Lion server change port?

Hello everyone,
I know that the web port for lion server is 80. But I would like to change it to 8080 as my ISP blocked 80. How can I change this on my lion server?
Thank you very much!

Ah, I've recently worked this one out for my mail server
In 'Mail' on the server.app tick the 'Relay outgoing mail through ISP' box and then click edit.
in the 'Outgoing Mail Relay' box entery your mail relay and add the port you want to use after the address.
I'm using dnyDNS so for me it looks like this outbound.mailhop.org:2525
Then enter you account login details and you should get the outbound mail servier to work.
As a side topic - once i have this set up my server emails all the alerts set up in the 'Alerts' window.
For the input port I have dnyDNS (Dyn Email Gateway) setup as a relay and forwarding the mail on port 2525 then use my routers port mapping to map port 2525 to port 25 on my server.
One thing that caught me out when I set it up was the spam filtering setup, which turns the incoming mail around to see if it's resent. this is the correct behaviour but to test the mail setup it's best to turn it off until you have everything else running.

  • Lion Server App Port?

    Hello,
I am having a problem using the Lion Server App to access our company Lion Server from outside the intranet.
Is port 311 the correct port to open on the firewall to access Lion Server from the outside with Server App?
    Thank you!

    Hi Warashina,
Yes it is the correct port #.  Specifically it is 311/tcp.  For reference you can look at this document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1629
In addition you can use the terminal's basic tcpdump command to check.  If using your wifi adapter the command would be:
    sudo tcpdump -i en1 -q -n
Then fire up server.app and attempt to connect you can see the basic conversation go over the wire.
In my case it looked like this:
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on en1, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes
    12:40:52.891558 IP 10.254.30.253.52992 > 170.34.55.122.311: tcp 0
    12:40:53.039459 IP 170.34.55.122.311 > 10.254.30.253.52992: tcp 0
    12:40:53.039530 IP 10.254.30.253.52992 > 170.34.55.122.311: tcp 0

    12:40:53.185072 IP 170.34.55.122.311 > 10.254.30.253.52992: tcp 0
    12:40:53.185497 IP 170.34.55.122.311 > 10.254.30.253.52992: tcp 79
    12:40:53.185548 IP 10.254.30.253.52992 > 170.34.55.122.311: tcp 0
311 tcp was used to connect to and 52992 was used as the origin port from my machine.

  • HTTP Server - change port 7777 to 80

    Hi all!
I have installed, in Linux_x86 (Enterprise Linux), a database 10.2.0.1, the HTTP Server from companion CD and the Apex 2.2.1.
I want to change the default port of HTTP Server 7777 to the port 80.
For that I change the httpd.conf:
    port:80
    listen:80
then I follow the manual of administration of HTTP Server and I done:
as root - chown root .apachectl
    chmod 7560 .apachectl
I change again to user oracle and I tried to restart the HTTP Server but i can't.
    error:
    RCV: Permission denied
Communication error with the OPMN server local port.
    Check the OPMN log files
Now, I only can start the HTTP Server with the user root.
Is that normal? I missed something?
And now I can access the page of the http server but i can´t reach the Apex - when I write http://hostname/pls/apex - the browser change it to http://hostname/pls/apex/apex and gives the following error:
    Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
    Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.2.0.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server Server at oracle.com.pt Port 80
    Thank you in advance,

  • Lion Server: VPN external ports to open on firewall

With Leopard/SnowLeopard Server, opening ports back to my server @ 500, 1701 and 4500 were sufficient for L2TP VPN.  I had no issues trying to connect to my VPN until I upgraded to Lion (which I'm quickly learning was a big mistake).
Now it appears that there might be undocumented, additional ports in the new (dumbed down) VPN on Lion Server
I've got 500, 1701 and 4500 open now... and added 1723 (PPTP) as some people suggested (found via google search).  I still cannot connect from outside my nework - the client acts like the server does not exist.
Please note that I can connect without an issue from within the network.  When I simply change the hostname to my external host, it no longer is able to connect.  (My firewall supports external reflection when trying to access my external IP - so don't worry about my firewall config, other than port redirection).
Is there another port besides the four I've listed about that I need to open?

Yup... all UDP.  I'll mess with getting it outside the firewall.
I'm thinking now that it might be a domain/certificate name issue - seeing that all the new certificate trust requirements have already broken other things for me (like web-based stuff, calendars and profile management)
Is it required by the VPN server that the certificate hostname matches the external hostname?

  • Lion server doesn't delete open port service once added in time capsule mgmt from server app.

I was trying to set a specific port to avoid file sharing conflict using time capsule as main router with lion server.
I added a new public service in Server.app in time capsule section where you can manage Airport setting and open ports for mail cal vpn etc. I  assigned a port and given a name as requested. In my case a named "test"  and gave port number 5678 to try.
Once I decided to delete this public service I noticed that anytime I make a changes in Server.app in Time capsule settings Server.app perform a refresh and the deleted servirce appear again and again with the same name and same setting in airport utility (ports management)
The only way to delet it is to go in airport utility and delete that from there. But in the chance you want to make another change in TC managemnet from Server.app you.ll see the service deleted from everywhere magically appearing again in your airport device in my case a TC.
Callled Apple and they said to investigate the forum.
Now if I maje a change in Server app. TC section to add or remouve public service I have 10 usefull open ports (not enabled) in Airport ( TC)
    Any Help?
    Thx
    Jo

I have been having this same problem, except that I cannot open basic ports through either app. I've tried opening the standard web services port on 80, but neither app (Server or Airport Utility) will open it. Apple support has been worthless.

  • Mountain Lion Mac Mini Server Ethernet Port Not Working

I have a Mac Mini Server and once I upgraded to Mountain Lion Server the Ethernet port is unresponsive. It worked before upgrading. Is there something with Mountain Lion Server that is causing the Ethernet port not to work properly?

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

  • How do you change the volume used for group folders in Lion Server?

So I'm slowly acclimating to Lion Server, however, I'm not able to determine how to specify the parent folder for Groups.  By default it's the /Groups root directory on the boot volume however I'm trying to change it to an alternate drive on a separate volume.  I've tried removing the sharepoint from the 'Server' admin utility and adding the alternate Group folder (on a separate volume) but to no avail.
Has anyone else worked with this?

    Hey,
Open Workgroup Manager app, from the ServerAdminTools, (link) enter your domain name for your server (FQDN), enter your OpenDirectory administrator user and password, go to Groups > Groups Folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I changing the default WIKI Server name on OS x Lion Server?

How do I changing the default WIKI Server name on OS x Lion Server? Enterprise solutions suggested I post this question here to get a direct answer. I have searched everywhere... This would be the META TAG On the top of browsers...

I went looking for this answer, to no avail.
    Solution I used:
step 1 - Navigate to the folder /usr/share/collabd/coreclient/locales/en.lproj/ and open the only file there called default.strings.
step 2 - somewhere around lines 74 & 164 you will see the default title "OS X Lion Server". I'm sure only one of the is required to be changed to adjust the title on the window, but I changed both to my desired title. Save and close. If asked for authentication, enter you administrator details.
step 3 - restart the server (or wiki service may work too)
step 4 - done and your Wiki welcome page should show the new title
Finally I have a bookmark that means something by default.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I properly change the server name in mountain lion server?

I need to change my server name to a FQDN, but tried this with Lion server in the past without success. I know in lion you'd use server app, but that's no longer avaiable in mountain lion server and I want to make sure I get this right the first time.
    Thanks!

I was able to get everything working with some assistance from Apple's enterprise support. After changing the host name, the DNS was still not resolving properly and I couldn't turn on open directory so that I'd be able to start profile manager. The DNS interface is considerably different than that in previous versions of server. The network was set to manual ip with dhcp, which was pulling back an external IP. Overriding the DNS info coming in via the dhcp, setting it to localhost, resolved the issue.
    Thanks!

Assign "Log on as a service" to the service account on this computer. You can use Local Security Settings (Secpol.msc) to do this.
If this computer is a node in a cluster, check that this user right is assigned to the Cluster service account on all nodes in the cluster.
If you have already assigned this user right to the service account, and the user right appears to be removed,
check with your domain administrator to find out if a Group Policy object associated with this node might be removing the right.

  • DNS Changes (Mountain Lion Server & Airport Extreme)

I'm using a Mac Mini Mountain Lion Server with a Airport Extreme Router. The router is currently providing the DHCP funtion. Is it possible to change the DHCP settings on the router to use the DNS server on the Mac Mini Server rather than the one in the router.
I can't see any setting on either the Airport Utility or the Server App I was wondering if the DNS Server setting could be change via the comand line.
    Many Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
Have you tried putting your Airport Extreme into Bridge Mode? That should enable you to use the DHCP service on your server.

  • Change share name in Lion server?

Is there a way to change a share name in lion server? For example, I have a folder on my disk named "Sophos Anti-Virus" that I want to share via AFP. However, I want to share name to be simply "Sophos". I know I was able to do this somehow in 10.5 Server, but I can't seem to find a way to do it in Lion.

    Hi
A way of doing this would be to launch the Server App and select the File Sharing Service. Select the share point and click the 'minus' icon to remove the share.
Obviously warn users they should save any data they are accessing and to disconnect from the share first.
Once the share has been removed from the File Sharing Service navigate to the folder in the Finder and change the name. Go back to the File Sharing Service and click the 'plus' icon and re-add the newly named share.
    HTH?

  • Trouble connecting to Lion server AFP shares after changing server's hostname

    Hello everyone,
I recently changed hostname of my Lion server box (via Server application) and now my clients are having a problem when trying to connect to its AFP shares via aliases. It takes 160 seconds of "resolving alias to <sharename>" before it finally works. Aliases were created by navigating to the server, connecting with "Connect As", providing valid credentials, then navigating one level up and dragging the share icon (blue disk with three white people outlines) to the Desktop with Option-Command.
What is interesting, if I create a new account on a client machine, create an alias, and click on it - it works without any delay, as it was for the clients that are having problems now; so I'm assuming some details about the previous server name got cached somewhere.
The clients with long delay problems can access the shares quickly if they click on the server in the Finder window drawer, then "Connect As" and provide their login credentials - it works instantly then.
I've been digging around quite a bit (deleting Keychain saved Network passwords for any and all references to the server I could find), and also by looking at kerberos logs on the server. What is interesting, the newly created clients I mention above who don't have delay with connecting, don't leave any records in the kerberos log file; but the ones that have 160 second delay do - there's nothing for 160 seconds, and then there is a flurry of activity, as the connection is finally established.
When a client who has trouble connecting uses the "Connect As" method described above, entries in the Kerberos log are created instantly when client clicks connect.
Probably also worth noting that renaming of the server was related to me setting up Open Directory on it.
Any pointers would be greatly apprecited.

I experienced almost exactly the problems you described. I also found that connecting via command line using mount_afp worked right away... and once the connection is established, mounting via finder was super fast.
Tried all kinds of craziness on the client, even a full Time Machine restore.
    Tried fixing Open Directory.
I was absolutely stumped by what was happening, but then thought, Hmm. I'm wondering if it's related to MobileMe going down? I noticed it started to happen after July 31...
Success! That was it! Signing out of MobileMe in System Preferences made everything work the way it should!
CDPlayer2: check if the clients are signed in to MobileMe, and if signing out fixes things - I'd appreciate it if you could post your results. Thanks.

  • What ports need to be open to control Lion Server from a remote location (through Server.app)?

I need to control a Lion Server from a remote location and need to poke some holes in the firewall, unfortunately, I have no idea what ports those need to be. I can control the Server via the Server Admin application, but it will simply not connect via the Server.app.
