Lion ScreenSaver re-active hang during read my iPhoto pictures

Hi,
My Lion cannot display password logon during screensaver is reading my iPhoto pictures.
Because I setup my screensaver to random display my iPhoto pictures.
I have an external monitor with my MacBook. Both of my monitors will display iPhoto pictures with screensaver.
Screen hang if i'd like to re-active from screensaver to normal operation mode.
That will be fine if screensaver reads iPhoto pictures and start to display them.
Hang status happen during screensaver still reading iPhoto pictures for 2~3 seconds and before display them.
Please check what's happen with this kind of issue for current Lion OS X 10.7.3
Many thanks

Hi Mike,
I just saw this post and saw no one has responded.  You might have figured out but in case, I wanted to let you know what I found out.  I had the same problem.  Hard drive failure, they installed a new one and my iPhoto pictures were missing.  I couldn't find them on Time Machine either which baffled (and frustrated) me b/c I just backed up my drive and I was missing pictures from over a year ago.
I found this article and it allowed me to at least find my pictures...so they weren't lost after all.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/16029742#16029742
As for why they aren't showing up in iPhoto or Time Machine, the lady at the Mac store said it is probably an OS conflict.  Which makes sense since I can see the actual pictures in the iPhoto content file (per the article mentioned above).  However, I didn't have my computer with me at the store to have a Genius person help me resolve the conflict.
BUT, if you can find the pictures, then maybe you can reimport them into iPhoto?  Just a thought.
Good luck!

  • Mountain Lion 10.8.2 reset during apps update (iPhoto 9.4, Aperture 3.4.1, Xcode)

I'm experiencing a lot of troubles, after Mountain Lion automatic update.
system during apps update such as iphoto 9.4, Aperture, etc, freeze, screen become white, then retart automatically.
Even today during my new iphone 5 installation made the system reset by itself. Quiet unusual for a Mac, especially this new Retina display.
    My configuration,
    Mac Book Pro Retina Display 15" -  i7 2,6 - 16GB Ram, 768 Gb SSD
    Intel HD4000
    Nvidia GT M650
Can anybody help me to get out of this big issue? FYI, I rein stalled Mountain Lion manually, downloading the file from Apple website.
    Thanks

  • Background File Activity Hangs

I've about had it with Dreamweaver because of this one single
problem. If I restart my system and open Dreamweaver, I can work
for a few minutes or an hour, or a few seconds, or a whole day, but
at some point along the way, guaranteed, Background File Activity
hangs during a PUT function or a Save (automatically put) function
and the resulting file on the server corrupts itself and reads a
    zero length.
This is particularly annoying because it screws up my site's
    styling...GRRRRR.

Just guessing here (I haven't experienced this), but does it help to rebuild your site cache? Site->Recreate Site Cache
Or, commonly these days, follow the steps for removing a corrupted cache file here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/417116
Note that it may take some time to rebuild the cache if you have a lot of files in your site(s). Perhaps longer if the local files are on a different computer (LAN).

  • Adobe reader 11 Hang during 1-2 minutes when opening a file

    Hello,
We are very unhappy with Acrobat Reader. We have Some Hangs/Crash into us computers.
With adobe acrobat reader upper tan 11.0.3  hang when start (open a file) during... approx 2 minutes.  During the Hang, Acrobat Reader be unresponsive.
I tried to change the protected mode. change nothing. I can saw is when Acrobat Reader start the Tools Menu (for me).
I tried to completely uninstall(registry and folders cleanup too) and do a fresh install, changed nothing.
If we use 11.0.3 or 10.0.X, we don't have problems.
Maybe the UTM firewall block something ?
I need help, why i think we going to use Foxit if we don't fund the problem.
    Best Regards
    Vincent

    Hello,
No, i checked. I bypassed the UTM Firewall and do same.
Yes, I can contact the cloud.acrobat.com, with or without firewall.
I bypassed the Anti-Virus, same problem.
I unchecked the "enable protection mode". Same.
I modified the registry to be like this :
    64-bit:
    Keypath:          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown
    Value name:   bProtectedMode
    Value type:     REG_DWORD
    Value data:     0
    32-bit:
    Keypath:          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown
    Value name:   bProtectedMode
    Value type:     REG_DWORD
    Value data:     0
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\IPM]
    "bDontShowMsgWhenViewingDoc"=dword:00000001
    "bShowMsgAtLaunch"=dword:00000000
I saw one way to investigate !    We got a shortcut here  (power injection tests) and the network switch goes off. During the network was disconnected, the Reader work. (Only a little hang of 1-2 seconds during opening file instead the 3-5minutes Hang ). I successfully reproduce them simply with disable the network card.
Please Adobe Team : Help me to investigate, to debug.
I saw nothing bad with ProcessExplorer. I do a minidump.
Which tool I can use to understand ?    Wireshark ?

  • IPhone/iTunes sync hangs during "backup" phase

When I plug my iPhone into my Mac, a sync with iTunes starts. That's fine; what's not fine is that the synchronization always "hangs" during the "Backing up your iPhone" phase. If I click the little "X" on the iTunes display window, it proceeds fine, presumably skipping the backup phase of the sync.
How can I stop this from hanging during the synchronization?
    Thanks.

I have been experiencing this problem lately as well. I've been using an Iphone for over a year now and this is a NEW problem in the last 30-45 days.
My Iphone takes over an hour and a half to complete the backup. It appears to be hung but is not.
I also just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support....yeah...that was a waste of time. Essentially, they told me that ALL the data on your iphone goes through the Itunes server across your active internet connection and the time can vary depending upon how busy the server is and how much data is on your Iphone.
Holly Crap!....who designed the architecture for this thing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find this completely unacceptable. If this continues beyond September, I am switching to a Blackberry. When I connect my Iphone I don't expect to retire before the freakin thing finishes.

  • Mail hang during large message download

I've noticed several times when I get emails that either exceed the auto download size threshold, or have large attachments on them that Mail will 'hang' during the download. I can exit out of the message but it's still spinning away and won't get any more email from the server.
I'm using a Pop email account. The only fix I've found is to "magic power cycle" the mail app using the sleep button / home key hold down. Once mail starts after this the message will fully download. It's been happening for a while, but I wanted to be sure it wasn't a fluke.
Anyone else run across this & find an easier workaround?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I have been having no end of problems with email since upgrading to 10.5 about a month ago.
Generally, after some time, various activities hang around in the Activity window (such as "evaluating message n of m") and prevent normal email updates and quitting. Neither Apple support nor the local Apple Genius were able to assist. Even reinstalling the OS (10.5.2, 10.5.3, or 10.5.4) and rebuilding the user account manually did not work. I tried running "Sample Process" in Activity Monitor on Mail.app and noticed a lot of "semaphorewait_signaltrap"s that seemed to be related to AddressBook. This led me to the following process which has (at least for now) fixed my problem:
    1. Quit (or Force Quit) Mail.
    2. In Address Book, use File>Export>Address Book Archive... to dump the contents of the address book.
    3. Quit Address Book
    4. Rename your ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book folder to something else (in case you want to restore it later)
    5. Start Address Book
    6. Use File>Import>Address Book Archive... to restore the contents of the address book
It may be voodoo, but it worked for me.

  • IPod/iTunes 6 hangs during updating

I've just spent most of a weekend trying to figure out why a 40GB click-wheel iPod will not sync with iTunes. I'm at a bit of a loss here. I know there are several (long) posts on update issues - perhaps this is just another case. Here's the low-down:
    Gear:
    * iPod 40GB 'click-wheel' model, 3.1 firmware (2005-09-23 update), firewire interconnect direct to iMac (no dock)
    * iMac G4 1GHz, OS X 10.3.9, iTunes 6.0.1, about 1600 songs
    Symptom:
iPod appears on the desktop and can browse folders. iTunes starts. Hangs during iTunes update on a random song. Usually <20 into the list - but sometimes anything up to song 1000. Flashing 'do not disconnect' symbol freezes on iPod LCD, iMac hangs (Activity Monitor indicates a >90% cpu load on iTunes process, generally requires a 'hard' restart to recover the iMac - even after force-quitting the iTunes process).
    Tried:
    * Reset iPod
    * Restore iPod with 3.1
    * Restore iPod with 3.0.2 (2005-06-26)
    * iPod into disk mode and restore
    * iPod disk verify and erase using OS X Disk Utility, restore firmware
    * New firewire cable
    * iPod into diagnostics mode - run most tests including HDD scan (all pass)
    * iMac disk permissions verify/fix
    * Delete iTunes preferences and restart - library rebuilds
    * Copy music to a new location, delete all iTunes data, now start afresh and
use add to library to rebuild library
    * Removed songs and entire albums that sync freezes on (just freezes on
    another song)
    * Checked out iMac firewire ports with iSight
    * Discussed with Apple Tech guy at Genius bar, agreed pretty much all steps
had been covered. iPod exchanged believing something like iPod connector
to be the issue. No difference.
So I'm pretty much convinced at this stage the issue lies with the iMac software. iPod and cable have been thoroughly investigated and changed out. iMac firewire ports work with iSight.
I've seen some posts suggesting deleting and restrong from the 10.3.9 update the iPod driver (iPodDriver.kext). This seems pretty drastic! I'm hesitant to go get a Tiger upgrade - this should work with 10.3.9.
Apologies for the long post - but I'd be interested to hear views at this point.
    Thanks
    40GB click-wheel   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   iTunes 6.0.1

Hey, you the man. I just want to say thank you. I hooked up a just repaired touch wheel iPod to my son's g4 iMAC, and it kept hanging on random songs and even the one's it transferred, it did slowly. I tried everything everyone else has, I did restores and erases forever. And it kept hanging up, so I had to frequently disconnect the iPod to get control back of the computer. This morning I was on the phone with Apple tech for over an hour. His conclusion was that because some of the songs weren't purchased from the Apple Store, I needed to manually transfer each song one at a time. I had to go, so didn't get to try it until later today and same problem. Again I called Apple tech support. Guy was very nice, on phone with him for 90 minutes, he didn't think the first advice made much sense. He gave up in frustration when we couldn't get into the disk utility because iPod kept going to automatic update. He told me to call back tomorrow and speak to a specialist. He said he's never had this much difficulty with an iPod. After the call, I managed to get into the disk utillity and do the erase and repair but didn't do anything. When I finally deactivated the auto update, manually transferring the songs one at a time didn't solve the problem. I read your post, started up after disconnecting the iSight firewire cable, took a chance of activating auto update of songs again, and voila, it transferred all the songs (all 176 of them) in about 10 seconds, like a warm knife through butter. And as they said on Saturday Night Live, it felt "like butter." I will call Apple tomorrow and tell them they really need to do something about this. In the meantime, I'll keep iSight disconnected whenever songs are being transferred into the iPod.
Again, your advice is much appreciated. Thank you for the post.

  • Arch Live CD x64 hanging during boot at "triggering uevents"

    Hello!
I recently was recommended Arch by a friend, and after I followed the 'Newbies Guide' and burning a live CD to install Arch with, it appears to hang during Live CD boot at "installing uevents."
I am trying to install Arch as a dual boot on a late 2008 MacBook Pro which is currently running x64 Windows 7. I have plenty of HD space (100gb free and 100gb unallocated to install Arch onto).
    Here is a picture:
    http://i.imgur.com/Y8P41nf.jpg
I get the same error weather I try to install x64 or i686 (I think that's what it's called). Is there any reason for this?
    Thank you!

  • Disk utility hangs during disk verify

Initially 'disk verify' registered errors on exit - minor error/issue it said, some kind of header problem, so I ran disk utility off the install disk. Now the machine's native version of disk utility hangs during disk verify, blue & white spirals forever.
This coincidentally straight after my gmail/google address/account was hacked a couple of days ago.

Have you tried booting in SafeBoot mode (shift key held on start
until login screen appears) then launch Disk Utility and then run
    its 'repair disk permissions' item, selecting the Macintosh HD;
and then note the repair window. It should fix something.
And when Disk Utility is done, quit it, and restart the Mac normally.
{...It is unlikely something from gmail affected your computer unless
you open up unknown sourced emails or go to odd web sites where
something may be downloaded from there, which you would almost
have to install (as admin, etc) for malware to work. You can get and
    try ClamXAV for free to see if it sees any malware virus content.}
If you use Gmail, and do not log in using the https:// (secure http)
you should change the habit and bookmark the secure login site.
And when booted from the Installer disk and running Disk Utility
from there, see about running "repair disk" and not verify. The
repair choice will verify; but verify will not repair. Could be if
you cannot use the Utility to Repair the issues, and the other
SafeBoot mode and the computer's Disk Utility to get it working
you may need to further troubleshoot and/or get third-party tools.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Error: Logical end-of-file reached during read operation. Result Code = -39

    Hello all,
Recently, I have been suddenly getting this error message:
"Logical end-of-file reached during read operation. Result Code = -39."
In my case, when it does come up, it always pops up during the recording of an audio take. Almost immediately after hitting the stop button, this error message would pop up. And then when I go to check the take that was just recorded, there is nothing but shrieking noise. As a result, this pop up error trashes any good take I may have had. It's unpredictable as to when this error decides to pop up as well. So now, when I record, I tend to just have my fingers crossed and hope that this error doesn't pop up especially right after recording a good take!
To no avail, I have tried different I/O buffer settings, repaired permissions, rebooted, and even re-formatted my recording hard disk.
Could this be a possible hint that my hard disk is about to physically collapse? I have had it for about 2 years. Could it be some sort of bug in Logic? Or something else perhaps?
Appreciate any feedback! Thanks a lot!

    DamonGrant wrote:
    Thanks for those suggestions Erik...
It's been happening for a month I guess and I don't think that anything new's been installed. I will try recording to the start up disc and to maybe to some USB discs I have.
It seems to happen after working on a project for some time.
After say tracking takes for 45 mins or so. Maybe it's just coincidence, but do you think that might indicate a hardware issue?
Now there might be a clue. What happens when you then quit Logic, reboot your Mac, and reopen the active session? It might be that your disk has become a bit messy from all the traffic, and it just needs to 'settle' in OS X again. Click on the *Spotlight icon* top right of your screen and see if any indexing is taking place. Wait for it to finish before launching Logic.
Alternatively, you could exclude your recording disk from Spotlight indexing alltogether, by dragging the disk to the Privacy field in the Spotlight Sysprefpane.
One other thing to do: turn off Journaling , using *Disk Utility.* Select your recording volume in Disk Utility, hold the alt key while dropping down the File menu. Choose *Disable Journaling.*
On the other hand, it might also point to a RAM issue. Do you ever suffer Kernel panics (=the darkening 'curtain' and the message "You need to restart your Mac... etc")? or 'unexplained' crashes? If not or very rarely, I'ld rule out a RAM issue. If daily, it could be. What you can try in this case is to turn of your Mac and physically take out and reinsert your RAM.
And when you trash (=eject/unmount), physically disconnect and reconnect your recording disk? Does that help? (Logic should not be running when you do this)

  • PLEASE HELP ! While updating My Xperia Z1 , my pc hanged during the process and .

While updating My Xperia Z1 , my pc hanged during the process ( so , installation of update was interrupted , guess it's same as getting your USB connection disconnected )and now the phone won't turn on .
Its shows the Sony Xperia logo , then shows a black lit screen , and that's it , nothing else happens . I can only turn it off by pressing and holding the power+up volume button , but it turns on automatically if plugged in for charging or in PC only till it gets that black screen .
I tried to flash it with a flashtool (Emma) , but it says phone locked , but since it can't even be turned on , i can't unlock it .
It's a store bought phone and is not of any contracts with any mobile service provider or anything like that ....
Funny you know ... my PC had to crash at the moment i was updating it .... my luck ....
Anyways , now please can anyone tell me what i can do ? I'm sure there is a way i can fix it using my pc and other downloadable software , so please can some one help me how i can fix this problem ? I don't care if i lose all the data on it , i just want my phone back ....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Problem Solved ,Thank you  very much !!
For those who might face the problem and stumble upon this thread after googling
    Read above mentioned comments
    Now here's what I did :
Turned the phone off by power+volume key method , then plugged it in to the pc via USB and opened sony pc companion , entered Support zone , then entered the Update device option , then I Unplugged my device , only after doing this a window pops up with  Repair my phone/tablet in blue text , then i clicked on that and followed the simple instructions ..
It's basically what Thommo said , only i was so freaked out at that time that i failed to follow his instructions to the letter
So now my phone is back to normal , and , it got the latest lolipop update !
Problem solved i guess  but Thommo , i need to disturb you again with  just one more  question ,  since at the very beginning , the update process was interrupted , and now i got lolipop after  the repair ,without needing to update again ,  so has the lollipop been installed properly on my phone or do i need to use any other flashtool to re-install lollipop ?
    again , Thank you ...

  • Hang during import from camera or media - HELP!

iPhoto hangs during import from camera or media reader. Works for 20 or more photos, then hangs. No response at all. Must force quit. After restarting the import, it will go further the next time, then hang again. And again. And again. Eventually the import completes. After that, all is OK until next import. VERY FRUSTRATING. Especially with 8GB media cards. ARRGH!
I've tried rebuilding iPhoto library (all options). Using iPhoto 7.1.5 on OS X 10.5.6. 4GB ram, intel dual core.

I usually use the media reader. After the imports started hanging is when I tried importing direct from the camera to see if it made a difference. No difference.
I've reformatted the media. No difference. Still hangs on first import after reformat. Multiple media cards, all same result. Tried different USB ports, same result. Tried different media readers. Same result.
