Lion: scrolling tabs in lists are gone

Feb 20, 2012 3:04 PM  Lion: there are sliders that allow us to scroll up and down a list in a column. in panther, the little arrows that were at the top or bottom of the column that allowed slower, incremental, scrolling through lists are gone. do i have a preference checked somwhere? I know that in the past you could choose to place them at the top or bottom of the column.

Arrows are gone........
You can always show the scroll bars but I believe you already have that checked.
System Preferences -> General ; Show Scroll Bars - > Click on Always if that is what you want.

Itunes 8.0 - My ratings and play list are gone! External Drive
It has about one year I have been rating my songs and creating my play lists. I keep all my musics on a external drive. Always when I plug the drive I can play the musics list on the library with out a problem.
Now on this new update (8.0), when I click on the music, simply the Itunes don't find the music. And when I add to the library a music that was already there, it comes with NO RATING!
    Results:
    1) lost my ratings
    2) lost my play lists...I will have to build all again.
    Can some one Help Me?
    Thanks

Hi, usually iTunes stores data in 2 different folders:
one it's used to store your music files, the other stores your settings (playlists, ratings...). The first one can be stored wherever you want, the other, which contains the xml file with all your settings, is usually stored in My Documents / Music / iTunes Music. If you don't back up it or you replace it (for example doing a clean install of iTunes), you could lost all your informations. I suggest you to recover your PC from a backup (if available) or use a program to recover deleted files. Let me know if you need more help, goodbye

  • After updating Firefox Browser a week ago a "Note Taking" program I had installed with a launch in the Tools tab disappeared ... 6 tabs of notes are gone now?

I had a nifty note taking program with a launch line in the Tools Tab of the browser ... I offered six separate pages to take notes ... I cannot remember the name of the program and when I updated the Mozilla Firefox Browser to the latest version about a week ago the line to launch that Note program in the Tools Tab was gone ... I cannot find my notes on those six pages and they were voluminous ... any ideas where the program went?

You are using Firefox 23.0, which is an unstable version of Firefox not yet ready for release (the latest stable version of Firefox is Firefox 22.0)
Quite possibly, the application you were using is not compatible with such a high version of Firefox.
You might want to take a look here (http://mzl.la/MOvsag) to see if downgrading Firefox can be a solution for you. If you were last using Firefox 22.0, you can go over to the Mozilla website (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) and get Firefox from there.
Also, please check out Session restore for more information (http://mzl.la/MCnd4M)

  • In Thunderbird 31, the Nested Mail Lists are gone !

I've changed from Netscape to Thunderbird 2 or 3 years ago. And the 2GB problem in folders size disappeared. And Thunderbird(2010-2011) worked perfectly using the same data profile as Netscape. I'm an openSUSE user, on a x86_64 workstation.
My address book uses for 10 years now **Nested Mailing Lists**.
In such a Lists I have 2 or 3 "SubLists", plus individual emails, etc.
after the last update to "Thunderbird 31" the address book **refuses all my nested lists**, saying, for example :
SubList <SubList> is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the e-mail.
then I tested on a different nested list ans it's clear : NOW THUNDERBIRD REFUSES ANY SUBLIST IN A LIST
    IT WORKED PERFECTLY TILL NOW

Fill in one address, press return. Does a To: button not appear in the next line down.
    </blockquote>
Yes, the To: button does appear in the next line down, but that is not my question. Let me clarify.
On each addressee line, there is the identifier, To:, then there is a space to fill in the addressee's e-mail name and address. Between these two elements, in the previous version of Thunderbird, there was a small round symbol (I don't know what it would be called). Clicking on that symbol would select the entire addressee. That symbol is gone in the new version.

  • Tabs vs Lists for Navigation

I have an application that includes several data entry screens, administrative functions, security, and lots of reports. So many reports that I can't fit them all into a standard navigation region.
I currently use the One Tab Set template, and there are nearly 200 pages in my application. The idea was brought up to add a second set of tabs to make report grouping more feasible. My own experiments with two tabs and many of the posts here on the forum lead me to believe that perhaps navigation lists are a better way to go. Can someone point me to a tutorial or thread that details this more? Are they talking about context menus where you click on a tab and you get a drop-down list of pages to navigate to? Are they referring to lists in the breadcrumbs (I'm already using breadcrumbs effectively in my application)?
I'm looking for some ideas. Thanks.

I can't point you to a reference but I can tell you that both options two level tabs and lists are doable. However, lists are easier to maintain than the two level tabs. Breadcrumbs are different than lists. The point is that you can display your pages similar to how I did it in the demo application:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:1
where I use second level tabs on the left side of the page. This could be replaced by lists at any time. The only point I see here is that tabs are created automatically and the lists need to be updated manually.

  • Before every time I use to open a new tab it comes as top site. Now not anymore and instead is an automatically website calle Only Search. I went to Safari preference I change everything and when I quit Safari all the changes are gone.

Every time I used to open a new tab it comes as top site. Now not anymore , instead it open in a website called Only Search, I went to safari preferences and made all changes but after I quit Safari and open again all changes are gone. I can not change anything and new tab comes by it self with other website.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Downlite" or "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the support article, you may also need to remove this item in the same way:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This malware is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • I just upgraded to mountain lion and all my mail folders for storing all old emails are gone. How do I get them back?

I just upgraded to mountain lion and all my mail folders for storing all old emails are gone. How do I get them back?

    Buffzap,
Make sure that you choose Mail>View>Show Mailbox List, then hover your cursor over one of the subordinate mailbox categories, and you should see "Show." Next click on "Show."

  • Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
    Click Preferences
    Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
    Incoming Mail Server?
    Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

  • When closing Firefox, after reopening it, my tabs are gone, even though I have Firefox set to remember session.

When closing Firefox, after reopening it, my tabs are gone, even though I have Firefox set to remember session. However, after several hours and opening and closings of Firefox, it will open tabs from the old session, for no apparent reason.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Multiple_profile_files_created
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • TS1702 I upgraded my iPad 2 to ios6 & now certain apps (YouTube ) are gone & are not listed in the App Store. Another app (ny1 news) no longer works! Again it's not listed in the App Store. How do you correct this problem?

What happened to mt apps after uploading ios6
some are gone, some don't work & they are not listed in the App Store anymore

I found the following in the Macbook Help, and the last bullet worked for me.
"You can uninstall apps you got from the Mac App Store, from other websites, or from discs. You can’t uninstall apps that are part of OS X, such as Safari and Mail.
Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store. If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, it can’t be uninstalled in Launchpad. For more information about Launchpad, see Use Launchpad to view and open apps.
Apps that have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. If an app is inside a folder, it might have an Uninstaller. Open the app’s folder. If you see Uninstall [App] or [App] Uninstaller, double-click it and follow the onscreen instructions.
Apps that don’t have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash. If you change your mind, before emptying the Trash, select the app in the Trash, then choose File > Put Back.WARNING: When you empty the Trash, the app is permanently removed from your Mac. If you have any files that you created with the app, you may not be able to open them."

  • All my tiles are gone when I open a new tab, how do I get them back?

This is hopeless. Suddenly, all my frequently used tiles are gone from the "new tab"-page.
And they do not restore, even if I visit the same pages.
The new tab-page are just full of empty squares.
How do I get them back?
I tried to follow the instructions on how to get new tiles in, but the buttons that I'm supposedly to use are not present.
Thanks so much for replying. This is driving me crazy!

Yes, I can drag a history item or bookmark to a tile, and several will appear in tiles. BUT, they disappear again as soon as I open a new tab.
Settings are set to "Remember history".

  • In iphoto 11 the copy and past buttons to the adjustment tab are gone

In iphoto 11 the copy and past buttons to the adjustment tab are gone. I thought this was a cool feature. They still work when you click alt-c or alt-v. Did anyone notice this?

I've noticed too and I don't like it! I tried to alt-c like you said and when I do that, it just takes me to the crop. It won't allow me to copy the adjustments! Is there any way around this??
