Lion update locked all my pdfs?

Just installed Lion update (10.7.2) and now all my .pdfs are "locked," which is really strange and frustrating. File info says I have full permissions, but that's not correct (no copy/paste/annotate/find). Some of these .pdfs are files that I made, on this very computer, from (say) Word docx. Their locations have not changed (most are on dropbox) and they were never locked before. I've always only used Preview, which at the moment is v 5.5.1. I can't remember/didn't check whether there was a Preview update included in the latest Lion update (looks like it, on a visual level). What's causing this?
I tried moving a file to local drive, then renaming. Then attempted to use annotation, and got option to unlock. Beside the File icon, "locked" changed to "edited," but it's still locked, really (no copy/paste/find...but it looks like I can annotate, i.e. highlight).

Some folks have decided that versions is the worst thing to happen since the Black Death. Personally I like it and I think it is kind of neat.
You can change the length of time from last edit that a document gets locked in the Time Machine options. I don't think I changed mine so I'm guessing the default is 2 weeks. But you can extend that up to one year or turn it off completely if you want.

I'm curious. I use TM but suppose someone does not use it. Does that disable Versions?

Lion has locked all my pdf files. I want to print them and can't!

I was having a problem like this with .HTML code files. The Apple tech had me
- repair permissions with Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility
- shutdown and reboot (smile)
- UNCHECK System Preferences->Time Machine->Options->Lock Documents
Also for Text Edit he had me
CHECK Text Edit->Preferences->Open and Save->Ignore Rich Text commands
I suspect there might be a few other things like this hidden away.

RAW Support 3 Update LOCKED ALL My External Drives!

OK, Can't get Aperture 2.1.4 to open or create any Libraries since the RAW 3 Support and iLife 09 update yesterday (came in through Software Update).
Running a PowerMac G5 tower, OSX 10.5.8
The Update worked fine with iPhoto 8.1.1 and I can now open RAW files from my new Canon S90.
I have 8 external FW drives which are now all "Read Only" and the lock is Grayed Out.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I decided to try the Bob Timmons approach of shutting everything down for a half hour and then restarting the external drives and then 5 minutes later start the Mac.
This worked!
All of my FW drives now say "Read & Write" and all is back to normal.
However Aperture 2.1.4 still will not recognize CR2 (RAW files) OR JPEGs from the new Canon S90.
iPhoto8.1.1. sees both now.

Lion Install locks all Time Machine Bundles

I don't know if anyone else has run into this, but while my wife's new Macbook Air was importing documents and applications from her old sparsebundle on our Time Capsule, the Lion Installer kept EVERY other sparsebundle on the time capsule locked. 2 hours later, when the Macbook Air install completed, our other computers had access to their backups again. Although, having lost access, they all re-verified them (more time lost)

Sounds like a problem with the drive itself, but might be corrupted data. See if you can Repair it, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
I'm tempted to just format it in Vista. Mount it in Lion, if it does at all, then format again for OS X. See if just a corrup files and not a failing hard drive.
If you do that, format it again with Disk Utility. Among other things, be sure it has the GUID partiion map scheme, not MBR (the Windoze setup), or even a version of GUID set by Windoze.

Mountain Lion update continues all day and night. How do I finish it, or stop it?

this "update" (2013 003 1.0) continues days and months now. I can't get it to stop. Can't use ITunes because of it. Can't turn off the machine (Mac) because of it. Got any suggestions?

Can you check in your Applications Folder to see if the installer is still there. You are confused on some things, because the installer should be giving you a DOWNLOAD text on the purchases page, not install.

Invalid serial number for Lion update. How long do we wait for the code ?

I bought iMac on June 27, 2011 from the Apple Store in Nashua, NH.
I went to the page to enter my serial number and get my code for free LION update.
All I get is invalid serial # message.
I filled out the form and I am still waiting...going on second day ???

I know that. I entered my valid serial number but the system that allows for a free update is rejecting
the serial number. You then have to send them a copy of your purchase etc etc.........and they will
email you some kind of code !!!! I am still (along with many others) waiting for my CODE.

I have Brother Control Center3 and if I click the "Configuration" button in Control Center and then click on the type of scan (e.g., image, file, ocr, etc) there is a window where I can select the file type of the output, the application that opens with the document after the scan and the ability to adjust a number of other settings. I suspect that this was similar in earlier versions but if not you can likely download a later version from the Brother support site.

I don't get it, I read one post about why would we have to buy an AirPrint Printer when we have used the "print to a wifi printer" just fine in the past? Yes I feel that's exactly what's happening to me now too. I want to print from my iPhone and iPad to my WiFi Printer which is also now connected to my Airport Express WiFi network just fine. No problems.

Very glad you added that bit of information because I see different problems similar to this. I want to share with them what you did and hopefully you not only fixed your specific problem but you can lend some more advice to others with problems like this. Thanks!

Since when did this happen? Directly after you upgraded to Aperture 3.3.2?
If it happened directly after the upgrade the problem may be, that the raw support for your camera got lost. For some posters it helped to register the raw support again, see this post by Alan Roseman:

If this does not help, you may need to reinstall Lion to bring back the raw support.
But if the problem occured independent of a new installation, ypu may have a problem with your camera or the card you are using. Have you tried to use a different card or to reformat the card in the camera?

Yeah, I literally have tried everything except deleting my iCloud account (I'm close, but that would require so many changes that it is way too painful to consider at this point).
I am still waiting to hear back from Apple Support. Hopefully something can be done, or they can do a reset on their end.

I am having a really wierd issue as well that is probally related. I dont see 95% of the album artwork associated with my music. Also, it seems as if this has gotten worse since I started using that match feature

By reinstalling do you mean that you deleted the app and redownloaded it ? Deleting an app will remove the app and its contents. Do you have copies of the PDFs in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library so that you can sync them back ?

While researching frame rate I came across this helpful blog posting: Crazy about Captivate: Lessons Learned: Video and Resolution in Adobe Captivate
This is the line that caught my attention: "I discovered, after several experiments, that if you publish a course in Captivate as SCALABLE with a video inserted, no matter what the resolution, it makes the video look pixelated."
When I unclick the "scalable HTML content" button before publishing, the video is fine!
Big sigh of relief! Now I just need to figure out why audio won't play on one of the slides (it has an accordian widget, if that's relevant) and why I can no longer use Effects (I get the message, "Effect file is not valid")

what a long post....Apple, btw, does not read this stuff, so ranting, raving, and complaining here might make you feel good, but it does no good at all. That being said, I, too have a Mac Pro Quad Core Xeon with 6 gigs of ram and an nVidia 8800 GT graphics card (not as good as yours, alas) and I've had no problems at all with it. Yes, it doesn't have Thunderbolt, but maybe we Mac pro owners will get lucky and someone will come out with an adapter (probably not). No, you probably don't have to throw away your Mac Pro, but if you do, I'll take it, for a small "recycling" fee >:-) That was a joke. Yes, the Mac Pro's future isn't quite clear, YET. Hopefully that will improve very soon. As for not being able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Don't worry about that too much, Nobody is forcing you to do that. Your Mac Pro won't quit working if it isn't installed. From what I've heard, you should give the new OS a chance, and wait to get it, in case there might be some bugs, or stuff not working with the new OS, which has been known to happen. Yes, we Mac Pro owners don't like being treated like mushrooms-kept in the dark, and being fed......... but Apple is Apple and it will do what it does, and there is nothing you or me can really do to change that. All I can say is....trust, have faith, be patient, go for a walk, do something else to take your mind off of this problem. IF apple decides to drop the Mac Pro for good, and that's a big "IF", I think they will anger a whole bunch of people
which isn't good. However, that hasn't happened...YET. Let us hope that it doesn't
