicators of real world issues.
Millions of people are using Lion and Mountain Lion with no issues, they won't be using these forums.
Personally, I've used and installed Lion and Mountain Lion on three different Macs in my household, MacMini 3.1, MacBook Pro 3.1, and a MacBook Air 1.1 (limited to Lion), and have had no serious problems with them.
The best course of action is to always have a backup of your current partition before upgrading to Lion or Mountain Lion. In fact, you should have a backup even if you're not planning on upgrading.
Personally, I use Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper for backup purposes on lieu of Time Machine. I like the advantage of having a cloned, bootable partition.
Also, IMHO, Mountain Lion is an improvement over Lion. It smoothed out the rough edges of Lion.
Lion is no longer available from the App Store unless you phone Apple at 1-800-My-Apple to get an autorization code. But, since you don't need Lion to upgrade to Mountain Lion, I'd recommend skipping Lion, if you can.
