Lion Safari 5.1 Google Calling Feature Voice Plugin

Lion Safari 5.1 Google Calling Feature Voice Plugin
When I use Safari for the Google Calling Feature I keep getting the request to download the voice plugin to make a call. It used to work in pervious versions. And it works using Google Chrome.
Sometimes when I close Gmail and re-open the plugin is working and other times that does not work and I have to download again.
Any ideas on why this happening or how to fix?

Try Google support pages.

  • Lion + Safari made Google Earth stop working properly

Upgraded to Lion now Google Earth Plugin won't work on Safari anymore. It works perfectly on Firefox, Chrome and Opera. I would like to keep using...please help. Thanks.
It worked FLAWLESSLY (Safari & Google Earth) on Snow Leopard before upgrading to Lion.

No problem using Google Earth with Safari 5.1.1 on Lion v10.7.2 here.
    Perhaps the preferences are corrupted.
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the following files to the Trash.
    com.google.GoogleEarthPlugin.plist
    com.GoogleEarthPlus.plist
    com.GoogleEarthPlus.plistlockfile
Restart your Mac. Try launching Google Earth.

    Unknown, probably NO- Block Caller
(True call blocking can only be done by the carrier. The best any phone could possibly do is a) not ring and b) send the call to voice mail)
Unknown, probably NO- Record Voice Call
(This will probably NEVER been included as the legality of doing so can vary wildly from place to place, sometimes from state to state and even city to city)
    Unknown- 3G Video Call (GSM)
This may not be such a great idea with most carriers doing away with unlimited data plans. FaceTime over 3G could end up costing a lot!
Not published, but widely reported as Yes- Personalize Text Ringtone
This already exists in the current iOS and has since 1.0- Conference Call
AT&T can handle up to 5 simultaneous calls linked together, Verizon only 2. Support will vary by carrier.

  • Google Gmail Phone Call Feature in Minefield 64 bit for Windows

The Phone Call feature contained within google's GMail application does not appear to be working in the 64 bit version of Firefox (entitled Minefield). It seems to work OK on most 32 bit browsers, but not the 64 bit versions. Any ETA on when this problem will be fixed?

That's fine. I've asked them as well. I just thought I'd cover all the bases, since ultimately this involves "two great products that work great together"

  • Safari forgets last Google search

Hi, there's something that's been bugging me since the last release of Safari. Very often - probably 70% of the time - I will search something via the Google bar. If I click on a link and then want to go back to the Google search results, when I press 'back' Safari forgets the Google results page and jumps back to the page I was on before that. If I go into history the Google page is there but it's an annoying bug.
I haven't tried unistalling and reinstalling Safari yet as this seems to involve reinstalling the OS (or am I wrong?). The bug seemed to survive the last OS mini update...I think. Just wondering if anyone else had encountered this and if you came across any solutions.
(And yes I know other browsers are available, thank you )

Deleting the Google search window history is easy. Click on the magnifying glass and there will be an option to Clear Recent Searches at the bottom of the drop-down list.
Clearing Safari's address window of addresses is a different matter. There is no way to completely clear the list of suggestions or to turn off URL Autocomplete. Autocomplete gets its data from the cache, History, and Bookmarks. The only way to minimize autocomplete is to periodically clear the cache and History and to go through your Bookmarks and delete old and seldom used ones, including those created when Safari was first installed.
One work-around is to add an extra blank space either before you start typing or when you are done typing in the address. All the various alternatives will then disappear.
You can add your voice to all the others who want to turn autocomplete off by requesting a toggle in Preferences by sending a feature request via "Report Bugs to Apple" under the Safari menu.

  • Google Map features (controllers) break in IE

This issue is not consistent and my not even be an APEX error. The issue is only with IE7 and IE8 and not with Firefox or Safari. I have an application that uses extjs which contains google maps API and creates the form and map onReady. Initially, my everything is fine. I can use the slider bar to zoom in, double click on map to zoom, overview map is there, and more. Sometimes (inconsistent), I can just click on the url and hit enter and the slider bar is gone as well as the overview and I can no longer click on the map. The map is still there but all the google api features are gone. If I do a normal refresh all returns to normal.
I know the onReady is being called (appears properly) after the form is created when the map is refreshed by clicking on the url and hitting enter. Alerts() tell me that. I even looked through the div tags that that are generated by the google map creation and the working version and errored version are almost the same. Same number of div tags with minor alterations in the content of a few divs. Has anyone ever seen this issue? My application is using ExtJS 2.* and is served through APEX 3.2.

    Thank you for any feedback.

I found out the problem. So to help people in the future fix this problem.
First, JSON was the problem. We have a call in our header to include json.js and used xx.parseJSON() in our code. The problem with that is JSON is native to IE8 and maybe partially native to IE7. This caused it to break in IE but work fine in Firefox. To fix it, we adjusted the JSON a little and changed the code to call JSON.parse(xx). This did the trick. Perhaps in the IE native JSON environment parseJSON() exist but not JSON.parse so removing the double calls so that our app uses the original JSON and not IE version of JSON. Have fun.

  • Something called "television fanatic plugin" which seems to have come with the Safari upgrade is preventing me from opening Safari.  Help

Something called "television fanatic plugin" which seems to have come with the upgrade to Safari 5.1 is preventing me from opening Safari.  I cannot find it on my computer.  What do I have to do to eliminate it and be able to open Safari?

If the software doesn't have an uninstall feature, quit Safari and try manually removing the third-party add-on files. These files are usually installed in one or more of the following locations:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    /Library/Input Methods/
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/ScriptingAdditions
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    ~/Library/Input Methods/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions
The first four locations listed are in the root-level Library on your hard disk, not the user-level Library in your Home folder. The tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library.

  • Jabber call to voice mail fails with fast busy over VPN

I have an issue that I ran into with CIPC phones over a VPN.  If a CIPC phone called over a VPN and started ringing a phone the call would fail with fast busy at the time the call would be forwarded to voicemail.  I found the issue was when remote the CIPC phone would negotiate the g.729 codec, when forwarded to a voicemail pilot over a SIP trunk set to g.711 the call would fail due to codec missmatch when no transcoders are present.
So now I am running into what I believe to be the same issue with Jabber, when on premise the calls to voice mail work just fine, but when remote they fail.  I can directly call the voicemail pilot without error, but if calling a phone the call gets fast busy at the point we are forwarded to voicemail.  Even though all my regions are set to talk to all other regions on G.711 and the voicemail SIP trunk is set to G.711, I believe with the new features in CUCM9 that a lower speed codec has been negotiated since the we are going over the VPN, or Jabber has done this as it knows it's over VPN (not sure).  WIth CIPC I could go into the settings and turn off the Optimize for Bandwidth check box and the call would negotiate G.711.  With Jabber I can't find anything that would tell my Jabber client to stay on G.711 and I can only imagine this is a codec missmatch as the following are true.
    1. CIPC and Jabber share the same line
    2. VPN established and CIPC optimised for low bandwidth un-checked
    3. Over the same VPN the CIPC phone can leave a voicemail
    4. Over the same VPN the Jabber client gets fast busy once forwarded to voicemail
    5. Voicemail environment is Exchange-UM over SIP trunk
    6. SIP trunk is assigned a Device Pool, that is assigned to a region that all other regions communicate G.711 to
    7. On CIPC if optimised for low bandwidth is checked I get the exact same issue as I get with the Jabber client (fast busy when forwarded to voicemail)
Would anyone know what I can do in CUCM 9 to fix this issue, as said no issue when all devices are on premise.  Wondering if there is a service parameter or a way to change the codec selection so the Jabber client attempts to always negotiate G.711.  The correct answer would be to get some PVDM DSP resources and kick up a transcoder in my resource group, and that may be what I talk them into doing if I have no other options.

We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year!  Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved.  The problem seems to be in the initial connection.  Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal.  I get the same message when I call back:  “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time.  Please try again later!”  I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message!  I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later.  If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.”  This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!!  I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle?  When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!!  NEVER let them talk you into that!!!  It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!!  I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract!  Good luck if you have Verizon………

  • 8961 call features don't work on CME

    Dear all,
I installed the 8961 using sip on CME 8.8, and I have configured the feature-buttons on the template which includes call pickup, call park and transfers, and these feature buttons can display on the screen. But when I use these buttons, I get the busy tone, that means these feature buttons don't work.
Are there any other setting steps for using these call features?
    Thanks
    Kirin

let me send you a few more links which will give you step by step configuration of cal park, call transfer.....
so that you can clarify the configuration once,

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmetrans.html
and below is some useful information regarding soft key configuration on cme
Cisco Unified CME uses the existing softkey command under voice  register template configuration mode to control the controllable  feature soft keys on phones. Cisco Unified CME generates a featurePolicy.xml file for each voice register template configured. The list of controllable soft key configurations are specified in the featurePolicy.xml file.  Phones need to reboot or reset to download the Feature Policy template  file. For Cisco IP phones that do not have a Feature Policy template  assigned to them, you can use the default Feature Policy template file  (featurePolicyDefault.xml file).

I disagree...We use apple because we like to use safari.
why would we download another troublesome browser onto our macs..?
    geez.
Yes it is & I'm sticking to it!!!!
Using Safari is your personal choice.  Having backup browsers is the way to go for Mac users.  If one browser doesn't work, use one that will.  Not all browsers are troublesome.
I use 3 browsers.  None are troublesome.  The browser I use as my default browser has more of what I want to do than Safari.  It's my personal choice.

  • Mountain Lion + Safari + My Wife

The 3 things above do not work well together.
Here is the short story on EXCESSIVE Hard Drive activity using the 3 items listed above.
I just purchased another iMac for my wife replacing her prior mid 2010 iMac 21.5.
One of the reasons is that after upgrading her prior computer to Mountain Lion, she had excessive hard drive activity.
I had to put her back on 10.7.5 Lion to stop this.
After purchasing this newer mid 2011 iMac 27 for her, the same thing is happening on her user account using Mountain Lion and Safari.
Excessive hard drive activity when using Safari. Even after quting Safari the hard drive keeps reading and writing at an excessive rate.
    Something like 5, 10, 20, 40 MB per second read and/or write.
I migrated my account over to this new machine for a test and I don't have that problem when using Safari on Mountain Lion.
This tells me that the System does not seem to be the problem.
It seems to have something to do with her user folder or what she has is Safari.
So, I deleted almost everything thing she had in Safari including bookmarks, cache, top sites, history, etc.
Everything but saved names and passwords.
I refuse to do that as I you would most likely be reading my name in the obituary section of the newspaper.
(Yes, we do have everything backed up but I still refuse to do that)
Instead of putting her back on 10.7.5 Lion on this newer iMac, I started having her use FireFox.
There seems to be no problem now with excessive hard drive activity when using Mountain Lion and FireFox and her user account.
I also have her entire prior hard drive running Lion 10.7.5. cloned on an external hard drive and it doesn't have any problems when running on the new iMac.
Bottom Line, can anyone give me any ideas on why Safari might be doing this for her user account only?
Again, I have tried many things not mentioned here to try and find the cause but have not come up with the answer.
Activity Monitor and/or Console Logs have not given me any answers unless I'm missing something.
2 different computers doing the exact same thing only on her account using Mountain Lion and Safari.
Thinking about calling Tech Support but not sure if Tier 2 or Tier 3 can even give me the answer I am looking for.
Anyone else called about a similar problem with excessive hard drive activity and got any real fixes?
    iMac 21.5, 10.8.2, 4 GB memory
    iMac 27, 10.8.2, 8 GB memory
    Repaired Permissions (no problems)
    Started in Safe Mode
    Reset SMC
    Reset P-Ram
Nothing seems to help for her account when using Mountain Lion and Safari

OK, I might have found the problem.
After spending about a week on her prior computer and about a week on this newer computer, I may have found the problem.
I checked the Activity Monitor again and this time the "Dashboard" was taking up 100% of the CPU
I found a "Widget" in the dashboard that seems to have been either corrupted in transfer or a bad widget.
I had the same Widget in my user folder but it seemed to be OK as I wasn't having any problems.
That seems to be why just her user account was affected.
I removed the Widget on her user account and so far, the Dashboard is only using a percent or two of the CPU processes.
I will report back if things change.
I have her back on Safari for the time being.
Looks like my name won't be in the obituary section of the newspaper, at least for a little while longer, now.

  • Page not found when trying to go to Calling Features

I am logged into https://www36.verizon.com/fiosvoice/members/default.aspx and when I select "Calling Features" on the left side of the page I get the Verizon Fios Digital Voice "Page Not Found" page.
    I am using Firefox 3.5.9.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Am I using the correct URL for Digital Voice?

Same with me and my "Do Not Disturb" feature has been turned on without my knowledge, and now I can't turn it off.
I was able to get through to a rep for FIOS (on the phone with them right now) and they are trying to get a tech to disable that feature.

  • Yoga 2 (830L) calling feature

Hello everyone. I recently bought Lenovo Yoga 2, 8inch, lte support (830L). I have question regarding calling feature. I saw on some websites that this option is available but I don't see it in my Yoga2. I live in UK. If someone knows something please let me know. Thank You in advance

I am also awaiting the fix for this. I am led to believe you need to change the firmware to 830LC but this seems complicated from what I have read on the net unless you are familiar with the process. I am sure there must be a simple programme or file to add to the tablet to enable the phone dialler to appear, after all the internet states that the two tablets are identically built it is just the dialling voice function that is missing from the 830L. I am very disappointed this is not present on this tablet. I want to use my 4g sim card for calls as well as data but just can't find a work around for this as yet. Someone must have managed to crack this in a simple way by now. I see there is a open source firmware in the lenovo support area but I'm not sure what to do with it if I download it, so need the instructions.

My iphone 6 the micorphone has stoppped working unless I speak loudly right into it and its still not clear during calls and voice memos. But it works just fine for Siri and text dictation. I use the earbuds for work so not sure how long its been going on. Only change is I updated to iOS 8.1.3. Not sure if I should exchange my phone or if its a software glitch since the same mic seems to work for some things and not others. Any ideas would be apreciated.

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:
