Lion's iCal sending out invitation in UTC timezone

Just tried using Lion to send an iCal invitation to someone (who is using Snow Leopard) and they were all confused because the event, which is for a Friday @ 7:30pm, appeared to be for Saturday @ 2:30 am.  After viewing the email you can see the date/time are in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time)…which is GREAT for computers...but wondering if there's a setting to send future invitations in a more human friendly form?

Work in Zulu time--GMT, and then only convert the output to your local install on location when you need something human readable for reporting.

  • Why can't iCal send out invitees??

Well, nothing has changed, and nothing has been fixed, so here's a restatement of my problem.
I get lost is all the tech talk. However, put simply, here's my simple problem that Apple never figured out either!
Bottom line - as soon as iCloud is introduced into the configuration, my iCal can't send out invites.
When I first got my Macbook pro using my calendar locally I could invite and get acceptances via Apple email using Comcast email address.
As soon as I got the iCloud involved I lost this capability! I messed around for several hours on the phone, got the problem escalated, went to the genius bar and no one ever figured out the solution. So, it hasn't worked for over a year. I bought the mac and it came with Lion. So, my combination where I can't send out invites is Lion and iCloud. It's the CLOUD!!!!
As an experiment I made my calendar local to my mac again (took it away from iCloud), and invites worked!! Unfortunately I got an iPhone and again got corraled into the iCloud. So, my invites don't work again!
My wife has my same configuration except for the fact she doesn't use the iCloud, i.e. her calendar is local. She can send out invites, I can receive them from her, I can accept or decline them and she gets the response.....
Bottom line - as soon as iCloud is introduced into the configuration, my iCal can't send out invites. From what I see out there in the communities, this is a real problem! Apple tech - any solutions?
Anyone out there from Apple care enough to help me out?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Find my friends won't let me accept or decline invites... It also won't let me send out invites.. I only have 2 followers

I just accepted 2 friends on find my friends but now it won't let me accept, decline, or send out invites... The buttons are there but not like "lit up" to press.. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

Do you have any restrictions for purchasing apps on the phone? Settings > General > Restrictions. If you have a Mac computer or another Apple device can you purchase things in the App Store using the same Apple ID on something else?

  • Business iCal sending out multiple calendar invites - one calendar and one account, 2 people using it for work

    First question:
My boss has a Macbook Pro (iPad & iPhone), I have a Dell and iPad.  We use his iCal for our work calendar and my Outlook is logged into his iCal so that I can load appointments & send them out to clients.  He obviously has access to the same calendar so that he can also load appointments.
We have realised that sometimes the meeting invite, although I only send ONE invite out, will send 6 invites to a person. Here below you will see the icons that appear next to the 6 invites that the person that receives it sees next to the invites. It is therefor 3 types of emails/invites that are each sent out twice to the client.  This is obviously not ideal. Could it be that I must not include my boss in the invites (as it is already his calendar sending out the invites), or what could it be that I am doing wrong?
    Second question:
How can I ensure that replies (Yes/No/Maybe/Comments) appear in the iCal meeting, as people reply, but those replies I have to copy and paste into the meeting as they do not currently automatically update in the meeting.
    Third question:
Any suggestions on a better system/method?
    Please help!

I think I know what can help. I also support Mac users in a mixed environment, and find that being able to access a Windows machine to test settings for my iCal users is very very helpful. If you do not have one, I could also fix this one by adding the user's account to my one Mac that runs Entourage.
On a PC: set up one of the problem accounts in Outlook, then go to Tools->Options & click on the Delegates tab. Click on a Delegate name (if they all have the same permission level, you can select all), then click the Permissions button. If the delegate have "Editor" permissions, there will be a little checked box that sends the delegate copies of all those meetings. De-select it.
Lemme know if you want Entourage instructions or if that does it for you.
The real question, of course, is why are there so many Exchange functions that iCal can't touch. Grrrr....

    Hi Dave,
I went ahead and gave Vincent one of the reserved licenses I mentioned due to timing. That invite went fine. I'm still unclear why we can't sucessfully add a new seat and have these invites go out. We will have more request coming soon and I'd like to know what we need to do.
Here are the steps I perfrom when adding a new seat for a new team member:
-As a plan administrator, log into the Console
-Under manage your team, Scroll to the bottom and click on the Add a Seat button
-A new Invite User feild is generated and I select the app from the drop down menu.
-I add the new users email address and click on Invite User button
-A popup asked for the users frist and last name and I can also add a personal message.
    -Click Send.
At this point I would expect the user to get the email with in a few minutes and at the same time an email is sent to CDW and a Invoice is generated for payment.
Thisis what we have understood as the proper way to add new seats. Does this sound correct to you? Or are we doing something incorrectly? I also still wonder if the license we have not distributed to staff is some how related to the invite not sending.

  • ICal sending multiple invites for one event

I have an mixed environment where my Mac users running OSX 10.6.4 sync with our MS Exchange 07 using Mail 4.3 and iCal 4.0.3 . Everything is syncing correctly between the two environments, but we have run in to an annoying snag.
We have multiple users that have Read/Write Access to multiple calendars. Whenever somebody creates an event on one these calendars, even if the user is not an invitee they receive an email notification. The notification is on behalf of the calendar that the event was created for. If the user is an invitee they then receive 2 invites for the same event. This only happens with users who have Read/Write access to these calendars
I have searched high and low and can not find anybody that has the same issue as I do. Any assistance or advice in how to make so that users with Read/Write access only receive notifications to events they are invited to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time!
    Cheers,
    Nic Young

  • Is there an issue with sending out invites today?

I have been trying to add a new seat for an individual Illustrator license and sent out three invites and none of them has come through. Its been a few hours since the first one went out. I verified the email address and checked the junk mail folder but nothing it showing up. I revoked the original request and resent with the same results. Any issues that Adobe is aware of?

  • ICal sending random invitations

    Using Snow Leopard now.
For some reason, iCal is randomly resending invitations to events that are months (and in one case 2 years) old. I've not done a thing to initiate this--at least not to my knowledge. What might possibly be causing this behavior? I've never had this happen before.

Here is what I once did to determine the account to which the reply to the invitation should be sent: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9949401&#9949401. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to work for me, and the reason is that the certificate for the first account is untrusted. I set the trust to untrusted in attempt to get a newer certificate recognized. (For the curious, there is background information in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10444645#10444645). So the reply-to address in the invitation is my second email address, which has no certificate. Indeed, setting the trust back to default causes the reply-to address in the invitation to revert to the correct one.

  • Which calendar app has the ability to send out meeting invitations?

I need a good calendar app which I can have on my iPhone and during meetings will allow me to send out invites, without waiting to go to my computer. The default calendar does not do that.

The Calendar app sends invites just fine for me, when creating the meeting I simply add invitees and when the event is added, invites are sent.
You must have a default mail account setup of course.
It also sends updates and cancel emails if things change.

  • Is there a way to make Ical send notifications to Invitees on a certain day?

I am president of My 4-H Club and I need a way to keep 200 members informed about all of the upcomming events. At the beginning of the year, I add all of the events for the year in ical, and invite the group to each event. The problem is that ical sends out the reminder email inviting the members to the event the day that I Create the Event (Which sometimes is 6 months before the event). Is there a way to scedule the ical event reminder? If I create the event today, I do not want the members to receive the invite until one or two days before the event.

To make I-cal open automatically when you log in or start up:
Drag the application icon into the dock. Hold down the cursor on the icon and you will get a little menu. Choose Open at Login.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
    Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

  • Can i send out an Ical invite directly from my iphone or did Apple drop this huge ball?

Can i send out an Ical invite directly from my iphone or did Apple drop this huge ball?

No I have my own iPhone iPad and MacBook  so everything is set up on devices that are mine and as far as I know I never connected to anyone else's device and logged with my apple ID.  But are you saying it is possible for someone to have obtained my apple ID and send an iMessage from their device with my contact information so it looks like it came directly from me?  It's crazy I looked down at my iPhone and saw this message had just been sent that I did not type or send

  • ICal: Changing the assigned calendar of an event sends out a new invite to all participants

    iCal version 5.0.3:
I have multiple accounts set up (iCloud, shared, Exchange) in iCal.
I've noticed that when I receive an invite that is assigned to the wrong calendar (e.g. to my icloud calendar) and I then change the assigned calendar to the Exchange calendar, iCal actually sends an invite to all the attendees with me as the organizer of the event!
Instead of just changing the assigned calendar in my iCal, it creates a new invite on the new calendar from me to all the invitees.
This seems to be new behaviour (bug) in version 5, as I can't remember this happening in earlier versions. It stopped being funny when it just did this with a company-wide HR event to all employees
My default calendar is set to the Exchange account, but iCal seems to ignore that ever so often when adding new invites
Any ideas on how to prevent this, or do i have to wait for an update to iCal?

    Hi Chris,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I often do the same thing (ie create an event in the wrong calendar). Are you aware that the assigned calendar appears in the info pane. You could simply select the correct calendar there, even reassign events.
I understand the desire to do this with Quickeys, though I suspect very few people here use Quickeys. So if you don't get an answer here I'd suggest you consider the Quickeys forum: http://forum.cesoft.com/

  • Calendar events created in iCal sending multiple email invites to invitees

    Background:
    Google Apps domain account
Lion and Snow Leopard iCal users syncing to Google Calendar
    Problem:
1.A Lion user creates a new iCal event and invites multiple people to the event.  The event is created and then an email invitation is sent to all invitees.  Each invitee receives 6 - 10 email notices about the evet.
    2. the event organizer changes the event time, multiple email notices go out to all invitees (6-10 emails each).
What is causing this problem and is there a way to fix it?
    Thanks
