Lion running hotter on MacBook Air

Just installed Lion on my MacAir and it is the first time I've ever heard the internal fan run.
Is it me or is Lion using more resources which causes the computer to run hotter?

The activity monitor it's okk, the only program using CPU above 2% is Chrome when I browse. With the time, the CPU goes hot (80º C) and kernal_task have more than 100%.
I has unmount the Air, cleaned fan... the fan function it's perfect. In other post I read the problem is in Lion x64 and it's run x86 the problem dissappear. I testing this now.

  • Can't run App on macbook Air

Hi, I am trying to run an App on my Itunes (MacBook Air, latest model) but although the App has downloaded, i can't get it to run. It is a childrens' App which, when running, allows me to download the individual videos/songs (Gigglebellies). As my Ipad won't connect to the wifi for some unknown reason, I want to download them into my computer and then sync them.
Any ideas on how to get the App to run on my Macbook Air?
    Thank you

Thanks very much. That *DID* occur to me but it seemed too obvious to be true... oh well, now I have to figure out why my Ipad won't download (but it logs into the App Store so the wifi obviously works!!)
    Thanks again

  • Will FCX run on a Macbook Air

Will FCX run on a Macbook Air?

Yes, provided it's running OS X Mavericks (10.9), and has a 64-bit processor.

  • Will Adobe Creative Suite 5 run on a Macbook Air?

I'm thinking of replacing my Macbook Pro 15" with a Macbook Air. I mainly do copywriting, but sometimes I need InDesign and Photoshop. Does the CS suite require a quad-core computer? Will it run on a Macbook Air?

Do NOT get any MacBook 2012 models if you use Adobe CS4, 5, 5.5 or 6.  All models are crashing on any dialog box popup's, i.e. they are nearly unusable for work, unless you like saving every 30 seconds.  They do restart Indesign very fast after it crashes...  Apple has made no comment on what seems to be an obvious video card driver issue in OS X 10.7.4 on the new 2012 models. There are a number of other video related issues as well, but the show stopper for us is the Indesign incompatibility.  Google "fixed" the Chrome problems by removing the 3D accelerator calls thereby slowing down Chrome on these models.

  • I have recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion on my new MacBook Air.

I have recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion on my new MacBook Air.   I have Safari 6.0.  I no longer see the "Empty Cache" option on the Safari drop down menu.  Where did it go?  How can I recover it?
    Gloria

    Safari 6
Mountain Lion comes with Safari 6.
Apple removed "Empty Caches" from Safari menu.
    1. Now clearing history clears caches and favicons.
    2. Enable Develop menu.
         Safari > Preferences > Advanced
At the bottom check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in menu bar.
Click Develop and from the dropdown select "Empty Caches".
    Best.

  • How do I move mail from MacMini running Leopard to MacBook Air on Lion?

I've just started using Lion on a MacBook Air and I'm having a problem transferring Mail from my MacMini running Leopard to the MacBook running Lion.
I used to just move the "Mail" and "Mail Downloads" folders from the Library of one computer to the other. I do this pretty regularly. I understand these folders are hidden in Lion, and I can't figure out how to find them or unhide them.
Any suggestions on how to do this--or another way to copy all my mail from the older computer to the new one (so that it serves as a back-up) will be appreciated. Thanks!

  • I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion on my 2gb MacBook Air.  Will it operate ok?

I have a MacBook Air purchased in May 2009 and have Lion on it.  It seems to have become a bit slow and clunky!  I now want to upgrade to Mountain Lion.  Will the 2GB memory cope with it or not.  Am I able to put additional memory on my Air?

The MBA's RAM isn't upgradable and while the SSD can be upgraded with third party drives, it voids the warranty. Your computer should run Lion acceptably fast but Mt Lion is a bit of a stretch for a 2GB computer, even with an SSD. Plus, if your computer has something dragging it down with Lion, it isn't likely to get any better with the upgrade to Mt Lion.
If you want to start tracking down the cause of your slowdown start looking at your hard drive free space (you should have 10-15% empty) and use Activity Monitor to check for rogue processes.

I am trying run a dvd on my new Macbook Air, I am running the dvd from my iMac but it is slow and not running correctly.
Any suggestions on running dvd's from the network to the Macbook Air?

It’s not a fresh problem anyhow
I would suggest that problems with the same symptoms can (often do) have different causes. And the each case should be evaluated
using the details specific to the source media and the computer environment. And, your computer environment focus appears to be Mac based
on the content of your posted links.
I am strictly an Elements Windows user who has never worked with Premiere Elements Mac.
Although I realize that some of the features of Premiere Elements Windows and Mac are different, the two programs
have much in common. And, I realize the preference of Mac for files that use the .mp4 or .mov container with the equal
importance of the video compression and audio compression.
H.264.mp4 file has been and should be compatible with Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Windows and Mac. But, we need to define
if we are talking about compatibility in the Elements Organizer 12 versus Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Editor. In this thread, the target appears to be primarily
in Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Mac Editor.
In this case, we do not yet know the video and audio compression that goes with the .mp4 container.
Uncertain significance at this time is that the file sent as a sample via a Dropbox link cannot be
downloaded because "the file is corrupt". And, I am not clear on what the following is all about.
    Importing a 964.1 meg mp4 file
Before factoring in file conversion, I would like to know more about the file. But, this is an old thread which has not been written to by its originator since
May 2014. I do not feel that we have enough information to build a case for "not a fresh problem" and can't import .mp4 into Premiere Elements Mac.

  • Running Windows on MacBook Air

    Hi
I am considering buying a MacBook Air 11 inch 128gb.  However from time to time I will need to use Windows apps particularly Microsoft Access and I just wanted to check whether I will have any problems running Windows on this spec of MacBook Air?
    Many thanks
    Ken

I have exactly the setup you are thiking of getting, a mid year2011 11" i5 with 4GB ram and a 128GB SSD.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using VirtualBox which is free, no need to Bootcamp.
I created a 30GB file for it. After initial install it had only used about 9-10GB.
At the moment with SQL Server Express and MATLAB installed, plus a few other things like Chrome browser for my windows coding, the file has grown to 17GB, and im having no problems.
In fact i tried installing SQL Server Express on a Vista 64 machine that was lying around, denied! it didnt work, but under the VM all is working well. how cool is that.
The great thing about using VirtualBox is that your windows machine is just basically one big file on your Mac disk, no fancy cumbersome dual installs needed, plus i didnt want windows polluting my Mac too much.
This is my first Mac and i cant say enough good things about it.
As for optical drive, im using a Samsung SE-S084 and it works no problems, its what i used to install Windows into the VM.
    Good luck.
ps: one more little thing, when running Windows using VirtualBox, im allocating 3GB to Windows and 1GB to Mac and im having no problems.
basically i might have Chromium running in Mac, finder, preview and its all fine. I like to allocate a little bit more to Windows as i know a few of the coding tools can be a little hungry.

  • Running Windows on Macbook Air - ISO file question

I need to install Windows on my Macbook Air because some of my classes require using Windows.
I am wondering if I can buy the Windows product key and create an ISO file from it (using this tutorial http://pcsupport.about.com/od/software-tools/a/create-iso-image-file.htm) on my family's PC, and then directly copy that file onto a USB. After that, I would transfer that ISO file from the USB and onto my Macbook Air and then run Bootcamp to get Windows on my Mac.
Though it sounds correct, I don't know if that will necessarily work (the copying the ISO from the PC to my USB part).
Please help! I need to have this installed hopefully within 2 weeks!
    Thanks so much in advance.

    Hi w.z,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
You can install Windows 7 or Windows 8 with an ISO image. I would suggest reading over the linked Boot Camp Installation and Setup Guide as a resource for information.

  • Mountain lion on a new macbook air

i bought a new macbook air a week ago and it came with OS X 10.8.2, i saw on apple store that i can buy mountain lion and install it, shouldn't it be free for a new mac?

Great! Here are some introductory tutorials:

    Videos:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/VI53
Some indicate "OS X Lion" so even Apple can get confused
    (Mountain Lion is very similar)
