Lion thinks I have two monitors connected
I have a MacPro 2008 with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT.
I have two monitors, a Phillips 27" and a Samsung 19"
I set up the system with the two monitors connected to the graphics card and everything was fine.
I have since disconnected the Samsung monitor completely from the graphics card. however Lion thinks it's still there/connected.
It's a real pain because it persists on displaying on the phantom screen and no matter what I do through System Prefs/Display I cannot get Lion to forget the monitor. Even if I gather the windows and place them one behind the other. If I click detect displays it thinks there are two there.
Looking through the forum/discussions, this appears to be a problem with Lion and not the graphics cards, as people have simpliar problems with different cards/systems and what they're outputting to.
Anybody have any suggestions?

I have tried that fix, and it does work.
However if I every time I connect a second monitor to the graphic card the same thing happens and I don't want to have to reset preferences every time I choose have a second monitor running.
I sometimes run the second graphic channel out to my 46" Sony TV for watching catch up TV services.
Any other suggestions?

I have a MB Pro that is running Lion; I also have two external DVI monitors and a DVI splitter in hopes that I could run the two monitors with my MB Pro. This actually works fine, but I am unable to "extend" the desktop. Any insights?
You cannot have a extended desktop using a splitter. All that does is mirror the pair attached to the splitter.
You can do this however using a Matrox DualHead2Go.
Other solution would be to attach one monitor to your video out as you do the splitter and attach the other via USB (assuming the adapter supports the monitor's resolution).

I have two monitor speakers that I would like to airplay to from my iMac. Is this possible? Is there an adapter or receiver? The monitor speakers are KRK VXT8.
They have a trial version you can test before you purchase. It limits you to 10 minutes of streaming before it starts inserting noise into the stream.
But you may not need it. I've read a bit further, and it appears that you may be able to stream any system audio to an Airport Express without needing AirFoil since you have Mountain Lion. I though it would work only with an Apple TV, but I've seen mention that it works with the AE as well (I don't have one to try). When you get your Airport Express set up, go to the Sound (speaker) icon in the menu bar, hold down the Option key, and click the icon. You may see the AE listed there as a selectable output device; if so, select it and all your system audio should be sent to the AE, including Spotify.

I'm fairly certain your graphics card doesn't support it. As far as I'm aware, Apple only introduced Macs with stock graphics cards capable of supporting dual displays (spanned) when they released the QuickSilver model. The cards in earlier G4s (Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio) had multiple connectors so you could connect either an Apple ADC display or third party VGA display, but I believe they only mirror each other.
If you needed to support two independent displays at the time, I guess you went for one of the built to order graphics card options, or bought a second (PCI) graphics card. -
if I have two laptops connected to a single wireless hard drive (i.e. Time Capsule), what happens when one laptop wants to go on a trip and the other one needs to stay home? I'm afraid I know the answer, but I'm hoping Apple has a great solution to my problem.

The computer on a trip will do snapshot backups on the hard drive that will then be incorporated into the Time Machine backup once you get it back home. See

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter or paste the appropriate command line. Press RETURN and enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.
To turn them ON: sudo tmutil enablelocal
To turn them OFF: sudo tmutil disablelocal
Note that turning them OFF will also delete all existing snapshots. -
Currently I have two iPads connected to the same apple iPad. One is connected to game center(iPad air) one the other(iPad 2) is not connected to Game Center. How can I connect the iPad 2 Clash of Clan progress to game center when I already have another clash from iPad air connected?
You cannot transfer content between two accounts. The sooner you make the conversion, the better. Just pick the new one and start using it(buying music etc).
*A lot of people open new accounts when their email changes or they have a new email. You can just access your apple id account and change the primary email that you use to log in along with other details. -
can i have two internet connections connected to two airport extremes separately without disturbing the home sharing option. i want to have both the airport extremes to use a single imac for streaming music or video to my apple tv's at different places where one apple tv is in the range of one airport extreme.it's not a problem if both airport extremes have different wifi id's with separate internet.The imac which i use for streaming the music and videos is only in the range of only one airport extreme.is it possible if i can stream music or videos to my apple tv which is not in the range of same airport extreme which i use for imac but in the range of other airport extreme.

What happens if you think you have two apple IDs?
I think I have two apple IDs. One I created many years ago with an IPod, but I don't know what that one is now. It has most of my music attached to it. Now I have one with my email that doesn't have all that music and I can't get the music to attach to it??

I think I have two apple ID accounts.
The account I am using right now is Alexiaann22. Im like 99.9999% possitive that before this was my origonal account(rosepetttals).
When I am buying an app in the app store the apple id is already there and all you have to do is change the password. But the apple ID thaat is there is the Rosepetttals.
I am no longer using that email so I cannot get the password sent to it. I also cannot retrieve the password for rosepetttals because it says that the birthday I am entering is incorrect. but im pretty sure I would know my own birthday.
I know its alittle confusing but I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks you!I am having this same issue, please help asap... I cannot listen to half of my music library and have never encountered this issue before.

Siri asked if I wanted it to remember that the contact listed as Rosie was my wife. So in the future I could simply refer to her as my wife and Siri would know who I am talking about. but then I changed the name on my wife's profile. Since Siri could no longer find her, I had to tell it that the new profile was "my wife". Now siri thinks I have two wives. When I say, "call wife", Siri asks, "which wife"? Needless to say, this doesn't sit well with my wife and it draws odd looks from people when I'm in public. How do I cancel the association Siri made with the now non-existent contact as "my wife"?
Siri creates relationships based on the contact you have for YOU. You told Siri who YOU were in Settings->General->Siri tap 'My Info. You could delete YOU in the contacts and start over. Create a contact for YOU again and then link YOU in Siri (Settings->General->Siri tap 'My Info). I've found that when I had the problem and a few of my friends as well, it was due to multiple ME contacts. Usually happens when you have more than one address books such as iCloud and Exchange or Google etc. I found when I went into each contact for ME I had two "spouse" contacts and thus Siri asked me which one? If you can't find it then the only suggestion I have is to delete the contact stored for yourself and then start over. I would search for YOU delete and then search for YOU again. Keep going until there are no more contacts for YOU. Create a new contact for YOU and then link in Siri (Settings->General->Siri tap 'My Info).

Hi. I tried switching my Apple ID email address to my new email address and I don't know how to switch it for iCloud and iTunes. Please help!! It seems like Apple thinks I have two separate accounts, when I just tried to simply change it!
